"Hmm." The younger General rubbed his chin while he considered the options, now that the opposing sides had gone and challenged and accepted a new 'war game.' It was certainly refreshing, facing another general in these exercises that could be more complex than a straight spar. It was tempting for simplicity's sake to be sure, but now that Tadayoshi had a new respect for what both sides could do when they gave it their all, he wasn't inclined to light up the sky for it. Angel's suggestion was intriguing.
"Let's say it's capture the flag. We'll divide the island in two, and in each half both sides may place their flag wherever they choose within their half. The objective is to bring the opposing flag back into your own territory by any means." The two sides, if in agreement, would go on to iron out the rest of the rules and the nitty-gritty from the boundaries to the combat to a public safety announcement that Tadayoshi thought he'd better mention. "And please, if you are a X4 attacking a rookie... please practice some control." Just then, Tadayoshi thought he had accidentally identified a handicap for himself: he wasn't sure he could trust Angel with a strong fusion.
Once both sides agreed on the terms and the appropriate amount of taunts and trash talk had been exchanged ("Oh, this is gonna be too sweet. Silence has its secret weapon this time!"), the captain his general rallied their troops by their own shoreline. They used their limited grace period to talk about strategy, formations, and how they all wished they had more time to eat their barbecue.
Capture The Flag
-Island is divided into two sides -Flags can be anywhere in one's own territory within one kilometer of the shore/ground -Game ends when either army brings the opposing flag across the dividing line -Digimon who get touched or hit ("tagged") in enemy territory have to return to their own side before coming back -Digimon on either side holding a flag who get tagged must drop it where they stand. -A defending digimon who drops their own flag can't move it again unless every invader who hit them is tagged -If a Xros digimon is tagged, all members of that fusion are considered to be tagged even if they unxros

'Capture the flag'. Angel and Guru discussed the idea off-hand, and Tadayoshi seemed to take to it pretty well.
"Honestly, I'm not even sure of X-4 or X-5 is the best thing to do with these sorts of rules." After they had discussed the terms, the Renamon furrowed her brow, trying to think it through. "I mean, if you're considering what it means to be 'tagged', its easier for a smaller Digimon to score a hit on a larger target."
"On the same vein, that makes it more difficult for Team Silence to use any of their vehicle forms." Past that, though, Denryu would raise his hand, motioning for his team to 'kill the comms', as he gave a nod towards Tadayoshi. It was a little past 12:30 PM at this point, and seeing this, Denryu added one more stipulation: "We probably won't be in easy earshot of each-other, so let's make the start simple: we'll start the game at 1:00, without a call-out. Until then, neither team should be anywhere in the other team's territory."
With that set up, it wouldn't be long before the two teams would be spread out, and left to individually strategize. This was an uninhabited island, save for the sparse wildlife, with a beach surrounding the perimeter, with a 'thinly wooded' area in the middle. It was immediately tempting to try and hide the flag somewhere within the foliage...
... Which was why Angel looked on in astonishment as Denryu planted the flag, on the beach, only ten yards away from the far shore. "Seriously, all that, and you're going to take it this way?"
"Relying on hiding the flag makes it less defensible. No, for this, I'm going to rely on a simple attack-defense team - this is a perfect chance to test your recon."
"... Right." That was an option: the Renamon gave a nod, as three cores - one of the Reppamon, one of the BladeKuwagamon, and one of the Ancient Wisemon - sunk into her frame. The Reppamon's mask soon adorned her face, a blue scarf blowing in the wind, as she rested her gauntlet right on the pommel of her blade. Coupled with this, the Renamon looked down at the back of her gloves, seeing her reflection cast back upon her.
X4 - Renamon "Specter"."Going with a form we haven't tested yet?"
"Its better we push on offense than defense. That said..." He aimed his Xros Loader towards the Devidramon, two cores sinking into his frame. His missing arm was soon filled out, a familiar visor slipping over his face, as powerful metal wings replaced his tattered ones.
X3 - Devidramon "Adamant Demon". The monster gave a snort, and positioned himself ahead of the flag, as Denryu gave a nod towards Angel.
"Make sure you're near the line right at the top of the hour - but stay just out of sight if you see anyone else there."
An X4 has been made for offense - Specter, a Xros of Renamon, Bladekuwagamon, Reppamon, and AncientWisemon. An X3 has been made for defense - Admanant Demon, a Xros of Devidramon, Kokuwamon, and Mailbirdramon. Knightmon remains in the Xros Loader. Denryu and Adamant Demon remain on defense - Specter pushes for the border, before round start.

