Now with the thought that her home may be safer under the guard of the strong sea friends that she had made. New and grand possibilities had opened to the little shark. The ability to travel to locations far from her home. To the other side of the Digital World if she so wished it. The ocean was now open to her and she was going to swim it with the greatest pleasure.
Although, she knew very little of what was transpired out of this little bubble, she called home. Which could prove… slightly more troublesome for the excitable shark.
But, she swam, onward. Allowing for once, the currents to guide her away from the Sunken Elysium and beyond it. However the further she traveled by sea, it became very clear. From this perspective, all look rather, mundane, similar and uninspiring.
She paused for a second, pensive. Her fins crossed as she considered what to do next. The glimmering silver crossed with the coral pink trident held fast in her mouth. The silver chain falling and rising as the ocean current moved past her.
As she closed her eyes as to think harder, something pushed past the little shark. Levi span around, the long chains spinning with her.
“Hey! Hey! Hey! Get’s outta ma’ way, will ya!”
A harsh voice spoke from just ahead of her. A dark and slightly blurred orange splodge in the clear blue.
“Fortunes are here to be made’! Ya know, ya know?”
The orange shape became clearer as the curious but slightly irked shark moved forward. Long orange tentacles flapped around the brown body which seemed to be made of some kind of pottery. Smal;l barnacle-like creatures stuck to the outside. Cold yellow eyes peered out from the shadows, deep within.
Levi tilted her head in the water, unsure of what he was talking about. “Does you’ze mean likes’ uh’ sunkun’ tweasure or somefin’ like that?”
“Hey! Hey! Haven’t you ever heard of a real treasure. The art of the gamble? Oh come on, what you been doing living under a rock. Follow me! Come On!”
The Octomon sped forward, the long tentacles flapping behind it. Levi following behind, confused and now rather curious. It came to a sharp stop and pointed with a tentacle up into to the waters surface.
“Right there! That’s the famous, the most amazing and most elegant place that one can win some money anywhere! The 5¥ Casino. Well, see ya kid! I’m gonna get rich everything I always wanted!. I’ll catch you when I’m the richest octopi on these waters!”
“A casino-w? What’s iz?”
It appeared that in his excitement, he had failed to hear this final question. Without another word, the Octomon shot up through the water, like a cannon ball. Out of the ocean and out of sight,
Partly unsure, but also partly resolute in her choice. She rose up following the Octomon, allowing her shark fin to stick from the water. Then, she put her head above water completely. The waft of salt from the sea air hitting Levi’s nose for probably the first time ever. Or at least that she could remember.
This was when Levi got her first sight of the first but also largest, tallest and quite imposing building she had ever seen. It alongside the coast, taller than anything around. She blinked several times, trying to take it all in. But found herself dazzled by the many bright lights.
“Levi looks in the Casino-w? Me finks?”
Tentatively, Levi followed the Octomon. Launching herself out of the water and splashing down, literally, onto a long stretched out red carpet that led into the tall building

For someone who didn't understand the lights and buzz of the 'high roller' life, a casino of this extent might come as a bit of a shock! The 'theme' of the day was suiting to the red carpet that a certain fish had flopped onto, looking as if it had popped out of a fancy movie. Classical, high-class furnishings decorated the place in golds, woods, and of course velvety reds!
Shorely, the shark would be able to see the doors of the building open to each newcomer that approached, which would inevitably include the octopus that she had followed! And then, more inevitably, herself! Unless she was close enough to the Octomon to enter simultaneously with them!
Subtly, someone would slip out and try to pat the wet carpet a bit with a towel. Which, wasn't actually Levi's fault at all! Or, at least, not entirely. The cons of a casino on the beach, right?
And, at the door, a little Terriermon in a labcoat stood. Admittedly, she didn't fit the décor in the slightest! But, that was okay. She was just covering someone's break anyway. Not that the patrons knew that, but it's all that Ela had to keep telling herself. They'd probably be less than five more minutes! Hopefully! Maybe! Otherwise, Kuu would probably return with yet another attempt to change the labcoat into a tiny tux, which the scientist was not having! She was a bunny of science! Not of... whatever this was!
