"Oh?" Even in a situation like this, Vergil would be hard pressed to not spot Skadi's ears giving a little twitch as the Valaismon blushed a little in embarrassment from the young man's kind words. Enough for Kenny to give a quick chuckle as he patted his Digimon on the head - while not forgetting to give a small but thankful smile to the fellow twin tamer in the process.
Clearly, somebody hadn't been around her in a way less tense situation like this. Maybe that was for the best.
But that was mere cold comfort compared to the situation at large. And both Vergil and Maria threw out some good points themselves. Distracting them while freeing the hostages may have sounded good on paper, for one, but one mistake could result in all hell breaking loose. Especially since Blanc and Noir would be first to clue in over the Dark Knightmon's allies' eyebrow raising behaviour, or rather, the lack of it.
Still, they had to bite the bullet here. "I don't think there's any argument here." Kenny would chime in, "Skadi'll join the stealth team, while I'll stay here with the negotiators. I know this won't be easy, but I've dealt with this sort of crazy shit before. All I know is that something is terribly off here, and the sooner we're able to figure out just what the hell's going on here, the better. Sound good to you, Skadi?"
The Valaismon would give a confident smile and a nod... before pausing for a good moment, "But Kenny, you'd be defenceless before these guys if something goes wrong. Who's going to protect you while I'm away?"
"Yeah... I did figure that..." Was he going to sound stupid for asking? Well, yes, probably, but he needed to do what he could. Taking in a moment to breathe in and out, he turned over to the Impmon-X as he quietly bit his lip, "Caine, would you mind pretending to be my partner for a bit until this is all over?"

Vergil gave the Australian tamer a nod. It was a bit uncommon to meet a Digimon— especially one that belongs to another tamer— that has big brain ideas. He honestly kind of wishes Vee and Gummy were like that, so that way he wouldn’t have to do all of the thinking when it comes to formulating ideas and plans.
Back to the situation at hand, Sistermon Blanc noted that the DarkKnightmon’s allies were seemingly all too relaxed, as if they’re not expecting any resistance from any outside party at all, yet they know they’re being watched. What were they about to walk into? A trap, definitely, but something told the three that there was something going on behind their easy dispositions.
In addition to this, Scarab gave an interesting tidbit on DarkKnightmon: they are known not just by their strength, but for being extreme tacticians, carefully strategizing every possible outcome. This made Vee’s ear twitch in curiosity. “Subterfuge..? What does that mean?” He asked, tilting his head a bit sideways.
“It means using deception to achieve an end goal,” Vergil responded. “To put it simply, big-tall in black here probably already thought of us using stealth to get the people out of any harm’s way, even though he hasn’t met us yet, or how many of us there are. So if we do that, we’ll be playing right into his hands."
“Oh…” Vee muttered. From the look on Vergil’s face, he can tell that this situation is entirely different from the attack in Terminus a few months ago. Human lives are at stake, so they need to play it by the books in order to have the best outcome—for everyone.
With everyone concurring with Vergil’s idea, with half joining the stealth team and half joining the negotiators, that leaves him, Vee and Gummy. “I think I’ll join the negotiators side of things. Even though I snuck through the police barricaded to get here, those Digimon could probably sniff me out immediately.” He glanced at his Digimon. “What about you guys?”
“I’ll stick by you, Specs,” Gummy said. “Besides, someone’s gotta be there if you accidentally fumble on your words. What about you, bro?”
“Actuallly...I think I’ll join the stealth team,” Vee admitted, causing his Gumdramon brother to blink in surprise. “If we truly want things 50-50, this is the best way so the others won’t be short.” He glanced up to his Tamer. “Is that ok with you, Vergil?”
Vergil was a bit taken aback by this, taking a moment to properly respond. “Uhh, yeah. Of course. If that’s what you want, go for it.” He turned to Histato. “I guess I’ll be taking one of those cards off your hands, my man. Promise I won’t bend it and give it any creases or anything. Boy’s Scout’s honor~”

