World Tour A: Won't You Playa With Me?

Playa Coral Negro, or Black Coral Beach, was a remote spot this early in the morning, particularly this early in the season before travellers from across the world were making plans in bulk to visit this upscale tourist destination. The tourists who were already in most likely preferred to visit one of the more convenient northern beaches, which was really a shame because, as our heroes were going to discover imminently, it was beautiful. It felt like a crime to leave the area without taking a picture, and the water was so clear that a camera could have clearly caught a coin dropped a meter under the water. Under the constant exposure of the searing Mexican sun, it was hard to consider the water too cold even for the pickiest of swimmers. A quick dip probably felt like a compelling option just now, what with the tropical temperatures at work even just an hour after sunrise. Maybe if there was time that could come later (or, alternatively, it was tempting to postpone the task entirely and indulge a little). It was certainly a safe option; this beach was pretty clear of any other people and, as far as anyone could tell, any other digimon. Yet the group could no doubt see for themselves that civilization was but a short walk away. To their north, the resort began proper, and humans en masse were already arriving to enjoy the decadent beachside restaurants and some fun in the sun. Many people were plainly visible from this distance. To the northeast, nothing but more water, and to the northwest a marina was in walking distance. The beach extended a long way east before it, too, gave into the ocean. They could see a scree directly west, and closer to them in that direction is where began a road that would probably get them to all these places and more. Even this early in the morning the sky was bright and beautifully clear. On a more normal day, it looked like lovely weather to really enjoy the resort town. It might have been lucky that the tourists instead chose the beaches to the north for the sake of not being seen walking through a portal, but it was also a crying shame. Though the instant digiport closed behind them, there was another portal to find.

After emerging from the instant digiport, Hana and Data (who was currently wearing his holosuit) took a moment to scan their surroundings. The digiport seemed to drop them off on a noticeably empty beach.
"Huh, this is not exactly where I thought we would end up." Data said as he looked around the beach. "You sure you don't want to go swimming while we're here, Hana?"
"No, thank you. We're here for a very important reason." Hana replied as she double-checked the diving kit they'd brought along. She wasn't sure if it would be necessary but felt that it was better to be safe than sorry. "Not to mention the fact that we're technically here illegally, and I don't want to be arrested."
"Good point." Data conceded with a grimace. He disengaged his holosuit so that he could prepare toArmor Digivolve into his Submarimon form once he reached the water. For once, that form is actually coming in handy.

With a soft crunch Devidramon landed upon black coral beach, his descent collapsing the sand beneath him. “Wow…this place is beautiful. Very scenic” Alvin said before he slid off the demon dragon’s back. “Where are we anyway?” Wondered the youth aloud, curious as to where they’d been dropped by the portal. “It looks like a beach.” Yawned the devidramon, unimpressed by the vast expanse of sand, water and sky. “You just can’t appreciate beautiful sights.” Quipped Alvin at his partner’s lack of interest in their surroundings. A short snort in Alvin’s direction was Ekon’s only reply. “The biggest issue is how do I go about going underwater. I guess I could swim?” Hands on his hips he queried just what he’d do about the whole underwater thing. Flying was more his digimon’s specialty not going underwater. Maybe he could buy some scuba gear? Was that even possible? Ekon his Digimon wasn’t exactly helpful either, and replied with a shrug of his mighty shoulders. Neither of them knew what to do about the water issue, but he could at least fix the giant Digimon problem. “Hey, Ekon engage your holo-suit or else you are going to attract attention.” Another irritable snort escaped his snout before the great beast diminished his form, transforming into a little boy(Click me). “Better?” The draconic demon was feeling particularly crabby today and wasn’t afraid to show it. “Very” Replied Alvin in an almost oblivious tone. Despite the very large issue before them he was still feeling pretty good. It wasn’t every day you got to visit a tropical getaway. In fact he’d been pretty happy since acquiring his Digimon companion. He’d sometimes wondered if the feeling was mutual with his partner, but it was something he’d pushed him about. The most important thing ahead of them was finding out how to get over their current issue.