After a few shifts on her feet, the Assistant Terriermon noticed the shark at the door. "Welcome!" She chimed, reaching into her coat's pocket. Did the aquatic Digimon look a little lost? Maybe. Maybe Ela was that perceptive! Or, she just did this with random 'mons that entered! "Would you like a coin, to begin your visit with?" With this question, the bunny offered a single, golden token.
Who wouldn't take free coins, right?
"Maybe it's lucky!" Or, maybe it was a way to sell people on the games and get them totally hooked! Which, was definitely more plausible! But nobody would call out someone as teeny as the Terriermon. And, especially not for the ones that knew her association with the casino! That'd just be dumb!
With any luck, this tiny conversation might push Ela past how long she'd have to wait for the actual door-watcher to come back! It wasn't like this place really checked ages or anything, and bunnies didn't make good bouncers anyway! What was someone like her supposed to actually do, guarding a door, anyway?

For a moment, Levi pressed her flipper to her mouth as if in deep and concentrated thought. Unsure if she should enter such a large and frankly imposing building. The Octomon has vanished from view, clearly if had already made his entrance, while she was still considering.
Making her mind up, Levi stepped clumsily forward. Her feet slapping against the elegant red carpet, almost like the feet of a duck. Each step she took left a large, wet footprint on the carpeting.
As she stepped forward, a troop of Troopmon appeared as if out of nowhere and began to pat the wet carpet dry. It was clear that they had done this many times before. Although, some of them appeared to be grumbling under their breath as she did so.
“First. A octoguy, now a shark.”
Levi didn’t hear this however, and continued forward. Her feet continuing to slap against the carpet, nosily. The Troopmon following, now silently, a few steps, behind, each with a fancy and expensive looking towel in their hands.
The little shark blinked several times as she approached the main doors. A small, rabbit-like digimon stood next to it. It wore a long white labcoat. Unable to stop herself, she tilted her head as she took in this most curious of sights. Of course, as a digimon of the sea. Levi was quite mesmerized and interested in the unusual looks of these land-based digimon.
The little bunny rabbit digimon welcomed Levi with a great deal of friendliness. After which they offered a coin to the little shark. Levi merely blinked again. A little confused.
“What coin iz? Levi eat coin?”
Before the Terriermon could stop her, Levi raised the coin to her mouth and take a bite out of it. The casino’s entry was filled with the sound of metal striking the hardened teeth of a shark. “Yucky. Levi no like. No taste good.”
She spat the coin out into her flippers and looked momentarily disgusted. Now, even more confused. Levi looked past the entry doors and caught sight of an array of even more memorizing colors, digimon and objects that she had ever seen before in her short sharky life.
“What casino iz? Levi, no understand”
“Levi, from the ocean,” she said, pointing a flipper-like hand from herself to the depths of water that lay beyond the beach.
“Levi is shark,” she nodded, revealing her teeth as she opened her mouth in a wide smile.
“Levi, make friend wiff small bunny rabbit in’za fancy coats?!” She tilted her head again and waited for the little bunnies reply.

It was such a good thing that those Troopmon were such troupers! Even if they probably kind of hated their job sometimes! Could anyone really blame them? Cleaning the hazards off a rug by sand and water, catering to creatures of all shapes and goops, they probably had to deal with far more than their pay grade could ever be!
Oh well. At least Ela didn't have to deal with it! Granted, Ela wasn't actually paid, anyway. It's kind of what she got, for more-or-less freeloading off the owner. Granted, at this rate, she might even ask for a raise on her non-existent paycheck! As a scientist, the idea that a sea digimon didn't know much about the land 'mons didn't even cross her mind!
