World Tour D: Panic! At The Desert

 The directions to Farside Village were easy enough. That was not the problem. The problem was the physical act of getting there. Some models of digiport could have provided instant transport, but travelers without that probably wouldn’t have such an easy time. Farside was located deep within the desert, far from the oasis, far from the train tracks, far from Rustport, far from... well, just about everything. From within the village itself there was nothing to obstruct the view in any direction but sand dunes and the curvature of the planet, and from far away the little settlement always appeared much closer than it really was without a frame of reference. Without one of the mysterious messenger’s oddly convenient digiports or one of their own, responders to this call had to get where they were going under their own power. Almost every route was mostly safe, discounting the odd unfriendly wanderer, but going this deep into the desert under one’s own power could take a toll on the hardiest digimon. Hazards from heat, dehydration, and the sand itself were not off the table. However, a digimon could make the journey under their own power with wit, supplies, and a healthy constitution. Arrivals to Farside were always received with a warm welcome and a refreshingly chilled bottle of water by whoever was at the station that day, which in this case was a Cyclonemon and a Golemon. It was about midafternoon when the group met up here. As Cyclonemon and Golemon offered everyone hydration, the Golemon asked, “It’s not every day we get visitors on the far side of the desert. What brings you here?” By first impressions alone, it made sense that this spot wasn’t exactly a tourist hotspot. Besides the journey to get there, the village itself was remarkably forgettable. The homes and business were mostly tents and mud, and the population of the place couldn’t have been more than three hundred digimon given the limited space the village took up. Nonetheless it was a busy place with a diverse assortment of digimon milling about their business. |

When Owen received the strange message on his D-Terminal, he was at first hesitant to open it due to the garbled name of the sender, but his curiosity got the better of him. He opened it to find a rather concerning message that digimon had entered the human world, and there was a chance of humans entering the digital world in return. On closer reading, it seemed a human had appeared in a remote village and needed assistance.
“What is it, dad? Is it something we can help with?” Owen’s son Matty asked, eagerly, his twin brother Jimmy looking on eagerly.
“Sorry, boys, not something I can take you with me on.” the Gaomon replied. The initial disappointment in the Onmon and Musimon’s expressions faded, they knew from their last trip when their dad made the right call to bring them or not. “But you can help me get ready. I want you to find as many water bottles as you can and fill them with drinking water. Looks like I’m going on a rescue mission in the desert, we’ll need plenty of it.”
“On it, dad!” the twins said, at least glad they were able to help out that way. Owen meanwhile did some calculations in his head as to how much he could carry that far. It was a long way to fly, but, he had managed the distance before. And he had carried an adult human and several digimon that far before, so that was plenty of water he could transport. But just to be safe, he obtained a few medical supplies from another son, Haku (with asking permission first of course, and a promise to replenish said supplies on the way back).
About half an hour later when all was ready and Owen was well equipped, he evolved to his Perfect level form, MachGaogamon, and slung the two dozen full water bottles and various supplies over his shoulders. Including food, he was quite sure that humans needed that too as well as water.
“Good luck out there, dad! You can do it!” Matty cheered, and Jimmy indicated the same gesture with his paws and ears as Owen took off to the southwest.
After crossing the mountains that bordered the Western Flatlands and the Shining Sea, Owen felt the sun grow steadily hotter and brighter, the winds, while still dry, beginning to feel more heating that cooling. He lowered his sunglasses over his yellow eyes. While it wasn’t really necessary for digimon to drink water to live, he knew it was vital for humans, and thus went at full speed to hopefully deliver what was needed to this human in distress.
And, heck, some fresh water was always good for a digimon out in the desert. Even if he had more water than was necessary for a human, at least the excess could be appreciated by the digimon. Owen took a swig himself when he realized he was panting a little too hard.
Owen steadily approached the location given, and could easily see it from the sky. The MachGaogamon began to lower his elevation, slowing his speed, then finally landed outside Farside Village, adjusting his carried cargo to carry while walking rathet than flying.
“G’day there!” Owen called out to the Golemon and Cyclonemon that greeted him. He was surprised but glad to have water offered to him. He accepted the gift, glad to have something to cool him down after a long jetpack flight from Ys. “Cheers! Anyway, why I’m here? I got a message from a Lynxmon in the area that you have a human here that’s in need of medical attention. I’m here to see what I can do to help. Ah, I’m Owen by the way.”
Hopefully that was enough of an introduction for now. Owen paused to regain some of his energy. It had been a long flight, and he needed a bit of time to catch his breath following that opening greeting.

