"Fun Park, huh?" The young woman's tone was a little skeptical, as was her expression as she stared up at the large entrance banner.
It literally read 'Fun Park' in big black letters as if patrons couldn't tell they were walking into an amusement park of some kind. Then again... The place was tucked away in the Server Woods, with strings of lights hanging from trees to guide the way. The human glanced to the other people slowly trickling into the place. They were mostly rookie digimon and younger still. Probably traffic from the Village of Beginnings and Rosewood, she figured.
A few Kozenimon could be seen working the entrance, selling and taking tickets. One who had caught her eye waved to Nin, and she waved back with a small smile. Being sent to a corner of the Digital World wouldn't have been her first pick for a date, but she was willing to give this a try. In one of her hands she held a small red box tied with a pink ribbon. It might have been a childish sentiment, but she liked the tradition regardless. Maybe it'd even bring her good luck when White Day rolled around.
As a few more small digimon passed her by Ninkyo continued to wait patiently, twirling the fractal code she used to spirit evolve around the fingers of her free hand.

MACHINE_SOUL: HOW D A R E YOU CONDEMN ME TO THIS HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE FATE, MY GENERAL
MACHINE_SOUL: I'M IN THE DARK AREA. IT'S LONELY. I HATE IT HERE. I WANNA GO HOME. I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT A DATE IS.
Hirata: There's a lesson to be learned from that, Java. It's called heck around and find out.
Akitsugu didn't like having to be stern with Java, but sometimes it was necessary. Signing your boss up for a blind date, nice of a gesture as it may be, is something you usually do after asking them if they wanna get signed up. But, his hometown never raised quitters, did it?
No. Besides, there's a whole lot of things wrong with standing someone up. It's cruel. It's unusual. It's something that would never sit well with him if he did it. Besides, it's a date either way. You bring your best to these. So, today's travels would take Akitsugu to a place titled...Fun...Park?
That was more than a little on the nose for an amusement park for rookies, but there was an advantage to the fact that there were...well, rookies everywhere. It made the lone human stand out! The young man would make a calm approach. Collected for how nervous he admittedly was.
...Army's not here. Just be you.
"Hey! I'm guessing you're my date for tonight, right?" Don't mess it up- "You look great!"

She waved away the fragments of fractal code she had been playing with when she noticed someone headed her way. Honestly she was a bit relieved to see it was another human. He looked to be around her age as well! Although, he didn't really dress like a teenager. Ninkyo's eyes were lingering on his attire as he greeted her, but she offered a smile as she made eye contact after.
"Thanks! You're looking great yourself, Prince Charming," she said in a friendly tone as she gave him another brief look over. "Not quite my style, but you definitely kill it, y'know? I'm Ninkyo, but 'Nin' is good with me. It's nice to meet you, and Happy Valentine's Day!"
She held out the small red box to her date, still smiling as easily as if she were greeting an old friend. It didn't dawn on the young woman that she might have been one of the few to be willingly participating in this event. Regardless, she still thought it was a cute tradition for girls to give boys chocolate today.
"Don't worry, it's not obligatory chocolate I picked up at the last minute!" she was quick to say with an honest chuckle. "It's good stuff. I've had a lot of practice making things like that for a big family back in Yokohama."

Fractal code...that probably indicated just what sort of digitally aware person she was. But, that did not really matter right now, did it? Of course, being called Prince Charming immediately brought a fluster to Akitsugu that could not be helped. "Hey, you're killing it too. My name's Akitsugu, but Aki's fine too, Nin. It's a pleasure." He put on a friendly smile.
"And a happy Valentine's to you too." And with that, he'd accept the chocolate box. Well, the lady seemed to be enjoying herself so far, right? "I didn't think it was store bought or anything! My family's a bit like that too, I'm from Kumamoto. Extended family used to do that all the time." He explained, before looking to the entrance of the park.
"Do wonder if the park's not going to melt them, though." He mused idly, before shaking his head. "So, Nin! Wanna head inside?" Despite the onslaught of childlike Digis heading out, it still seemed like a place you'd LIKE to call Fun Park. Or was it? Only way anyone could dare to find out is if they actually headed inside! Aki'd offer a hand for Nin. Question was, would she take it?

