Kind of dragging this out, aren't you, dad?
Syre found herself giving a sigh, closing her eyes to keep herself centered. After that unfortunate incident in trying to control her 'dark energy', Syre had to come clean with what she had tried to do to her father. After sternlly warning her daughter against 'trying anything that reckless by yourself', Dr. Mikemon actually managed to sound upbeat about the entire situation. It wasn't a bad idea to stay on top of this, and the doctor figured that it was the perfect, controlled opportunity to give an aspiring doctor a practical test.
Holly.
The Meiphemon was assigned the patient, and lent full use of Dr. Mikemon's office for the afternoon. Stingmon was on hand in case the doctor needed an assistant (as was Jade), and the apprentice was given a run-down of what she was supposed to do: figure out why the ring was so integral to the demon lord energy, and figure out how to level out Syre's data structure overall.
But if it was a task that was so easy to hand off, why didn't the doctor just handle it himself? Thinking that, Syre gave a groan, leaning back against that 'medical chair' to just try and rest her head.
"Right, like I'm a good practice patient for her..." She shook her head. "Aren't I a touch too close to home?"

Holly stared down at the clipboard; there were some notes on it. Some things about this that told her what had happened; but the pair of siblings had been… well they hadn’t been talking as much as they really should have. She’d bite her lower lip and flip over the paper; there wasn’t much here for a reason. Like sure she was supposed to figure out the relevance of the ring and the demon lord energy as well as figuring out how to level out her sister’s energy levels. This was a test of sorts; to see what she could do. The meiphemon exhaled a little bit and feeling jade approach she’d turn her head slowly to look at the floating orb.
”Are you ready holly?”
”Yeah I uh… well I was just reading over what Da gave me before going to syre.”
”Well syre is waiting so we best not keep her.”
Holly nodded her head and would knock on the door that would lead into where syre was staying for the moment. She’d step inside of the door afterwards and close it. She already could see her sister even from the get go. Lily was good at providing her with general information from behind due to the both of them ‘sharing’ a body. Jade’s analytical information would come a second later.
”Hey sis.”
Holly hummed a little bit and moved over to syre; a few instruments were in her hands or resting on the top of lily’s fluff with a small platter making sure to keep them separate. Just the standard test fairing stuff. But there were a few needles there too. Each with labels of what she was looking for.
”We’re gonna do a few standard tests, take your temp and I’m going to draw out some data from both you and your ring. How are you feeling?”
That last part was important; if syre was feeling sickly well… Holly could figure why really easily; Demonlord data took a bit to get used to and with her taking this form maybe it would spark something or help the other ‘relax’ a bit.

Were Syre and Holly really that distant?
Well, maybe. Ever since moving out to Terminus, and with Holly spending a lot of time in Luminas, the two hadn't seen each-other in person all that much. Sure, they kept in tabs via text and phone calls, but it was hardly the amount they';d seen each-other before. Despite that, though, Syre didn't think too much of it, glad to actually have a chance to see her younger sister...
... Even if the method was a bit awkward.
Hearing that knock, Syre's ear would give a flick, the BlackGatomon sitting up as the Meiphemon stepped into the room. There was a smile on the cat's face: "Hey, yourself. You're looking good!" Giving Holly that compliment, she'd blink as Holly moved right to Syre's side. Right down to business?
"Well, I'm fine now." Syre stressed that last word. "But whenever I try to meditate, the demon lord energy in my ring acts up. I, er, tried to just acclimate it into my frame as you did and... that turned out poorly." No kidding - a full panic episode, and then a full personality change? The feline sighed, moving along with the motions for the test.
A normal temperature, good heart-rate, good breathing. She was a 'mercenary', after all, so it wasn't a surprise that Syre's cardio was in excellent shape. Syre bit the inside of her cheek as the data was drawn from her arm, blinking as she looked to the ring.
"How are you going to draw from there, though?"