Omen was pretty sure the message she got on the D-Terminal had been actually intended for someone else, but in the off chance it had not? Well, it was likely worth heading over and seeing what can be done. Suffering was not something to just...leave there. It had to be dealt with!
So, after telling her mother about the whole shebang, and getting a begrudging 'Fiiiiine' from Mae, who Omen was suspecting was only allowing her to go on these because she knew she was just gonna sneak out anyways, Omen'd set out for the Trailmon she had to catch with...a lunch prepared.
Every time.
There was also a nonzero chance she'd run into people she knew on the train, or at the village. Apparently? She hadn't been listening too hard. But regardless, the Wispmon stepped out of the train at that was...plenty far from the village. Okay. So it was a run.
...The solution here was obviously Digivolve to Teumesmon and do that. And it would obviously take a bit. But, inevitably, midday, she'd arrive. And happily accepted her bottle of water. "Oh. Hi, grandpa!" She stated towards Owen as she went to wait near Golemon and Cyclomon. "...Where's everyone else? Am I early again?"
The last time she was early, shit went bad! OH NO.

Amelie had been to the desert before. Back on one of her earliest adventures, actually! She didn’t know if it was an experience to be remembered fondly or not, but it had nonetheless been an experience, and it had taught her invaluable lessons regarding the inhospitable climate. Some research had been done, especially when it came to what clothes to wear and to the precautions to have in a place like this. Sure, she still had her EV Suit with her, chances were she’d have to part ways with it, at least temporarily, pretty soon.
Her digiport had brought her relatively close to Farside Village, but she’d have to do the rest of the trip by car; not something she minded. Fifteen or so minutes of driving wasn’t that big of a deal, after all. The brunette hadn’t been in this particular part of the desert, so she made sure to stock up in case of any contingency. Leaving things to chance wasn’t her style, was it?
Eventually, Farside was reached, the young woman descending after parking her car a reasonable distance away. She calmly walked to the station, taking a water bottle if it was offered to her and giving it a sip. Given the ongoing conversation, it seemed like Amy hadn’t been the only person who received the message. Made sense.
“Good day, everyone.” She felt a vague hint of familiarity regarding these digimons, but Amelie couldn’t quite tell why. “I’m here to help as well.”
Maybe not the lengthiest introduction, but it’d do the trick. Chances were that she wouldn’t be the last being to arrive at this place, so she’d save the proper pleasantries once everyone was here.

"I think... I think I see it!" Nanami proclaimed, trudging through the last bit of desert before arriving at their supposed destination. Well, altered destination. Nanami and company were currently looking for someone else entirely, but when someone sends a message for help, it wasn't like they could just ignore it, right?
So the little girl and her three Digimon companions all set off out towards the desert. Towards a side that was really far. Farside, even. Nanami couldn't find it on the map, but then again, she couldn't find much of anything on the map. But pirates had to look at maps and stuff, so... she figured that she would learn how eventually!
On her head, rested a Terriermon who had expanded her ears out to provide the little girl some much needed shade. Though the Terriermon probably wasn't the most comfortable creature alive, resting atop of Nanami's sweaty mass of hair, she didn't seem to complain.
"Better not be another frickin' mirage this time!" And behind her, were two Digimon nearly as tall as Nanami was, but far more powerful in scale. "Hey... What's the matter, Snowcone? You feelin' a little drippy? You better not be melting on us!" A Lekismon mocked the Digimon across from her. Both were hoisting up a large wooden barrel, the substance of which seemed to be sloshing around freely as they carried it.
On the other side, a Chakmon, who looked like he was going to melt at any second now, nodded. "Yes. It is likely, that left unchecked, I would melt in this desert and be unable to move. Provided I am unable to obtain sustenance for myself, I would likely starve to death if left alone. So this heat is rather concerning." The snowy Digimon stated, not out of concern, but as a simple fact.
"Oh. That's... that sucks, man," The Lekismon wasn't sure how to respond to that. There wasn't anyone around to bicker with ever since... well, that was a story for another day!
But eventually, Nanami Hanabana, Mocha the Lekismon, Cream the Terriermon, and Shiroku the Chakmon would arrive at their destination, where a cyborg doggo who was most assuredly a good boy stood, alongside some ancient and wise human lady, and-
"Omen!" Nanami cried out, suddenly getting a burst of energy and running up to hug the Teumesmon, sweaty body and all.

