Hello, Stranger [V-Day '21|Kan]

There was nothing to be nervous about. There were a lot of women nearing their thirties who were single, without a career, and could transform into a magic rabbit from another world. Despite that made up statistic Sunny's hand trembled slightly at the idea of going through with this blind date as she attached the hair clip to the left side of her head, attempting to tame some of her bangs. The clip itself was black to blend in with her hair, and decorated with several small pink flowers. The yukata she wore had a similar design; it was black with a floral pattern, showing off thin branches with pink and red flowers contrasting with the dark background.
It wasn't that she was nervous around men. Working at a bar had even gotten her used to politely parrying away unwanted advances by patrons. Tonight was different, though; tonight she kinda wanted things to work out. Instead the woman was worried about her own actions this evening. Her social resume really wasn't impressive, and she was afraid of looking desperate using this blind dating event. Or worse, she'd do something to completely embarrass herself.
Before her fears could kidnap her entirely Sunny slid one of her sleeves back and lightly pinched her forearm. Reflexively she winced a little at the sudden pain, but it helped focus her thoughts.
"I got this!" she said to herself encouragingly, "..this isn't my first date, and what are the chances of this guy even knowing where I work?"
Yeah. Yeah! She could do this! A little more excited now that she had psyched herself up all that was left to do now was wait. The weekend festival was already in full swing, and everyone she could see was having a good time. There was no reason to think she wouldn't enjoy herself tonight. Standing near the entrance of the festivities she held a small white card in her hand. It was the invitation to this date, and on the side she kept visible there was a cartoony looking heart with sunglasses pictured. Hopefully her partner would have gotten the same corny invite, too.

”You seriously think I should wear this?”
Kan couldn’t help but groan a bit as his ex wife chuckled against the door frame. The man had been dressed up in one of those hawaiin type suits. Where the top had the floral pattern and the pants was still of the same color of the suit but didn’t have the bright and colorful flowers on it. Gretal had suggested that he wear it to sort of distract from the fact his hands and face were still scarred to hell.
”Yeah I think it’s a good call. Not too busy lookin that and your date might get a laugh from it given how bad your jokes are.”
Kan sighed a little bit and shook his head; slowly smoothing her hair with a comb and staring at his reflection in the mirror. This mirror had seen a lot over the years; it was the first one that had seen him with his first partner lectral and had been there for when the spirits first talked to him. It was still doing as well as he was really; some chips and crack shere… he could never see himself replacing it even though there was some of it that was broken.
He’d adjust his suit coat and scoop up the invite he had gotten from the festival. It was a blind date card; one of those ones that were fairly corny for it. You had to of signed up like a month or two prior in order to get it so the fact he had even considered doing so for a date this year…? He’d sigh a bit and slip it into his coat pocket after glancing at the design on one side.
A heart with sunglasses. Cartoony at that. His partner would also have it. The man grimaced a bit and started walking downstairs. He could hear gretal chuckling as she went.
”Just make sure to take your digivice too. Can never know what happens at these festivals. I ain’t goin; you remember last time I came with we both got drunk!”
”Right… on a necklace or?”
”Might as well show it off. Goes with the suit don’t it? Black with flowers and a white digivice? Hell yeah.”
Gretal did have a point, with a small sigh the man would slip on his digivice and move to go out the door. He wondered quietly whom he would get as a date even while hearing gretal lock up behind him. The man had to take a train to go to the festival location a bit early but that wasn’t really a problem.
Once he arrived he’d pull out the envelope, flipping it over and raising a brow. Yeah this was definitely corny. But a few women that had been staring at him sighed a bit when they saw the card. One guy who was probably off the menu for those singles that weren’t able to find a date!
Given how successful he looked mixed with the strange suit he was wearing meant he was probably a bit eccentric. That and the scars were a big focus for a lot of people on the trainride over. People actually breaking societal norms and asking him about them. It was easy enough to explain the hands but the face? He’d avoid that one.
Once down on the ground the man looked about; biting the inside of his cheek as he could spot people with different symbols here or there. Some found the ones that they were looking for while others seemed lost and even dejected. One such man was sitting on the side of the street, holding a pair of cards with a sour look on his face. Staring down at the ground. Kan shook his head a bit and kept walking until…
Another person was holding the same card that he was. The man glanced at his and then back to the card. Then up to the face that was holding the card. He felt his jaw slacken; his heart skipped a beat and he’d slowly hold up the card like this was a dream. His voice did not hold his surprise in the least bit but for a single word to hold so many different emotions was masterful in itself...
”Sunny?”

