Things weren't looking very good for Juni. And even though Elly was scared, she couldn't help but watch. And she gasped when she got hit and they started hitting her over and over again. "No... no... no..." Tears started to form in her eyes. Junko was kind of mean, but she was also kind of nice, too? Why were those two being so mean to her? That was just being a bully!
Elly... Was there anything Elly could do? Sure she was scared, but... Junko was probably even more scared than she was right now... And Elly didn't want someone to be that scared! So... maybe... there was something she could do! She reached into her back, pulling out a single stuffed animal. With shaking hands, she unzipped the stuffed rabbit, pulling out a slingshot she kept around. Picking up a nearby rock, she stretched the band back and aimed carefully at the scary masked monster's head. But she needed to get him to face her for just a second.
"P-p-please leave her alone, b-b-bullies!" She cried out as loud as she could, which, wasn't very loud, but it was still the best she could do! And she fired off her rock bullet towards the Baromon's third eye, on the center of his forehead. Maybe... Juni could get away while he was distracted? But still... Elly was worried. Papa said never to shoot other people with her toy. Did this mean she was gonna get in trouble?
Meanwhile, the two strange creatures near her looked towards the action and gulping. He looked from the little girl's reactions, to the violence on hand. "So... we should do something, right?" The lizard asked.
"Absolutely not! It's none of our business!" The turtle responded. "We should just hide around until it's all over and... Wait, where are we going!?" The Shoutmon began pushing the Kamemon towards the action, the Shoutmon jumped atop the Kamemon's shell to glide across the ground, coming to a stop right in front of the boy and Baromon.
"Excuse me, pardon me, We interrupt this beatdown of a defenseless human to bring you this message!" The cyborg turtle announced. "And that message is... Mic! Give them the really important message!"
"Right! So a Gotsumon, a WarGreymon, and a Leomon walk into a bar, and..." And from then on he proceeded to tell a fantastical joke, full of ups and downs, highs and lows, and of course, a satisfying punchline. This may in fact have been the greatest joke that's ever been told. So much so, that anyone that was able to hear it would suddenly heal a great amount.

The teaching of the whole situation? Kids could be pretty amoral, if prodded the right way. But, it kinda made sense, considering the situation the group found itself in. Juni’s wasn’t ideal, the explosive gift she was about to receive wasn’t going to make the situation any better.
For all what the teenager knew, that might be the last gift she was going to receive. Ever. Yet, there were no signs of giving up on Junko’s gaze; if anything, she stared at her assailant so intensely that he flinched for a split second. Regrettably, at least for the time being, that was one toothless threat.
Or, was it? In a valiant gesture, a certain blonde seemed to refuse to acknowledge that would be all she wrote. It happened fairly suddenly; as Baromon got ready to deal the coup de grâce, Elly’s timely intervention managed to distract Baromon just in the nick of time for the rock to hit him squarely in the face, making him step back while huffing. “You runt!” Despite being a digimon of few words, Baromon’s seemed to carry quite a bit of weight with them. In what was probably a flash of erroneous judgment, the digimon turned towards the blonde, and began to conjure flames in her direction instead.
Luckily, that wouldn’t be the only timely intervention of the day. A duo of lizards would interrupt the ongoing events and find it fitting to try and… tell a joke? Granted, the teenager could barely make out what it was about in her half-conscious state, but both the hostile kid and digimon had apparently found it funny? Not like it had changed their disposition any, but at least it seemed to be a decent distraction.
Junko’s train of thought quickened; the fog that pain and exhaustion had previously cast over her mind was progressively being lifted, and that made way for a whirlwind of emotions, from which the most intense was, obviously, anger. While an emotion that she tended to experience on a daily basis, this time it flared almost as if it had life on its own.
It was fair to say that this was the second highest amount of distilled anger she had felt in her whole life.