Maybe less distant than they’d expect; but more so than they were used to. Holly was always feeling so busy at school and with the both of them living in different areas… even the whole patrol nonsense. She still wasn’t doing them as requested by Iko. It was still nice to see her sister again and it took a lot of effort for holly not to give the blackgatomon a big hug.
”I’ve been sleeping and eating normally ever since getting this form so I’d hope so!”
Holly chuckled a little bit and smiled warmly to syre; though getting this handled was her priority. Hearing the information that she was given the meiphemon made sure to jot that down. So she’d try to meditate and the demon lord energy in the ring would act up? What exactly happened in that?
”Well it’s good that you’re okay now. But can you recount to me what happened, what you felt before the ‘change’?”
Seeing the varied responses were in good health made sense; the demonlord part of syre was still… well a part of her. It was there from the get go wasn’t it? Just taking a long time to actually crop up. She had to wonder why it took so long for her. With holly she had come to this data by mistake but with syre…
The meiphemon blinked a bit and glanced to the ring. She’d tap her lip and give syre a small smile. It was easier said than done; but at the same time she had a few ways of going about it.
”Well; there’s a few ways to go about it. But the safest is just to take some of the excess data that leaks naturally when you digivolve. So I’m going to have you de-digivolve and then digivolve again. During that little section I’m going to draw from the ring while it’s still ‘forming’.”
Holly rubbed at her chin thoughtfully and Lily seemed to roll her eyes; they had done tests on the two of them before and gotten wildly different results due to their own data composition. So treating the ring like lily seemed like the best bet…
”Well it’s either that or we get a really heavy duty needle and just break into the data that way.”
”Yeah but damaging it might react poorly…”

"Mm? You, sleeping normally?"
Syre couldn't help but poke a bit of fun at her little sister at that! But, of course, the two were here for a specific reason, and as Holly gave that follow-up question, the BlackGatomon mulled it over for a moment. "Well - and this is specifically while I'm meditating - it feels like I'm able to level out my data, but then there's like a static in the back of my ears. If I keep going, the energy builds up, my ring starts to spark, and it just 'jolts' me out of it. Now, when I tried to load the data itself..."
She sighed, shaking her head. "It rejected - like it had its own mind or something. More than that, though, my body ran cold, I couldn't catch my breath, and unless I had the ring right in my hands, I was just hyperventilating. Putting the ring back on seemed to help after a while... so if I had to guess, that was just something I wasn't supposed to do."
So if trying to load the data caused that, how would Holly get a sample? Actually, the Meiphemon had a good idea. With a nervous chuckle at Lily's own, the cat shook her head, and silently reverted to her rookie state. A flick of her tail was all it took for it to vanish.
"Alright..." She'd turn away, and let Holly hold onto that tail, Syre closing her eyes. "Three... two... one..."
The data would start to build up around, the dark ring taking shape before Holly's eyes...

”Well yeah! Sloth energy and all that. I’m lucky my core doesn’t stagnant yanno?”
Meiphemon while a powerful form also had several caveats that holly had to keep track of. Thankfully lilly was was ontop of them and was there to help holly rather than hinder. Not to mention jade. The meiphemon paused hearing her sisters explanation. A static in the back of her ears? Holly knew that sensation all too well. It was a little thing but it was definitely something that she had felt in regards to her own data. Maybe a little less so.
”It’s like it’s trying to stop you from using it. But ‘loading’ the data isn’t the right way of going about it. If you do it’s potentially damaging…”
Hearing the rest of this though? Holly blinked slowly; like the energy and data had a mind of it’s own? All this other stuff was just… she seemed at a loss for words. The meiphemon making sure to write it out in bullet points.
”If I had to guess, the demonlord data has taken a liking to the ring or at least has decided to host itself out of there. Or there’s something about the ring that helps you ‘focus’ so to speak.”
Holly hummed a little bit and quickly got her needle for this partial venue of data. She’d move her hands quickly and when the ring started to form? That’s when she’d push the needle in to take a little bit of the forming data.
”I wonder… Our family have a strong connection with meditation in some varieties; it’s a way of honing ourselves. Ma did it, you’re doing it. But I couldn’t sit still enough myself until I had the sloth energy. But yours… well we’ll find out what type of data it is and use that. It might not want you to meditate. It might want something else.”