The voice that called out to her was a familiar one, and it was one that she didn't expect to hear at a festival. The man was sort of a regular at the bar she worked at, and had been so for a couple years now. With his scars and soft spoken demeanor he didn't strike her as the kinda guy to spend time at a place like this. With all his scars she had to wonder if he was yakuza too, but had never really mustered the courage to ask.
"Kan? What are you-" she started to ask as she turned to face the man, however her voiced got caught in her throat when she saw what he was holding up. Her mouth gaped a bit in shock as she realized he was her date for the evening, and her cheeks flushed a light red hue in response. There would be no hiding who she was from this man. Ironically that was probably healthy for a potential relationship, but Sunny wasn't even sure what the enigmatic man thought of her, really.
"W-Well! Talk about a surprise!" she said as she forced a smile to move past the awkwardness. Too bad it wasn't working as well as she hoped. As she moved in front of the man she took in his outfit to avoid making eye contact. Sunny raised a hand to partially cover her widening smile as a quiet giggle escaped. It dawned on her that Kan was probably wearing the strange coat to provoke such a reaction, but that didn't stop her from appreciating his humor as well as his own courage.
"That suit," she began as her eyes rose to finally meet his shyly, "..somehow, you make it work, Kan." Sunny could still feel her cheeks were a little warm as a smile found its way onto her face more easily now. "I don't think we've had the pleasure to meet outside of Velvet, yet? Looks like for tonight I'll be in your care!"

He hadn’t expected this; to see her here. He always had treated her with a level of professional respect but there was those small and few moments over the years where he wanted to ask her more personal questions to get to know her better. She was always kind and friendly but he had figured that someone such as her wouldn’t have taken a route as a blind date. He seemed a bit surprised to see her there to be honest. It was easy to see on his face as she turned to face him.
They were both a bit dumbfounded at the luck of this blind date. She wasn’t the only one blushing though his seemed a bit more tame by comparison. While the digital world had a habit of doing this sort of thing all the time the human world wasn’t exactly known for this. He’d rub at the back of his neck; they both knew where the other worked. They both knew one another on a fairly professional level. But… he largely kept other facts about himself hidden. Like working with the yakuza when he was younger and the fact he could turn into a giant cat man.
”Indeed! I uh… didn’t really expect this hah.”
They both shared an awkward smile though it seemed they had both deigned to avoid eyecontact for the moment. He was a little stunned over how gorgeous she looked in her outfit; it was hard not to take her style choice in. He’d have to ask where she had gotten this later... His own outfit of course was meant to humour his style choices. The man did have a tiger striped set of coveralls after all. The fact that his outfit was so well recieved made him smile warmly.
Then their eyes finally met and he could feel the blood was rushing to his cheeks. He’d manage to keep that warm smile and would nod after a few moments. This would be the only time that they met outside of velvet. He had never really offered to show her where he worked; or rather where he worked out of. Many people that he was professional with didn’t know the man both used his home as a shop and well… home!
”Well you definitely make your outfit more than work for you. It’s wonderfully styled. And no I don’t think we have. Shall we?”
The man would offer his arm for sunny if she so wished to have him guide her. It was oddly sweet of him to do but there were many stalls and the like they could look over. Many places to eat and even more to enjoy one another’s company.
”I’m not going to lie I expected you to already have plans for this evening. It was only because of a friend I even signed up for this… talk about luck I suppose?”
There was a low rumbling chuckle and if she had agreed to let him lead her; he’d of course set a leisurely pace for the both of them. People in the crowd gave the larger than life man a wide berth. He was imposing even with the silly suit choice. Though the warmth that was his smile easily reached his eyes; he was truly relaxed and it wouldn’t be difficult to see that he was happy that he got someone he knew.
”There’s a lot of stalls to hit if you’re interested; though I’m always partial to getting some of the travel food… but a sit down booth wouldn’t be too bad would it? Though finding one that isn't taken is the real challenge!”