"All callsigns on me! The exercise starts now!" Every digimon on Silence knew better than to be late to a rally call. The only one who didn't double time it to Commandramon's side was Rashi, whose perfectly good excuse was that he was a purely aquatic creature who couldn't so easily follow onto land. For him, this discussion happened in ankle-deep water, and even then he was only able to join the conversation by practically beaching himself.
The dolphin digimon queried, "Wait, I thought that didn't start yet?"
"We can't cross sides yet. The game itself, however, starts now," Tadayoshi clarified.
"Orders?"
"Kamushi, you know what to do."
The Searchmon couldn't grin without a humanoid mouth, but everyone knew the spirit of a grin was there. "You mean eaves drop on the - bzzz - enemy and learn all their - bzzzzrt - deep, dark secrets? Coming right up!" The little bug digimon started fiddling with the angle of his dish and rotating it, looking for just the right frequency to listen in on.
"Deckerdramon, I'd like you to wait just offshore and hold that position. You'll be on flag defense. Jetmon, Jekyll, Hyde, and Hagurumon?" All of those digimon knew what happened when their named were called together; they were the ones who made up WarPteramon, who became a fused digimon right there. "Wait until 12:55, then take off. Your main job is surveillance; don't engage unless you must."
"Sir," she acknowledged.
"Specialist, anything?"
Kamushi reported in, "Guys, if they were talking by comms, I'd have - bzzzz - caught it by now. I got nothin'." Anything that Metal Drive might have said over digital comms might have been intercepted by the Searchmon. The problem for Silence was that the other team wasn't falling for that trap during their planning phase.
"I guess that would have been too easy. So, moving farther from the beach, let's post Scorpmon near the border, just on the edge of the trees." That was when Tadayoshi created Scorpmon. "From there, maybe you can help on both sides of the line. You could defend our side, watch over theirs, or even defend our attacks from their defenders." What Tadayoshi didn't have to tell him was to be undetected getting there. Commandramon would head off right there so that he could move slowly through the shadows of the trees and just maybe settle at the edge of his territory without being spotted.
"Dakota and the MetalKoromon?" These were the components for the ninja digimon Turuiemon. "If you wanted to get involved, now's your chance. You're leading the attack team-"
"-Whooo! That's what I wanted to hear!"
"-Which also includes Angel."
Turuiemon's enthusiasm died down pretty quickly as a BlackTerriermon materialized by his side. "Fine. Come on, Angel, we're gonna take 'em from the side. Think you can keep quiet 'till we find the flag?"
"They better have
This was when the Rukamon noticed he hadn't been assigned a role. He was the only digimon without an assignment, which was often the case but never very uplifting. He wasn't going to speak for himself, but to his shock the General had something for him. "And maybe the most important job... I need you to be our flag bearer."
Despite being practically beached, the dolphin flopped around excitedly. "Really, Yoshi-Yoshi? I get to be part of the mission?" It wasn't easy getting the childlike Rukamon to calm down enough for Tadayoshi to slip a flagpole in his mouth. The overstimulated dolphin continued to try and ask questions with his mouth full, but they didn't sound like coherent sentences. Nonetheless, Tadayoshi tried answering them.
"You're the last line of flag defense. Stay far away from the shore as deep as the water lets you within the boundary to avoid being seen. Keep moving or, if you find a good place to stash the flag down there do it. Really, we have to trust your judgement for that. I know you can do it." On those words, the dolphin gave more happy squeals and flops before turning back and swimming offshore, taking the Silence flag with it.
At this point there was no one else around, but Tadayoshi spoke aloud to himself anyway, "And I... suppose I should get ready." Tadayoshi thought he'd better settle in some hiding spot in the woods where he was equidistant from either end of his side of the field. Hopefully he didn't have to do too much running, but if the plan was going to change on the fly then he'd better be ready. At round start:
X3 Scorpmon attempts to hide at the edge of the wooded area on his side of the island but near the border. X3 WarPteramon is in the air over her territory, surveying the island. -[NON-COMBAT] Recon Sight: While out of combat, this digimon can access a vision mode that gives her both telescopic vision and the ability to see others' digital signatures, much like the sixth sense for other digimon's presence but with the range of her sight. This lets her zoom in and out with vision at high resolution as well as see digimon signatures even if they're hiding in thick foliage, tall structures, fairly deep underground, or other similar obstructions. The concentration this requires makes it too difficult to use in combat. Champion Deckerdramon submerges himself just under the water's surface on defense.
