Terminus City Job B: Subway Maintenance
Two figures stood in the Trailmon Terminal, one fresh sized digimon and an average sized human. The both of them seemed calm, though the boy wore a nearly emotionless demeanor as his hair dragged across his face from the strange tunnel breeze. His hands sat restlessly in his pocket as he fiddled with the shape of the digivice sitting in his pocket, thinking about his most recent events. He was wearing his school uniform, his blazer loosely attached to his shoulders and stapled to him with his black backpack.
"Listen....whatever your name is."
"Choromon!" The tiny digimon bounced twice in a combination of excitement of it's own name and disbelief he already forgot.
Sigh...."Whatever.", Rex pinched his nose with a visible frustration setting in. "What is it that you...do?" He asked ,exchanging his glance from the edge of the tunnel to the baby digimon with a slightly raised brow. His foot hung over the small edge as he debated stepping in before awaiting this 'partner'.
"I uh...do....stuff?"
Rex stopped his movement, halting completely for a second with an unblinking gaze as if expecting him to say 'just kidding' but was only met with silence. "Okay." he didn't sigh or show any further emotion, simply pondered about what exactly it was going on and what he would have to face going forward. Now his only hope of survival was himself and a shiny metal computer mouse with electric bolts for eyebrows and very little idea about what it could actually do. "Well I guess we wait then, we need money to do anything I'd assume, and I don't think you guys take Yen." He wasn't accustomed to being in a position where he was unable to actually leverage some type of skill, trait or money. He had to start from the beginning which made him feel pretty excited overall, though he wouldn't show it. Now was the time for Rex to put himself to the ultimate test.

Hinoka knew that whomever she was working with, was already down in the tunnels. Having being told, moments before, by the Monitamon who led this station. A small box-headed Digimon, somewhere between one of those old TVs they STILL used in the school and a cheap ninja from a late-night low-budget movie.
In fact, she had purposely waited for time to pass. Just for the chance to make a flashy entrance.
After waiting a half-an-hour up top, loitering by the station entrance, watching as a whole horde of the strange little creatures boarded on or off the Trailmon. Hinoka decided enough was enough. She picked up her wooden wand which was merely a tree branch and twirled it between her fingers. Picturing in her mind, this spectacle to come.
Smirking to herself, Hinoka followed the instructions given to her by the Monitamon. After walking away from the platforms and through a side-door, which led to a deep tunnel. This tunnel and all those that led from it, were dark, dusty and clearly underused. Judging by the amount of tools lying around, it was also under maintenance. Which led to another question, why were they being asked to do this job.
Either way, after a short time and an even shorter walk. She found the very tunnel that she had been shown by the Monitamon.
Hinoka picked up the pace, turning from a walk into a jog and finally into a run. Until, in the distance, she saw a shadow of a human. Once more, she smirked to herself.
“Have no fear! I am here! The great and amazing Arch Wizard! I’m sure you know my name already, but if somehow you do not. Allow me to enlighten you! My name is...” She threw down a lit firecracker which popped excitedly at her feet for several seconds.
“Hinoka Homura! Today, I am at your service or rather, I say, you’re at mine! Because as one, we shall succeed at this arduous task!”
She continued on and just as she reached the still shadowy human shape, slipped on a slimy pipe underfoot and nearly fell on her face. Only managing to stop herself, by performing large windmills with her arms.
At the very last second, she managed to turn the almost fall into a pose, something like an action hero might do. Holding her wand up high and smirking, impressed with her own skill and daring.

Beyond the 'digimon' there were two other things sitting in the darkness with him, the sound of dripping water and the fact he still had no idea what he was supposed to be doing. An overwhelming feeling of dread comfortably wrapped around him as he thought of all the things he could possibly not know but it remained a rather shallow experience as his cool-headed nature seemed to deviate from anything other than planning. The weight over his shoulders lightened as he plunged himself into deeper thought, his digital companion comfortably whistling random tunes beside him.