She was glad that she wasn't the only one fumbling for words at the revelation. Thankfully Kan seemed keen on moving things right along to help dispel the initial uncomfortable atmosphere.
"Oh! I'm glad you like my yukata! I don't really get a lot of chances to wear something like this." The woman beamed up at her date with a smile. It really had taken her too long to pick out, but he didn't need to know that, and his appreciated was appreciated by her in turn. "Yes, let's enjoy ourselves," she said as she hooked a hand around his arm and walked at his side. Tonight they would just be two adults looking for companionship and maybe something a little more if things went well. Just when she thought she'd regain her composure though Kan made a comment that caused her to slowly avert her eyes again as her hand lightly squeezed the man's bicep.
"To be honest it wasn't for lack of trying, or maybe it was?" she joked with a nervous chuckle. There were probably a lot of people she knew who'd be surprised to find out she was single. The woman shrugged it off before looking back to Kan with a smile. "Didn't expect to find yourself here tonight either, it sounds like? Can't say for certain if something really is going on here, but I'd like to get to know you better all the same? We don't get the chance to really talk when I'm working."
She ignored the people giving them a wide berth. While she was certainly tall by Asian standards, Kan dwarfed even her. It must have been an amusing sight seeing them together, though. She'd have to get a picture of them later.
"I could go for some festival food, sure!" The thought of fresh delights did make her mouth water now that Kan had gotten her thinking about it. "If we can't find a booth to sit in there should be more benches spread throughout the festival grounds."

Maybe it was because they were both nervous, both stumbling that kan was able to try to help. Maybe if they had been a bit more confident he would have deigned to let her take the lead. Either way? He was more than happy to spend this time with the other. This was a time for chances and he’d be lying if he said that he didn’t want to see how tonight was going to go.
”It looks really good on you. That’s a pity! It’s nice sometimes to be able to dress up. I know I don’t get to do so too often either.”
The man chuckled a bit and returned the smile; while he had gotten help with his outfit not the same could be said for everyone. He felt his heart skip a beat when she took his offered arm; his smile faltered for a moment and he’d take a leisurely pace for the both of them. He’d tilt his head to one side as she squeezed his arm; her answer was the sort that… well they both hadn’t really been trying had they? Maybe this was one of those moments where they both had reached out only to find one another.
”I know how that is… and. Yeah I really didn’t; Gretal suggested to me that I should stop moping around in the shop and try something new for a change. Mmm. A little early to tell no? I’d like to get to know you better too; it’s been years and past our first names we don’t really know too much about one another. And yeah… we don’t. More’s the pity but I know how it can be while at work.”
He had never been big on the entire valentines day thing and he had the respect to not impose awkward conversations while at her workplace. It wasn’t proper for someone like him to force conversation on someone that was just trying to serve drinks. She had to deal with that enough with the others that did.
Hearing that she would be up for some festival food brought a smile on his face; he knew that in a festival like this it’d be difficult to find a good spot or perhaps even a stall that had free sitting… but the mention of finding some benches? Yeah that sounded comfortable to him.
”Well let's see if we can find something… Even if it’s not nearby. And that sounds like a good idea if we can’t find a booth.”
Kan managed another smile; leading them through the crowds and by some booths. There were plenty that had long lines and others that were practically abandoned in terms of wait. Rather than just stand around and wait in a line together forcing a conversation kan instead would lead them to some of the ones that didn’t have much in the way of customers. There were plenty of options and he figured she’d rather get something to eat than stand around.
”A couple good stalls… any preference?”
Kan himself didn’t really have much of a restriction on eating things; he’d defer to her preferences on it given that… well most of the food he probably had tried at some point or another elsewhere. It wasn’t hard to see that his eyes drifted away from the stalls time and time again; falling onto his date as they walked.
It was hard not to stare, hard not to smile. He wanted to talk to her and get to know her just like they both agreed to do. But it was just… company for the first time in a long time that he could actually enjoy that seemed to have really gotten to him.
”So what sort of things do you do in your freetime? Hobbies and the like I mean.”