X2 Turuiemon and Angel prepare to sneak across the border at the opposite edge of the woods from Scorpmon. Rashi carries the flag offshore deep underwater.

Right. 'Kill the comms'... tch.
'Specter' understood the reasoning, but simply going deaf to communications was a disadvantage all its own. It would have been more comfortable to be able to freely communicate the location of her opponents, or even get updates from Denryu about the condition back at base.
As for how the situation looked in the middle of the woods, right at the border? Honestly, the X-4 couldn't see much. Specter took to the center, while Scorpmon took to the perimeter - and without any knowledge shared between the teams, it was likely that the two were going to simply slip around each-other. Back at base, Denryu's own strategy hadn't changed. Unlike Team Silence, Denryu simply kept the flag firmly planted in the sand, the General standing a bit behind it, 'Adamant Demon' keeping his position in front. The demonic dragon gave a snort, eyes continually scanning the beach in front of him. "No detection in the woods... you rely on me too much."
"Don't put it that way." Denryu gave a sigh, looking up over the foliage. WarPteramon made a good recon unit, but such a large, flying Digimon was easy to spot in the air. WarPteramon was still strictly over Tadayoshi's territory. "Are they going to charge... right at start?"
"... It could very well be a ruse to draw your sight-line upward. Keep your vision steady and look for disturbances in the foliage." The General kept calm, looking briefly down at his Digivice. The moment 12:59 turned to 1:00... ... The operation would start.
And right at that moment, Specter would make her move, sprinting right through the middle of the border, drawing a straight line for the beach in Tadayoshi's territory. Ordinarily, such a straightforward dash would be picked up on WarPteramon's sensors - if not for Specter's dangerous trick, 'Phantom Warrior'. The mega-level's movements were silent and quick, and most importantly, Specter did not exude a data signal at all.
If WarPteramon was expecting to look for a 'glowing spot in the woods' to alert their team, they would miss Specter entirely. And if the team at home was relying on WarPteramon to be in position to defend? Well, they might run into a problem when a mega-level pierced through their territory, and ended up right at the middle of the enemy beach!
No techniques used. Demon remains on Defense. Specter runs it down mid. Relevant passives - Specter: PASSIVE - Phantom Warrior Renamon 'Specter' exudes no data signal and moves soundlessly.Relevant passives: Adamant Demon: PASSIVE: Armored Flight Compared to a normal Devidramon, 'Metal Demon' has stronger wings, able to use them at ground level as cover and able to reach higher speeds in the air.

Silence communication channels remained open, and so the recon bomber was able to quickly relay her report across the whole island: "Talon One: I've got one sig on the farthest edge of the beach. Unknown classification." Of course it was unknown. It was a body she had never seen before made of a conglomerate of different digimon. The fact that said body was a bright green spot on her vision did not help her more specifically identify it. But she could still slightly give less specific hints by sight alone. "Devidramon as base. X3, going by sig strength." While it might have been more difficult for other digimon to put a precise power level on it from this distance, that was much less an obstacle for WarPteramon. Without the aid of the curvature of the planet, it was very difficult for any digital creature to escape her eagle eye. She also noted, "Enemy general also present. Primary objective is on the ground at their position. Scorpmon, adjust overwatch ten degrees right."
It was a good thing that Metal Drive wasn't trying to hide their flag, because it didn't take long to find. Even still, where it might have been ideal for them if Silence had to go in blind, the army's proud eye in the sky delivered the intel far enough ahead of time that there was a chance for a more sophisticated approach. The lieutenant's advice quickly came in handy, as with her advice the sniper knew exactly where to look to fit a scope on the defender's position. "Visual contact," he confirmed with a mumble. No thoughtless shots with the human so close. It seemed that he had yet to be noticed from this position, and if so that was just fine by him. This was a good place to activate his DRM and chill out for a spell. He'd go on to inquire in a low tone, "Anything else, lieutenant?"
"Nothing to report, sir."
Across the island, many eyebrows raised at once. Tadayoshi was the first one to point out the obvious: "Can that be right? Why would Metal Drive send no offense and keep a single-digimon defense out in the open?"
"I smell a trap."