A moment turned to several, several turned a few minutes and he was genuinely unsure how much time had passed by before he heard the sound of feet shuffling behind him. He stopped, listening as the feet sounded distant, yet approaching, turning smoothly to face the darkness with a straight face while his partner continued whistling beside him. He placed a foot on it's back, squishing him mildly as he squeaked in response, kind of like a rubber duck, he'd be sure to do that again later. "Hey what's the big ide-" He stopped, as Rex lifted his foot and the monster turned to the sound of rustling, or maybe hissing?
All the two could see was a figure illuminated by a suddenly display of fireworks, the baby digimon looking on in complete awe. "That's SO COOL" he announced, not too long after the figure made their announcement themselves. Rex immediately began to figure out if they had run into some homeless figure in the subway tunnel, not too uncommon back in the city and he was wondering if it applied in this world as well.
"Quiet, Choromon." He added, after a few moments the figure spoke again, her voice echoing through the tunnel with a form of authority, moving again towards them he picked up his hands and moved into a defensive position, bouncing as he did so only to have her slip, catch herself and pose just short of the unlikely duo. He stopped, unsure of what exactly just happened as he examined the figure up and down, she was roughly his age maybe? She was definitely his height, the two looked eye to eye easily but they dressed...well...nothing alike. Her body was draped in some kind of larp gear, her leg was wrapped which caught his eye first.
"Cute, but should you be walking on that thing...Hinoka." It took a moment for him to recall the single piece of key information she had given him, as composure remained as he continued to examine her, at least he got to meet another human. "Every party needs a wizard, right, Choromon?"
His eyes falling onto the silver peripheral device who was completely in shock it eyed the red eyed teen. "Cu-Cu-Cu" He began before running around in several circles and straight up Rex's leg, perching on his shoulder. "COULD YOU DO THAT AGAIN!?" Rex facepalmed as the creature shouted.
"This is going to be a long one...Rex, by the way, I said it before but this is Choromon, the pleasure if mine I'm sure, Arch-Wizard." He extended a hand to shake hers, before turning his head and looking further down the hall, "I don't think we're much further out from the job site, know anything I don't?"
He had the option of deflating her or boosting her, and having to rely on her might mean he needed her to stay as positive as she showed up. Especially because he wasn't sure just how much he could do himself.

As Hinoka regained her composure, after her almost fall. The ‘wand’ or rather stick pulled from the branches of a tree spinning in the palm of her hand. “Oh the leg, just a war wound. You know big battle, can’t really talk about it. Probably, too gory for your ears. Don’t worry about it. I’m fine.”
Smirking for the third time, she added, “I am an Arch Wizard, after all.” Before stepping forward, away from the low hanging light which swung above.
“Easy there, skippy. They’ll be plenty of time for more awesome, later on,” Hinoka said, turning and pointing a finger to the little silver Digimon. Giving a quick glance to the guy who stood beside him.
“Tall, dark, mysterious… You must be… the other guy.”
She walked forward another few steps, without paying too much attention of whatever they were saying. “Oh and it’s very nice to meet you, Pooch, Mouse.”
“Yeah, probably. I am pretty in the know around here. The boss gave me a few hints. The Monitamon looked pretty… freaked out, actually. And they’re usually deadly serious too. Barely give me the time of day, like I’m just play acting this whole thing.”
The smirking Arch-Wizard turned to look at the pair, as if daring him to answer her back. “Basically, I was told to expect stinky, gross and dank… but I’m not sure if he was meaning the tunnel or… whatever lies within.”
“But whatever it is. I can handle– ”
At that second, a drop of water dripped from the ceiling, down her neck. Hinoka jumped, lost her footing for the second time and almost dropped her wand. The epic façade she was been building up broke, instantly.