So it's seem that quite a lot of them already deciding to take the stealth approach. Very well. She hopes that this is just a paranoia and not actually something... that might spring back on them... hopefully. She will not speak of that outloud though, as they're pressed in time already.
"Alright, you, please give the stealth team the map of this place then."
"Yes, ma'am! Here, we hope that it will help you." a DATS trooper handed a map of the place. Maria then pointed their route. "First we'll enter through the main building, through the stairs. For the stealth team, go to this service pathway. From the camera they did not enter that path at all, so you should be safe. Anyway... Blanc, Noir, with me. Team B, please secure the perimeters. Do not let anyone enter, is that clear?"
"Ma'am, yes, Ma'am!"
"I'll be pressing the intercom now... Please go with your respective roles. We're counting on you."
Maria then pressed the intercom button.
"...This is Agent Maria of DATS. We'd like to do a negotiation for the safety of the hostages."
The Dark Knightmon for a rare momen slowly stirred from his posture. He craned his head and looked at the camera straight. There was a few seconds of pause before a deep, slightly distorted voice answered back.
"I only have two demand," the Dark Knight started, raising two fingers "A fight, with you. And that DATS will admit of their past sins: immoral brainwashing actions toward Digimons and its sins of creating chaos in Digital World. DATS have extended their tendrils far beyond real world... and in the process painted Digimon as a black sheep even though they have caused so many griefs in our world."
"But that was thing of the past!" Maria retorted.
"Past or not, I care not. The government should have realized from various reports of DATS activity that DATS is a taboo name... yet you revived our greatest nightmare. In case the government have no idea, are you telling that you let such organization ran astray without your watch? Ignorance is a sin, and in this case, a sin run far deeper than the Macro Oceans. Rebranding, repainting, nothing would have worked. If anything it will only fuel our desire for revenge. We're here to remind you that Digital World still remember. It remembers very strongly."
Maria clicked her tongue.
"I will say nothing more to cravens hiding behind safety of distance. Come down here, unless talk is just all you could do while your people is in danger."
"Craven-- you're the one who's taking hostages!" Maria retorted, but was thankfully calm enough to not spew that in the intercom. She know that they have been pushed... and now they have to get ready for any potential battles.
"I'm sorry that you have to see that unsightly behavior of mine. But either way, we're pressed for time. Those in negotation team, let's go. Perhaps he'll be more... willing to listen to you. ...Speaking of which, any way for the two teams to communicate with each other?"

It seemed to be unanimously agreed that splitting up into two teams, a stealth team and a negotiation team, was the best course of action for this moment. "Alright, let's... hope this doesn't blow up in our faces," Adrian said with a sigh, meant as a light jest just to calm himself down more than anything. So it would be Adrian, Shoutmon, Skadi and Vee on the stealth team and Hisato, Hisato's crew, Kenny, Alan, Levi, Vergil and Gummy on negotiations. Solid enough plan, at least.
Maria would then point out a route for the group to go in, using a map of the station. Of course the stealth team's path would diverge slightly, with them taking the service pathway instead of the stairs. Made sense. The groups were about to head out after Maria told DarkKnightmon that they'd like to do a negotiation... and that's when DarkKnightmon made his demands.
Firstly, he wanted a fight with DATS, first and foremost. He also wanted DATS to admit to their past sins, such as brainwashing Digimon and creating chaos in the Digital World. Adrian and Shoutmon were stunned; they knew DATS wasn't the best when they were still around, but did they actually do horrible shit like that? "DATS brainwashed Digimon...? DarkKnightmon can't be serious, can he?"
Maria tried arguing that those were sins of the past and that the current DATS isn't affiliated with those who did those actions, but DarkKnightmon argued that it didn't matter, that DATS was a taboo name and that no amount of rebranding can ever fix that. After that ordeal was done... well, Adrian and Shoutmon still weren't sure what to think. They were at least still committed to saving the hostages since what DarkKnightmon was doing was clearly wrong, but still... they didn't feel good about supporting DATS at this moment.
"We're ready when everyone else is," Adrian said, looking at Skadi and Vee.

Hisato would quite deftly present the Shadowform card towards Vergil, with a nod. "Scout's Honor." He repeated, with the smirk of someone who knew when he could trust the words of one of his friends. "We've got this." In the meantime, the Impmon glanced to Kenny and Skadi, before he nodded.
"Sure." Caine spoke. He figured he would be able to present such a deception fairly easily, though whether or not DarkKnightmon bought it was another story entirely. Leaving so much to chance was not something he was fine with. Certainty was what spoke to him. Not...this.
Otherwise, the teams were set, card handed out and everything...Now it was time to give DarkKnightmon an ea-...Wow, Hisato had not been aware of the history of DATS, but...he gave Maria a look. "...I'm not going to pass any blame onto you as an individual, but the past can weigh heavy on some people. We should get moving, yeah."
Gyo meanwhile seemed...moderately disturbed by something. Regardless of whatever it was, he opted to keep his mouth shut. Scarab on the other hand? "I had heard...rumors of it. Years ago. I didn't want to find out if that was true or not--I know humans have a tendency to dislike when someone tries to verify their dirty work, if it was even done. ...Suppose we're in for a tale, regardless. We move ahead with the plan on your marks, Chosen."