Her eyes jolted open and promptly bored onto the boy’s face. It was true that he had made some steps back, but he still was very well within arm’s reach. His leg was taken hold of, a disgusted expression on following the gesture. “You got your spirit back, huh? Let’s see about that.” Another quick was aimed squarely at her side.
But she stopped it with her spare hand. The girl’s eyes narrowed slits as yellow irises silently seethed with rage. “Ya better be fuckin’ ready, brat.” The low, menacing tone was followed by a yelp of surprise as a flash of bright light enveloped Juni’s body, a sickening crunch, and a scream of pain.
Once the glow faded, what remained was a small, ball-like digimon that was firmly gripping the boy’s arm… with her teeth. Such a scream alerted Baromon, who registered the situation before finally setting for aiming at the MameTyramon.
“Ya sure ya wanna do that, asshole?” The digimon responded, her teeth still firmly embedded on the boy’s arm. “Ya do so much as t’move a fuckin’ finger, and I’m tearin’ this brat’s arm off. Yer choice.” That did the trick, at least for now. Baromon didn’t show any signs of hostility anymore, at least for the time being
While true that the teenager wasn’t usually this violent, the truth was that the situation, plus the sudden change the evolution had brought managed to push her to the brink. Right now, Elly had a completely different set of problems ahead of her; well, at least if she considered them as problems. At least from Junko’s current perspective, things couldn’t be going better.

Elly's face went pale as she witnessed what just went down. The Baromon was poised to kill her with fire, only for the cyborg duo to interrupt and tell a joke. Afterwards, Juni managed to get up and it looked like she was feeling a little better. And then... she turned into one of those monsters! And then she bit down on the boy's arm so hard he was screaming in pain. And then she was holding the boy hostage! That was bad... right? That was what bad people did! Good people didn't turn into monsters and threaten to "disarm" children! So Juni had to be a bad person, right?
But then why did the boy attack Juni for no reason? Wouldn't that make the boy the bad guy? And Juni was nice to Elly, even if she wasn't very nice at first! Didn't that make Juni the good person? And now there were some other cyborg monsters nearby and they seemed like they were panicking, too! Were they good people, or bad people?
"Hey there! How about we all take a sec to cool our heads? How about no one attacks anyone else for the rest of the day, and no one tears off limbs of little kids!" The cyborg lizard stood in between the Baromon and Mametyramon.
"Mic, I think we should mind out own business here..." The turtle tried to warn the other one.
"DJ, I don't think we should!" Mic responded, gesturing to Elly still hiding behind the rock, a wide-eyed look of terror in her eyes as she stared at the MameTyramon making the other kid suffer. "Come on at least don't brutalize the kid in front of the other kid! Let 'em go! I think he's learned his lesson, don't you? Would you like to have seen this kind of violence if you were as young as she is?"

The situation was unbelivably tense, and for more than one reason. For what had probably been the first time since the confrontation began, it could be said that the fight was either in a stalemate, or that Juni had the upper hand. Whatever the case, the means employed to achieve those ends had been rather unsavory, and it wasn't a surprise that those caused a commotion among the more impressionable half of the beings involved.
Yet? The girl-turned-digimon was too angry to heed to reason, and had fallen victim to the most basic survival instincts that inhabited in the core of every living being. The only things she knew at the moment were that she had almost been roasted by the Baromon, and that this was probably her best bet at surviving this encounter. She wasn't going to lie to herself, though; the sensation of her teeth sinking into an asshole's arm felt fairly good; no denial of that one.
However, that sadistic glee, just like the situation's adrenaline, would eventually subside, leaving a less primal, yet still pretty angry Juni in the face of this situation. Flip side? At least she could be reasoned with. Well, at least somewhat; her eyes danced between the Baromon, the lizard, the turtle, and Elly while Mic spoke. Eventually, the grasp of her jaws eased before she threw the injured kid aside, almost as if he were a rag doll. One final whimper of pain was heard as he fell into the ground.