“Oh, damn this place. It’s so dark and stinky. I’m a really really cool, no no, awesome, wizard. I should be going on really cool quests, like fighting giant dragons or something. Not walking through the train version of the sewer system with resting grump face and a piece of kitchen equipment.”
The young Arch Wizard’s face had turned red, almost blushingly so. But she had fallen outside of the range of the swinging light so it was hard to tell if he had noticed.

War wound. Hm.
Rex made a point of not folding his arms as she spoke, he was definitely apprehensive as she spilled forth from her mouth a flurry of letters and vowels and for a moment, Rex raised a brow. She moved from the visible grime and muck beneath the lamp to a more suitable dark area as she continued this charade, and he couldn't help but feel a bit perplexed. Something felt off to him and he wasn't quite sure what it was, maybe it was her dismissive attitude and how quickly she tried to get in and out of the situation, already goading the two deep into the tunnel as the 'lead'. Before Rex could even say anything Choromon bounced on his shoulder exclaiming, "Oh. My. Gosh. She's my new favorite arch-wizard! I...I didn't even have an old favorite arch-wizard actually." The digimon trailed off as the girl referred to him as tall, dark and mysterious before also naming him 'Pooch'.
So she clearly heard him, and in fact came up with a name completely different, but not irrelevant to Rex. He smirked. He liked her already. "Hiya, Pooch! I'm Mouse!" The digimon barked, laughing so hard it fell off his shoulder.
"Shut it." He responded, half smirking as he followed beyond the younger girl, it took a few moments but his eyes would adjust as they moved through the tunnel. Everything she described he had heard already, not sure about how freaked out the digimon was though, but it was half way through yet another bold claim she fell down, completely losing composure and embarrassing herself mildly and again, words simply flew from her mouth incoherently. Instinctively, he grabbed his phone, turning on the flashlight and looking around as he walked closer, there was nothing he could see.
"Is she oka-"
"Shh." He began, "Watch this."
He moved towards her, leaning forward next to her as his phone illuminated the ground and his shoes. "You're kind of cute when your face is that red." He nearly laughed, throwing a hand in his pocket as he kept his phone out scouting ahead. "I'd help you up but you don't need my help, right, Merlin?"
"Oh sorry, Arch-Wizard." amused with himself, he stopped to face her a short distance away, "Sounds like he described a tunnel, but right now you might fit that description too. How much do you think he'll give me if I turn you in?"
"A Big BIG reward for an Arch-Wizard I think!" Choromon chimed in as the duo moved on ahead of her, the sound of dripping liquid was the only audible noise at the moment but for some reason Rex didn't quite feel like they were alone.

By now, her face had turned the same red color as the tunic that she wore. She turned her face away, so it feel into shadow. Pulling her wizard hat straight and straightening her cloak which had dropped several inches.
Or she thought she had hidden her blush. Until, the big idiot came closer and shined his phone right in her face. “What is your problem!”
Now a little annoyed, she threw her hand out as if to knock him away. “Anyway...” She said, coughing to avoid mentioning her blush.
“I thought you’d know that ‘Merlin’ is a great compliment. But, I’m going to be an even better wizard than him! You just wait and see.” She stood up to her full height and stared at Rex, squarely in the eyes. “Just mark my words! I’m going to be the very best Arch Wizard this world has ever seen.”
“Now, where were we,” she grumbled, ignoring his following insult about the tunnel and herself. But her mouth continued to redden as he spoke. Hinoka took several steps forward, deeper into the tunnel. But before she got too far ahead, she turned once again. Her face filled with a mix of curiosity and increasing frustration.
“That reminds me. Why are you two… so...” Hinoka paused, questioning her next words carefully. A smirk cut across her face, for the fourth time. “Like a super secret boy band? Or what, super heroes? You gonna try to save the world, Beethoven?”
After a second, she added a verbal addendum, “I only ask because the last guy didn’t have one either.”
