Mandrake, Lothar, and Kshin were waiting near a boat for Hana, Data, and Rush. After a couple of days of prepping for the journey, Mandrake managed to find transportation on a boat owned by an Orcamon. The Orcamon said he was more than happy to provide transportation to and from their destination. Kshin was excited with the prospect of the adventure as he excitedly hopped from his perch on Lothar's shoulder. Mandrake and Lothar were extra careful when making their preparations since they were trying to avoid attracting trouble for one of the pirates that could easily be in the city.
"I can't wait until we get there. This is so exciting." Kshin said in a bubbly tone as he wiggled around more in his excitement.
"Patience, Kshin, we'll be underway soon enough." Mandrake said with a chuckle as his mind was searching for the mental signatures of Hana, Data, and Rush. Yes they would soon arrive. Mandrake could sense them in the distance. Lothar plucked the excited Kshin off his shoulder holding him in one hand as the young Dorimon almost toppled off the Leomon's shoulder.

Hana and the Twins were currently traveling through Whitewater trying to find Mandrake, Lothar and Kshin. They were trying their best to find the three Digimon, but were having a little trouble. Hana knew that Mandrake had telepathic abilities, but neither she nor Data had actually thought to ask how his telepathy worked during their previous encounter. This meant that the trio ended up looking for the other group the old-fashioned way for the past hour or so.
Finally they managed to find the dock where the others were waiting for them. Upon catching sight of them, Hana took off running to catch up to them, quickly followed by Data and Rush.
"Sorry it took us so long to find you guys." Hana apologized to the waiting Digimon, slightly out of breath from running. "This place is harder to navigate than I thought it'd be."
"Yeah, we probably should've done more to coordinate with the three of you." Data agreed. "But we're here now, so we can head out as soon as you guys are ready."

Sure enough Hana and her partners arrived a short time later and were apologizing for not being able to coordinate with them better. Mandrake then said "It's alright, Hana. Whitewater is a big city and between preparing for the trip and getting the captain of this ship to transport us to our destination, I forgot to contact you. Since we're all here now I say we get on board."
Mandrake and Lothar walked on board with Kshin bouncing giddily in Lothar's hand. Lothar set Kshin down so the young digimon could scurry around and keep himself occupied. Kshin then exclaimed "Come on you three! Let's go!" Kshin was running around working off his energy which seemed to be almost endless.
Soon everyone would be on board and then they would be underway the thought of what wonders awaited them fresh in both Mandrake's and Lothar's minds as they gazed out at the sea.

"Well, it's good to see you Kshin. You're still as sweet as always. Boop." Hana said, reaching down to gently boop the Dorimon's nose. "I also brought some sandwiches in case anyone gets hungry along the way."
Once everyone was on board the Orcamon's ship, Hana and Data stood towards the back of the ship, hoping to watch the city pull away as the group set out on their journey. Rush was over by Kshin in order to play with the young Dorimon during the trip.
"I guess we're actually going to be doing this. I never thought the day would come where we'd actually be heading out to fight pirates." Data quietly said, a solemn look on his metal face.
"Yeah. It almost feels like a dream." Hana replied, before suddenly tensing up with a worried look on her face.
"What's wrong, Hana?" Data asked.
"I... just remembered that I can't swim." Hana whispered in reply.

Kshin giggled as Hana booped his nose before going back to scurrying around but this time playing with Rush. It seemed as if Kshin wasn't feeling the same reservations as others around him too caught up in the prospect of finally seeing the ruins of the city and the treasure his family went journeying for.
At Data's statement, Mandrake said "With any luck we won't have to fight them at all while were at the ruins, Data."
"I don't know, Mandrake. Somehow I'm getting a sneaking suspicion that this journey won't be so easy." Lothar said.
Not being one to ignore Lothar's instincts Mandrake said "You may be right, Lothar. So everyone we must be extra careful for we have no idea what dangers could lie ahead."
When Hana mentioned she couldn't swim, Lothar said "Don't worry, Hana, both Mandrake and I can swim so you'll be fine."
"Not only that I can armor digivolve into an ancient fish digimon called Coelamon if needed as well." Mandrake said as thoughts went back to the map they found on Kshin and how the journey was surprisingly short. It was a wonder it wasn't already picked clean of its treasure by other greedy explorers.
After a few hours an island with a vast jungle came into view and Lothar walked off to inform the captain to take a river inland. Soon a cave was seen and taking in what instructions were also on the map but, in an ancient language, he said "The ancient writing on the map also said the entrance to the city would be through a cave near a river that fed into the sea."
Kshin, in awe of Mandrake, said "Wow, Mandrake, how did you read that so fast? It took Grandpa years to decipher the ancient words on the map."
"My father not only trained me in magic, Kshin, but in how to read multiple ancient digimon languages. It helps digimon pick up new languages fairly quickly." Mandrake said as the boat came to a stop. "Well then, time to disembark and hopefully see this treasure for ourselves." Mandrake walked over and picked up Kshin as he and Lothar walked off the ship waiting for Hana and her partners before beginning the next leg of their journey.