A concerned hum buzzed from the bunny's throat. Only to quickly escalate into, "wha- n-!" in a frantic attempt to stop the shark from chomping down on their shiny new coin. It was too late. There was no way Ela would have dreamed of stopping someone from eating their currency! Then again, there was no way she'd have dreamed this would have been the outcome of giving someone any! Suddenly, Kuu's eating habits were starting to look normal. Luckily, the coins seemed to have been thought-out. Likely because of Kuu's eating habits. So a rookie chomp, even from a shark, probably wouldn't do too much more than a little dent! Still totally usable!
Still, the Terriermon couldn't help but be floored at what she was dealing with here. Mouth was slightly parted, and an, "uhhhh," emitted constantly, while Levi talked. Oh no. This was worse than Kuu, wasn't it? Could Ela handle worse than Kuu? Did someone really not know what coins were? Or casinos? Or want to be friends with bunnies in fancy coats?
Wait.
Friends?
The consistent 'uh' turned up a pitch, before finally shutting down, as Ela seemed to process everything that had just come her way. There was a pause, while she gave the shark a once-over with her eyes. Levi? Levi was her name? And, Levi was probably not going to turn her into bunny stew? Luckily, as long as Levi did not suddenly decide to digivolve, Ela wasn't too concerned about the shark trying to consume her. All dangers aside.
"Sure," Ela nodded, with wide eyes, "but bunny with the fancy coat has a name too! Ela!" Best introduction, right? Except, now she really needed to acknowledge every other part of the conversation that she hadn't yet!
Making beckoning gestures with both paws, Ela scooted into the casino a bit more, and off to the side to try to get her and her sharky pal away from any incoming foot traffic. How was she going to explain everything else? Where was Kuu when she needed him? For a moment, she'd look around. No dice. "For starts, coins aren't food," she insisted, with a nod. "D'you not pay for stuff where you're from? It's how you buy things! This coin's special, to use in the machines!"
Good start! Totally a good start! "And casinos!" Oh, this is where it got complicated. Ela shuffled a bit, to look over the machines. "You use coins to gamble," did Levi know what gambling was? Oh no, this was going to be hard. "Or guess! To see if you can guess right and make more coins! Then you can buy stuff with the coins! Like food!" Everyone liked food!
"Has," Ela paused, almost unsure if she wanted an answer to the question she was about to pose, "has Levi never been out of the ocean?" If not, this might be quite the adventure!

Levi merely blinked foolishly as the bunny rabbit in the coat looked back at her. Failing to realize that her attempt at friendship whilst a little strong and forward perhaps, had confused the rabbit who then introduced herself as Ela.
“Ela-fwend? Okay?” Levi said, holding out a fin as if to shake.
Soon, they had walked deeper into the casino, by the ushering of Ela. Levi found herself almost blinded by the sudden onslaught of color, and lights. Light that burst from machines from all sides. A great tidal wave of noise washing over her, unlike anything she had ever heard. A barrage of ringing, dinging roulette. Occasionally the gentle ring of money falling into the lower tray as winners won.
“Levi confuzed, again,” the little shark admitted.
Clearly overwhelmed by such an onslaught to her sense far beyond and different to anything she had ever seen in her ocean home.
Ela began to explain the use for the coin that Levi had been given and now held ever so tightly and then tried to explain gambling. This too all went over the shark’s head. And once, more, Levi’s head tilted to the left as vast confusion mystified her.
“Levi neva see the above land, before. Levi, Sunken Elysium.”
She pointed a fin at the ocean as if trying to explain that she was from the deep, deep, deep undersea world. Literally as far down as it was possible to go.
As the little bunny rabbit in the coat continued to try and describe gambling to the blank-eyed shark, her head tilted to the left. Failing to take much of their words in.
Although from behind their short back, on the nearest machine to the doorway. Sat the pot-headed octopus who Levi had met at the entrance. All of the long orange tentacles moving with a ferment vigor. One spiraling around the handle which activated the machine. The rest placing the coins into the slot in turn. However, it seemed that it wasn’t going well for the Octomon. Their once excitable and brisk attitude degrading as coin after coin fell into the machine.