"Alright, alright." A heavy, raspy sigh followed that statement. "Let's just-
"Now!" Even before Juni could end the phrase, a bolt of foul-looking energy careened towards her small frame, impacting with her directly. A shrill cry followed as she impacted the floor and began writhing in pain. Baromon, in the meantime, teleported right where his tamer was and lifted him up.
"You haven't seen..." in between labored breaths, the boy spoke, "The last of us, Shinohara. We'll be back."
Cheesy. Junko probably would've responded, but she was too busy with the side-effects of whatever had been thrown at her.
"That will teach you some manners, boorish human." There was a measure of smugness on his voice. "We will see who's the brat next time." Without saying another word, they disappeared, seemingly into thin air.
In a sense, the Shoutmon had been successful at ending the hostilities, and everyone had survived. Sure, Elly was likely traumatized, Juni seemed to have been the victim of a particularly nasty attack and some kid probably had a broken arm, but those were just details, right?
How was she faring, anyway? After a couple minutes, the MameTyramon finally stopped squirming in agony, as the light of devolution enveloped her body. A very confused and angry human emerged from it, gazing aroud from her spot at the floor until her eyes threateningly locked onto the lizard's.
"Well, I sure hope y'all 'r happy with how that one went." While noticeably bigger than the tiny terror, the girl's stature was noticeably shorter than anyone who cared to remember her previous height; twenty centimeters at the very least. The clothes she had been wearing looked a fair bit baggier than usual, but she hadn't noticed that detail just yet. Not to say that she looked quite a bit younger than before. "Wait. How did y'all get so big?"
It was probably gonna be quite the surprise.

And then Elly just stood there, dumbfounded. Juni had turned into a monster that bullied the bully that was bullying Juni, and then she returned to... not quite normal. She was... smaller. Maybe still not as small as Elly was, but... plenty small compared to how tall she was previously. Elly was outright flabbergasted at the sight. She had never seen someone shrink like that before, let alone turn into a horribly scary monster before that!
But thankfully, the two cyborgs near Juni seemed to know what was going on!
"Wait... what's going on!?" The cyborg lizard asked aloud. Well, maybe one of them knew what was going on!
"I have no idea..." The turtle answered... Okay. No one seemed to know what was going on anymore! "Well... maybe she got so hurt, and if she Digivolved into a Digimon, maybe she expended all her energy and became a baby human form!"
"Oh, that makes perfect sense!" The lizard, Mic praised his reptile sibling. He walked over to the newly smol girl and patted her on the shoulder. "Don't worry, missy! I'm Mic the Shoutmon, and my brother DJ the Kamemon will look after you and your friend until you get your strength back! We're not really known for a muscle, but... we are force to be reckoned with! After all, haven't you heard of the sublimely sublime entertainment duo..." He jumped back to land besides his brother.
"We are the legendary entertainment duo... Tha Boyz!!!" They made a few unnecessary poses, like they were trying them out for the first time.
Meanwhile, Elly looked on at them with visible confusion in her eyes. They were monsters, sure, but they were also... kind of stupid-looking. Not that Elly would say that out loud.
Elly was a good girl, right?

An strange conclusion, even though quite far from what the worst case scenario could've been. Least to say, Elly wasn't the only confused human at the scene; it might be due to the fact Juni still wasn't quite aware of what was going on, but she still had a hard time processing why everything around her was so big now.
And, just as one would expect from a human that wasn't quite aware of her situation, the girl glared at the turtle that had been kind enough to give a totally comprehensible explanation! "Kay, dude. Jus'... slow down with t'fancy terms 'n begin explainin' stuff like, y'know, what t'heck 'digimon' 's spossed t'mean."
Sure, she had evolved twice already, but Junko was still a complete stranger to concepts behind this world and its denizens. Right now, this was like trying to explain math to somebody who doesn't know what numbers are. "Whaddaya mean with 'baby human'!?"