Seeing her date get distracted by her playful compliment was a cute scene. Her smile also widened as he gave her a compliment right back! Nin didn't really care to dress in anything particularly girly. Aki didn't seem to be lying about her chocolates, either. For such a random encounter these were good signs! She couldn't help but glance to the amusement park with a thoughtful hum next, though.
"So long as there's no fire they should be fine?" she offered with a nonchalant tone, and an equally unbothered expression. An audible smirk tugged her lips into a one sided smile after. "Besides, even if they do melt you still accepted them, right? That's way more important to me, anyways. Buuut, if the unfortunate does happen, I can always make you another batch next time," she teased with a chuckle.
Nin was fully aware that Aki had offered his hand at that point, but she didn't take it. Instead she hooked her hand around the bicep of Aki's extended arm while moving next to him.
"Right beside you, Aki," Nin said smoothly as she smiled again. She then gave his arm a gentle tug as she took the first step forward and got them moving towards the entrance. A few of the KoZenimon workers gathered at the entrance as they approached and invited them through with excited waves and hops.
"I guess they knew we were coming? Or maybe you're just my new lucky charm." Either way she was looking forward to free rides!

Aki did not think he'd find much to appreciate today, but Nin did manage to pull off the punk aesthetic really well. "Yeah, they should be." Rest assured, though, he was gonna protect those chocolates with his li- Okay, maybe that was a touch extreme, but he felt like there was some obligation to take care of a date's chocolates, right? "Deeefinitely wouldn't mind more, though. Or maybe I could bake you some in return!"
A small part of him had anticipated Nin going the extra mile to take his whole arm instead of his hand, so that didn't fluster him as much as that did...But, he gave a grin of confidence. "Hey, maybe you might be mine. Or it could be both, I'm good with either." It was peculiar that they were able to get in for free. Maybe there was a deal? Regardless, the park was...a park in every sense of the word. There were concessions and rides as far as the eye could see, and a lit up sign advertising a...mirror house.
"So, I'm going to be honest and say I've never been to one of these. Do people usually just get food or go on rides first? Because I'm pretty sure we've definitely got free rides, so..." He trailed off, looking at the sign. "Wanna go there?" He had been walking with Nin in tow, and he took a pause at the sign and the direction it led. It was...oddly spacious. Less rookies running around there.

"An exchange sounds good to me!" The idea that Aki would go through the effort of making sweets was in itself a sweet notion. Most of the guys she knew that returned the favor just went for store bought stuff, so the extra work was certainly appreciated by Nin. Aki not being bothered by her taking a hold of his arm was also a nice gesture. He seemed so formal at first what with his attire, but she was glad that he turned out to be pretty relaxed about this.
"We'll go with both," she said with a chuckle. Both was good. She couldn't really argue either way, not that she wanted to. As they started to explore the fun park called Fun Park Aki asked about what they should do. Nin looked a little surprised that he'd never been to one before; it made her wonder what growing up in Kumamoto was like.
"It's a fun park," she said with an easygoing smile at first, like that would explain things. "You can do whatever you feel like doing to have fun. Since we got a free pass tonight we might as well take advantage of it." Their shameless spree of running wild as it were would apparently begin with a mirror house. She wasn't opposed to the idea, though.
"Let's give it a try! If you've never been in one before you might enjoy it!" Nin smiled and Aki and nodded in agreement. As they walked towards the entrance of the structure a pair of demiveemons scampered away from the attraction's exit, running as fast as their little legs would carry them. They both looked like they were about to cry, but neither seemed to be stopping for anything as they ran past the human couple.
"..guess they got spooked by all the mirrors? Poor little guys."

The thing here was that Kumamoto did likely have a park or two, but Aki had never actually been to one. Just wasn't his thing as a kid, and whether or not it'd be the same here? Well, that was yet to be seen. At the very least, he was pretty sure he wasn't a boring date.
...That'd suck.
But, you know what doesn't suck? The compromise. Good luck charms. "Well...yeah, it certainly looks like a fun park." As if there was some sort of basis for what made a fun park...actually fun? Eh. They still had the whole night to enjoy the free pass, so why not start it at the mirror house?
Actually heading there revealed an already terrified group of kids (DemiVeemon, or Chibimon, as some might call them) running away. Huh. Weird! "I hear the mirrors distort your reflection, so maybe they got scared of that...? I don't really blame them." Aki would cap that off with a simple shrug of the shoulders. "Should at least be interesting to look at." Who knows, maybe they were like how they were in cartoons?
Proceeding past the point where the DemiVeemon had emerged, Aki would enter the mirror house with Nin in tow. It was dark. There was a corridor ahead with NOTHING but mirrors on the wall, and it was eerily quiet!

