An Unfortunate Beginning (Vetina/open)

Yaku watched her drink, slightly worried. He thought Vetina had told him this place was filled with food, but the way she drank was almost like she'd gone thirsty for the longest of time. "Wait... time flows differently here? ...That... doesn't make sense. Time's an illusion, but it's a consistent one, at least..." As he continued talking a bunch of in-training and baby digimon seemed to be surrounding him, looking at the unusual man, tugging on his pant leg, climbing atop his shoes, adorable things like that. He didn't notice, and just kept trying to brush them off like there was only one of them still there.
"...Dragons? They have those?" The man asked, worried. "What kind? The chinese dragons or the knights in armor ones? Oh man... How big do these things get, anyway?" He asked, before her question about a Digivice came to him. He began checking and double-checking his pockets, but found nothing. "Erm... no, I don't... is that like a new kind of cell-phone?"

”It’s a little bit less consistent, or rather your perception of it swings a lot more. Sometimes days feel like weeks, and other weird inconsistencies like that. It just changes up quite a lot I think.” She pull Zarph slightly up her in arms as she did so, aware of several younger digimon surrounding the both of them, and the tendency of them to just bite things to see what they where. Sort of like a puppy.
”Oh, all types I think, you could probably find a digimon which is pretty much anything, they go in the water, air, underground, anything.”
”No, it’s more of a thing which I thought that anyone who managed to get to this world got. It’s what lets me look after Zarph, something which connects the two of us.”
She was interrupted at this point by Zarph suddenly waking, a particularly energetic Koromon managing to bounce high enough to latch itself onto one of his tails.
”OW” The digimon suddenly woke up, wriggling himself free of Kirsten’s grip, and landing below on all fours, right next to her feet.
”Didn’t anyone teach you not to bite?” He grumbled at the Koromon, a couple of sparks flickering from his tail, before Kirsten’s hand landed on his head, Kirsten reaching down to comfort the irritated, and probably tired digimon.
”It’s OK, he’s just a baby.” By this point the Koromon had began to hop off. ”Sorry ‘bout that.” She said, looking back up at Yaku again, while standing back up straight.
”Who’s this?” Zarph asked, also looking up towards Yaku.

The businessman frowned, trying to recall any "missing children" posters featuring her, to no avail... guess he'd have to find out the time flow by himself in that case. He thinks and looks at the sky, trying to ignore the fact it was torn open to try and spot flying Digimon. Then a thought struck him. "How many Digimon would you suspect are in... our world? The real world? Human world? I dunno how to differentiate this place from that... and thanks for making me stick out more than before..."
Yaku frowned as he looked down to see Zarph... and the dozens of baby Digimon. He tensed up. "Aaah... shoo... go away... shoo, get along..." He stammered, not wanting to harm any of them and cause a ruckus. ESPECIALLY if their parents were anything like then things that were passing them on the street. Last thing he needed was to have his kidneys wrapped around an Angemon's staff, especially if this place didn't have doctors... actually, that was a good question.
"Does this place have hospitals... you know, just in case?" He said, barely keeping balance as he tried to step out of the bundle of young digimon to no avail. "A-and I'm Yaku... Tridori Yaku... p-please don't hurt me..." He said, surrounded by the curious monsters with no clear way out.

”Oh, probably loads. Some of them have a certain….knack for just blending in. I mean, they all come back here every so often, but some do venture out into our world. Mostly harmless of course, just the occasional misunderstanding and chaos.”
Zarph was still staring at this stranger, propped up on his two back feet, regarding him with caution. Yaku didn’t smell like he belonged here. He smelt…….lost. Did lost even have a smell? It should have, it would make things significantly easier in situations like these.
Kirsten meanwhile was trying to think about whether there where hospitals or not in the digital world. She didn’t think so, and then if there was, given the huge lack of opposable thumbs, she wouldn’t trust a large majority of the inhabitants to be competent enough with medical equipment to actually perform any kind of hospital based task.
”Err, I don’t exactly think so, I wouldn’t imagine it would be safe either. But I guess there should be bandages somewhere around, that’ll be possible.”
”What are you planning on doing now? Now you know about this place I mean?”
Hopefully Yaku wouldn’t plan on being one of those crazy people who planned on revealing this world to the real world. She’d probably have to stop him from doing that if he tried.

Yaku moaned, thinking back on so many national/natural disasters the country had been through. How many of those were caused by a digimon that people just... forgot about? Maybe they were covered up? It would seem understandable that the government would want to hide something like this from everyone. A different world filled with monsters, untouched wonders, dangerous and curious locations, plentiful food and water... actually, maybe they should try and keep this place a secret from everyone but poor, hungry countries. That'd solve some problems, but now his mind was wandering again.
He tried to push away the tiny digimon who were looking him over, eeping and breathing deeply as they began biting his legs and clinging on. That's when she told him about the hospital situation, leading his to let out a gasp of air. "That's... unfortunate..." He said, trying to pull off the DemiVeemon who started this off of his briefcase. "Because I could really use some help right now..." He said, not so subtly hinting about his situation.
"I... I was hoping to bring my wife to have a cheap, fun vacation in this exotic and... different location but..." He looked around. "I'm not sure her heart could take it now... I... I guess I'll just keep quiet until I absolutely need to... I just hope I never will."