She seemed particularly angry at the phrase, but everything was slowly beginning to fall into place. Reaching into one of her pockets, the girl brought out her phone. Sure, the signal was dead, but at least the camera worked, right? It only took her a second to switch the thing to selfie mode before the situation hit her like a freight train.
"T'fuck!!?" Hands slowly went through the extension of her face, checking that, indeed, there wasn't some kind of weird optical illusion in place. "I... I became a brat!?"
She exhaled progressively angrier huffs as she walked with some difficulty to the spot where the Baromon had previously stood, then stomped so hard she left a small dent on the ground. "That asshole's so fuckin' dead. He better think this' t'last he saw from me."
Some emotions were hard to contain for Juni; if it hadn't been obvious enough, anger was definitely one of those. Nonetheless, and given their peculiar situation, she was more than inclined to believe that these people weren't weird cosplayers, and that something was definitely afoot here. It took her a minute or so, but when she finally calmed down, she returned to where the group was, only to be reassured by a green lizard, of all things.
"Ya call me missy again, 'n I'm rippin' yer arm off, got it?" She made no effort to prevent the pat, but Juni's glare was so intense it was probably proof enough of how serious she was being. "It's Junko. Never shorten it. 'N never use nicknames. We'll get along jus' fine if ya do."
Despite the initial friction, these guys proved to be somewhat likeable, even if they looked and sounded like a pair of pushovers. They'll have to do for the time being, though; the girl gave them a nod before walking in the blonde's direction. "Ya fine, Elly?" She asked, the smallest hint of concern in her voice. "None o' those fuckers injured ya, right?"
In the face of a positive response, she'd turn back to the digimon duo. "Nice introduction 'n everythin', but mind answerin' some qs for me? Like, what are you? Or... where 'r we, xactly?" That'd be a good starting point. "Oh 'n, if y'know 'bout a place where I can get some clothes so I don't look like friggin' Dopey, that'd be great."
They could pose as much as they wanted, as long as they did something productive while doing it.

Elly could barely watch as things... sort of worked out... but not really. Junko was small now. But she still seemed like the same. And if Junko was small like Elly was, and could still be strong and brave and stuff... then could Elly be like that, too? She should try it!
"I'm... I'm not hurt...!" She declared, only managing to stammer her words a little bit. Stupid language barrier. Stupid soft voice. Stupid timid personality. Now that she wasn't a monster anymore... she was nice again! Though she still seemed angry!
And as far as Junko's intimidation tactic went? "Yeesh! You're pretty scary for a kid! But I guess I 'missy'd the mark' on that nickname, didn't I?" The lizard gave Junko an easy grin, but decided to step away from the kid. For reasons that didn't have to with being intimidated by a small human child. "But... If you don't know what's up with this world, then look no further for answers! For the great duo of DJ and Mic will let you know everything you need to know! Now if you'll excuse me..." The Shoutmon dashed over towards Elly, scooping her up and then setting her back down next to Junko.
"Now if you'll excuse us, we'll now present to you the Fabled Tale and Tragedy of Vice and Shellman, a 'Tha Boyz!!!' production!"
The Kamemon suddenly retreated into his shell, as the Shoutmon put his microphone up to his mouth as he announced,
"A long time ago, in a world separate from the humans... there existed another world..." Mic leaned over and began to slowly spin his brother's shell as if he were a spinning planet. "This planet was known as the Digital World. However, this world, instead of being full of a bunch of naked squishy flesh people, this Digital World was inhabited by various creatures of data, taking the forms of all shapes and sizes. Digital Monsters... also known as... Digimon..." At this point DJ the Kamemon emerged from his shell and stood up on his own two feet.
"And this tale, that takes place in the Digital World... began as any other story worth telling would..."
After that, there was an overly convoluted three-act play took place. There were a slew of unnecessary characters, and so many shocking reveals that didn't really serve a purpose. Also a love triangle that didn't seem to make sense considering this was a 2 mon show.