She wondered if Aki was a bit skeptical about the setting of their date. Then again, he was all dressed up so perhaps something a bit more formal suited his tastes? She'd have to poke and pry, later.
Her gaze flickered from the fleeing DemiVeemons back to her date when he commented on them.
"Yeah, you're probably right about that. That must mean they have some good ones, then. At least there's other rides for the kids to enjoy."
She passed through the entrance of the mirror house in step with Aki. The dim lighting surprised her at first, but she supposed it was so the many mirrors could bounce the illumination around to create an unnatural mood. With so many mirrors reflecting each other she almost missed a few gaps between the walls opening up into more dark corridors. As advertised however, there was a never ending display of altered realities for their viewing pleasure. There were some that wouldn't have been possible in their own world, too!
"Look at that one!" said Nin as she pointed to one of the mirrors on Aki's side of the wall. Through the craziness that practically powered the Digital World, the mirror she pointed to had swapped their clothes. Nin smirked and gave a crisp salute to their reflections with her 'gauntlet covered hand.'
"Don't worry, Sir. Even if that is my skirt you're still killing it!"
She couldn't help the burst of soft laughter that followed, but that quickly died when the entrance doors closed with a heavy thud that echoed down the many corridors. That was supposed to happen. Right? Regardless her grip on Aki's arm tightened just a little as she glanced back at the sealed exit.
"Hmm," she hummed quietly with an uncertain expression.

Y'know, when the place was literally called FUN, it did warrant at least a little doubt from Aki, but he seemed more than willing to roll with it. To it's credit, his date was fun so far! So, yeah, maybe people being scared of the funny mirrors meant that they were, in fact, of a higher quality than most mirrors.
The lighting of the inside of the house was pretty dim, so that's probably part of what spooked those kids...But they weren't really important. What was? The abundance of goddamn mirrors. Aki paused at the Clotheswapper 100, stared for a few seconds before he brought a hand up to his mouth to stifle some actual snickering.
"Dang right I am!" Okay, he was laughing a bit now, even as he saluted himself! Of course, the brief bit of humor was interrupted with a heavy THUD as the door closed. "...Not to be captain Obvious but...wasn't that our only exit?" That they knew of. So, the only way left was forward, with more mirrors...
...How long was this place? "...C'mon. There's probably another exit somewhere, yeah?" Aki was...at least trying to be reassuring. Not scared. Nope.

She was glad that Aki could laugh at their warped reflections. Beneath that proper and formal looking exterior he was the same as her in one fashion: they were just two young adults trying to have fun. Things really didn't need to get anymore complicated than that. The entrance door shutting closed did complicate things a little bit, though.
"Your guess is as good as mine, Captain," replied Nin as her expression calmed. "You're right, though. There's gotta be another exit down one of the corridors." Probably, anyways. Maybe that's what had scared those kids away earlier. Either way that was a weird feature to have in a house of mirrors.
A spinning mirror hiding another pathway, though? That sounded about right. Some of the dim lighting flashed across the human pair for a second as one such mirror did just that. Stepping out from behind the rotating surface a Black PawnChessmon stepped into the hall ahead of them. Its armored footsteps echoed as it turned to face Aki and Nin before thumping the butt of its small spear on the floor.
"None shall pass," spoke the digimon emphatically before standing silent.
"What?" Nin asked out loud to no one in particular as she squinted at the digimon skeptically.
"None shall pass!" repeated the PawnChessmon as it thumped its spear again. More armored footsteps echoed from adjacent corridors as another rotating mirror behind the dating couple spit out another Black PawnChessmon.
Things didn't need to get complicated tonight, but that clearly wasn't going to be the plan here. Nin let out sigh as she looked back and forth between the two digimon.
"The entrance is closed? We all need to continue forward," she said trying to reason with the digimon.
"Then you will die!" retorted the first Black PawnChessmon.
". . . what?" asked Nin again equally as skeptical as the first time, but this time intending it.
"NONE SHALL PASS!" shouted the second Black PawnChessmon as it thumped its spear like the first had.

