"Yeah, that's right. My younger daughters that still live here are Renamon, and the older ones are a BlackGatomon and a Mei-Digimon."
Aside from that, Mikemon would leave Skald to his own devices, and would largely be focusing on his paperwork. As Skald made his way to the kitchen, Mikemon didn't notice at first, his ear flicking as thefox spoke up.
"Honestly, dealing with the fallout of the Wisemon incident. Ensuring that the 'main' part of the spellcaster's data was well monitored, organizing a memorial service for K... heck, even organizing the rest of the move up to this mountain cabin." The cat gave a 'tsk' at the last point. He loved the place, yes, but he bought it for K - and she never even had the chance to see it.
That wasn't the only revelation that Skald was going to get at the moment. The very next question, directed at the Stingmon, earned a nod from the formal insect. "Naturally. Your father knew that you wouldn't have any patience for his help, so he sent me in his stead, to keep an eye on you as you worked - and to keep the more violent detractors and ne'er-do-wells from causing trouble. Otherwise, you would have just seen me as an occasional patron at your bar."
"... I'd apologize, but it was warranted." The doctor sighed. "It must be a bit easier to see in retrospect, but the way you were going about things wasn't going to grant you a platform. Fighting the system is hard enough without your own 'side' nipping at your heels."
He shook his head. Right. Enough of that.
"The others will be back soon. I know you're still shaken up, but I know at least Silence wants to say hi when she gets here."

”Quite an assortment… What do you mean be Mei-digimon? Like meicrackmons?”
He wasn’t really concerned regarding the cats; a few of his more consistent customers were the meicoos. Though… now he didn’t really have any and that was beside the point. He’d flick his ears a bit as the other spoke about the wisemon incident. He had heard about it; but given that he had been born after the fact…
Information strangleholds were common and that was one thing that even during his strongest point he couldn’t even get a single whiff of that incident properly. Even herald with her vast connections and individuals that owed her a lot… wouldn’t touch that mon for some reason or another. He’d bite the inside of his cheek and sigh.
”Finding information regarding him is damn near impossible for some reason. So I assume that he was quite a threat to… well earn the attention of one such as she as well as being under lock and key.”
He didn’t know what to call K; he didn’t feel like calling her mother was appropriate. Just like how he felt like calling Mikemon father was… strange. He’d turn his attention back to stingmon; awkwardly rubbing at his neck as the other spoke. That made sense that he… well had never shown up before and decide to just pop into skald’s bars out of all of them.
”Yeah. Gertrude said that she served someone like you a few times, I think I gave you a drink once or twice. Thanks I guess.”
Hearing what mikemon had to say about it the renamon-x waved his father off in regards to that all. He… he didn’t blame mikemon for what he did nor was he going to try to be angry at something like that.
”I was used to the pressure so when a lot of it up and vanished I thought maybe I had caught a break. Thanks I suppose. The fangs of the underbelly are usually bared even at their own so...”
Skald shook his head along with his father and upon hearing that silence would like to say hello? Well. He’d nervously rub his neck. He wasn’t sure what to think of these people that wanted to see him…
”I’m not sure-”
He was about halfway into his statement when the front door practically flew open and quite possibly the tallest wolfen digimon he had seen in a long time stepped into the hallway. She was busy shaking off the snow from her feet but upon seeing skald; mikemon and stingmon there she’d freeze. Her icy blue eyes flicked from one to the next… and then her face split into a huge grin. Skald looked a bit alarmed if not a bit surprised as the wolf approached rather quickly, even going so far as to pick him up in a bonecrushing bear hug.
”And you must be the lost kid! Skald right?”
”Y-y-yes! I-f you could pl-please put me down that’d be- APPRECIATED.”
He’d grunt a bit as the shutmon gave him a squeeze before setting him down, a grin on her face as she looked the renamon over. Eventually settling on putting an arm around him where the renamon would slightly shy away from her even though he was so damn close to her.
”I’ve only heard little snippets but from what I’ve been able to piece from it you’re quite the survivor! Got a knack for stickin your nose in places and finding good stuff. We should talk! Hang out. Cook or something. Yah hungry?”
Skald looked a bit baffled and glanced at mikemon; looking all out of sorts and not certain in the slightest what to do here. He was expecting someone a bit more mellow than this...
"I... suppose. I could go for a bite to eat."