”Oh, Zarph, chase them off or something.”
The Elecmon grumbled slightly, hopping back onto all fours, and walking towards Yaku, slight bolts of electricity flickering between his tails.
”Oi, shoo.” He growled, not particularly sure what else he could do. He could fire off a couple of bolts, but he suspected that Kirsten wouldn’t be too happy when he managed to give Yaku a shock in the process. Then she’d complain, and he wouldn’t be able to sleep. Also he might get less food.
”Go on, grrrr.” That should do it. At the very least give those babies something else to concentrate on.
Then Kirsten heard about Yaku’s plans.
”Aw, that’s cute. But yeah, dragons and whatnot. Kinda dangerous, kinda a shock to the system.” It was a semi adorable, semi suicidal plan. As far as Kirsten had figured out, things in the digital world could flip in an instant, something would go wrong and you’d find yourself having to run away from insects several times your size. Certainly not somewhere you’d go to get a little sun. Was the sun even real here?
”You got any other plans then, going to stay around and look around for a bit?”

The little digimon finally left Yaku alone, going away to wherever they came from, letting the japanese businessman have a bit of relief other than the comic kind. As Yaku did his best to brush the digimon spit off his clothing and suitcase, he sighed happily, wondering if he could possibly get one of those for a pet... then he realized they'd probably resent that and prefer to be treated like adults rather than small dogs, he was probably just better off having a child instead.
He noticed Zarph seemed to have an easier time speaking japanese than Kirsten, at least, from what little he spoke. He wondered if he taught her Japanese or if she taught him English. Either would be equally unusual, in his opinion but if something happened at least he knew he could hold a discussion with the mon.
"Yeah... it's probably good that I came here first before making the decision... hey, do you know a way out of here? I mean, no offence since you're... living here you said, right? But I just want to get out as soon as I can and forget this whole thing... I mean, it's pretty and all but... I think I'll have to work up the nerves to stay here longer than a few hours..."

Zarph had successfully managed to scare off the younger digimon, and with pretty much no effort. Now he was just bored, and tired. Trotting back to Kirsten’s legs, he turned around to face Yaku again, plopping back onto his hind legs, sitting on Kirsten’s shoes. Apparently this lost man wanted to leave now, which he was perfectly fine with. Less humans normally meant less action, and therefore more time to sleep.
”I guess you could go find a the train, it’ll send you home. I’m not too sure where it is though, but there’s a station somewhere in the city. I imagine that there’ll be someone that will know.” Kirsten’s knowledge of where things actually where in this world was fairly bad. She didn’t have that good a grasp of the locations of things too well yet, only really knowing the very direct area around where she was sleeping.
At least Yaku hadn’t either panicked or decided to do something stupid. It was unusual to see someone so much older in this world, and she’d never considered the consequences of people who actually had obligations in the human world knowing about the digital world. Thankfully at this point, everything seemed to be ok enough.

Yaku frowned, having honestly hoped for more of an answer than that... but it made sense, considering she didn't seem to really want to leave the Digital World. What this meant for her mental state would be another discussion entirely. He noted that Zarph seemed to stare at him a lot and it kind of unnerved him.
"Right so... if I go to the train, it should take me back to the human world? I imagine that if Vetina told me correctly that this place is a mirror of the human world the station would be somewhere in this district... I think... in case it's not c-could you accompany me?" He realized how creepy that must have sounded. "I-i mean, can you follow me, keep me safe? I don't know this place like you do and I could hardly handle a bunch of... those tiny bitey things, I doubt I could deal with anything really dangerous. Plus... Zarph, right? Zarph could help us... just... tell him to stop staring at me like that. It's um... rude..."
"Oh, are you done with that drink?" He asked, hoping for it back. "It's just that it's my favorite flavor and they usually only sell it in one store... And earlier you mentioned that thing connects you?" He pointed to her digivice. "I-I don't get it... does it like... um... is it like a... I... I don't know how it could if it's not a cell-phone or a pager o-or something..." He cleared his throat, trying to collect himself after that little event. "...Now..." He took another deep breath. "I... does every human that come here get a digimon? A-am I the first one not to?"

”Yeah, it’ll send you back to the station in Shibuya.” Kirsten stated. Hopefully. She was 99% sure that there would be a train going back to the human world. ”And…I guess, though I’m not sure where you’re going, it’d be just as difficult for me to find the station. And besides, nothings going to really attack you in the city, not for any lasting damage other than a fright. Most of the digimon just want to get along with whatever they’re doing, as opposed to going out of their way to interact with a human. They seen enough of us for it not to be too much of a novelty to the older ones.” She wasn’t hugely bothered about having to accompany Yaku, but at the same time didn’t want herself to get too lost. She’d probably find her way back eventually, but at the same time, wandering aimlessly she’d likely have to take the same amount of time searching as she did then searching in reverse.
”Oh, he’s just like that, a little defense. Zarph, quit scaring him.” The Elecmon responded, giving a quick glare, before dropping the eye contact, ears picking up as he simply surveyed the nearby area.
Kirsten tossed the bottle back to Yaku upon being asked.
”It’s a digivice, it’s what lets me look after and keep control of Zarph. And yeah, it’s kinda weird, everyone else who comes here seems to get one, but normally they’ve already got a digivice before they arrive.”

"OK, Shibuya... I should be able to walk from there. I'll tell my wife... something, depending on what time it is when I get back... a-and it's a train station. All we have to do is find some tracks and follow them, it doesn't seem complicated... but still, it's so much better to be safe than sorry..." He reassured with a cautious smile, hoping not to look like a creep.
"O-oh he didn't scare me... it's just... where I come from, staring at someone is seen as the same as um... sh-shaming them..."
Yaku barely caught it, placing it back in his case.
"I... and here I assumed I was the normal one..." He said, chuckling softly to try and cushion the joke as he began to wander the city. Little did the man know this was just the start of a grand misadventure. Not grand as in "grand old time" where people generally agree it's good, but rather grand in scale, like a whale or a giant squid compared to a normal cat or dog. Anyway, Yaku's tale was just beginning, and little did he know that he was only a few sentences into the prologue.