"The human?" By the sound of that, Golemon already knew exactly what Owen was talking about. "That's an awful lot of you just to pick up one human. Is he one of those... those... Cyclonemon?"
"Generals, yeah," the Cyclonemon kindly finished for his companion, "Y'know, the ones with lotsa digimon."
"But they're not all digimon."
"Well, that's probably good." Cyclonemon raised one arm and pointed at a structure in the distance. "Lynxmon's the healer around here, but she's never had a human patient before. She's over there." The indicated structure was just a square tent - nothing fancy, just the bare minimum of poles it took to hold up a fading white fabric, but tall and wide enough to comfortably house a Lynxmon and probably ten more digimon her size, too. There wasn't much point in trying to knock on it, as the only solid surfaces were inside the structure, and the flap was wide open anyway.
She made eye contact with the group during their approach, which was how they knew that she saw them coming. "Come in, come in!" As the flaming feline used one paw to hold the flap open a little bit wider in a welcoming gesture, she made no effort to hide the relief on her face. She didn't even bother asking who these strangers were or why they were on her doorstep. With as few outsiders as this settlement got, she didn't think she had to. "Introductions quickly please. I am Lynxmon, Farside Village's healer and one of its councilors." This cat was clearly in a hurry. The party barely got enough time to give their names, if they so chose, before rushing right along.
"He's over there." Lynxmon directed everybody's attention to a 'doorway' (if it could be called that, as a hole in a dividing wall in the tent) that led to a pretty sparse room. The furniture was nothing but two mattresses and one short table beside each one. One of these mattresses was unoccupied. In the other lie Lynxmon's apparent patient. He was an odd enough sight by being... well, old. Not old-old (more like middle forties if one had to guess), yet most assuredly above the age of the average digivice holder. At first glance, there wasn't much wrong with him. His skin was very dark, and it was not pale or discolored as far as a glancing examination could show. He probably didn't have a beard or very much hair until recently, but a scraggly bush was growing in on his face, and a head of hair that was probably kept shaven was just growing out. There were no clear bruises or cuts on him, although most of his body was covered by his clothes just now. The man was in mid-cut boots and clean, undamaged blue jeans. Emblazened on his shirt was some sort of logo that vaguely resembled a sports team, but it was a picture that those present were highly unlikely to recognize unless they were big fans of human world football (soccer).
His belongings set to one side included a heavy jacket, just about the opposite that someone should wear for a trip through the desert. The humans definitely knew, and perhaps so did the digimon, that jacket this heavy only came out of the closet when temperatures dropped to nearly freezing. It was folded neatly, taking up all the table space, but a couple of other items lay on top of it. A keyring and keys settled beside a leather wallet. As well, there was a mostly-full box of cigarettes and a cheap lighter. On the floor just beneath the table was a canteen of water, half-empty, although given its design it looked more like something the village provided than something he had brought with him.
"Don't worry about keeping your voices down. He won't stir no matter how loud we talk. Believe me, I've tried!" Lynxmon huffed in frustration just thinking about it. "I hope you people know more about treating humans than I do. I've never seen a case I couldn't cure with some local herbs and my Vital Replenishment. It's almost like he's comatose, except-" Lynxmon indicated the canteen. "-that was full when I left it there this morning. I know no one else came in because I waited and watched outside just to make sure I wasn't losing my mind!" It was up to the group to ultimately decide whether she was perhaps losing her mind regardless. Between her frantic rate of speech and wild facial expressions, it wasn't out of the question. "And where is his digimon through all this? If I knew I'd give them the sort of thrashing that'd put them in the other bed! You two-" She looked to Nanami and Amelie. "-are the only humans I've ever spoken to for any length of time, but from the stories I didn't expect them to be so... fragile. No offense intended."
At this point the feline digimon needed a minute to collect herself, and in this case it was a literal passage of sixty seconds. That was how long she spent breathing in and out, at first rapidly but steadily slowing over that time. "Well, it will not stand! I have never failed a patient, and I am not about to start now. This is what I need from you: help me figure out what is wrong with him, then help him home. I might have done that last part myself with the digiport I use to visit my niece, but... well, why don't you try? You'll see what I'm talking about, or better yet maybe yours just solves the problem. Do any of you have a working digiport?" Just when it seemed like Lynxmon would let one of the protagonists sneak a word in edgewise, she finished with one final (actually so this time) plea: "Just... help."