Hinoka continued onward. The length of tunnel seemed to stretch on for who knows how long. So hopefully it wasn’t going to be too much longer of a walk. Not to mention, the longer they walked the greater, the smell was. Like a mix of week-old garbage and that abandoned and desolate house that no-one has entered for twenty years. You know the one. Not only that, but the metal piping that formed a path was growing more sticky and gross.
“So, Snoopy. You getting that same bad feeling, I’m getting?” Hinoka asked, but before she could say another word. Fate dealt the poor Arch Wizard a foul hand.
Something disgustingly soft squished her boot. Once again, Hinoka’s façade broke. She let out a high-pitch shriek and jumped backwards.
“That’s so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so gross!” “Why me! Why me, why me,” Hinoka could be heard muttering to herself as she tried to wipe the pink goop away from the bottom of her boot on the railing.

Her reaction couldn't help but bring a smile to his face. "Reignited." He whispered as she addressed him, announcing her future standing as the future best arch-wizard that has ever existed. It was interesting to see someone this emotional, this fired up to do anything and what was more impressive to him was how easily she got into his face. She was fearless, albeit redder than she'd like, but he had to admire the courage she had in her whether her head was on correctly or not was another story, however.
Choromon chimed in, taking her side as per usual, "Yeah Rex, and you'll be the next...great...aren't...wizard?" The small mon crawled up his tamer once more and whispered to him quietly as though to hide his lack of confidence from the wizard herself. "Did...did that make sense?"
"I don't know, you tell me, kiss up." The Choromon blushed, his cheeks lighting up like hot metal as he smiled once more, before returning his face to its standard affair. Following behind the girl as she questioned him again, his eyes traced the outlines of various pipes, vents and tracks as he moved through, his phone scanning walls and ceiling for clues of any sort of problem. He turned up empty.
Hearing her voice as she barked more insults at him he paused, aiming his phone at her for a moment before he retorted. "Sorry, can you say that one more time for me, I got lost in your eyes." A smirk crawled across his face as he moved the phone and continued walking, she still maintained the lead but he was sure his words were starting to get to her.
"What's a Beethoven? Is it delicious?" Choromon chimed as he curiously began to wonder what she chose to call Rex this time, this cultural reference flying straight over the infants head.
The tunnel was dark, it was gross and the sound of gravel beneath his feet was the only thing that kept him company, normally he'd begin to whistle but not knowing what was around he wasn't sure that was a great idea. The smell in the tunnel filled the air like a thick miasma, it would have surely choked the two had they walked in and it was immediately this pungent. He couldn't locate its source but he was noticing green streaks across the walls here and he wasn't sure what the cause was. It looked like green jello smeared against the tunnel walls, the neon hue refusing to fade even in this place, it was strange but he wasn't quite sure why.
The girl had finally spoken again, Choromon answering first, "What even is a Snoopy?"
"You talking to me, Merlin?" He responded, his gaze still following various streaks across the walls and ceilings of the structure as the darkness continued to stretch onward and onward.
"This tunnel smells just like...like...I don't think I know enough to make a joke here..." Choromon sighed, only to be alerted by the scream of the arch-wizard, nearly flying into him as she jumped back.
"Whoa there, what's going o-" He began, only to hear slushing and squishing behind him followed by a loud plop. He turned quick, only to see a green slime with bug eyes sliding in towards him. "What...is that?" The boy made a move to grab the wizard and jump to the side, he'd rather not be placed between a slug and whatever she touched. Hopefully she wouldn't be upset he attempted to move her but they did have very many options between two encroaching...things. He needed a plan of action and fast.

The poor Arch Wizard was having a rough day, that’s for sure.
First, she had been forced to deal with the likes of Poochy and his pet. Now, she had stepped in something that she assumed was the digital equivalent of...
D - I - S - G - U - S - T - I - N - G! So, in true, 'Hinoka problem-solving fashion'. The poor girl was standing on one foot. Screaming to herself whilst trying to rub away the sticky pink goop on a railing.