And it all culminated into the final scene. Mic was standing over DJ, who was lying on the ground because he was dying or something. The Shoutmon held onto the Kamemon's hand. "Vice!" He cried out in desperation. "Vice, you can't die on me! We closed the portal to the Human World, but if you die, I'm never going to forgive those cruel, filthy humans that did this to you!"
"It's okay, Shellman..." Why was the Shoutmon playing the character named Shellman instead of the Kamemon? No one could be sure. "But you can't blame the humans for this... When it was us Digimon that did this to ourselves..."
"If only I could have seen this coming, then maybe I wouldn't have to see my best friend die like this!" The Shoutmon lamented. "But how can I live like this, knowing the two of our worlds will forever be separate? However can we make peace now?"
"You must... use your genius inventing skills to create a device, Shellman..." The Kamemon replied.
"Yes! My genius inventing skills that was well-established much earlier on!"
"Yes... and you must create a device that will one day bridge the gap between our worlds. The two of our worlds aren't ready to meet just yet, but maybe, just maybe... we can learn to coexist... one human at a time..." The Kamemon slumped over, supposedly lifeless.
"Vice? Vice!!!" Mic yelled out in anguish. He stood up, apparently already over the death of his friend or lover or whatever he was. It wasn't established very well. "I understand, Vice... I'll invent something the humans can use so that they can belong here alongside the Digimon. And I'll name this device after you... So that when peace between our worlds finally comes, you'll forever be responsible for it, even if no one in the world remembers who you are!"
He picked up a nearby rock and held it up as a prop. "And I shall name this device... The Digivice! And with the last of my power, I'll create and algorithm and hack Yggdrasil itself, using its godlike processing powers to grant these devices to worthy humans! And one day, these compatible humans will bridge the gap between our worlds, just as you always wished..."
Mic let out a deep breath, then looked directly at the two girls. "And that was our presentation of The Fabled Tale and Tragedy of Vice and Shellman!" He and the Kamemon gave the pair a bow. They were curious to see their audience's response!
Except for Elly... she couldn't really follow along with any of it and ended up falling asleep, leaning over on Junko as she gently snoozed.

Well, if there was a bright side to this shitty situation, at least that one was that Elly was uninjured. Having to deal with that would’ve been an extreme pain, especially now that carrying her around would prove to be a little bit more difficult.
“Thas good.” She commented offhandedly, ruffling the blonde’s hair a bit. “Ya did good today.” Succinct, but way more than what anyone usually got from the girl. Of course, such a mushy moment couldn’t last forever, given Mic and DJ’s intromission. An eye roll was the only appropriate response to such a bad pun, but at least the duo seemed like they were willing to explain what was going on…
In their own way, of course. Which involved an extremely high amount of chaff and not a whole lot of grain, up to the point where Junko was probably more confused than before. How much had that tale taken, even? She couldn’t fault Elly for falling asleep on them; Juni was kinda sleepy as well.
It was fairly late too, wasn’t it? “Cool story.” Sarcasm was somewhat clear in the girl’s words, but the fact that the sentence was punctuated by a yawn probably helped make it less serious. The night was upon them, and, just as you’d think, the current temperature was… fairly unoptimal.
“Ya guys look like y’all ’r cold-blooded.” They were two lizards, after all! Hopefully they worked like normal lizards as well. “’Nyone got a blanket or somethin’ to keep warm for t’night? Else we might’ve to move somewhere else.”
She wasn’t thrilled at the notion of sleeping under the stars, especially in an alien world and with a kid that might or might not get sick fairly easily. However, even if the lizards proved to be completely useless, Juni was sure she’d be able to figure something out; worst case, at the very least they would be able to carry the slumbering Elly around if they needed to move. With any luck, they’d end up with an acceptable, or at least a non-harmful sleeping environment.
Tomorrow would be an exhausting day, for sure. Chances were that they needed all the rest they could get tonight. [Exit]