Owen’s ears flicked when he heard the word ‘grandpa’ mentioned by a familiar voice. He turned and smiled to see that his granddaughter Omen was here too. “Oh! Heya, Omen, I see you’re helping out too?” he asked, pleased to see such initiative. He often saw her around Ys and was honestly delighted that Hasenya’s daughter was here too. He'd offer a brief hug if she accepted.
They were soon joined by a woman driving a car. Owen wasn’t sure if he knew her, but he recognized that her intentions were good, so he gave a smile and a wave at her too, supposing introductions could wait until later.
Last to arrive was another human and several of her partners. Owen decided from the fact that she seemed to be friends with Omen that she was most likely a good person.
Golemon seemed surprised that so many of them had turned up. Deciding that maintaining his Perfect level form any longer was a waste of energy, Owen would then revert back to his Gaomon form. His panting stopped shortly after, feeling plenty of energy available to him again. He spoke to address Golemon’s remark.
“Well, since all of us might have different experiences with humans and healing, hopefully all of us being here to help might be a good thing?” he suggested. Owen himself had experience with healing a human, his adopted son Vergil, although that was mostly dealing with battle damage. This sounded like something different to that. He hoped though that he could still maybe help.
He dropped all his supplies and turned to Golemon and Cyclonemon. "Ah, right, I mainly brought all these supplies to help keep the human alive, just in case you didn't have what you needed here. However, if we manage to help the human out, everything left over I'm happy to give you as a gift from Ys."
They were soon introduced to Lynxmon. Owen quickly gave his name again as introduction, not wanting to waste time as she did seem in a rush.
Then Lynxmon led them to the human in distress. Yes, he seemed like the average human, at least to what Owen knew of them. And he didn’t seem to have any battle damage either, so there probably wasn’t much his healing abilities could do. The Gaomon rubbed his chin with thought, thinking of his previous interactions with humans. Even though he was a digimon with no human partner, he had met quite a few of them, and knew them to be quite friendly to him, given his informed resemblance to one of their Earth dogs.
Owen did not in fact have a digiport. However, a fact quickly surged to Owen’s mind. “Ah, that’s right. Humans tend to be very careful with information and identity, so we might be able to learn something about this one from his wallet.” he said. “It’s rude to touch any money that might be in it, but there might be some sort of ID in there that can tell us at least who he is and where he’s from. Humans come from many different parts of their world and speak many different languages. Oh! Right, and some humans have some underlying medical conditions and they sometimes carry this information with them too.”
After saying this, he then just realized he was in the same room as two actual humans and gave an awkward chuckle. “...am I being accurate so far?” he asked, hopeful that he was.