But it appeared the worst was yet to come. Rex had clearly seen something that Hinoka in her panic had missed. “WhAt Is WhAt!!!” Hinoka cried shrilly, still standing on one foot. But before she got a answer. She was pulled unceremoniously off the path by Rex.
“HEY! What do you think you’re doing! Unhand me! I am an Arch Wizard!!!” Hinoka said at the top of her voice. Fortunately, by this point. Rex had pulled Hinoka, down a small shaft to the side of the path. So the gross, bug-eyed monster didn’t see them.
Judging by the clutter of metal tools scattered across the grating. This area was used to store the equipment of the works during the hours maintenance wasn’t being performed.
Meanwhile, the Numemon slithered forward, slowly. Leaving a long and rather disgusting trail of green goop behind it. The body of the creature was slug-like and violently green, except for a series of large purple dots. A long pink tongue stuck out from a mouth that appeared far too large for the body and hung limply.
It paused for a second, the large stalked eyes blinking. Blood shot and uncomprehending. “So… uh… what was that? I thought I… uhhh… I thought I heard something in the tunnel.” It said, slowly.
The bulbous eyes focused on the squished pink goop with a large footprint. “Oh my. That’s not… um… um… what is the word again…” The Numemon paused and the tongue moved from side to side, as it considered.
“I should and uhhh… do something, but… uhhh I forgot.”
Smirking, Hinoka looked at Rex. “You see that, Bones. It’s not very smart. We could definitely get past it. We just need some bait.”
“How about you send your little computer mouse to distract it and then we can…” Hinoka said, picking up some of the heavy tools and imitated bonking it on the head. “Unless you have any brighter ideas?”
It was at this point that she could have mentioned her abilities to transform into a Digimon. A skill that she was still growing used too. But this plan seemed better, at least for now.
“What say you, Scooby?”

Choromon's nose may not have been well developed, but even he was completely grossed out by the odor of the green digimon. A simple "Ewwwwwww" escaped him as Rex raised a brow, giving him a look of disapproval as he risked their capture. He was surprised the digimon didn't see him, in fact, he was worried he would have had them found out the moment he turned his light in its direction but watching the monster clumsily look around he realized he was a bit of an idiot. His initial thought was 'Finally someone Merlin could have a conversation with.'but what came out was, "Nice, you got some you on your shoe."
She spoke to him about getting around the green slug, even asked him to use Choromon as bait, his eyes switching between the two as Choromon stuttered "B-b-but Arch-Wiz-z-zard I...I thought we were friends!"
"Yeah sacrifice the baby, nice." Rex sighed, he looked straight ahead and ignored them both as he thought, his body reacting on its own as he picked himself up and spoke just once, "If you want to attack that's up to you." His voice cold as he reached for the first metallic object he could find, a wrench, as he moved towards the digimon without a second thought.
"Oy." He said, the wrench tucked behind his back in his right hand as he waved with his left. "I'm a bit lost could you help me out?" He said, approaching calmly as the stench became more and more pungent. "I was told the boss was throwing a pizza party down there." He added, turning his body a bit and facing the left end of the tunnel, pointing as he said, "There's supposed to be a sign down there, do you see it?" Hoping to distract the slug he waited a moment before whipping his hand and tossing the wrench as far down the opposite direction as possible, waiting again for the sound of metal clanging before he jerked to face it. "What...was that?" His face serious as he asked, facing the darkness and signaling subtly for them to walk past him, Choromon barely able to make out his hand, but maybe Hinoka would have better luck.
"I...think he wants us to go?" He questioned, slinking behind Hinoka and hiding behind her. He shivered, scared of the outcome as he hesitated and debated making a break and waiting for the arch-wizard.
Rex continued, "You should check that out...I'll wait here for you to get back. The pizza might get cold so hurry up." If that worked, he would run off with the others, if not, well, let's hope his hands could hurt this slug.

