The blue one could not help but find this set of circumstances strange. As one may know, time works very differently between the two worlds. A day in the kid’s is a week in his own.
So, naturally, much time had passed between his falling out with his brother, the red one, and now. Now was a meeting at an old haunt. A place where four friends, now three, used to gather. Now, it was empty. Nature had begun to stake a claim on it.
This was formerly Cloudsong’s refuge. It was abandoned when the Dorbickmon vanished with nary a trace.
“You’re early for a change.” A voice said, footsteps being heard from beyond the stone doors. Which had been ajar. A crimson Veemon emerged, his eyes speaking a tale of their own.
He looked tired. Haggard. Like his travels had gotten the better of him. “Been a while.” Gyo spoke, taking a seat upon the steps. “A couple of years here, yes.” Scarab replied, the Wormmon remaining unmoving. “Are...you well, brother? You look tired.” Stating the obvious, sure...But despite the falling out, they were still family.
“Been better, if I’m being honest. Not all of us get to fall into the role of mentoring a tamer. Dumb as I think it might be.”
That sentence made Scarab quirk a brow. “Guess Aizawa and I are starting to get a reputation?” Or... “Something like that. You know people notice these things. The blue Stingmon doesn’t just go quiet and then show up being accompanied nearly everywhere by a teenager. What...happened?”
“That, I wish I could explain. Forces that I can’t comprehend, that I can’t know...They made a decision that day. For better or worse, our destinies were entwined. ...I hate the fact I had to say that.” A pensive expression crept unto the visage of the Wormmon. Entwined....
The Veemon laughed! “That's cheesy as hell, holy crap! Might as well apply for KIZNA at that rate!”
"You joke, but...Maybe someday. There’s at least one or two members that I know there. Legitimately good people. And yes, I’m vouching for them.” The Wormmon declared, firmly. “So you would. ...I’ll admit, I wanna meet them, but...” He trailed off.
“You fear them. They know who we are. They know what we did. What’s done is done.”
“I know. Feels bad, sure, but I...Thought we were doing something good. Stepping up where others couldn’t. Yet in the end, the spider...”
“Hey, at the very least we learned something. Don't simp for spider women. Knowledge is a wonderful takeaway.”
"Way to downplay the fact we walked out of that terrorists. So, the tamer...wh-"
“What’s he like? ...A little like we are. He’s a good kid, but he’s isolated. You know how humans have parents with them for a big portion of their early life? Hisato’s...Aren’t always there. It’s a little sad, even if it makes the matter of concealment easier. ...His digivice constantly says twin not found, though.”
A peculiarity. “...You dunce.” “Eh?” “Scarab, you actual dunce. Ever since we fell out! You could feel your strength slipping, right?”
Come to think of it... “...A bit. I’ve still been able to win my fights, though.” True, but it was only barely. They were hard fought battles that pushed one to their limits. Battles that...He almost lost.
“You know we can do a jogress. You know most twin pairs can. Why didn’t...”
“Easy. I didn’t want to bring more suffering on you. Not after that day. Not after what happened. I don’t want to bring more now.”
“And what, allow yourself to lose? Isn't family supposed to help each other? Is pride that important?” “What if it is, huh? What's it to you? You’re the one that leapt to follow that damned witch, not me! You’re the one who HATES tamers, wh-"
“If you MUST know, Mr. Terrorist, I want to fucking atone. It’s clear as crystal that this is the way.”
“Hey, so, I've been here for a minute?” A third voice spoke. A human wearing a coat over a protective suit. Hisato Aizawa. “And I can already poke at least one hole in that statement, pal. It's a start, not the way.” Accompanying him was a face the brothers recognized. Caine.
"...So, if you wanted a meeting for secrecy's sake...why did you BOTH send me the place over Tamernet? Why do YOU even have a tamernet?" Caine directed that final statement towards Gyo. "Contact info. Also a few friends like using it to talk."
"Getting sidetracked. So, if I'm getting that brief bit I eavesdropped on right...You, the dragon-shooting terrorist-" "Ex-terrorist." "Shut up, please. Anyways. Ex-terrorist that hates Levi's, want to join up with us because apparently that'll make Scarab stop getting weaker."
"Better reason that chalking it up to age." "Probably. Another pair of hands never hurts, and...to be blunt, I think I can hide three. ...I'd greatly prefer if we didn't get more people wanting to join up, though."
...That was a rather terse start to a partnership.
Thanks for reading...?
