Shi has been acting, odd lately. Yuudai first noticed it around the time the month started, usually Shi didn't really do much when he wasn't at school or doing digital world stuff. Lately though he had been going out more often then normal, everyday after school he got home later and later, it was quite odd to say the least for Yuudai to see. Hold up in Shi's closet with his brother Yuudai thought for a bit before asking. "Hey bro, is it just me or has Shi been gone a lot lately?" Yasuo looked up from a puzzle he was doing and opened the closet door a crack, looking at a clock on the wall it was indeed later then Shi normally stayed out. "Hmm, yeah a bit off. Wonder what's going on with him?"
Yuudai and Yasuo then spent the next few moments wondering just what it could be that Shi was doing out so late, there wasn't anything important coming up that he'd need to be out for, no big events happening soon. At least none that the twins knew about. "I dunno but I'm getting antsy for some digital world traveling. Oh I got it." A lightbulb went off in Yuudai's head, but his brother had already had the same idea. "Gonna do some old fashion stalking? Follow him from school." Yasuo mused getting a nod from his brother. "Yup, great minds do think alike." With that set in the brothers minds they decided to idle the rest of the day away, making small plans on finding out what Shi was trying to do.
The next day came pretty fast, Shi had gone to school and like clockwork the house was empty of any humans pretty fast, leaving the house to Yuudai and Yasuo to make a plan. Since Shi was a good kid and went to all his classes they had some time and came up with a great strategy to not be seen by any humans, Using a lot of back alleys and tricks they remembered from other stray digimon they met both were held up around the school waiting for the teen to come out and play, which happened right on time. Shi was simply walking down the street unaware of the twins slowly tailing him from behind, going through each hiding place as they watched Shi slowly go.
Eventually they saw him enter a shop and both hid around it, Yasuo using a cardboard box nearby and Yuudai behind the same box that Yasuo was in. Looking up at the store name it seemed to be a cake shop of sorts, both twins were a bit confused recalling their tamer really didn't like sweets at all. "Is he getting something for Mirai?" Shi's little sister did like the odd sweet or two but getting her a cake seemed like it'd be a bit excessive and unnecessary considering there wasn't a bit event going on. Still after a while Shi exited the shop with a rather large cake in a bag, he sighed seemingly annoyed at the heaviness for a moment before he continued on, not towards home but to another place.
Trailing behind him again Yuudai and Yasuo's minds rushed with what Shi could be doing, what could he need a cake for? What happened next didn't answer the question well as it seemed he was going to a store they hadn't seen before, there was a lot of fancy stuff in the windows like pendants, even some engraved with words they couldn't make out. Shi walked in and eventually walked out as well, nothing new was added but the twins assumed Shi had put whatever he got in the bag. "Shi's buying a lot of stuff I don't think he'd like... Is it for someone else?" Yuudai seemed confused as well but as they were about to start talking about it they both heard a familiar voice from behind. "It is for someone who's probably in a lot of trouble right now."
Both froze completely before slowly turning around and seeing their tamer right behind them, looking not happy with either of them as he raised his free hand and shook his head, hand on forehead annoyed. "Saw you both at the cake shop, Explain." Shi had asked that but they quickly decided going home was better then staying here and explaining, once they had returned back to Shi's room they started explaining why they followed after Shi, apologizing a lot while doing so. "So that's it huh, well... I wanted to keep it a surprise but. Here." Shi walked back and brought over a table in his room before setting his bag on it, slowly he pulled out two black boxes and the cake he bought from the shop.
"I suppose you must not of remembered but, Today is the day that I met you two and became a tamer, Late at night coming home from school late and finding that egg on my doorstep. Becoming a tamer and what we've been through is all well and good but no matter what I'm glad I met you two." Shi had his usual cold look as he spoke but instead of his blank face he had a smile. "I wanted to celebrate that, through all the near death experiences and weirdos coming after me, I wouldn't exchange it for anything." Shi then motioned for them to open the boxes with both contained a pocket watch, both the exact same golden color and chain. "I know you guys have a hard time using digital stuff so, those are both pretty old school. no digital to interfere with it."
Yuudai and Yasuo both looked at the watches then at each other, before both started crying and lunged at Shi giving him a hug, taken aback Shi fell over not ready for the sudden embrace but at the same time didn't push them off, instead letting out a small laugh smiling. His emotionless face gone with one of genuine happiness, if only for a moment. "You two, will always be my little brothers."
