For a supposedly high tech city Harper had to wonder why they would leave this descent into hell freely available. The woman stood at the top of a wide set of stairs leading down into a dimly lit corridor at the bottom. It looked like she might get robbed just going halfway down with how unkempt the passage was compared to the streets of Terminus. This being her first trip to the Digital World, she had been pleasantly surprised so far at how friendly most people, and digimon, were.
"Confused humans must be a normal thing here, I guess," she said with a frown. She held out her device, already forgetting the name of it because its spelling made no sense to her, her new digimon loading phone thing, and sure enough the screen's pulsing light flashed a little faster. The game of hot or cold was easy enough to understand, but why did it have to lead her down into the underbelly of the city she wondered.
"Survived three years of engineering school only to throw it all away in a dark subway stuck in another world," joked the redhead dryly. "Can't say I'm not curious, though; whatever's down here must be more exciting than working at a gas station, too."
Without knowing anyone from this world there was nothing left to do but see for herself. She didn't get to take more than one step down however until the faint sound of screaming could be heard from down below and out of sight. It was the frightened cries of one person, a male, that much she could interpret. The way the noise echoed in the dark hallway down below made the scene all the more ominous, though.
Harper slowly retreated back up the step she had taken to stand at street level again.
"Of course there'd be screaming," she said with a resigned sigh, her expression looking extremely conflicted now.

Having been in Terminus City for a few Digital World days, Akitsugu could immediately tell that the decisionmaking power of the Terminus City Council was, in fact, at it's prime in that it was more scatterbrained than a hyperactive Jazamon.
That's the conclusion one would get after learning that there's a portal in Old Terminus that occasionally spews out eldritch horrors and other assorted weird stuff. "EXCLAMATION! OH SHIT! SCREAMING! WE APPEAR TO HAVE ARRIVED PRECISELY IN TIME TO PERISH HORRIBLY. I AM EXCITED!" Java exclaimed. Whether or not there was actual elation at this was anyone's guess. And it would probably be a good estimate no matter what.
The volume of this creature as well as her strange aphorisms seemed to be grating less and less over time. As if it was something one could get used to. Of course, the mention of screaming actually gave Akitsugu some pause on the steps leading down there. Right at the same point someone else was there. A lady with red hair and an interesting choice in apparel.
...Not like he could talk there, really.
"Any bets on what's down there, miss?" Smooth. But also matter-of-fact. "Because the job I took advised that there might be things that are not meant to be looked at down in that."
"BUT ALSO, IT MIGHT BE COOL. C'MON."

Hana was a feeling frustrated that their digimental hunt wasn't bearing any fruit, so Data had suggested that they take a break and dos some work to earn bits. He had neglected to mention, however, that the job involved crawling down into some spooky catacombs.
"Spooky." Rush said, noting the obvious.
"Next time, I'M picking the job we do. This sounds like the set up for a horror movie." Hana grumbled, a shudder running through her at the thought.
"Sorry, Hana. This just seemed like the only job available that we were legally qualified for." Data replied.
"Whatever. Let's just get this thing over with." Hana stated with a sigh. The sooner this is over, the better.
Hana's thoughts were soon interrupted by the distant sound of screaming. The trio quickly took off towards the sound, only to arrive at the stairs leading to the depths of Old Terminus. The Tamer and her partners were not the first people to arrive though, as there was a red-haired lady and a man accompanied by a mechanical bird digimon already waiting there.
"Are you guys okay? We heard screaming." Hana asked, slightly winded from running.
"I take it the three of you are also here for the job closing the portal potentially spewing out Lovecraft-esque nightmares?" Data inquired as well.
"Wait, what was that about closing an eldritch portal?" Hana asked, turning towards the Hagurumon. "You never said anything about that!"
"I did. Twice." Data replied in a monotone. "Not my fault you didn't pay attention."
"Oh." Hana replied.
"Spooooooky..." Rush repeated.
"Not helping, Rush." Hana and Data replied at the same time.