Something very interesting had made itself apparent in that moment--and that was the fact that these two were akin to two peas in a pod. Even in what was quickly becoming rapid amounts of duress, Akitsugu could still find himself snickering at Nin's jest as he started walk down the corridor.
There was usually some sign showing where an emergency exit would be in the real world in places like this, right? So...why wasn't there one here? His footsteps found pause, however, at the sight of a very fast, spinning mirror that promptly spat out...!
Oh.
A Digimon. Well, it didn't REALLY spit it out, but Aki found himself a bit stumped at how to respond to it. None shall pass? He turned to look at the other recently spat out Black PawnChessmon, and sighed right after Nin did. "Alright, Monty Python, I regret to inform you that I've got at the very least three things that you lack. One, a brain. Two, a nice date, and three..." A flick of the wrist on the hand that had his Xros Loader would deploy the real best purchase from the site shop, barring fuzzy dice.
...
A hardlight baton. "A shiny stick. So, you either let us pass or I'm about to take exception to that."
Unfortunately, Aki did not think the Black PawnChessmon had the smarts to consider a word he was saying.
This was unfortunate.

There was no telling what to expect tonight. A blind date in the Digital World? Anything and everything was free game at that point. However, as Aki counted off things these digimon didn't have, Nin's gaze was inevitably drawn back to the young man after the second item of his list had been called out. A small smile tugged at her lips despite their ridiculous situation right now. Then Aki made a quick gesture to extend his hardlight baton, and threatened the Black PawnChessmon with it.
"Huh. So my Captain is really a General?" asked Nin rhetorically as she stared at the unique device emitting the luminescent beat stick. Her brows raised in approval. "Nice."
"We move for no mon," called out the first Black PawnChessmon doggedly.
"Or human!" chimed in the second Black Pawnchessmon immediately after its counterpart finished speaking.
Both digimon thudded the butts of their spears against the floor in unison to emphasize their resolve.
"Backs against the wall in a dark, cramped alley. Even all the way out here I almost feel like I'm back home again," joked Nin softly as she shook her head with a chuckle. She was already pulling her D-Tector out of a jacket pocket as a ring of fractal code flared to life around her opposite hand. "Gonna guess that it was you two that scared those kids earlier, and to interrupt a date immediately after? That's pretty shameless. So in this case I don't mind doing things the hard way either."
Nin ran her D-Tector across her exposed coding while only saying a single word:
"Execute."
A flash of light later, and a Tinkermon was left floating where the young woman had been standing. Even if she was a lot smaller now Nin's voice retained its confidence from before.
"I'm with you all the way, Aki!"

Indeed, tonight had been very much left to the whims of fate. A blind date in any other place? Would definitely have been more of a mundane and absolutely not hazardous date in the slightest, but this? This was going to turn into violence against chess piece-themed knights.
Which was pretty much what Akitsugu had been expecting, though he, again, had been hoping one of these Black PawnChessmon was smart enough to not do this! He had been sorely mistaken. And holding a cool pose holding the shiny beat stick forward. Which was something Nin thought was pretty nice, apparently!
...That eased some worries. Truly.
"Yep. Pretty shameless, so..." He took a deep breath. "I'm with you too." He told Nin as she proceeded to spirit evolve into...!
...A Tinkermon. That was legitimately one Digimon he had never seen before, so he was at least taken aback at how small Nin became. "Alright, let's go!" He shouted as he pretty much lunged forward for a Black PawnChessmon, swinging the Hardlight Baton with as much force as he could for the helm of the chess piece!

As expected of a proper general Akitsugu shouted the call to battle before leading the charge. Nin chose to follow his lead flying beside him and leaving the other PawnChessmon fuming behind them.
"What? Running away, ey?!" the knightly digimon protested as it was left behind.
The digimon Akitsugu had attacked raised its shield to defend itself, but the heavy blow made the protective metal barrier crash back down on its owner's head. The PawnChessmon shouted out in pain from the impact as the ringing of metal on metal echoed in the hall. It took a step back to steady itself before thrusting forward with its spear towards the human in retaliation.
A flash of crimson swished through the air as Nin swung her own spear to meet the attack. The Tinkermon parried and redirected the thrust to the side, shattering a mirror in the process. She kept pushing though, keeping the other digimon's weapon pinned against another cracking mirror and her own spear.
"Come and get what's coming to ya!" shouted the other PawnChessmon as he started running towards the melee.
"Aki, you got this guy here?" asked Nin as she glanced over her shoulder at their advancing opponent, "I can get the other!"