“GAH! ITS NOT FAIR. ONE MORE! OKAY! JUST. ONE. MORE,” it could be heard muttering.
Levi merely tilted her head, her confusion merely growing. She clutched the small coin in between her fins as if it was her first-born child.
“Levi confuzed. Why Octo-friend angy?”
Without another word, Levi moved slowly over. Quite duck-footed and shakily as walking was quite different to swimming towards the aggravated octopi.
“Octo-friend? Okay? Did no good?”
It appeared as if the Octomon had not hear nor taken in her words. So focused was he on trying to work the machine.
“Huh, no I don’t want a drink. Leave me alone,” Octomon said, waving a tentacle at Levi and Ela.
“Levi confuzed? How machine work? Do Levi bite bad, mean, meanie machine?” She asked, turning back to Ela and baring her teeth in a slightly menacing manner.
She didn’t like the fact that the machine was causing trouble for a “friend” even though they had, actually, only just met.

Surely, the duo would make an interesting pair of friends. A bunny and a shark. Who would have thought?
Ela certainly hadn't. But again, another rookie wasn't all that intimidating, so she would try not to think too hard on the pointy teeth of her new companion. "Okay!" The rabbit would confirm, before using her nubby bunny-hand to take the fin into a shake. With any luck, there would not be a taste test involved in the shake!
The thought of someone getting a horrible case of sensory overload didn't occur to the tiny scientist, as she began her introduction of the lights and sounds. Or of money. "Well, what's confusing?" Surely, Terriermon could clear things up! She just needed to know where!
Except the problem seemed to be that the answer was looking like 'everywhere!' "Sunken Elysium?" There was a pause, as the gears that made up the bunny's brain would screech to a halt. Levi had literally never been out of the water? Oh. Oh this made things so much harder to explain! "Ela's never been there," was the first thing she could think to say, unsure if using third person was just a quirk of the shark or actually somehow helpful, "can't breathe under the water." But there was probably so much to explore! So much learning to be had!
But, Ela wasn't the one that was supposed to learn anything right now! Levi was! "Have you ever seen sunken treasures? With chests and stuff full of shinies? Coins are sometimes in those, like the one you got!" With that, she'd make a gesture to the well-guarded token that Levi carried. Would it help at all? Did Levi know what a treasure was? The bun probably had her work cut out for her.
Granted, explanation time was going to have to be put on hold! At least, on the topic of money! It seemed the aquatic digimon recognized one of her own nearby, that Ela recognized as having entered shortly before. "Huh?" Head tilted, while she slowly turned to follow the shark, up to the tentacled monster playing the slots.
At least he knew what he was doing. If he was good at it was another story.
"I'm not gettin' you a drink anyway," the bunny mumbled, lowly. What, did he think she was a servant? This was a labcoat, not a waiter coat! Get some glasses! ...If those would even fit, considering the pot-helmet.
Wait, wait, wait. Bite? Oh, no. Nono. "Please don't. Biting machines is mean!" Did the machine feel? Not at all. But mean seemed to be clear in Levi's vocabulary! "You, uh, you feed the machine! The coins?" Ela made a gesture again at Levi's token, then motioned to the slot in the machine that was clearly meant to fit the item. "And the machine-it's," how did she explain this?
"The machine gets happy and the stuff in it spins!"
It seemed that Ela wouldn't have to struggle too much longer! Naïve, meet dumb. Alternatively known as Kuu! The Kudamon slowly began sliding down from the top of a machine placed beside Octomon. "And then it suddenly stops! And if it stops in a good spot, you get more tokens! If it stops in a bad spot, you lose 'em." Just how long had the pipefox been eavesdropping? Ela hadn't even seen him pop up, until the rambling began!
"Machines don't choose where it stops though, so it ain't their fault if your Octo-friend isn't winning." Judging from that, Kuu had been here for the whole commentary on Octomon! Perks of being tiny and squishy enough to fit in weird gaps in the machines, Ela supposed. "He'll win eventually, probably, so don't'cha worry!" Or, he'd go home broke. One of the two!