Kan's elaborating on why he was here tonight raised a couple questions in her mind, but Sunny wasn't sure if here and now was the right time for them. She decided that she'd ask later if things didn't go badly.
"It has been a couple years, yes," she said softly as her free hand thoughtfully tapped at her cheek. That was an awful long time to know someone without really knowing them. Her line of work flipped that thought on its head, though. Sunny did see a lot of regulars in Velvet, but she was always careful to keep from getting too friendly with patrons.
"It's never too late to change something like that, though," she said with a smile as she walked with Kan.
Most of the food stalls were pick up and go, but she was pleased to see there were openings at a few of the sit down booths. There was a noticeable glint of excitement in her eyes as Kan left the choice up to her.
"Uhm, let me see..." It was hard for her to choose. The pictures on the advertisements and the smells of food wafting around was certainly getting to the woman. "How about that one!" Her free hand pointed to a stall that had a bright red banner hanging at the front with a cartoon looking takoyaki octopus character. Sunny's smile widened eagerly as she stepped forward, almost childishly pulling at Kan's arm.
"I like to play pool after cleaning up at work, and singing, although don't bother asking for a performance," she said with a knowing chuckle. "Sorry, but that's kind of a 'me' thing." As they sat down her eyes found the strange trinket hanging around Kan's neck.
"..where did you get that, if you don't mind me asking?" She pointed to the white digivice with a curious expression. It didn't look like her own, but she did recognize it from her work at the Infinity Coliseum.

There was no point in lying to someone you were going on a date with. Full honesty in every aspect is what he was going with and he’d stick to that as much as he could. If sunny wanted to pry he’d tell her what was what. He could distinctly remember several of his partners over the years; sebastian, lectral… his first grouping of spirits and now snyder. He hadn’t been old enough to drink when lectral was his partner and sebastian kept him busy… but that meant that he likely started going to velvet while he was out of partners and heavy in the work.
”...nearly a decade if I’m thinking through it right.”
Kan mused lightly; he didn’t feel that old and he certainly wasn’t sure how the both of them never really managed to talk before this. He worked in customer service but in a different branch; many customers he saw once he’d see here or there. No more regulars since the world was fast paced. At least not in the human one. The digital world he had a lot of regulars; mostly robotic digimon! He had to wonder what sort of work sunny would do in the digital world. Maybe another bar that she happened to own? Sunny would earn a small warm smile from kan at hearing her say exactly what he was thinking.
”Took the words right out of my mouth.”
Kan couldn’t help but raise his eyebrows ever so slightly as he could see that glint of excitement. Honestly part of the reason that kan didn’t pick is because well… he had a huge array of tastes; he didn’t particularly dislike anything so if he went and picked? Well there was an odd chance that sunny might not like it and he didn’t want that.
Kan was the patient sort and meanwhile glanced about at the varying stalls; the varying people. So many different scenes playing out; dates going well and dates going poorly. Lonely people that were just chilling on benches. People watching. One such person met kan’s gaze and gave him a small little wave. The man returning it before turning back to his date. Seeing which one that sunny had picked out made kan’s eyebrows shoot up and with him being pulled along the larger man couldn’t help but laugh.
”ALl right all right. Lets get a seat for that one then. My treat.”
That one probably focused on varying octopus dishes if the sign was anything to go by; that or octopus themed dishes. It was hard to tell from the get go but… Hearing that she liked to play pool or sing after work kan would raise his brow slightly.
”Pool I could get but you didn’t strike me as a singer; I’d say probably someone who had an instrument or two that you like toying with. Don’t worry; I won’t.”
The man chuckled softly and took his seat next to sunny, there weren’t too many here it seemed but then hearing her question… noting her direction of pointing. His eyes wandered down to where his digivice sat. A rare breed of digivice that he had only seen once before. From a child years and years and years ago. The truth was that snyder gave it to him after his near death experience but he couldn’t just… say that. But snyder was a friend and ally so…
”It’s a long long story. But I used to travel a lot more than I do now. I ran into a friend from a while back; we got into some wild shenanigans. Ended up getting this from someone who wanted me to have it. A friend I guess? Don’t really know if I can call him that yet.”
Kan would order himself some water while taking a moment to peruse through the menu. It was easy to notice that he was very thoughtful about explaining this out given where they were at. Telling someone that a lion spirit gave you a digivice to save your life while on your proverbial deathbed wasn’t exactly something you could say out loud. Though this did beg the question…
”Don’t spose you see these all too often?”