Well, there was a lot to take in all at once. Not that such was a bad thing, of course. But still, Omen was only one Digimon. "Yes, yes I am. I...It didn't sit well with me that there was something wrong here, so far off the beaten path. So...I wanted to help. You being here puts me at ease, though, Grampa." She'd accept the hug from her grandfather, letting out a happy chirp akin to a bird from the human world. "Oh, hello, Amelie!" ...For the Frenchwoman, Omen's voice shifted to that of Odette--the girl from the day Amelie met Honoka.
And her previous holosuit. Then came the person who she was actually not expecting to find here for a change--Nanami! Who also came up and hugged her. "It's nice to see you...Though...Are you okay? You seem really sweaty. Did you get your water?" She seemed just as happy as with Owen hugging her.
"Better yet, do you want mine? I'm kind of ethereal, so...heat doesn't affect me much."
The offer had been there if Nanami wanted it. Either way, there was work to do, namely volunteer work in aiding the local healer, a Lynxmon. When prompted to, there was really no need for Omen to say more than her name when prompted to by the healer. The Teumesmon was prepped to listen.
"One of us should have a working digiport at least. Grampa's words seem to be rooted in personal experience, and having spent a bit of time amongst humans myself, I can corroborate this. Not every human is one-to-one the same, so we should at least identify if there are any medical conditions." Like Owen said, really.
"Once we know that, then we can figure out what to do. I don't know if my Vulnerary Aid can help with this just yet, so...Forgive my lack of action for the moment."
...Hold up.
"...Wait, does he even have a wallet?" Omen muttered that out loud before taking note of the wallet over there. Cool. The Teumesmon inched over and decided to flip it open. Where's that ID...If any...

Everyone seemed to congregate briefly at the same point; after a quick greeting from Cyclonemon and Golemon—and a somewhat shocked look at the fact that Odette was merely an alias for another being, the group quickly advanced to the tent were the resident physician was located. Introductions were requested quickly, and answered in kind.
“Name’s Amelie; pleased to meet everyone. Now, let’s do the helping thing.” She gazed around the tent before finally focusing on the patient. She listened to Owen’s words before giving an affirmative nod. “That sounds about right; it might be related to what’s happening at the moment. For the time being, I’m gonna give him a bit of a general check-up and see if there’s anything we can identify as immediately threatening.”
She was lucky to have thought about the situation a bit beforehand and brought with her a thermometer, but truth was that she was heavily under-equipped and lacked the elements to make a proper diagnosis such as a sphygmomanometer or a pulse oximeter, but what she had at hand would have to do. “I think he’s suffering from a pretty severe heatstroke. At least judging from his clothes, it’s easy to guess he’s probably not used to this kind of weather.” With a sigh, she removed the EV suit out of her clothes and placed it in the unconscious human’s. That would be a start. “Would anyone mind giving me a hand? Somebody who’s strong enough to reposition the patient if needed to be, if possible.”
The brunette, who had thus far listened to what Lynxmon had to say, nodded in affirmation. “Don’t worry about it. I’m not a professional, but I’m gonna do my best with the limited knowledge I have.” Having said this, she went through the usual motions while Omen searched for the wallet. Measuring temperature, checking if pulse was on the stable side. Was he sweating? How profusely, if so? Those were all signs that could confirm or deny her previous diagnosis. In the meantime, hopefully Omen and/or everyone else aiding her would find something of help.
“Are we positive this person doesn’t have a digivice anywhere in their person? If he isn’t a digivice holder, we might be in a bit of a problem over here.” How would they proceed, even if he recovered consciousness? The fact that he might actually get scared to death at the presence of alien animals was somewhat concerning, but they’d probably think about that once they were done making sure he wasn’t getting worse.