Not that Kuu seemed worried at all. Instead, he began flexing his toes (claws?), while staring at the shark, "I like yer flippers, by the way." Flippers? Fins? Hands. Whatevers. Kuu liked them. "I always wanted flippers," he added, dreamily.
"Since when?"
"Since like now. What are you, flipper-police? I didn't know I always wanted them 'til I saw some!" Duh!
Flippers weren't in the cards for Kuu, however. So instead, he'd have to live vicariously through someone else. Like this new shark that his friend was hanging out with! "I'm Kuu. I like food. Did you know, if you win lots of coin-stuff, you can exchange it for stuff you can use to buy snacks? It's so good. You can also buy other stuff but I prefer snacks. Unless it's funny stuff. Like that time I got a cushion that made fart sounds." Well, that was possibly the most vague explanation in the Digital World, of trading coins for money, and the purpose of money once acquired. There was no way someone was going to follow that train of thought. "I ran outta coins though, so I gotta wait to get more food 'til later." The kitchen was probably quite thankful that Kuu was a terrible gambler! But, would the Kudamon's talking make any sense to the sea-dweller? "Speakin' of. You gonna use that token you got there?" No, Kuu. You cannot have Levi's token! It was the only one she had!
Maybe, it would be a sign that Levi should test her own luck! Before Kuu tried to tempt her into giving it up!

Unable to stop herself, Levi’s head tilted to the left.
The vast amount of information that she had gathered in just the past few minutes was enough to make her tiny shark head spin.
In a confused manner, Levi looked from the machine, to the bunny and then down to the flat circular piece of metal between her fins.
Levi opened her mouth as if to answer, but then closed it. Unsure how to continue that thought.
She needed to feed her coin, this coin! This coin that she had been gifted and allowed to guard. This piece of treasure given to her by a new friend. To a machine?!
To Levi, this all seemed utterly ludicrous. Her head continued to tilt ever more dangerously to one side. So much so that she was likely to fall over at some point, from the shift in balance. However, before this could happen. A new voice emerged as if from nowhere.
Long and thin. Almost surrounded by a bright white glow that seemed to only intensify by the heavy lights in this place. This new Digimon looked down at Levi from atop the nearby machine. Next to the one that the Octomon was using. She had not even seen this Digimon appear, but listened intently as it continued to explain about the machines and what to do with the coin.
“Happy? Levi make happy?!”
These words had a profound effect on the little shark. Her large yellow eyes seemed to glimmer with excitement! She liked to make people happy! Especially friends!
Once again, with a look of intense concentration upon her face. Levi looked from the small gold coin, to the machine and then to Kuu and Ela. She pressed a flipper-like hand to her face, almost pensively.
As she thought, a noise of coins falling into the machine along with the handle being pulled down. Followed by annoyed grunts, were clearly audible. As another coin dropped, the Octomon made a noise somewhere been a hiss and a moan.
This caused Levi to tilt her head once again. “But, not happy?” She pointed her flipper at the Octo-friend looking confused.
Although Kuu continued on, explaining that it was random and the fault was not with the machine. It was merely the luck of the draw, as it were.
While she was thinking the long white digimon and the labcoat wearing bunny rabbit digimon appeared to be talking to each other. Although, not much of their conversation was caught by the confused, deep in thought shark.
“Levi, think… Levi use… Then, Levi use??” Her manner of talking was confusing to be sure and the fact that she failed to grasp money and how it can be used to buy things was a little problematic to be sure.
Either way, she thought hard and after a minute of even more intense thought. Levi climbed up onto one of the tall golden chairs, padded with a soft red cushion. Now, she was eye to eye with the brightly dialed machine.
It was very bright, just like most of the room that surrounded her. There were three spinning dials upon it. Each dial seemed to have different digimon drawn on it. Levi tilted her head, once more. Watching the dials rotate.