"Right. I forgot you could turn into Coelamon." Hana mumbled to herself, slightly embarrassed from the situation.
Once the group arrived at the island and went a ways upriver, Mandrake said that the group would have to travel through a cave to reach the ruins.
"We have to go through a cave?" Hana asked in disbelief. The teen was caught off guard by this revelation. "Darn, I would've brought my flashlight with me if I knew we'd go in a cave."
"Oh well. Nothing we can do about it at this point." Data replied. The Hagurumon was ashamed to admit that he hadn't considered the possibility either. "We'll just have to do the best we can with what we have."
"Like how we couldn't find digimentals for you and Rush to armor digivolve with, but managed to unlock your champion forms anyways?" Hana asked.
"Exactly!" Data gleefully responded. While Hana and Data were talking, Rush floated over towards Mandrake and Kshin.
"Can Rush hold Kshin-friend please?" The Keramon politely asked.

In response to Hana's lack of a flashlight Mandrake said "It's okay, Hana. I have an ability that can help us out." To prove it he created a small version of his Thunder Ball which created a bit of light so they would be able to see in the cave. He dissipated the electricity when Rush asked if he could hold Kshin. "Only if you keep close watch on him, Rush. After all we don't know what dangers lie ahead." After he said that he telekinetically lowered Kshin to the ground before creating the ball of electricity in his palm though he had no issues with being a living flashlight while moving through the cave.
As soon as Rush picked Kshin up they made their way into the cave but Lothar was beginning to grow uneasy the further they went. "Mandrake something about this cave feels off but I can't place my finger on what." Lothar said looking around warily.
Before Mandrake could respond four stone walls closed around them trapping the group but that was not all the two walls on either side of them began closing in. Explained why such nearby ruins hadn't been picked clean since the place was likely littered with booby traps.

Rush kept a firm grip on Kshin, solid enough to not drop the Dorimon but gentle enough to not hurt the young digimon. The Keramon would do his utmost best to make sure that he kept his young friend as safe as possible. As the group walked through the cave, Hana ended up stumbling a little as she stepped on a spot that sunk in when her foot landed on it. Data kept her from falling over, but the teen's misstep ended up setting off a trap where the walls started closing in on the group.
"Oh cra-bapples!" Hana exclaimed, catching herself so as to not swear in front of Kshin.
"Hang on, I have an idea!" Data exclaimed. "I'm gonna see if I can jam the walls. Gear Rollers!"
The Hagurumon summoned a pair of gears and tossed them at the seams where the moving walls met the floor of the cave. Hopefully they could jam the walls long enough for the group to find a way out.

Kshin whimpered as the walls began closing in and Mandrake said "Looks like we've stumbled upon the security system left by the ancient digimon who once lived here. Makes this journey more difficult that's for sure."
Fortunately Data's attack had slowed down the walls as they were moving much slower but the attack wasn't enough to completely stop the closing walls. Channeling power into his fist Lothar drew it back and said "Fist of the Beast King!" Lothar threw a mighty punch sending out his aura in the shape of a lion causing the wall to in front of them to explode outward. "Let's get going!" Lothar said having to duck down to climb out the hole not quite tall enough for him but one by one everyone was safe.
"I think we should be more careful from this point on. Who knows what other traps have been hidden?" Mandrake suggested.
"That was scary." Kshin said with a soft whimper still calming down from nearly being crushed.

After escaping from the trap, Hana and Data silently agreed not to tell anyone that Hana had been the one to accidentally set off the trap. That was a secret they would take to their graves.
"We'll definitely keep our eyes out." Data said. He was glad his quick thinking had helped to buy time for everyone escape. He was certainly glad he and Rush floated when they moved, as that meant they wouldn't set off any pressure plates, which certainly tempered his urge to digivolve to Guardromon. His champion form was slow and bulky, and thus more likely to set off more traps.
Since Kshin was still whimpering in his arms, Rush moved one hand and started to gently pet Kshin's head. The Dorimon enjoyed it when they last met, so maybe it would help calm his young friend down? "There, there, Kshin-Friend. Rush protect his friend." The Keramon softly said to the Dorimon, trying to calm his nerves.

Lothar had heard the panel move when Hana stepped on it but decided not to bring it up since no one was hurt and they would likely soon have more to worry about. Kshin, meanwhile, had begun to softly trill while Rush was petting him and seemed to melt into the Keramon's touch.
The group carefully continued on coming into a wide passage filled with stalactites and stalagmites. Shortly after entering the room it appeared as if no panel was needed to activate the next series of traps as entry alone triggered them. Loud creaking sounds were heard throughout the room causing Lothar to spring into action as he ran for a nearby stalagmite and ripped it out of the floor with raw brute strength as openings in the walls were present and spears came flying at the group.
Leaping in front of them, Lothar swung the stalagmite like a baseball bat shattering the spears while Mandrake yelled "We must get out of this passage. Hurry!" With Lothar taking the lead the group was soon clear of the room and only then did Lothar drop the stalagmite. Leaning against the wall Mandrake sat down figuring the group could now stop and catch their breath.