"It more means her rookie form is a Meicoomon. And honestly she's the friendliest bugger you'll ever meet."
Chuckling a bit at that, the conversation would move rather smoothly. The feline's ear flicked as Skald explained the lockdown of information around the Wisemon, to which the doctor gave a sigh. "Threats of that level... its impossible to keep everything under lock-and-key, but its best that no-one knows how to replicate what he attempted. Wisemon was part of it, but there was a lot of moving pieces, and..."
The doctor paused, looking away. Stingmon picked up that line of thought. "We lost a lot to win the fight." More than just K - a lot more than just K. Mikemon gave a nod, thankful for the moment to recompose himself.
The conversation would take a quick change in tone as Silence entered, though! Whereas Mikemon was more mellow, as soon as the Shutmon stepped in, the room brightened right up, perhaps to the fox's detriment! He was scooped right up and immediately made clear of how happy the wolf was to see him. Stifling a chuckle, the doctor couldn't help but give a full-on laugh, as Skald was set back down!
"Sheesh, hun, you don't hold back, do you?"
"Sounds like something fun's happening in here!" Behind the Shutmon, Syre - who had just been out with the wolf to run a few errands after their latest patrol - stepped in, with a bag over her shoulder. Her smile dimmed as she saw the strange cloaked Renamon, a fair bit taller than Coal. "Um... hm. Dad?"
"Right, um. Skald, this is Syre. If I'm going by the amount of data you two have similar, he'd be your... half-brother?"
"And we haven't met before?" Out-of-the-loop, Syre was a bit confused, but the tone was more curious than defensive. Well, mom did have a lot of data - maybe it was enough to spread to more than one Digimon?
"Well, until recently, he was on his own. Really, we're just helping him through a rough patch." And the doctor left it at that, not wanting to spell out Skald's life story to a completely new party! "What brings you down here, anyway?"
"Quick C-Rank in the mountains, went along with Silence, thought I'd drop off some stuff. Planned to bounce in-and-out, but," Syre chuckled, "Somehow, I think I'm getting dragged out to the bar with Silence." The feline rolled her eyes, letting her tail give a flick to show the ring that Cion had given her. "Congratulations, you two, by the way."

”Most of the ones I’ve met are usually quiet and reserved. Well except from the one from the coliseum that stopped in for drinks occasionally.”
Skald rubbed at his neck; hearing that one of his siblings were one of these cats and also extremely friendly to the point of being told that she was ‘the friendliest’. Made him wonder if she was really even a meicoomon at all. Most of them kept to themselves! He’d sigh a bit and fold his arms; wasn’t wisemon technically his father? He did have a right to know about things regarding them but…
”I understand completely; when I was told that I’d be on some kind of list if I wanted to see anymore than the bare basics I… I felt like I was getting out of my depth.”
Hearing that they lost a lot to that fight made skald’s silence spell last a little bit longer; but silence herself… well. Overwhelmed him quite a bit; he was purely shocked and it was easy to see. The wolf’s smile was so genuine he seemed startled.
”Not to family! It’s good to meet him. Even if it’s been most of his life.”
She’d playfully rub at the top of skald’s head; fussing his ears either way and the renamon-x gave a little huff. Then came syre; skald found himself freezing and he’d stare at the blackgatomon. While coal was definitely far more gentle looking and didn’t seem to be… so overwhelming in terms of stature? Well. Skald put a lot of renamon’s to shame in terms of build and size.
”I… Yes. My name is skald. I would be your half brother. Mother’s side.”
Skald hesitated a bit and reached out to offer his hand; probably was for the best to try to get along with this mon; given she was a sister? But to him it was like meeting an absolute stranger that he was 100% connected to. His eyes roamed and locked in on her own. There was no doubt; he had a bit of her intense eyes. But there was that strange depth of gentleness that she had too.
He’d turn his attention back to mikemon when the other asked about what brought her here. Silence grinned a bit and if syre didn’t resist she’d get the same treatment as skald; a gentle ruffling of her fur between her ears.
”Out to the bar? Maybe. But I think you want to relish this a little bit more no? Drinkin might make it hard to do that. Besides. I wasn’t expecting your brother to arrive here so soon so… maybe the two of you can hang out eh? And thanks!”
The shutmon let out a small rumbling laugh, nudging syre a bit.
”You should have seen the look on your father’s face. Never seen him so red!”
In all the hub bub it was probably a bit hard to see that skald had taken the few moments to excuse himself into the kitchen. Where he was no wleaning up against the counter; a drink in hand and a somewhat distant expression on his face. He still felt like he hadn’t earned this and with a soft shuddering sigh…
”...Do I really deserve this after all I’ve done…?”