"I-I see..! That long huh? Right!"
Had it really been almost ten years already? The woman put a hand on her cheek feeling a bit embarrassed for having glossed over so much time like that. Maybe she really was getting old! Faces and time seemed to blur when you hardly saw the sun unless it was rising or setting. All she could really do was hum thoughtfully in response to that, not knowing how to truly reply. Thankfully the prospect of food moved things along for them.
"Like I said, singing is more for myself," she said as she playfully wagged a finger at the man. "I don't think I have the coordination for an instrument, but that might be fun to try out one day? I picked up a part time job for some extra experience though, so that adventure will have to wait." Goofing around on an air guitar or drums was about the extent of her instrumental prowess. The idea of trying something more tangible was appealing, though.
Kan's answer was rather cryptic regarding his digivice. Sunny wasn't sure if that meant it was rightfully Kan's, or merely a gift from this mysterious friend.
"I bet you have a lot of exciting stories? I don't have anything like that yet myself, but maybe one day I'll get a chance to see something as wild." She wondered about that, honestly. Shibuya was no where near as exciting as the Digital World was, but how far down that rabbit hole was she really willing to go?
"Hmm, not really," admitted Sunny with a thoughtful look back at the digivice. If she understood things correctly that was an older model, so even with her work at the coliseum it wasn't a common sight. Leaning closer towards Kan to get a better look the woman shrugged her shoulders. "But, I typically see the newer models at my part time job? Your friend must have been very close with you to give you that."

”Give or take a few months I figure.”[/color]
Kan shrugged slightly; to him it wasn’t really that big of a deal. They really had known one another for a long time and it had gotten to the point of them knowing one another passingly. Given his original disposition he wouldn’t blame anyone for avoiding too large of interactions with him. He’d chuckle a bit at hearing that hum; had he made this a bit awkward?
”I won’t push, just saying you struck me as someone to have instrumental talent.”
He’d maange a small smile, adjusting slightly and thinking it over. Had he ever taken to an instrument or tried singing? He didn’t think so. Another shrug and he’d nod his head as she explained out that she had picked up an part time job for extra experience. He had to wonder what kind of job would eat up so much time but the man could only guess.
”Well I’d suggest the guitar or maybe some drums. There are beginner courses. And really? Working two jobs has to be a bit stressful...
He never had considered another job, just the part time support gig in the yakuza. Giving a shake of the head he’d banish that particular thought. He didn’t want to think about that right at the moment. He’d pause after a moment and then look at the menu; wondering quietly to himself how to better explain some things.
”I’ve got quite a few yeah. Especially when you traveled as much as I did to as many places as I have.”
It was one of those weird moments where he wasn’t sure how deep into that he should go. Did sunny know anything about the digital world? Or perhaps this was one of those instances where she simply didn’t? It was hard to tell. Then he’d stop as she said that she saw newer models at her part time job. He’d glance at her wondering quietly if she was joshing with him or…
”Well… I did have a newer model before I was given this one. But it… well broke so. Hmm.”
The man gently plucked the device off of his necklace before offering it to the woman; a small smile gracing his face. He wondered what she’d really have to say about it if they were more in private.
”...I have a habit of seeing the newer ones a lot at my line of work. Though it’s always questions about how they work, I’ve only ever had to fix one once or twice.”
That being said they were only ever quick fixes and the owner would vanish a few months later. So he harbored a little worry that he messed up somewhere. He’d pause and let out a soft chuckle.
”...I suppose we can stop playing coy about what these are huh? And yeah he’s… very close. In fact he’s in there right now. Sleeping cause he’s really lazy.”