Fortunately, the trap became apparent very quickly. Where Commandramon feared a defensive ambush to simply overpower Silence's attack team, it turned out the ruse was actually that a digimon had finally done what was thought to be the impossible: Specter passed completely unmolested deep into enemy territory. By the time WarPteramon could break the quiet and report the intruder, it was only because "Visual contact, tango straight down the middle! High speed, Renamon base and unknown level - no sig, sir! They'll reach our shore in seconds! Deckerdramon, straight angle, zero altitude."
"What?"
"Hold fire and continue to monitor." WarPteramon ground her teeth as she banked to avoid crossing her path and hopefully not become a target.
Deckerdramon silently froze from his slightly sunken position close offshore. It was a highly disciplined thing that not everyone on the team could have done when it looked like an unknown digimon was sprinting right at you. If they got much closer they ran the risk of being discovered against a foe of indeterminate might; on the other hand, if they could look around at the open beach and see for theirself there was no flag around, maybe they wouldn't feel the need to get that close.
Meanwhile, on the attack, Turuiemon and the BlackTerriermon Angel were making brisk but comparatively slower progress behind enemy lines. They knew they couldn't concern themselves with what was behind them just yet. "Alright, trigger, here's how it's gonna go: I get the flag, you make a mess. Everybody wins." Turuiemon knew that was the only way to sell the plan to the local wild child. Before they were too deep in opposing turf the rabbit hissed, "Break off and make a scene toward the middle. I'll use my little trick 'em for the flag."
"About time I get off the leash!"
And so it was. Besides Scorpmon, the other of the pair of digital resonance maskers was in Turuiemon's posession, which he hoped would help him hide as he got low near the edge of the vegetation along one flank. All in all, it was looking pretty peaceful at Metal Drive Beach until some overzealous little rookie broke stealth with a hearty, "Unholy Hand Grenades!" Angel had absolutely no reservations about throwing a pair of fragmentation devices by the feet of Adamant as she charged out the treeline. WarPteramon continues to circle over her own territory.
WarPteramon initiated Recon Spot on behalf of Turuiemon, Scorpmon, and Deckerdramon.
-Recon Spot: While flying over the battlefield, this digimon scans it and uses internal computer systems to call out enemy locations and predict enemy movements. This makes her and up to three allies 50% more accurate with all their attacks for three posts. Cooldown: 3 posts. Scorpmon held his position. Turuiemon stealthily advanced along his same path. Angel changed course and brazenly charged down the middle. Angel attacked Adamant with Unholy Hand Grenade. -Unholy Hand Grenade: Before anything, this digimon spins and summons grenades out of thin air as she does. Second, this digimon shalt she take out the Unholy Pins as she spins. Then, she lobbest she her Unholy Hand Grenades towards her foe, who, being naughty in 25 feet of the explosion whose damage is boosted by 50%, shall snuff it and suffer burns that shalt reduce reduce speed by making movement painful for two posts. Three shalt be the number of the post cooldown, and the number of the cooldown shall be three. Four shalt it not cool, neither cool it two, excepting that it then proceed to three. Five is right out. Deckerdramon held his position. Rashi continues out to sea with the flag, arcing slightly toward his territory's left flank.

'Detection by absence.'
If Denryu could chance using the comms at this point, that was the one thing he would have warned Specter about. Even if she didn't have a data signal, the mere fact that she wasn't at the beach on defense would give Tadayoshi's team a decent clue as to what was going on. Heck, the gears were already turning in Denryu's head:
"At this point, they're going to redouble their detection efforts and look for Angel. As soon as they figure out her location..." The General dug his feet into the ground, getting better footing into the sand, "They're either going to turn around and pincer her, or they're going to cut their losses and push us directly."
"Hmph." Adamant couldn't argue, keeping his attention forward towards the treeline. As far as the Devidramon could tell, things went just about as Denryu predicted, the Turuiemon barreling right down the center. Adamant growled, tensing himself to respond - but Denryu's command remained short and simple.
"You only have to hit them."
Ah - that was what they were going for? The Devidramon, with a snort, would grit his teeth and maintain his position. And as those explosives were tossed forth, the demon would drag its arms in front, furling up its wings to cover his front side - intentionally taking that attack point-blank. Potent as it was, it was still a matter of an X-2 against an X-3 - and Adamant used the strongest part of its defenses to blunt the blow, without moving one inch away from the flag.
Perhaps their plan was to move through the veil of sand in the air, and attempt to slip through a created blind-spot. To that, though, Adamant kept with the plan, and simply raised a single claw forward, crimson electricity crackling from his palm, before charging through its gnarled claws. Based on its appearance, it might have looked like the Devidramon was simply waiting to use that attack...