It didn't take a lot for the mood to brighten when Silence was in the room, even if it did put Skald on the back foot! Despite the awkward tone, Syre would return a nod, and give the Renamon's hand a firm shake.
"Mine is Syre. Nice to meet you."
Despite the familial ties, this greeting did feel generic, but what else could be expected? Syre and Skald didn't really know each-other, and learning that they were half-siblings made more questions than answers. But, in that brief moment the two locked eyes, they could see it.
K's own, strong gaze, resting in the opposite one's expression.
The conversation moved swiftly on, Syre giving a chuckle as Silence spoke up. "Really? The one time I actually want to go to the bar and drink my fill, you want me to step back?" Syre gave a playful sigh. "What do you think, dad?"
"Well..." Looking over his shoulder, to the spot where Skald was just standing, the doctor gave a shrug. "Skald's not the type to come out of his shell that quickly. Its honestly probably better that we give him some space for now." But, it wasn't just Skald that vanished from the foyer. Back in the kitchen, as Skald fashioned himself a drink, a second figure quietly slipped into the room himself - and just as Skald gave that depressing question, he'd hear the fridge open, Stingmon grabbing a soda from the back.
"Trust me, if karma was real, the doctor wouldn't be anywhere close to where he is now." The champion-level insect turned, giving a nod towards the fox. "If you don't feel you've earned it, kid, don't turn away. Instead, do what you need to do to feel like you've earned it. There's a lot someone like you can do in Snowflake."
"Keep moving." Stingmon stood up, and made his way back towards the hall. "Don't give yourself time to regret."

”Good to meet you too.”
Skald didn’t really know what to say other than that; he didn’t know her. Even they were related by mother alone. He’d watch her for a few moments and was grateful when the attention shifted from him. Silence gladly was willing to take the reigns and grinned at syre.
”Oh can you really blame me? I want to hear more about it but at the same time...”
Silence turned to see that skald had left; her face dropping just for a moment and then rubbed at her neck. Hearing that he needed space? Well silence nodded her head and put her hands on her hips.
”Then me and you can go off drinkin, let him get his senses straight. Can’t really argue with that.”
Hearing all of this was enough to make silence wonder to herself if that maybe approaching him so strongly was a good idea but with a small shrug she’d turn to syre.
”Well then shall we? We can always chat when we get back...”
Silence grinned down to syre; figuring that if she still wanted to well… skald, mikemon and stingmon would all still be here when they got back!
Skald sighed a bit and rubbed at his snout with both hands; squeezing his eyes shut and exhaling to try to center himself. Maybe the shutmon had rattled him a little bit. He’d turn his head when he heard the fridge open to see the insect…
”I don’t even know what I could do here. Or why I’m even really here. He says… those sorts of things like he means it and I’m not sure what to think.”
Skald squeezed his arm and found himself holding his breath for a few moments. Breathing out with a ragged sigh; keep moving? Don’t give himself time to regret? He’d snort quietly and shook his head.
”You say that like you and mikemon both have done that sort of thing before…”

