"... Heh. You're so far along that sometimes I forget you're a bit green behind the ears at this sort of stuff, Holly."
With a smile, he'd give a nod, and let Holly examine and take notes on the smaller wounds, as the doctor himself started to put together some vials and equipment together on a cart, presumably to help with the minor surgical work, once they would get started. The feline's ear gave a flick at Skald's comment. Well, perhaps it was awkward for the general passers-by, but to those who knew Skald, perhaps the 'why' would be quite apparent to them already.
After ten or fifteen minutes, as Holly gave her comment on the larger scar, Mikemon would pick up the notes and look through the remarks the Meicoomon made on the smaller scars. "Mmm... the big one?" The doctor looked over towards Skald, briefly scanned that larger wound, and moved to a fresh page, to sketch what he saw.
He started by making about a twelve-by-twelve grid out of straight lines: "This is simplifying it, but let's say that this is Skald's wireframe. And..." The feline took an eraser, and erased a circle in the middle of the grid, "This is the wound. Realistically it would be more elliptical in shape, but its wide enough that the points can't reattach easily - meaning it shouldn't have scarred at all. As for what happened..."
Mikemon turned the paper 45 degrees, and drew a new grid, askew to the original one, connecting the points to the 'unwounded' grid on diagonals. "An emergency patch, with not-fully-compatible data. That is, the species of Digimon that the patch is made from is so different from Skald's, that it couldn't properly bind - and thus, instead of converting back to his own data structure, it simply 'adapted' and became part of the wireframe as a whole."
Carefully, the doctor would come closer, and show Holly the dark-red skin underneath - compared to the more 'normal' Renamon skin underneath Skald's fur, away from the wound.
"There's no realistic means to 'fix' the abnormality given its size - and, at this point, its age. In fact, you should think of it less of a 'scar' and more of a 'data graft' - like a fake arm, a robotic eye, or something like that. Medically, its about the same." That aside?
"Smaller scars can be cleared with proper healing. The 'curved and larger ones' may take some incisions to properly line everything back up - based on what I'm seeing, Skald hasn't been able to go to Terminus medical or anything afterwards, so a lot of this did heal wrong. So Skald."
Mikemon nodded.
"I say we bite the bullet and get the bigger scars handled. Its going to suck for tonight and tomorrow, but after that, you'll feel a lot less 'stiff'. It'll take about a week after that for the fur to properly grow back, but you should be able to get your full coat of fur back - minus the one across your chest."

”To be fair I’ve only had a few practical patients like this. Most of the stuff that I’ve done wouldn’t fall into the same category of treatment either.”
The meicoomon let out a small sigh and would go about examining her younger brother. Who had a real easy time just letting the two do their job; he didn’t seem bothered by the examination at all; in fact he would turn his body or adjust as holly needed to. Quite the workable patient! The renamon-x bit the inside of his cheek as Mikemon started to explain. Truth be told he didn’t understand why it worked this way either so… this would be fairly informative to him as it was to holly.
He’d lean a bit and holly would make sure that she wasn’t in the way for him to examine it. Every guess and bit of information that mikemon put forward was correct. The emergency graft would have been Herald’s data.
”I figured since me and herald shared the same data type that we would be compatible. I believe we’re both virus?”
Skald frowned a bit and rubbed at one of his ears; he didn’t fully understand the mambo jumbo with advanced medical stuff. He understood some of the basics which was enough to patch people up if they needed it or if they needed a treatment for drinking too much as it was shown with syre.
The differences between the ‘red’ and his normal flesh was pretty striking. Pale if not a bit more than what you’d expect due to him spending so much time indoors… But hearing that this was more of a permanent fixture in his life made it feel odd… He’d frown after a moment and when mikemon addressed him he couldn’t help but raise a brow.
”I mean its not like I have any plans or anything like that. So lets get to it then? Just… be careful with the big one all right? It can be a touch sensitive.”
Skald sighed a bit and holly seemed to be processing the information that her father had presented to her. Eyes flicking over it and looking to her brother after a bit with a small huff.
”Well if it’s a graft that just means we know how to deal with it or treat it if there’s discomfort or extra sensitivities right? That or do we need to examine the mon it’s from? This was from… Herald? Who’s herald?”
”My data sister. She and I share a core because of what she did.”
”Could the graft have also affected his core da?”