... So why did Denryu sprint off to the left, putting distance between himself and Adamant as the attack was being prepared? Whether it was Angel or some 'unseen foe', the moment that someone entered into Adamant's effective range, they'd be in for a nasty surprise. ... Call this a disappointment.
As Specter broke through the other side of the woods, the 'scout' saw nothing. No flag, no sign of any enemies - not a single object of note. Was Denryu wrong, did Team Silence make it a point to hide the flag in the hour that they had? At that thought, Angel shot a brief glance over her shoulder, to the WarPteramon.
Can't rule it out... I mean, they're not here. They're either all on offense, hiding in the woods, or underwater.
That said, what exactly was the Renamon supposed to do with such a wide array of information? That was when one of the 'internal' voices gave a hint:
Look at the sand here. Its like something big slipped offshore.
Well... son of a gun, that was a good point: it looked like at least one member of Team Silence went into the water. So their intent was to pick her off from offshore? Angel gave a sigh, clenched her right hand, and created what looked like an acorn, before hurling it up into the air.
In the next moment, it would split open - a wide-ranged 'shotgun' of Diamond Storm firing from that point, straight into the wake below. At this point, it was blindfire - Angel was looking for any reaction, any 'hint' to take advantage of.
Adamant maintains his position, and uses his wings to block. He prepares 'Crimson Arc', to automatically attack any adversary entering within twenty feet of Demon's current position.
Passives: PASSIVE: Analytic Visor As part of the Xros' structure, Kokuwamon's visor gives a continual display of the main body's state. Thus, Devidramon usually knows how to better take calculated risks in any given situation.
PASSIVE: Armored Flight Compared to a normal Devidramon, 'Metal Demon' has stronger wings, able to use them at ground level as cover and able to reach higher speeds in the air.
ACTIVE: Crimson Arc Combining the forces of electricity and darkness, Devidramon tenses a claw, charging it with electrical energy before thrusting the claw forward. The energy arcs out, drawn to strike the nearest enemy within twenty feet. One Post Cooldown
Specter, seeing no targets, uses the evidence left over by the beach to vaguely guess one opponent's position, and blindly fires 'Diamond Storm - Grenade' offshore, attempting to illicit a reaction from her adversaries.
Diamond Storm - Grenade An upgrade on Diamond Storm, Renamon conjures a seed pod into one of her hands, and hurls it into the air. After a short duration, a 'Diamond Storm' - a set of enhanced, sharpened leaves - erupt from the thrown seed's position, towards a target. One post cooldown.

Even after all that, the BlackTerriermon was still unseen? She'd expected to be dragonfood, but this was fine by her! This self-interested digimon couldn't be bothered to stay and watch the rest, especially with a very strong foe ahead. This, she thought, was the right time to cut and run. Once she knew she was comfortably out of earshot of Metal Drive, she reported in, "Nope, nope, bugging out. Gonna need reassignment, chief!"
"Ha, yeah, go ahead and run for all the good ya did me." Turuiemon hissed that over the radio at his partner, but when Denryu went to split, the ninja digimon's eye was drawn to it. Inspiration flashed. He thought he knew exactly how to get under the devil dragon's defense, and boy it better have worked. Things could be grim for him otherwise. There wasn't time to think; the farther Denryu ran, the worse Turuiemon's advantage got. He didn't wait; the 'enemy' general didn't make it six steps before the ninja closed a hand sign, then disappeared. If it happened just right, Turuiemon would be in a place where Adamant was most definitely not pointing his weapon... and a very confused Denryu would wind up in the middle of the jungle. "Cover me, Cap!"
On the opposite beach, the ruse seemed to be working near-perfectly. Specter evidently had no idea where to search for the flag. The problem? The great mechanical croc could not conceal his movements well enough to escape Specter's notice. He'd left a trail, and he paid for it. Specter got lucky on her first try, though there wasn't much to confirm that immediately after the spikes struck into the water. That only came a few seconds later, which was the time it took for Deckerdramon's limp body to rise to the surface and aimlessly float. Oh, he was fine in the long-term, at least fine enough not to devolve or degrade. However, his days defending a flag were about over.
"We just lost Deckerdramon!" When Tadayoshi heard that, he grit his teeth. Knocking out the strongest individual member so early in the contest was a major setback.