"It's okay! I'm drinking plenty of water! It's why I'm sweating and stuff!" Nanami assured the bestfriendmon. She smiled and acted like everything was okay, while Cream remained overall lethargic on her head and Mocha grumbled and complained under her breath behind them. Shiroku remained silent, though the snowy Digimon was clearly the most miserable out of the four.
Introductions were in order, but Nanami had to be brief! "I'm-Nanami-and-this-is-Cream-and-behind-me-are-Mocha-and-Shiroku-and-also-I-brought-ice-cream!" She cried out at a machine gun speed. She smiled afterwards, proud of the fact that she didn't stumble over her own words!
As Lynxmon began to describe the situation, Nanami followed along the best she could, managing to understand most of it. She nodded thoughtfully for no reason, if only to make it seem like she was smarter than she actually was. In actuality... she had no idea how to help at all.
Owen started to talk about human stuff and it mostly made sense. Truth be told, the sheltered Nanami was not the right person to talk to when it came to conventional wisdom and social norms. He even brought some medical supplies and stuff! But he seemed pretty smart, so he seemed like he knew what he was talking about! Also, Owen went from big strong doggy to cute smaller doggy who must be pet. But maybe another time.
Omen then began to search the person's wallet. So... that was taken care of, she supposed. It was more of a one-person job, anyway. "Oh, and maybe go see what kind of stuff is on his keyring, too!" Nanami advised. Probably wouldn't be very useful, but... thoroughness and whatnot.
And then Amelie went over to the patient himself and began checking vitals and whatnot. Even gave him her own EV suit. Nanami would have done the same, but she was using her EV suit to keep her ice cream cold! She even made sure to turn it on before leaving it in the barrel!
That's right, that was something Nanami could do! "Mocha, Shiroku! Let's pass the ice cream around! It'll help everyone cool off, right?"
"About damned time!" Mocha groaned, setting down the barrel, prying open the lid and... revealing a barrel full of melted ice cream.
"Ah..." Nanami gave the barrel a blank stare. Okay. So EV suits don't work on barrels of ice cream! "Th-that's..." She put her head down in disgrace, but the Chakmon patted her shoulder, looking uncomfortable as he did so.
"I expected this much to happen, Captain," He stated, reaching into his belongings, grabbing a bowl and what looked to be a large ice-cube tray. He reached into the melted ice cream barrel with his bowl, then poured its contents into the tray. Once he got them full, he stuck little popsicle sticks into them, then used his icy breath to re-freeze them. "There. Not an elegant solution, but sufficient." He stated, plucking them from the tray and passing them around to everyone who was willing. "We'll retrieve your EV suit when the barrel's less full, Captain."
"Umm... Okay!" Nanami said, saluting the Chakmon. Was that what captains were supposed to do? She shrugged, and moved over to the patient, kneeling down besides him and Amelie. "Umm... I'm not really good at this kinda stuff, but I've had nurses and doctors do stuff to me most of my life... so maybe there's something I can do to help!" She didn't elaborate, but she gestured Mocha over towards her, who was massaging her arms now that they were free from carrying the barrel of melted ice cream. "If this guy is really warm, then Mocha might be able to help! She can make ice stuff, so maybe it can cool him down some? Doctors don't like it when their patients are asleep, so we should do everything to make this guy wake up, right? 'Cuz we don't have medical records and stuff!" She heard a grumble from above her, as the Terriermon on her head seemed lost in thought.
"Comin' right up!" Mocha said, nonchalantly approaching them, a gleaming icy dagger in hand. "I made sure to make it dull so he doesn't get cut or stabbed. So... where do you want me to stick this?" A mischievous grin took over the Lekismon's face. "I bet he'll wake up real quick if we shove it up his a-"
"Assuming this human doesn't have a Digivice, then waking him up might..." She looked over towards the frozen bear monster, the pink rabbit monster, the punchy-dog monster, and... well... Omen. "If he's a newcomer, then he might be in for a bit of a surprise."
"Nah! We'll just tell him he's dreamin' and everything'll be fine!" Mocha assured her sister.
"Even if they're scary at first, we're friends!" Nanami added. "So we'll just be extra friendly and things'll work out!"