Today, it didn't take much convincing for Syre to go with Silence to have a ladies' night out! The feline would return the grin, and the two would soon be making their way to town, which left Mikemon with his paperwork, and Stingmon alone with Skald.
"The only reason you don't know is because you haven't looked yet." As always, Stingmon's advice was deadpan, completely calm, regardless of Skald's emotional state. Heck, the comment itself was paired with the Stingmon uncapping his drink, the slow hiss of the drink carrying through his words. "And the doctor's less complicated than you think. If he's sounds serious about something, he's serious about it."
Perhaps Skald simply wasn't used to such straightforwardness. Even now, he was trying to work at why Stingmon and Skald were asking this way, assuming that the doctor and the insect had gone through 'this sort of thing' before. "Perhaps. But Mikemon's not the best example of that life lesson. No, its something that your mother would have told you. Heck, she wouldn't even have the patience to sit still about this sort of thing."
With that, the Stingmon would turn to leave the kitchen, looking back to say just one more thing: "Ah, doctor. I'll have your schedule done by the end of the day."
"... Alright, lazy bug." With a sigh, the doctor would shake his head, before returning a nod to Skald. "I know today's been a lot, Skald. Just try and take it easy... and get me a list of things you need for living out here. I should be able to get you set up with a tailor soon enough."

With the two out of the house maybe skald could relax a little bit more. He’d close his eyes and exhale softly; glad that he could at least collect his thoughts. He’d flick his ears; wondering if the bug was right. He didn’t have anywhere else to go so maybe he should just… try what they were selling here. He’d lean back against the counter, drinking out of the coffee he had made.
”I was getting so used to what I did I couldn’t really consider other paths. To have this suddenly taken is still just. Unreal.”
Skald wasn’t pushing the helping hand away but he seemed very uncertain about it. The renamon’s ears flicked a few times and hearing that the doctor was less complicated than he thought? Well the renamon furrowed his brows a little more. But then he said something that caught skald’s interest. Referring to his mother; a mon he had never met and had nothing but utmost respect for knowing who she was now.
”She would have done that… said that even?”
His voice was hushed and he’d look down at the ground as the bug left the kitchen; she wouldn’t have the patience to sit still. She would have helped without a second thought probably. He felt his expression harden a bit and he’d grit his teeth. Stepping out after the bug; sipping at the coffee with a now thoughtful expression on his face.
Hearing that he needed to get a list together the renamon-x snorted quietly. Flicking his free hand and producing a small sheet of paper out of his body. On it was some key usual essentials; his own shampoo; some sheets that were known to make it so one did slip around a lot. Commonplace for machine type digimon.
”That’s all I can really think of right now… I don’t really have a gameplan for out here Mikemon. I’m… still at a loss as to what I should be doing. Herald at least had her newspaper so she can focus on that but...”
Skald took a seat in one of the chairs; leaning back in it and staring at the fireplace.
”For once in my life I don’t have a plan.”

Skald was left with a lot to think about.
As the doctor took that list in hand, the feline would give it a quick look over, before folding it and sticking it under his glove. "Well, honestly, the newspaper is not a bad idea. You can look at openings in Snowflake and see if anything sounds good... honestly, you should probably get a look at the city up here sooner rather than later."
Aside from that? "Its okay to not have a plan for now. Don't rush things too much." The feline would give a smile - and for the rest of the night, Skald would be left to himself. The following morning was when Skald would finally have a good idea of just how active this winter house could be - with seven people going in-and-out and sleeping under one roof, it was rare that anyone in the cabin could sleep in...
... Much to Syre's dismay, really. Lying on her back in the living area, Syre gave a groan, waving away Mikemon as the doctor rested his hand against Syre's head. "Ugh, go away... its too bright in here..."
"Uhuh. Definitely overdid it last night, kitty." Mikemon rolled his eyes, carefully resting a warm, damp towel over the feline's forehead. "And yet Silence still got up a full hour earlier than you... heh."
"So, she's fine?" A few feet away, the yellow Renamon-X, Amber, looked up from her sketchbook, as the doctor gave a nod. "Of course. But let your older sister here be an example of the pain of over-indulgence - "
"Oh, shush, already..."