They've consolidated their fusions to brute force their way to victory. I expected something more complicated, but I suppose knocking them all out and prying the flag from a defeated enemy's hand is still a victory. On the other hand, Tadayoshi thought his plan to hide a mobile flag was the best possible answer to this. I wonder if their offense has a good swimmer. Into his digivice the younger general spoke, "Angel, regroup on me. Talon, engage, but prioritize your own safety."
As the camera cut back to WarPteramon in flight, she answered, "Confirmed, clear to engage. Stay out of the area." Her internal systems at this moment would cut the power to her special recon sight in order to divert the resources to targeting and weapon systems. She remained high and fast as she positioned her next pass straight over Specter's head. "Initiating a Bombing Run in three... two..." When a compartment in the jet's underside opened, WarPteramon let gravity carry the ordinance to ground. Specter was now the target of aerial bombardment assisted by computer targetting. As the action started to rise on both sides of the line, the ever-vigilant sniper digimon thought the time for him to act was now. He fixed his scope center-mass on Adamant by mounting the front of his weapon on a branch and initiated, "Digi-Ghillie," an ability that transformed his outside to look exactly like a piece of the environment. As he lay completely still, he was able to understand near-perfectly exactly what chameleon-like image he needed to project to become invisible. Between that and the digital resonance masker, he didn't think he would be detected any time soon even if poor luck brought a tango in his proximity.
That was partly why he felt confident squeezing the trigger. He was confident the trees between them would not be a problem because WarPteramon was seeing his sight in a small box within her own vision as if on a computer screen. He assured him, "I know what you're thinking. No breeze. You'll just graze one trunk with negligible trajectory interference. Fire when ready." Pip! A suppressor morphed into the rifle's end just as the trigger was touched; as the round flung itself from the barrel, it couldn't have even awoken a baby. But if it hit, so the thinking went, Adamant would be worried about a distant threat from the front, not from the space his general should have been in. If that wasn't how it went on hit, well, Commandramon still took a chip out of his equally-leveled target.
Deckerdramon was hit by Diamond Storm - Grenade. Deckerdramon was incapacitated. Turuiemon attempted to switch places with Denryu using Cross Substitution. -Cross Substitution: This digimon disappears in a puff of smoke, and so does one other digimon. When both digimon reappear, they'll have switched places in space. This ability may be used as a response to an incoming attack, and it can be used with another digimon, who is not willing, but it can only be used on a digimon on whom she has a line of sight. An unwilling target can attempt to resist through force of will. Cooldown: 3 Posts. WarPteramon attacked Specter with Bombing Run. -Bombing Run: This digimon attempts to fly over her target and drop a barrage of bombs from a hold in her middle which opens up to deal explosion damage. -Accuracy is boosted by 50% by Recon Spot.
Scorpmon activated Digi-Ghillie.
-Digi-Ghillie: Like a chameleon, this digimon becomes almost completely invisible by blending into the environment for two posts. Using another named ability cancels this effect early, and moving faster than a casual walk makes Scorpmon easier to see the faster he moves. Cooldown: 1 post Scorpmon attacked Adamant with Silent Snipe. -Silent Snipe: This digimon's rifle muzzle morphs into a suppressor. Then, he shoots at the opponent with a metal bullet to deal damage. While Digi-Ghillie is active: this ability does not take the post's action and does not disrupt the effect of Digi-Ghillie, but this ability gains a cooldown of 3 posts. -Accuracy is boosted by 50% by Recon Spot.
Scorpmon is invisible.
Cooldowns:
Unholy Hand Grenade: 2 Digi-Ghillie: 1 Silent Snipe: 3

"Well, color me surprised."
That worked? Seeing the Deckerdramon unconsciously float to the surface, Specter let out a 'tsk' between her fangs, eyes scanning the seemingly empty beach. She supposed it was possible that the Deckedramon was a vehicle type, and thus the flag might be inside some sort of compartment, but it was equally possible that there was another Digimon in the water holding the flag. Even as an X-4, Specter doubted her ability to properly handle an opponent underwater - at least under these limited rules. This 'not allowed to take a hit' thing is going to get annoying very fast.
Speaking of!
WarPteramon might have been a stealth bomber, but there was no hiding that quick fly-over! Specter grit her teeth, pivoting around to find an airstrike dropped right on their position. The sudden approach would make it difficult to simply evade the attack. They had to block something like this, without being hit?