To the right of the dials was a golden handle topped with a red ball. From what she had seen of the Octomon, she had to pull on it and then grumble a lot.
But first, she needed to put in the coin.
“Levi confuse...”
The little shark turned her head and watched the Octomon working at top speed. His system was perfect as well as fast. The long orange tentacles zoomed, pulling the handle and inserting the coins into a thin, black crevice in the top of the machine.
“Pfft… stupid machine,” the Octomon said. “Rigged piece of… What are you looking at? I’m busy here. Use that coin or LOSE it.”
The pot-headed octopus turned to stare at Levi, clearly annoyed. Levi tilted slightly but snapped her head back. She then looked to Kuu and Ela.
“Like dis?”
She reached up and placed the coin tentatively against the slot, with difficulty due to her fins. But the coin fell resolutely into the hole and vanished.
“Levi, sad now,” She muttered, watching the sliver of gold vanish.
“Levi miss friend-coin.”
But it was no time to be sad. The dials began to rotate at great speed and lights flashed on each side, almost dazzling the little shark.
“Now, Levi. Do the pull!”
She reached up and with even more difficulty, pulled down the lever. It dropped decisively into place and then jumped back up.
The dials continued to spin and then, one-by-one… slowed and stopped. The icons atop the dials fell into place. In order, they were two Agumon and a single Devimon.
Levi tilted her head as a noise sounded from the machine. Then, a compartment at the bottom of the machine opened and spilled, three coins out.
“WOOOW! Levi, three friend-coins, now!!” She said scooping them up and looking down at them as they lay on her flipper.
From the machine next door, a loud noise like a deflating balloon sounded. Followed by, “pfft, beginners luck!”

Leave it to Kuu to speak shark. A small sigh came from the labcoat-rabbit, as she subtly shook her head. She was clearly not built for this kind of job. Scientist, not a teacher. Granted, Kuu shouldn't be a teacher either, but apparently he was more apt for this level of learning!
"Super happy!" the fox nodded. Luckily, the sea-dweller seemed to understand the vaguest concept of it all! Even if it meant that her octo-friend was surely going to rage-quit eventually!
The Kudamon gave her Octomon pal a long stare, before doing the best shrug that a noodle could do, and looking back to Levi. "You win some, you lose some." Literally! "Maybe he'll get happy later!" Even though it wasn't looking too likely at the moment!
Unfortunately, not even Kuu could grasp the confused Digimon's speech. "Think, use, use?" Nope. Nothin'. For a moment, the holy beast would find his brain out of commission, just attempting to figure out a proper response. It was fine, though. It really didn't take much to confuse the relatively uneducated Kudamon.
On the bright side, Levi didn't really need Kuu to think when it came to her using her coin! Octomon gave enough of a 'nudge' for that! But, one part had gotten caught in the pipefox's head! "Our machines ain't rigged, you're just not very good at winnin' stuff." Harsh truth from a tiny fox!
Leaving Kuu to pout in the direction of an octopus that probably wasn't keen on external input, Ela gave an encouraging nod to Levi. "Just like that!" And then? The coin was gone! And... Levi was sad? Oh. Oh no! But before anyone could give consolation to the shark, she was suddenly game!
And luckily, she won the game! Er, sort of, at least! Three coins was far better than whatever would have happened if she lost entirely! "See! Sometimes the coins bring friends when the machine gets super happy!" Yay, happiness! "You could do it again and see if you get even more coin-friends!" But, would she? She seemed to understand that there was a risk coin-friends would eventually be no more!
Yet again, Kuu was distracted by grumpy cephalopods. "I bet it isn't!" Not that he had anything to actually bet! He'd already admitted to losing all his coin allowance!
Stealthy, Ela leaned closer to Levi's seat to quietly whisper a very important question, "are you actually friends with this guy? He seems kind of grumpy."
Then again, Kuu's tamer seemed kind of grumpy a lot of times too, and they were still friends with her! But, most of her grumpiness was a direct result of her partner, so it wasn't like Ela could really blame her!