It appeared to the young Arch Wizard that Rex was proceeding with his own plan. As her own ideas had been thwarted by the age old argument, children shouldn’t be used as sacrificial lambs or something like that.
“Fine, do whatever you want. Get yourself slimed over and don’t ask for my help!” Hinoka said, crossing her arms and looking away, now frankly annoyed by his attitude. “Maybe, I will do just that,” she spat back at his remark to ‘attack if she wanted’.
But before she could do anything, Rex stood up and moved out from their hiding place. A wrench clutched in his hand. “Yeah, beat that slug, you mutt!” Hinoka muttered, a smirk filled with excitement cut across her face.
It soon became clear that this was not his plan, though. He approached the Numemon and began to speak to it in a calm and civil sort of manner. The bloodshot eyes focused on Rex and took him in. The long lulling tongue moved from one side of the enormous mouth to the other, licking the sides of the green lips.
“Uhhhh… a party? I can’t believe it!” The Numemon said. Hinoka began to move, thinking the game was up and Rex was about to be attacked by the slug monster. But it opened its mouth again. Its eyes seemed to sparkle. “I…. I… can’t believe the boss remembered my birthday!
Hinoka paused, mid-movement. Not sure what to make of this development. Rex, meanwhile was continuing his plan. With a very basic ‘what was that’, he pointed and threw the metal wrench across the tunnel. It clanged loudly and the Numemon turned his body, distracted for a second.
“You think? Huh. Well, I got a better plan,” Hinoka said, smirking. She stood up and began to fumble in her tunic. Pulling from a pocket, the red device that she had received on her first day in the Digital World. The golden runes cut into the body of the device, glittered oddly. “You should probably wait here. It might get messy.”
Without any trace of fear, Hinoka stepped out and moved in front of Rex. “You might wanna back it up, Clifford. I wouldn’t want your fur to get singed.”
She raised the device and cried to the tunnel. “Spirit Evolution!”
A white light surrounded Hinoka’s body and subsequently filled rest of the dull tunnel. The robe, hat and tunic were replaced by brown-copper like armor. Her hair turned bright orange and puffed up and became ever more wild, like living flames. As did a tail with grew outwards. The end glittered like a series of burning embers. “What say you now, dog boy?”
“I am Hinoka. I am your undoing. I will be the final thing you see!” With a wild flourish, she span her staff which had replaced her wand. A red jewel floated at the end, glittering in the shadows. “Now, let me show you what I mean! Soon you will wish that you have never met me.”
“Woah, you look cool. Uhh…. Like a night light.”
A devilish look crossed Hinoka’s face. “Baby Salamander!” The Arch Wizard held the staff out and a series of bright orange flames erupted from the end in the shape of a dragon's head.
The flames stuck the ugly slug monster before it had chance to move. Although judging by the intelligence of this one. It likely would not have mattered in the slightest. For a second, the Numemon was bright and engulfed in dancing flames. roared in pain and then fell over. Slammed into the pipe wall and fell down, to ooze, sadly.
"Uhhhh... you could have just asked..."
“Oh yeah! How was that! I totally got him!” Hinoka said, taking a moment to revel in her defeat of their foe.
“Come on, Pluto, Mouse. Let’s go. Before more of them come.” After a second of excited jumping up and down, Hinoka ran forward deeper into the tunnel, pausing for a second to add. “Oh and Happy Birthday!”
The limp Numemon moved a little but made no reply.

Rex was successful. No matter what happened next, the guise of his birthday seems to have bought his trust. He could likely tell him he would chase the pursuers, and get away as a group, but Hinoka had another idea.
"Huh?" Rex responded, the words rolling gently off his tongue as he turned only to see the girl thrusting something in front of her and shouting spirit evolution. There was a light than began to emerge from both her and the device, rolling its way through the tunnel and illuminating a number of things most common folk would rather remain hidden. Rex threw his arm before his eyes, blocking the light from harming him as it dulled.