"Guitar or drums..? I'm not sure if I'd be cut out for those instruments in particular." The woman had to smile at those suggestions, unsure if Kan was poking fun or not. She envisioned being in some kind of rock band with those recommendations and the thought was indeed funny to her. She had never really been a loud person, but maybe an acoustic guitar might be nice to sing along with.
"Working two jobs can get a little out of hand some days, but I'm finding it to be worth the extra stress." She nodded her head with a reassuring expression. "Maybe one day we could even travel together? A little vacation, and our own little adventure?" Her gaze lowered to her own menu, unable to look him in the eyes after voicing such a bold idea. Her eyes were quick to return to Kan's however when he offered more information about his digivice.
She seemed surprised and confused to hear he had a different model before. Now that she thought of it she hadn't ever seen one break. With the item being offered to her now she couldn't help but gingerly take it into her own hands to inspect. When questioned about playing things incognito the woman paused as her lips curled into a sheepish smile, as if she had been caught doing something naughty.
"Yeah, I suppose you are right? I'm sorry, this is the first time I've seen someone else's device in our world," she explained with a small shrug. Sunny was rather quick to add with a nervous chuckle: "I-I just didn't want my date, you-Kan-I-mean, to think I was crazy if-! Uhm, yeah..." Her shoulders rose and fell with a quiet sigh as she took a moment to calm back down. As she stared at the digivice in her hands she smiled and shook her head.
"Small world though, isn't it?" she said with a soft smirk. "I've had my own digivice for a while now, but I've never done anything crazy with it yet." Sunny held her hand out to Kan, offering the man's digivice back as she studied his face. "Is that how you got those scars? The other world?"

”Well one of them is good with singing so if you went with that you’d be able to have fun with it. Drums are good for when you just need to let it out here or there.”
The man made a little motion with his hands; smirking softly as he remembered when he tried the latter at one of those shops. Took him a while to realize he just at the time really liked hitting the drums. So he didn’t bother with it now of course. The man shifted a bit and then hearing her suggestion he found his eyebrows raising; his eyes dancing from the menu to look at her. She had looked away but he couldn’t help but earnestly smile.
”I wouldn’t mind traveling again. Better with a companion no?”
He wouldn’t ask her to look him in the eyes after such a suggestion; but his smile and the warmth in his eyes would definitely be genuine. Seeing that she accepted his device; looked over it as though she was well practiced? The man folded his hands after setting his menu down. Seeing that shrug and then that chuckle? Yeah he knew how it went.
”I know how it is trust me; there’s not a lot of people that I’ve met that know what it is offhand. Explaining it to dates much less friends can be a struggle.”
He’d acknowledge the struggle that she likely was going through and he’d motion with one hand after accepting it back.
”To be fair I wouldn’t have thought you crazy. A lot of the stuff that I’ve dealt with even before the other place… was crazy enough to prepare me for a lot of what it had to offer. Though I’d probably have to ask a lot of questions. Maybe even ask if you were into writing fiction… I know that’s a popular one with some circles.”
There was a soft playful tone in there as he put the device around his neck. Raising a brow after a few moments.
”Rather small yeah. Sometimes it takes time for the adventure to come and find you. Oh? The scars? Well…”
The man rolled up a sleeve and patted his arm; showing off the burn scars there. There were a few scratches and a few bite scars here or there but nothing quite as intense as the burn scars… or the one that went through his hair and on his face!
”The burn scars are from before I was even old enough to own something. The scratches and big one here? They’re from elsewhere. Big one came from getting too close to the sun so to speak. Don’t really know how to explain it without using more terminology that I shouldn’t around here... But if you're really wanting to know I can explain it later in private.”

Kan seemed to be on the same page as her regarding instruments she might like if she tried. Maybe if she took some time off in the digital world she could give it a try some day. Her date's energetic air drumming was amusing, though. She was also glad that she hadn't come off as presumptuous for suggesting they travel together; in fact, Kan responded positively even.
"I can confirm that traveling alone kinda sucks," she admitted with a playful roll of her eyes. "More so in a foreign land."
Sunny kept quiet as Kan then talked for a bit and took his digivice back. She shook her head with a nervous smile after.
"Can't really imagine anything that could prepare you for that, but I'll take your word for it. It might as well all be a fiction novel, especially with how people can just fall right in like they do."
Again she fell silent as this time Kan revealed a scar on his arm to her. Concern instantly flashed over her expression at the sight. Even if the incident that caused the scarring was long over, she seriously doubted that kind of pain could be easily forgotten. Then there were the other imperfections on his skin, smaller scars made from cuts, and.. bites?
She shuddered involuntarily as he vaguely gave an account of his past injuries. It scared her to think of anyone having to endure so much abuse. What he had said hinted at even digimon involvement, something that she had always wondered about working at the coliseum but never had the courage to ask anyone. A shaky breath exhaled through an uncomfortable frown as she gently traced the fingertips of one hand along the prominent burn on the man's arm.
"I guess that decides it, then," Sunny said with a deep sigh, her voice sounding determined. She reached out with both hands to neatly roll the man's sleeve back down. "You really can't be trusted to stay out of trouble, so I'll have to insist on traveling together!" The woman gave Kan's arm a gentle pat.