On the advice of the Gaomon, the Teumesmon took to rummaging through the man's wallet. The object was of a dark black leather make which opened in half. Identification was not hard to find. It was printed right there in plain English that the man's name was Fletcher Weeks on a driver's license that faced outward from the inside of one fold. The same driver's license was printed entirely in English. If Omen could read it, that meant she knew Fletcher Weeks' driver license number, expiration date, license class. Almost certainly those things were extremely boring, but it got a little more interesting from there. The man's birth date was August 8th, 1975, significantly older than the usual human crowd to be found in the digital world. He already appeared that way, but now there was an exact date on it. Obviously a license written completely in English was not Japanese, and Omen did not have to look far for its true origin. Printed across the very top of the card under the big bold words "DRIVER'S LICENSE" was in slightly smaller font "WESTERN AUSTRALIA." Indeed, the seal of the state government of Western Australia was also adorned in the top left corner. A closer look at the man's address could tell Omen that the patient was from the city of Perth and even his exact home address, if she was so inclined to it.
While Amelie was allowed to approach the patient, Mocha was not. Lynxmon put her own body between Fletcher and Mocha and showed her teeth. Lynxmon hissed at the Lekison, "You will not be shoving anything anywhere." Clearly, the combination of the Lekison's sharp(ish) instrument and flippant attitude did not endear them to the fiery feline. Of course, for obvious reasons, neither could the healer herself swipe the instrument and try the same thing. When she thought there could be compromise, Lynxmon addressed Nanami. "You can try and rouse him... but no 'shoving.'"
The wielder of spirits, on the other hand, was allowed to investigate Fletcher Weeks' condition freely... and quite thoroughly, going by what she'd brought along. With the extra aid of Nanami, both girls were able to manipulate Fletcher where they need him to examine him as 'properly' as lay people could in these conditions. The temperature reading came back at a reading of 99.9 degrees Farenheit (or the appropriate Celsius conversion, depending on her thermometer). As she measured Fletcher's heart rate for a full sixty seconds, she should have counted exactly 93 beats in that time. Perhaps she could have measured for less time and multiplied the result, but Amelie probably knew that wouldn't tell her whether the pace was steady or not. Fortunately, she could be certain that it was a steady, stable rhythm. As gross as it was, it may also have been a good thing Amelie could feel a thin layer of sweat on the man's skin. As far as she could tell, it was about as much sweating as someone should be doing in the shade of otherwise still very hot weather. This also must have meant that his body thought it had the water to spare.
If Amelie knew much about vital signs and heat stroke, then she knew that Fletcher's vital signs, while approaching the higher ends of the normal range, did not rise to the extremes of heat stroke, corroborated by the amount of sweating she found where a heat stroke victim induced by weather would have left his skin dry. Almost good news, except it still wasn't clear what was ailing the poor man if not heat stroke.
Omen's search would take her through more cards in Mr. Weeks' wallet - mostly credit cards, rewards cards, insurance cards... utterly mundane things, the lot of them. The same held true for the man's keys, unless she was interested in the fact that he drove a Toyota. Not even a recent one, seeing as its key wasn't one of those electronic ones. However, since Owen mentioned it, the fire digimon knew that she might find some use from a slip buried just under the driver's license.
I suffer from a panic disorder, and I may rarely faint under stress. Help me to a quiet place and elevate my legs, and I should wake up within fifteen minutes.

Owen felt somewhat more confident that they could succeed, with his granddaughter here. However, he tried to focus on the task at hand, this could be a serious situation and it wouldn’t do to mess about. And better still, Omen knew the other human as well, Amelie. Well then, that was good enough for the Gaomon to trust the rest of the group.
He was glad to hear from Amelie that he had been accurate so far. He had to know things like this after all, he had adopted a human into his family, and had almost caused embarrassment by making ignorant guesses about what shoes to buy him to replace the ones destroyed by battle. Thankfully his other sons Matty and Jimmy knew enough about shoes so that Owen had got him the sneakers he had wanted and not the ugg boots he would have otherwise chosen.
Amelie then checked the patient over, asking for someone strong enough to reposition them. “I could try and help.” he replied. While Owen was not very tall in his rookie form compared to a human, he was still fairly strong, and could support an adult human at least. However, Lynxmon making the sudden movement to block Fletcher and Mocha made him hesitate. And it seemed that no further assistance was needed, so Owen would hold back and wait to see the developments for now.
Once Owen was privy to what was written on the man’s ID, he would blink a little and say “Australia, huh? I’ve heard humans tell me that my accent sounds like I’m from there, even though I’m not. But I do know that it’s in the south of the human world, compared to Japan anyway.”
Owen then turned back to Omen once enough time had passed. “Found anything noteworthy in there, Omen?” he asked, wondering if she had found any other clues in the man’s wallet.