”I should probably grab one tomorrow. Maybe see what there is then.”
Skald exhaled a bit and folded his arms; he’d likely want to get his tailor stuff handled first. He didn’t need to dress well like he wanted to since he wasn’t really running anything anymore. So maybe just some long sleeved shirts that would do it for now. Maybe he’d dress up if whatever job he got required it.
”I’ll probably take the week to poke around here or there. But… I don’t think I’m the type that can just sit around on my hands so to speak. But… yeah.”
Another sigh and shake of his head, rubbing at his muzzle; it’d be a few hours yet before he could manage to sleep. It wasn’t a surprise but the coffee really didn’t do anything for him; maybe it was just meant to calm his nerves or something.
The following morning wasn’t really a surprise to him; he knew how it could be with busy living areas. Given he basically ran an apartment housing unit for extra money here or there. He was up when silence was already getting ready for some patrol; he didn’t say a word as he saw her leave. Just deciding to lay back down and tend to his own thoughts.
But as the day moved on the renamon-x found himself stepping outside of his door. Cloak easily slipping around his shoulders to hide the story that was his back or front. The renamon-x paused a bit and considered for a moment at asking mikemon for a routine check up. He hadn’t been able to get one in a year or so it felt.
”Hung over?”
Skald’s question was easily answered by the scene in front of him; he had dealt with plenty of that sort of thing before. Staring quietly at the two before moving his attention to the yellow renamon-x. Must be one of those younger siblings mikemon was talking about. With a small huff the renamon moved to the kitchen; he knew a few mixtures that would help with it. Busying himself with making a drink for syre. She’d probably hate the taste but she’d be grateful as it would probably ease the headache.
”You probably didn’t drink enough water to chase it down. Drink this.”
Skald would set the drink on the table and flick his ears; it wasn’t hard to smell how strong whatever he made was. But if the barkeep knew one thing… it was to tend to people after a long night of drinking.
”I’m not surprised that Silence is okay. She’s walking around as a shutmon. Probably burns through the alcohol a lot faster than a champion or rookie does."

'Hung over?'
Really, what kind of question was that? All Syre could do was give a slight glare from the side of her head, as Amber looked over towards Skald in vague confusion. Another Renamon-X, and a black one at that... but that wasn't Coal! No odd eye, no goggles, too tall, and who wore a cloak inside? Before Amber could ask any questions, Skald was off to the kitchen, and soon came back with a glass, and a dubious-smelling drink.
The BlackGatomon sat up, took the drink, gave Skald a nod, and downed it. Only for Syre to clack the glass back down against the table, grasp at her chest, and give a harsh cough! "Ugh, that's sour! Sheesh..." The feline shook her head, finding it better to sit up and lean back against the couch cushion.
"Well, that's part of it, but even as a Renamon, Silence could drink most of us under the table - "
"Um...excuse me." Amber spoke up, the confused yellow fox quickly drawing the attention of the room. "But is no-one else weirded out by the, um, new person here?"
"... Right, right." Mikemon gave a sigh. "This is Skald, he's your brother. We didn't talk much before this - he had his own place in Terminus - but he's running through a few things, and is going to be staying with us for a while."
"And you didn't tell me about this until now?" Amber was still confused! "I mean, with this Orion stuff, should we really be bringing in more people?"
"Amber, Skald's family. We can trust him."
"R...right..."

Skald could really only spare a glance to amber; though his expression was even curiosity played through his eyes. Was this another one of those renamon he was talking about? If so, where was the other one? He figured they had multiple but he didn’t know how many exactly. The renamon watched syre for a moment as she downed that drink; snorting softly at her reaction to the taste.
”Well be glad I didn’t have some of the stronger stuff”
Hearing that silence could drink most of them under the table even as a renamon actually brought a look of surprise to skald’s face but with amber drawing their attention with that somewhat meek interruption skald found his icy eyes flicking to his ‘little sister’. He’d rub at the back of his neck; yeah no that was a reasonable question.
”New person. Right. Yeah like mikemon said I’m your brother.”
What was there really to add? But hearing that orion question… Skald’s eyebrows furrowed and he’d cast a glance at mikemon. As if to ask what she meant by that.
”Orion…?”
The concern and confusion on his face was legitimate and hearing that stuttery response from amber made him sigh softly. This was going to be fun wasn’t it? Dancing around on eggshells maybe? He’d fold his arms thoughtfully and sighed.
”Spose you guys have your own problems too. Mind filling me in a little bit or is this one of those things you have a lid on so to speak?”
Skald wasn’t going to push too hard, he had his own problems to sort through and helping out on this wasn’t probably going to do much. What information could he really gleam from anywhere without his proper connections? Herald might given where she was at but… He’d rub at his neck again.
”...Oh right. Is the laundry done or… should I keep sporting the cloak?”