"Hm, I wonder if it would be a good idea if Rush and I were to digivolve to our champion forms? Guardromon and Chrysalimon would be be far sturdier, and would probably be better able to protect Hana and Kshin from traps. Although, my Guardromon form's bulk would make me more likely to set off future traps as well." Data pondered out loud after the group escaped from the spear traps. The Hagurumon wasn't sure what option would be the best to take in this situation. His brother's words caused Rush to come to his own decision on the matter, as the Keramon floated over to Hana.
"Digivolve please, Mama." Rush requested, gently handing the trilling Kshin to Hana.
"Okay, Rush. If that's what you want to do." Hana accepted. She kept a firm hold on Kshin with one hand as she pulled out her digivice with the other. "Execute Digivolution!"
"Keramon digivolve to... Chrysalimon!" Rush exclaimed as he was enveloped in light. When the light receded, Rush was now in the form of a floating purple chrysalis with six bladed tentacles coming out of his back. Now that he was digivolved, Rush took a position next to Hana and Kshin, ready to protect them with his hard shell at a moment's notice.
"Well, I guess that solves half of my problem." Data said with a chuckle.

While Data pondered digivolving, Hana took ahold of Kshin as Rush digivolved to his champion form. Mandrake looked down the tunnel ahead of them seeing a faint light before he said "With luck we may not have to worry about more traps. Look there's a light ahead." Lothar and Kshin looked in the direction Mandrake indicated and sure enough the Wizardmon known as Mandrake was right.
Mandrake rose to his feet and the group continued on soon exiting the tunnel and below them was the ruins of an ancient city. Though the stone buildings were not in perfect shape the sight below was still breathtakingly beautiful. Looking for a path down into the city, Mandrake soon spotted one and said "This way everyone and be careful not to fall before we get safely down."
Later, after the group carefully made their way down a narrow path, they stood in what was once probably the city's marketplace judging by the buildings that may have likely been shops a long time ago. Near them in the center of the marketplace was what appeared to be a well with ornately carved symbols in it.

"Whoa. This is literally the most amazing thing I've ever seen." Hana said, wide-eyed at the breathtaking sight below. "I kinda wish I'd brought a camera."
"You did bring jour journal and some pencils. Perhaps you can try to sketch some of the things you see here?" Data suggested. "It might not be the same as a photo, but it would be better than nothing."
"That's a great idea, Data! Oh, this is so exciting." Hana enthusiastically agreed as the group started walking down towards the ancient city. "We're literally about to enter a lost piece of history!"
As Hana was walking part of the narrow path crumbled away under her foot, causing her to lose her balance. Rush quickly wrapped his tentacles around Hana to keep her and Kshin from falling, and pulled the two of them safely back onto the path.
"Thanks, Rush. That... wouldn't have ended well." Hana nervously told the Chrysalimon. She briefly looked down below, and paled a bit. That would've definitely been a long fall if Rush hadn't caught them. Once the group made it down to the city below, Hana quickly set the Dorimon down on the ground as she feared her clumsiness might end up getting him hurt if she kept holding him.

Hana had a minor issue with clumsiness as she almost fell but Rush had caught her and Kshin before any harm was done. Safely in the center of the marketplace Kshin was now standing on the ground with the group after Hana put him down. "This place is awesome. Too bad Mom, Dad, and Grandpa didn't get to see this place." Kshin said as some tears trickled from his amber eyes as memories of his family's death brought them to the surface.
Mandrake, meanwhile, was getting a sneaking suspicion something was amiss as his body language had become stiff. Opening his mind he wasn't getting anything but the others but then a voice behind him got his attention. "Well what do we have here? It seems I have some competition to finding the treasure." a female voice said causing Mandrake, Lothar, and Kshin to whirl around coming face to face with an Ouryumon.
"It's her. She killed my parents." Kshin cried scrambling to hide behind Mandrake's leg.
"How did you sneak up on us undetected? I should of sensed you following us." Mandrake asked seeing various other dragon digimon of mostly the champion level swarming nearby with a handful of ultimates.
"Simple, little Wizardmon. While you were making your preparations for your journey you ended up hiring one of my associates to ferry you here." Ouryumon said with a chuckle as Orcamon came into view before she continued. "And since telepathy isn't uncommon among Wizardmon I had my men wear devices to render us undetectable by your mind and to avoid the Leomon with you we made sure to follow far enough behind so not only we could avoid the traps but avoid detection by his senses of smell and hearing. Now unless you want to endanger the Dorimon and human with you I suggest you surrender."