He honestly wished that he could do some form of instrument. He really did but with how things fell.. He wasn’t even sure he could really manage it with the way that his hands and arms were at the moment. He’d smile just a little bit at her; figuring that her suggestion for traveling together was earnest. He’d pause after hearing that traveling alone and in a foreign area sucked. How right she was there; it’s part of the reason he didn’t go out in shibuya or in the digital world anymore. It’s why him having spirits had emboldened him for that.
”Yeah especially if it’s outside of normal standards…”
Kan chuckled a bit; looking down at the digivice. He could feel snyder in there but the leomon was fast asleep. No danger; no problems. Even if there was he’d probably just be a little more wary. Or awake. But maybe being in such an environment changed his spirit just a bit?
”Only time really can. But that’s part of the fun too. Yeah it’s somewhat strange. As if someone is just making things work or go together.”
He’d snort a bit and then blink as he could see that concern, that she inspected his arm all the same. The burn was the oldest among them; easily. It was probably part of the reason he was so good at his job is because pain was just a normal part of his life. When she traced along the prominent burns he couldn’t help but shiver; people didn’t normally touch him. Or touch him on his scars. They usually just stared!
The man tilted his head a bit at his date; Sunny seeming determined and decided about something. She nicely rolled his sleeve back in place and he’d manage a small smile. But hearing that she insisted that they traveled together made him blink owlishly for a few long moments. A light red flush came to his face and he’d rub the back of his neck; the smile and chuckle that followed suit was equally nervous and equally… hopeful.
”Well I certainly wouldn’t be opposed. If we travel together in the other area I have a home we can rest at between trips. Or even here in the human world. Private fences on both and a lot of space if needed.”
Kan smiled a bit and he’d reach out; maybe it was a little more bold than he should have been but… He felt the need for some reason to do what he was about to do. His fingers would slip between hers and with his other hand he’d slowly pull off his necklace. Going so far as to put it around her neck.
”And this is me promising to you that I won’t go off traveling without you.”
Bold? Yes. Certain? Also yes. But for a spirit wielder to give another their digivice? There was nothing but positive connotations here and even if sunny didn’t understand them she would be able to feel snyder distinctly through that device. And therefore would be able to feel kan too.

Time and experience. Those were things she sorely lacked concerning the Digital World, but it made sense that they were the only things that could remotely prepare anyone for such a wild world. That being said she did have a lot of time and experience with people. Being offered a place of sanctuary in someone's house was by no means a token gesture, and Kan even double downed on it with his second house!
"Oh? That's kind of you to offer, Kan. Although, I do wonder what two adults could do with all that privacy and space while relaxing." Her last comment was said in a coy tone. The woman giggled to herself with a smile as she leaned towards Kan, playfully bumping shoulders against him before straightening her posture.
It was a rare sight of her innocent style of flirting, something that was usually suppressed from the fatigue of deflecting advances while at work.
Her date surprised her a second time when he took her hand and put his necklace on her. Sunny took a quick and puzzled glance down at the man's digivice, then met his gaze again about to protest. He'd be cutting himself off from not only transforming, but the Digital World as well! However, words failed her when she saw that look in the man's eyes, and heard what he had to say.
She lightly squeezed his hand in her grasp, so caught up in the sentiment that she didn't realize how hot her cheeks were getting.
"I'll take good care of it," she finally answered back softly, with an equally tranquil smile, "and you, too." Her second hand clasped reassuringly over the hand she was already holding.
"You have my word, Kan."