"Don't underestimate a mega!" Specter more-or-less growled that out of adrenaline, forced to create an expensive answer to the situation. She'd raise a single hand upwards, and then a second hand towards an area of the ocean presently unoccupied by the Deckerdramon. The three bombs dead-on-target with Specter would shimmer, drawn directly into Specter's palm without detonating. The very instant they entered one hand, they would vault out of the other, at an upward arc, crashing and detonating against the wake.
Unharmed - and most importantly, unhit - Specter would slice through that maelstrom of sand, eyes trained upwards at the flier. Forget the flag: if they wanted to do anything here, they had to deal with that oppressive opponent first! "Hm?"
Denryu, of course, didn't expect his setting to change so drastically - and with his sprint, he'd end up bumping his shoulder into a tree-trunk, a crackling buzz in his ear given from the radio. It took a moment, and Demon's explanation, for the General to catch on.
And honestly? "Clever." What Demon was using was an attack that didn't require aiming, and would automatically strike anyone who entered its effective range, much like a Plasma Ball lamp. Instead of guessing it, Turuiemon made the correct assumption that Denryu himself would not be in range of his own Digimon's attack.
Now isolated, Denryu held out his Xros Loader, producing the Knightmon in front of him, a heavy sword cutting through the vines and foliage before them. "Any leads?"
"None yet. Since we're already here, we may as well set up a defense at the border." That left Adamant.
The modified Devidramon, sensing a shift in data signal, gave a low growl towards the Turuiemon. The purple bunny was by far the closest one to the flag, and just out of range of that electrical arc. Adamant tensed his claw shut, the electrical energy vanishing with a snap, as he turned to face his opponent. He'd square up, as if taunting a fight at point-blank range - but that was simply an effort of misdirection through intimidation. For if the Turuiemon entertained the idea of a fight, and met Demon eye-to-eye, he'd be met near point-blank by the fierce glowing eyes of Demon's helmet. If their eyes locked, a dark energy would seize through the champion-level's muscles, and force him still, making him easy to tag.
He couldn't respond to the sniper that could so easily hide its presence, however. That silent bullet would zip through and strike the Devidramon's right arm, Adamant growling as he felt it go limp.
"Tch..." That one definitely felt stronger than the last hit. Even if he wanted to do something about it, though, Adamant couldn't risk building too much distance from the flag. He had an idea - but first he had to get rid of this annoying bunny!

Of course they made eye contact. It wasn't that Turuiemon was stupid enough to push and shove his way to the flag; it was his natural reaction. He had to keep an eye on the defender as he moved to dive and roll right between Demon's legs. Ideally it would have been too late and too slippery a move for Demon to land a blow, but the rabbit didn't account for that Demon only had to whip his head around to stop Turuiemon in his tracks. In actuality, the rabbit successfully started the move to dive. The problem was that instead of tucking and rolling, all his body could do was plop belly-down and go limp. The defender could be confident this was the result of his own efforts when the invader spat out sand and cried, "C-can't move."
Bang! There was nothing suppressed about that shot. Commandramon thought he had a better idea of where to lay it this time since on the original impact, there was an aerial spotter who was able to tell him exactly, "Correct for slight left," to account for being left (from his perspective) of center mass. She'd also communicate to him, "You've over-corrected!" for the second shot, but that was because this time Scorpmon saw what he did to Demon's arm from there and instead targeted the opposite arm. Bang! Knowing he was all there was to cover Turuiemon in a vulnerable position, Scorpmon executed a third shot right after the last. He had waited to see whether his second round would go wide or else hit and cause some reaction to Adamant, then try and time the third just as Adamant steadied himself. This round was going low, for Adamant's right shin, and this larger round had some energy to come with it. It was almost good thing Turuiemon was stuck prone, because shooting a High-Velocity Penetrator round created a real risk of friendly fire even if it hit Adamant square. Hit or miss, the bullet would go on to punch a hole in the sand which went so far down that it would proceed to fill with water.
On Silence's side of the field, Angel had started her sprint back before Denryu's teleportation, and so she didn't have to worry about being intercepted on her way. She was able to cross the border and link up with Tadayoshi unmolested, then. "Yeah, cool. So that was fun. Loved facing an ultimate all on my own. How 'bout you?"
"They're using muscle and a direct approach to win. Scorpmon, can you safely come back to me?"
"No, sir," was the quiet, curt response over comms. As long as Turuiemon was engaged over the line, Commandramon was reluctant to disengage.
Tadayoshi accepted the answer without an argument. "Do it when you can, please."