'Orion...?'
Oh, shoot. Amber's ear twitched as Skald made that remark, and Amber found herself sitting back in that chair, breaking eye-contact with Skald. It was just then that Mikemon caught on to just what had happened, the doctor taking a moment to clear his own throat. "Good girl, Amber. Er, sorry, that is one of the things we do have a lid on, quite confidential."
The doctor gave a sigh, shaking his head. "We trust you, but there's some big, dark money in that mess." Mikemon was serious, and it was probably best that Skald wouldn't pick at that scab any further. Hearing the next question, the doctor gave a nod, and motioned for Skald to follow - around a corner, right to the hamper.
He pulled the dry clothes off of the laundry basket, and handed them over to Skald to do as he needed. The doctor would turn, resting his back against the wall, arms crossed.
"... We can get those scars looked at, you know."
The feline spoke up. "... Though there's honestly not much we can do, cosmetically, about the big one."

Seeing the reaction that amber had made skald question just what on earth he had asked about and following suit the doctor expertly handled explaining it in such a manner to dissuade skald from inquiring further. He’d wave his hand dismissively; understanding at the drop of a hat it wasn’t something he should get involved in until such a time where they would want him.
”It’s fine. If you don’t need to or want to explain it, I won’t push further.”
Skald was the sort that wouldn’t get into things unless asked. He was good at not judging someone and was even better at letting people have their secrets. It was part of the bartending gig that he did after all! The renamon-x flicked his ears and followed the doctor; looking mildly surprised that his clothing were already handled. Without much question he’d take the cloak off and start to put the other stuff on only to pause at what mikemon said.
”...I haven’t had them looked at since getting them really. Might be a good idea.”
There was a momentary pause and he’d run a finger along the big one for a few seconds; sighing softly and turning his head. It was deep and still sort of healing in a way. While it wasn’t bad per say it was obvious that magic was the reason the renamon-x was held together. Some impressive regeneration and probably intense healing abilities to keep him from falling apart whenever it happened.
”It’s part of the reason I wear the shirts. Lot of customers used to stare and it made things awkward. I don’t anticipate it being able to get covered up.”
He’d adjust a little bit; smoothing out the shirt as he put it on and clipping the vest over it with a small snort. Even the little tie that he had would be slipped in where it normally sat. He expertly tied it without much of a fuss too…
”When do you think we could handle that?”

"Mm."
To the initial comment that Skald returned about the scars, Mikemon simply gave a nod, allowing the fox to once more cover up those wounds. He could hear the tired tone in Skald's voice, most likely tired of having to cover up those scars at all. As Skald would step back into the hall, tying his tie, the doctor would turn to face him proper. "Sorry that its not pressed. Seriously, between six sets of gloves and the occasional undershirt from Silence, we've never had to worry about getting an iron or anything."
At the very least, the clothes were clean, and hadn't shrunk in the wash! As for the last question, the doctor couldn't help but give a chuckle. "I'd like to say 'right now', but it'll probably be later this afternoon. I'd like to have Holly assist me, so she can get some practical experience - um, the 'Mei'. She's currently running through medical classes."
Offering that brief explanation, Mikemon would tilt his head for Skald to follow, back to the living area. There, things had picked up a bit: Syre was now sitting up, halfway through her coffee, looking much better than she did a moment ago, and Amber looked towards her older sister. "You sure?"
"Yeah, I mean, I'm mostly good now. And its not like anyone else here can actually cook..." The feline gave a chuckle. "And if I know Silence, she's not going to be able to wake up unless she's hearing the crackle of bacon against the pan." That last part was a bit of a tease, Syre moving to stand up, stretching out her back as she made her way to the kitchen. Left alone, she'd just give Skald a small wave as she walked by, Mikemon returning a chuckle.
"What about you, Amber? Any plans?"
"Sheesh... Coal's out on her job... I think I'm training with Holly in a little bit - and I think mom's probably going to sneak out to watch again..."