It was basically a bit of a... admittedly odd failsafe to fall back upon just in case things did go to hell in a mere handbasket, but Caine accepting his offer to 'be' his partner Digimon for the time being allowed Kenny to internally breath a sigh, as he gave a small, grateful smile to the Impmon-X, "Thank you."
Truth be told, it would be much harder for him to pass off as a Spirit User, as the fact he couldn't shapeshift whenever he felt like it would raise a few red flags for DarkKnightmon and co. At the very least, with Skadi momentarily out of the picture, he could at least have a good form of defence when the (seemingly) inevitable occurred.
Speaking of Skadi, the Valaismon would listen intently on what to do; follow the set path to help rescue the hostages and get them to safety. Looking at Kenny, the two would silently give a nod for one another, before a brief flash of light would emerge, not just from Kenny's D-Nexus, but Skadi's whole body. Soon, the shining metallic form of SilverGrademon would take her place, standing tall and confident.
Geisterseele laid proudly upon her neck for all to see.
As Maria spoke to the DarkKnightmon, neither dared to speak up to the mighty Digimon, nor his demands, yet a slight stir of concern started to show on Kenny's face; past sins? Chaos in the Digital World? Brainwashing? Was this was the Archnemon that day openly chewing out Tiger for? Was the DarkKnightmon himself one of the many victims of the old tyrannical DATS? His glance quickly drifted onto Gyo, and then to Scarab. While he opted not to pry into their past right then and there, for their own sake, the young man would rub his forehead quietly.
"Jesus Christ, this is not going to be easy." He quietly mouthed to himself.
Regardless, it was time to get going. A brave look would barely be enough to mask his nerves for the time being, "I do have the Comm feature on my D-Nexus, so I can at least talk to Skadi. If any of you guys have that, I'd suggest to use that too. Just say the word, ma'am, and we'll follow along."
Skadi on the other hand would look at the stealth team, "I'll follow you guys from behind. Just give me the signal, and I'll switch on the Digi-Port to Ys." With that, she'd simply tap the gem on her necklace, and in the blink of an eye, she'd disappear from sight from the rest of the group, with little fanfare.
Rest assured she'd still stay close to them.
Skadi uses the weak artefact Geisterseele to turn herself invisible for the time being.
Geisterseele (Weak Artifact): A small gold necklace with a glowing red gem, adorned around a Digimon's neck. It allows the wearer to turn invisible outside of combat, great for hiding or camouflage. It can be used for as long as the user wants, but only outside of combat. It's not strong enough to be used inside of combat. If hit by an attack or if the user uses an attack themselves, the effect automatically wears off.

Vergil would smirk back at Hisato as well, taking the card off his hands and loading it into his deck. “Damn right we do,” he replied. He raised his fist, offering Hisato a fist bump if he wanted to. Besides with his team at AEGIS, it was nice to have allies to rely on, especially those he considers his homies. It filled him with the sense that they could get out of this in one piece if they played their cards right, both figuratively and literally. The trio listened carefully as Agent Maria laid out the plan: the negotiation team will go through the main building through the stairs, and the stealth team would enter through the service tunnel. Hopefully there were no Digimon stationed there, otherwise it would present another wall to the hostages. Before they split off into their respective teams, Maria addressed Dark Knightmon via intercom, requesting a parley. The black knight responded, demanding a fight. Vergil and crew remained silent as he spoke, though hearing the horrid things DATS had done, from getting too deep in the affairs of the Digital World, controlling their every move through immoral indoctrination made Vergil cast a frown. Regardless of what he was feeling, he opted to keep quiet for the time being. Though he had to agree on one point: no matter how hard you try to bury your past, it’ll always come back to bite you in the ass. As the intercom cut off, Gummy crossed his arms with a raised eyebrow. “Well, if there’s one thing I can give black ‘n shiny, he’s a mon got guts with zero honor.” He said. But in any case, it was time to get moving. Vergil slid the Shadowform card across his D-Watch, which emitted a faint glow in response. Vee would become surrounded by a purple aura. “Just be sure not to fall behind," Vee jested to Skadi, giving her a thumbs up before disappearing from sight. Vergil sighed. “This is going to be a long night…” Action Log: Borrowing one of Hisato's cards for the time being, Vergil actives Shadowform on Vee.
Card Name: Shadowform
Type: Modify
Rank: Silver
Duration: 1 Post
Effect: The target Digimon turns invisible for three posts, only casting a shadow when exposed to direct light. This effect ends when the duration expires, uses a named ability, or the target Digimon is damaged.

Alan had remained silent for most of the interactions for the past few minutes, not feeling like there was anything constructive he could have added. He was snapped out of his half-vacant staring by the attempt to communicate with the DarkKnightmon over his terms. The knight digimon's accusations did not bring the two of them quite the same shock as it did some of the others in the group. Matadormon, the last digimon they had seen try to mess with digimon-human relations, had boasted very similar motivations before being quite rudely interrupted.
"'Craven,' but-" The boy was cut off by Maria repeating his exact thoughts to herself. He sighed and leaned against the closest solid thing he could find, arms folded.
"Y'know, if it weren't for the fact that the enemy has hostages, I would wonder if we were helping the wrong side," observed Levi, the Veemon motioning to mimic his tamer, as was his habit, whether he did it consciously or not.
"I'd wager that, while the DATS DarkKnightmon talks about isn't the one we're helping, that doesn't mean the old one has nothing to do with this current one. Either way, we're not here for a dang government agency. We're here for the hostages."
"Don't have to tell me twice. Let's do this."

I'm sorry it's come to this, but we're going to have to abandon this plot. Thank you all for doing your best.
Since Group B lasted roughly 7 rounds, everyone in this thread gets 7,000 bits as compensation.