"Heh..."
All Syre could really do was share a nervous chuckle as she heard her sister's words. Well, so long as Holly was staying on top of it, the Meiphemon would probably be fine. The topic soon shifted back to the BlackGatomon's condition, and the feline found her ear twitching at Holly's explanation.
"Something about the ring that helps me focus..." Syre looked to her tail, and gave a flick as Holly took the sample. Even as it was freshly formed, the cat couldn't help but recoil a bit at the sensation - but thankfully, there didn't seem to be any other ill effects. "Well, a lot of Gatomon or BlackGatomon seem to have these rings, or something like them. Dad doesn't, though, and it doesn't appear that every Gatomon does either. Maybe Greed's data just likes jewelry?"
Could it really be that simple? Holly put forth another idea: maybe Greed's data wanted her to do something else. To that, Syre folded her arms, and thought it over. "The data does seem to object when I try to draw from it, but it does allow me to create that anti-healing light stuff - so its not like the data's completely against me, I guess?" Syre sighed, shaking her head as she tried to make sense of it. "Maybe we'll get a better idea once you get a decent look into the data..."

Getting back onto track wasn’t too difficult given that was pretty much the reason both of them were here. She’d manage a warm smile to her sister and the meiphemon gazed down at the ring. It wasn’t too uncommon for her sister’s type of mon to have them regardless of what fur color they had. Holly would stare into the needle’s holding and purse her lips.
”Well like; many of our family have something to hone their focus from right? Ma had those keys, da has his crystal… it’d be unlikely that one of their kids wouldn’t have something like that. But if greed’s data likes jewelry there’s an easy way of testing that too.”
Holly drummed her fingers on the counter after setting the needle down. She’d hum a bit and get a few vials. There were a few things that she had to run and check. Which in total would take about fifteen minutes each. Thankfully the two of them had some things to test.
”I would guess that if Greed’s data likes jewelry that might also extend to anything of a certain value.”
Holly mused a bit but then Syre continued on; Greed data not liking when it was drawn from? But that would be a little counterproductive to grow right? She’d bite the inside of her cheek and lean against the counter as the machine started to whir. Testing the two vials she had set up.
”It’s possible it’s not letting you draw from it because there’s not a lot there to begin with?”
That could be one reason but; if it was helping her out rather than being the source… that could also explain why it’s being difficult. Not wanting to give up and in to something ‘foreign’ to it. Even if it came from the same source. Holly huffed a bit and wrote down everything that Syre said.
”It’ll take about fifteen minutes for the pair of them to be done. Which during this I’d like you to try something; see if you can find the difference in your data structure; where you can ‘feel’ the greed data the strongest. If it is your ring then I have a hunch…”

"And you have Jade."
With a small smile, the BlackGatomon gave a flick of that tail, tilting her head a bit at Holly's point. "Would be interesting to see if the data would jump to another piece of gold, but somehow I don't think it will. Greed - well, the data, anyway - seems to be quite comfortable where it is."
Holly's next idea also held some water. What if it was simply a case that the amount of data was limited? "Mm... its not like its a key component of my later forms, just one technique. So if its just ammo to burn through, maybe the issue will go away on its own. Can't rule out that possibility, I guess." But for that to be the case? "I guess it depends if there's an independent core held in the ring as well. As for that last question, its pretty obvious." The feline slid off that ring, and held it in her paw.
"I remove it, I don't sense Greed at all. Sometimes I take it off if I feel a headache coming on or if I can't sleep, or something. Rare that that's the case, though..." The cat bit the inside of her cheek. "Sorry if this ain't a lot to go off of, sis..."