"Well, there's more to compatability than simply data type. You and your sister are from different 'families' - and even if you were from the same family, even just being a different species may throw it off."
Unless a skilled doctor was there from the start to oversee the graft, this sort of result was expected - and honestly, on the positive side of 'what could have happened'. The 'graft' wouldn't be able to be 'fixed', but the other scars? "We'll be as careful as we can, Skald. Mm?" Hearing Holly's comment, the feline considered it for a moment...
... Before shaking his head. "Right now, I'm not worried about his core. He's stable, and the graft works, so prodding at that tower of cards is probably not a good idea. For now, I just want you to watch the procedure carefully."
Of course, they weren't going to deal with the large gash, but as for the 'crooked scars'? The feline would start by taking a topical anesthetic, and injecting it right near the base of one of the scars, directing for Skald to lie back. Next came a razor: one that carefully glided over the skin, first with a buzz-cut to expose most of the scar, and then a careful pass-over to remove the smaller hairs.
Then came the scalpel. It would feel distant, due to the anesthetic, but a cut would be made right along the former wound, carefully slicing it open, before the doctor would take a needle and medical thread - and start to sew it back together. After everything was done, the cat would press a palm against it, a warm green light radiating over the cut, healing it so that it was properly aligned.
"Now you. Start on the one on the other side."

”I mean to be fair she’s a blood goat demon and I’m a fox made out of paper. That’s about as far as you can get from one another.”
Skald sighed a bit and shook his head; while the people around him at the time of the graft were skilled yes they were skilled in other departments. The renamon-x leaned his head back and wondered to himself how it would have differed if he had gone to a proper doctor for most of these.
”Fair enough Da. Just… I’m not used to working with grafts of this size you know?”
Holly sighed a little bit and watched the doctor get to work. Skald would lay back; looking somewhat uncertain for a moment before feeling that prick for the anesthetic. It wouldn’t take long to kick in and he’d close his eyes; exhaling just a bit.
The meicoomon would have to hop onto a stool to watch properly and with a hand to her mouth she’d watch curiously. It was straightforward and pretty easy to get to; so she’d be able to follow quickly. The others on her side didn’t look too different so she’d do the same as her da did; though she was unsure if she had to give the patient more anestetic for the time being.
The little mei would go about working in the same vein as her father; albeit with a bit of a shaky hand since she hadn’t really done this thing before either. A lot of firsts and a lot of things that she felt could go wrong. That being said? In this form she also didn’t have a way of doing the healing like her da did.
”Should I go to a higher form with healing to do the same thing da or…?”
Skald would cast a glance at the mikemon; wondering quietly to himself if this was a wise idea. Though that being said... He also felt like it would be okay if she didn't do that. The mikemon was right there wasn't he? He could just do the same thing he did for the other after checking his daughters work?
"It's rare for some kinds of rookies to have healing right? Or at least healing for other people."