...Omen felt a bit bad at that look Amy gave her. Was that a very shattering sort of revelation? No, probably not. But a façade being broken was...Hm. It didn't feel very nice. Let's go with that, yes?
Regardless, a man's ID was able to reveal a lot about him, and a lot of new things for Omen herself given she had never once set foot outside of Shibuya in her goddamn life. The Teumesmon remained more or less quiet unless she was asked anything.
"I actually have, grandpa!" She nodded, once she was finished sifting through this poor man's identification and cards. The fact this was a Digimon who could remember practically everything...uh. That might not be good information to leave in her hands.
But Omen was also not the kind of person to use such things poorly. "This man--His name's Fletcher Weeks, he comes from a land down under! I do not believe he can feel the thunder, by virtue of there being none here. He also has a panic disorder and...may faint under stress." ...The tale being pieced together here, especially with a lack of a Digivice that Omen knew of, was becoming a bit more apparent.
Either way? It was pretty easy to deduce what to do from there. "Elevate his legs and he will wake up within fifteen minutes. It says so here." The fox turned and held up the slip underneath the Driver's License (trademark.)
If that was that, she was going to move around to try finding something--anything to do just that with.

The examinations proceeded smoothly, and even though they didn’t throw anything abnormal, that was a relief in itself. Amelie swiped the sweat off her brow before graciously accepting one the popsicles that were being offered around.
She thanked whoever ended up being her helper before addressing everyone else present. “As far as I can tell, he’s unconscious, but stable. Did you get any luck regarding his IDs?”
Of course, that revealed the tidbit regarding the fact that Mr. Weeks suffered from panic disorder. The reason why became a little on the obvious side as soon as Amy thought about the situation for about a couple seconds. Or, at least a good guess of what it could be. “I believe this is Mr. Week’s first trip to the Digital World, and what he saw might’ve triggered his condition. His digivice being nowhere to be found is a good indicator of this. He probably had a hard time stomaching it all.”
After a nod, the young woman proceeded with the motions to restore consciousness to the man. “It’d be for the best if we could reduce the amount of people present to three or four at most. Any digimons present in this tent should either activate their holosuits or leave. We’ll try to reduce any exposure to potential stressors as much as possible to avoid another episode if able. Once Mr. Weeks wakes up and we can confirm there aren’t any other issues ailing him, we can arrange a trip back to where he lives. Sounds good to everyone?”
Of course, if anyone had a better idea regarding how to deal with this situation, she was all ears. It was a bit clear that she wasn’t very proficient at this and was just trying her best.

So... stuff happened. Owen and Omen apparently didn't like popsicles, Omen found out a bunch about the dude, and apparently Lynxmon really didn't seem to like Mocha for some reason. "It's okay, Lynxmon!" Nanami assured the fiery kitty. "Mocha wouldn't actually hurt him!"
"I was just jokin' around, obviously..." Mocha stated, rolling her eyes at the medical practitioner. "You gotta lighten up a bit, or before you know it, you're gonna be so stressed you'll start fainting, too! Then you'll be an even shittier doctor than you already are!"
"Mocha, that was mean!" Nanami chided the Lekismon while the little girl's partner gave a mocking laugh. "She doesn't know anything about humans!"
Mocha shrugged while shaking her head, stepping away for the time being. Amelie was probably right about crowding the room. "Hey, Snowflake, step outside with me for a bit, would ya? You too, Dr. Whiskers, before ya scare your patient to death!"
"...Wonderful," Shiroku noted, displeased at going back out into the desert sun. Regardless of what everyone else did, there wasn't much left other than waking up Mr. Weeks.
"Oh! I know how to do that one!" Nanami exclaimed as she assisted Amelie in lying him down on his back and shoving some blankets or pillows or something underneath his feet to lift them up. "His heart stops beating as fast, and all the blood goes down to his legs, so if we lift his legs the blood goes back to heart and head and he'll wake up again!" She seemed proud of her knowledge, as obvious as it was at this point. "I used to have that happen to me a whole bunch when I was younger, so they had to put in a thingy to make my old heart work better... oh, but I'm all better now!"
Nanami naturally followed this up by saying, "And I think we shouldn't crowd either, but Amelie and I should stay since we're human! And Owen should stay here, too, just in case this guy only speaks Australian!"
Meanwhile, Cream stayed by, making sure not to move or draw attention to herself. Just in case. Plus, she really didn't want to go outside. In the meantime, maybe Owen and Omen would find something more about this strange human?