"Wilco."
"In the meantime, Angel, standby. I'll work on a new approach." Angel had no hesitation about getting back in the Xros Loader, reluctant as she was to throw herself at this heavyweight fight. Angel (the other one) resisted being expelled from Silence territory, but stopping her from seeking the flag for any length of time was its own sort of victory. While it was a mismatch in terms of power, WarPteramon was confident in her part nonetheless. She would prioritize not getting shot down above all else, but that was no reason to quit taking shots now. The jet digimon had disengaged quick as she could from that last run, and it was fortunate that no counterattack followed. That gave her the confidence to make another overhead pass.No calibration required, she told herself, Payload was on target. All systems functional. With one defense exhausted, WarPteramon thought Specter's only escape from the next bombardment would be physical distance from it. Having analyzed Specter's movement speed and any patterns so far, her targetting system recommended different approach: an initial drop, followed by a second one with a slight bank in the direction she predicted Specter would try and dodge or escape. It was the same amount of ordinance, obviously, but with a tiny delay between two halves of the drop. "Initiating another run in three... two...

'Can't move'.
Given the rules of the game, all Adamant had to do was touch his target for the Turuiemon to be forced to retreat, and go back to the halfway line. With the rabbit immobilized, the Devidramon was able to turn his focus over towards the woods, towards where he felt like he was being shot from. The visor gave a buzz, speaking into Adamant's radio on Demon's behalf.
"Shooter! Looks like North-Northeast, Denryu. Should we -"
"Blindfiring is too risky." And with Denryu not knowing his own location after being shifted, it wasn't as if the tamer could easily offer support. "Kill the sight-line."
"Roger!" The radio would cut off, the Kokuwamon-visor speaking to the Devidramon underneath, directly. "You know what to do, big guy!"
The Devidramon didn't have much time to think as it was: he'd stomp forward, and move to clasp his foot-claw around the Turuiemon, with the intent of gripping onto him like a falcon. With that - and just as he felt a sting run through his other arm - the Devidramon's legs would tense, pushing largely off of the opposite foot. If the Scorpmon was taking aim through a sniper's scope, it might appear that his target simply vanished out of the Scorpmon's restricted sight, leaving him only a view of the flag left behind.
Scorpmon would have to look up, and even if he did, he'd be forced to look through the canopy of the woods, to see the Devidramon flying above - most likely with a reluctant Dakota gripped in his right claw. "Sorry, guy." The visor spoke, as Demon eyed the WarPteramon across the island. "Boss kept our most mobile guy on defense, to hunt down anyone who tried to simply fly over the line. But now if your buddy shoots, we'll know exactly where its from!" Denryu only risked a few words over comms, before once more shutting off the radio. Right: their flag defense was going to be lacking for the moment, and the longer Angel took, the worse it was going to get for her. Right now, this far out of place, the general had two options:
Rendevous back at the beach, or chance handling the sniper. As another shot rang out - this one without a silencer - both the Knightmon and Denryu had a more reliable audio cue.
"Proceed and pressure."
"Right away!" Raider, letting Denryu hop onto his back, would raise his shield and move outward, his sword splitting through the foliage, shield raised to cover his midsection. All Raider had to do was touch his target, and even if he failed, pressuring a shooter would make it much less likely that he could set up another reliable shot! Tadayoshi had it right.
If Specter had another person targeting her, like that annoying Scorpmon, there was likely very little that she could do about it. But if all she had to do was handle the WarPteramon, Specter could get used to her opponent. After the first bombing run, the draconic machine turned for a second pass - and tried for the exact same assault! This is getting us nowhere, fast.
Well, he won't be able to hit you underwater!
Guru had a point! Specter would grin, and would run off 90 degrees from the WarPteramon's path, making as straight a path towards the coast as she could. And as the bombs dropped towards her, likely from the machine altering its trajectory, Angel would kick off into the air - vanish from sight - and would reappear ten feet further along the path than predicted. Thick smoke and sand would soon fill the air, once more obscuring the beach, as Angel gave a grin.
No direct hit. And if nothing stopped her, she'd run right off the coast, swiftly making her way into deeper waters!
Instant Reflect: 1/3 Crimson Glare: Ready
WarPteramon had a decent guess - but, unfortunately, Specter has three defensive tools. Angel made a bee-line for the edge of WarPteramon's effective range, and used Kohenkyo to make up the additional distance, before trying to make her way underwater - to directly look for the flag.