"Spirit Wha- OH!" Choromon chimed as a flaming girl stood before him, "WHY ARE YOU SO COOL!?" he shouted. Rolling over on itself in behind her as he reached for the nearest metallic object, dragging it near Hinoka sluggishly.
Rex, in the meanwhile, found himself bombarded by this new form. The flames nibbled at the air around keeping her mildly visible despite the thick darkness that surrounded her. He ate her up, absorbing every detail and wondering why the heck he couldn't do that, maybe she didn't have a digimon because she was a digimon. She spoke to him though, to which he responded with silence, he was left speechless, Choromon however was not.
As Hinoka called out her spell or whatever, Choromon shouted "Spirit Evolution!" Dropping the hammer he carried before the light from the new flames shot at him. "AH MY EYES!" The digimon was blown backwards as it tried to recover from the dual-edged attack.
Rex stepped a fair distance back, watching the digimon burn and cry out in pain before turning into a puddle on the ground and accepting defeat. Rex was at a loss. Not only was the girl now throwing actual fire, but had screamed, illuminated and caused the crying of both Choromon and the slug thing at the same time. He wasn't sure if he should be impressed, most creatures in the area would have heard or scene that if they were even half a brain cell smarter than the slug. But she was strong, she was going to have to be the main fighting force here.
"It was a disaster, but it worked." He commented, walking over and picking up the dazed Choromon with a smirk, "At least you tried."
"My eyes....What did she do to my eyes..." Choromon whimpered.
He held him for a moment before she called them, running along with her as she moved forward. "Think you overdid it a bit, Merlin?" He asked, catching up to her as they moved closer into the darkness. The smell didn't seem to get any better, but he was pretty oblivious as he thought about what had just transpired. "So are you a digimon or?" He questioned, wondering why she could transform. "Last time I checked, people didn't just turn into flaming monsters at a whim."
"I can't see...I can't sEE!" Choromon cried.
"We're in a dark tunnel, Choromon." Rex replied.
"Oh yeah, you're right."

As her onslaught of flames faded away, Hinoka turned to look at Rex and Choromon. It appeared that her attack had some unfortunate consequences, by accidentally almost blinding the little silver digimon. But she was sure it’d be fine, in time. It wasn’t even her greatest attack. That was something that was exceedingly flashy and explosive to boot. Smirking, as she thought about it. The Arch Wizard stepped forward towards Rex.
Knowing that he would have some kind of comment, regarding her transformation. The scathing look, she shot at him was enough of an answer to any question or comment he may have.
“Overdid it? I, the greatest Arch Wizard that this Digital World has ever seen, just saved your butt in there,” she huffed, crossing her arms. “You’re a real pain in the butt, you know!!
Recomposing herself, Hinoka span her wand around and pointed it directly at Rex. “So, you wanna see what my magic can do? Ey, Droopy?” Although, her tone was joking, her face seemed to burn with a great and dangerous flame. Her mouth tuned up into a smirk.
“But, to answer your question. I’m not a Digimon. I’m… I’m… able to harness an ancient spirit of flames that I can use as my own. It’s quite a long story.” Hinoka puffed herself up to make herself seem even more impressive than she believed herself to be.
Content that she had put her point across Hinoka muttered, pointing a finger down the tunnel. “Shall we go? You know before more of those things arrive!”
“We’ve gotta be close by now. If they’re stationing guards here. If that was… what that was?” The Arch Wizard tilted her head and looked at the gently smoldering and feebly moving body of the fallen Numemon. “I sure hope they’re all that easy! I mean… they should be… I am an Arch Wizard. Wielder of flames, the ‘Destruction Incarnate!’ known as Hinoka Homura!”
“Now, let’s go!” Hinoka said. Leading them further and further down the tunnel. As they went deeper, the lanterns which hung from the rivets in the piping, seem to grow dimmer and dimmer.