Indeed, the two types weren't regularly compatible - but everything other than the graft could be handled by these two feline doctors. Seeing Holly's nervous tone - and seeing her shaking hands - Mikemon would step around the table, and carefully rest a hand on Holly's shoulder.
"Take a long, slow breath in, hold it for three seconds, and let it out." Holly had to relax. "You've done well on your incisions in class. Remember: even pressure, straight lines." Dad was here to catch any mistakes as it was, and this was one of the simpler, and more common, procedures that Holly would have to get down. And with dad's guidance, she would start to get through those cuts, and the stitching...
... But as Holly spoke up about the 'healing' process? Mikemon's hand would already be over the wound, a faint green glow radiating over it. "Just move onto the next one, I'll handle this much." Mikemon's ear flickered at Skald's comment. "Its a skill that can be learned by a fair number of weaker Digimon, but the problem for Holly would be the scale. If she moved up, the stronger healing might de-localize and start to 'heal' the scars that we haven't cut open yet. Improper or overuse of healing energy could be detrimental in the long run..."
Fortunately, Skald wouldn't have to deal with that. Mikemon would let Holly do the rest of the cuts, as Mikemon would follow-up with the healing, and guide her along through any of the more complicated angles or stitching... and at the end?
Skald would be sore, and where he once had uneven fur growing from the scars underneath, he'd now have bald patches, faint red lines across the middle of each of them.
"Sorry, it'll take a few days to a week before it'll start to look presentable. Unfortunate consequence of working with fur." The doctor gave a nod. "You'll also be stiff for a while - probably best that you take it easy for the rest of the day. Um, Holly, could you show Skald back to his room?"

Holly would do exactly as her father suggested; taking that long slow breath. Letting it out after a long three seconds and carefully went about her incisions. Skald looked somewhat curious but he… well he wasn’t in the position to really look at the moment so he didn’t much bother. Instead closing his eyes and just letting them work. He felt really tired from everything over the last few days.
”Right. I’ve done this before jus tnot… on an actual patient.”
Skald heard that explanation and holly seemed to take that to heart. Nodding her head a bit while skald’s eyes flickered a bit. HJe was clearly unused to the anesthetic so it was hitting him a little heavier than one normally would expect. He was a paperweight… so maybe he was a lightweight when it came to this sort of thing too!
Skald would slowly sit up after they were done with the cuts. He didn’t really know what to say regarding the healing and would just look down at his hands. There were a lot of scars that they went over and it’d take a few days to a week for those patches to grow back in. Slowly looking to his ‘father’.
”Well it’s better than looking like… well whatever i looked like before. I don’t think I’m going to be going anywhere anyways anytime soon so I think I’ll be okay.”
Skald managed a small smile; tired if not a little out of it from the anesthetic. So he’d stand up with the help of the little meicoomon who quickly found it would be hard to help him along in this form. Bumping herself up to a meicrackmon much to skald’s surprise she’d give her da a big ol smile.
”Of course! Just go ahead and lean on me if you need to skald. I’ve gotcha”
She felt like it was probably a bit early for her to call them bro at the moment or brother even. Even if she could feel the distant connectionb between their data. She could feel the small twinge of her mother; the arrogance of that wisemon and… something distantly related to her. Her form rather. That gnawing hunger. Did skald have it too? Or was that in some kind of other way like she was with knowledge?
The renamon-x looked extremely tired and once led to his bed he’d flop over and knock out cold. The meicrackmon stepping back to the door and closing it with a small sigh. She’d work her way back to mikemon and rub her neck.
”Did you feel those parts of him like I could da?”

Mikemon gave a smile towards his son, nodding as he noted that he was going to stick around a while. "Of course, we're glad to have you. Just make sure to avoid Silence's bear hugs for a few days, Skald."
He'd chuckle, and as Holly helped Skald to his room, the Mikemon would start to put things away, separating out the used tools for sterilization. It would only be a few minutes before Holly would return, the doctor's ear flicking at the MeiCrackmon's question.
"..."
What was the best way to answer that? It wasn't that Mikemon intended to actually hide anything from Holly, but this was truly an anomalous case. "Of course I could. He has your mother's data, sure - but the bulk of his form is derived from the Wisemon's tome."
The cat gave a 'tsk'. He took a step back, leaning against the wall, palm against his head. "That's what I knew when I went out to investigate initially. All I thought it would be was the Wisemon's data - but when I found him. When I felt her, I knew that I couldn't just let him waste away."
He gave a long pause, thoughts clearly still spinning through his head.
"... But his data doesn't matter. What he is, what he was, his lot in life - that doesn't define who he is. I know you already know it well from those who see you as 'just a Mei', Holly. So don't be scared of him because of that data."
"If you can, be his friend."