The sudden loud voice startled Harper, making the woman visibly flinch as she turned to see who was yelling. Rather, what was yelling. She thought she was used to the idea now that digimon came in all sorts of shapes and sizes, but she still couldn't stop herself from staring at the robotic creature. Staring in wonder as her mind immediately tried to think out how the bird-dragon-thing functioned.
She blinked and glanced at the boy accompanying the digimon when he spoke. Whoever he was he seemed to be here on official business despite his younger looking age.
"This is my first time here, so I couldn't tell you. I'm not exactly sure what counts as 'strange' in this city-" At that point she paused, having been giving the male a look over. She tilted her head curiously, wondering who made his shinguards and gauntlet. Had her manic friend majoring in fashion design gotten a hold of this young man too?! She didn't realize her peer had been modeling younger men as well today, if that really was the case. Her own metal shoulder guard was a bit too heavy for her comfort. Perhaps she should have changed clothes before coming here, but fate cared little about that, apparently.
"Whatever's down there you look dressed for the part of dealing with it. The jacket's definitely a dashing addition," she said in an approving tone.
As she finished talking another person ran up to ask if everything was fine, followed closely by two more digimon. Before Harper could respond the floating gear-shaped digimon mentioned something about Lovecraftian nightmares. Eldritch portals was also thrown about.
"Is this a normal occurrence here?" she asked everyone present with a mildly concerned expression.
Another scream echoed from the unseen corridor at the bottom of the stairs, followed by shouts from the same voice complaining about being eaten. Metal clanking on concrete could also be heard, getting louder as the source of the noises reached the stairs. A purple dinosaur-looking digimon soon skidded into view down below, stopping before it tripped over the stairs. In its mouth it held a burgamon by its hat.
"He's gonna eat me!" shouted the burgamon frantically.
"You should be more worried about THEM," growled the protodramon through its clenched jaws as it started racing up the steps two at a time. "Stop squirming or they'll catch up! Out of the way, up there!"
At this point Harper really wanted a breakdown of what was going on, but she stopped as she noticed her xros loader's pulsing light had suddenly turned into a steady glowing beacon.

Akitsugu did not miss that comment about his jacket. "Thanks, you look cool too." He gave an approving thumbs up. "I can't say anything here's normal." Akitsugu stated, flatly. "Haven't been here long and all I've dealt with are stuttering aliens and foxes." But, yes, it seemed as though they were dealing with an eldritch portal spewing out whatever it felt like. Which was probably supposed to sound scarier on paper than it did thinking about it. "Hirata Akitsugu, nice to meet you two.""PERSONALLY, WE SHOULD FIGHT THEM. IT COULD BE A NICE TEAM BUILDING EXERCISE FOR WHAT WE HAVE HERE. PLUS, I AM REPORTEDLY CURIOUS. WE ALSO HAVE NUMBERS, FOR WE HAVE ENCOUNTERED...TWINS. YOU ARE FREE TO ACCOMPANY." Java declared, before she decided to embody the ideals of a meme from 2004...and started marching down. "...Java. -Java.- You don't have a clue what's down there." Akitsugu protested as he followed. "YES. WHICH IS WHY I WILL FIND OUT FOR OUR SAKES."Akitsugu let out an actual groan. "Sorry. I'll...follow her in." Today was going to be nobody's day, it seemed. As Java marched down, the expanse of forgotten suburbia that was Old Terminus opened up, and...immediately revealed the problem in question. Perhaps the Protodramon's warnings should have been better heeded. A litany of green creatures. Ten of them in total, running around and smashing stuff up with anything they could find. And they all sounded exactly the same. "FINALLY, WE MANAGED TO GET SCREENTIME!" One yelled. "LET'S ROB PEOPLE." Screamed another. "NO, I VOTE WE START A WAR. WHICH OF MY HOM-NEES IS WITH ME?""HMM. HMM. YES. I HATE IT. I HATE IT A LOT. IT ANGERS ME MERELY BY EXISTING."[524 out of 1000 so far. God, please, end me for this sin.]

"You'd be surprised how many crazy things happen here in the Digital World." Data replied in answer to the unknown woman's question. When the Protodramon and Burgamon came running up the steps screaming about being eaten and being followed by THEM, Data merely let out a weary sigh. "Yep, that sounds about right for this kind of situation."
"I'm Hana, and this is Data and Rush." Hana nervously chimed in, as the man introduced himself and his mechanical, bird-like partner as Akitsugu and Java. The situation was definitely worrying her if even the scary, robotic dinosaur seemed scared of whatever THEY were. What are we getting ourselves into?
When Java and Akitsugu went down to scope out the area below, Rush followed after them.
"Wait for us, Rush!" Hana called after the Keramon. Hana and Data quickly followed after him to make sure he didn't cause any unnecessary trouble.
"Don't just run in, brother! We need to come up with a- What in the name of Yggdrasil are those?" Data added, as they caught up with the other three down below and saw the green Neemons ransacking the place.
"HMM. HMM. YES. I HATE IT. I HATE IT A LOT. IT ANGERS ME MERELY BY EXISTING." Java had said shortly after Hana and Data had shown up.
"I have to agree with that assessment. These things need to destroyed. Preferably with fire." Data agreed. He usually tried to avoid lethal measures if possible, but theses things terrified him beyond all reason.
"Big trouble." Rush added, as he lightly chewed on his fingers.
We're doomed. Hana thought. WC:537/1000