The arrival of two teenagers and three digimon was heralded by a flock of sea birds, normally apathetic to the presence of people, squawk and scatter. They retreated not too far, though, just a couple dozen feet further down the beach, where they continued about their sea bird business while keeping a healthy awareness to their surroundings.
Alvin's suspicion that the water was a good place to look was confirmed when both his and Hanako's digivices would simultaneously beep softly and shift out of whatever screen they were displaying to one that was, well, mostly blank. It could have been mistaken for a malfunction before one red dot gently floated in from one edge of the screen. If either human rotated in space, they would see the dot move around the screen, akin to the north point on a compass. It was obvious by the sun, however, that wherever this 'compass,' that red dot was indicating was not north. Besides the fact that it wasn't quite exactly north, it was also moving along the screen.
The red dot seemed to migrate toward the center of the screen on each digivice... and quickly. Each machine would start to beep ominously as the dot grew in size and accelerated, the rate beeping accelerating with the icon's speed. It started to sound like a blaring alarm as the dot dashed toward the center. When the bright red icon on the screen collided with the center, then-
"-Ya te tengo!" Something leapt from the water and attempted to tackle Hana. "¿Dónde está, inmundas aves? ¿Dónde lo guardan? ¡Hable!" It was only after a Gomamon - a female one, going by the sound of her voice at least - had clung to the girl's leg and made this demand that the digimon realized her mistake. Her tune changed before anyone even got a chance to scold her, her countenance going from excited and bloodthirsty to horrified and repentant almost faster than either human could blink. "...Espera. No eres la amenaza de aves," she acutely observed.
Just after, the realization dawned on her face. "¡Eres tú! ¡Tú eres mi compañera! ¡Compañera! ¡Compañera!" The more that Gomamon would go on to repeat that last word, the more excited and gleeful she seemed to get... and the tighter she tried to cling to Hana's leg.
"I gotcha now!" Something leapt from the water and attempted to tackle Hana. "Where are they, you filthy fowl? Where are you keeping them? Talk!" It was only after a Gomamon - a female one, going by the sound of her voice at least - had clung to the girl's leg and made this demand that the digimon realized her mistake. Her tune changed before anyone even got a chance to scold her, her countenance going from excited and bloodthirsty to horrified and repentant almost faster than either human could blink. "...Wait. You aren't the bird menace," she acutely observed.
Just after, the realization dawned on her face. "It's you! You're my partner! Partner! Partner!" The more that Gomamon would go on to repeat that last word, the more excited and gleeful she seemed to get... and the tighter she tried to cling to Hana's leg.

Well, okay then. Apparently, Hana and Data found the Gomamon who had crossed through the portal, which was now rapidly speaking Spanish at the duo and had Hana's leg in a death grip. "Uh, I don't speak Spanish." Hana nervously said as she looked at the Hagurumon accompanying her. "Can you translate, Data? Please?" "Give me one second." Data replied as he ran the Gomamon's words through his internal translation software. "Alright, let's see. She's asking where somebody is, and mentioning something about birds and a 'bird menace', and...oh, you have to be kidding me!""What is it?" Hana said as she tried pulling the Gomamon off of her leg. "She thinks that you're her partner, even though I'm literally right here." Data grumbled in irritation. The annoyed Hagurumon promptly digivolved himself to Guardromon and grabbed the Gomamon hugging Hana's leg. "Tienes a la persona equivocada. Ella ya es mi compañera1."
1-"You have the wrong person. She's my partner."

From Alvin’s wrist escaped a gentle squeak, drawing his attention to the seemingly malfunctioning device. “Why is the screen blank?” Inquired an inquisitive Ekon, eyes transfixed on the newly blossomed dot.
“It must be picking up this red dot.” Alvin responded to his demonic cohort with a slowly emerging clarity. With a shake of his head, Ekon responded with an unspoken acknowledgment. Digivices were even more fascinating than he’d initially thought. Even his devidramon companion was unaware of its extensive capabilities, which further intrigued him. “It looks like it’s heading somewhere.” The boy attempted to follow the dots’ movement, which seemed to indicate that it was northbound. “Wait…it’s not going north?” He said, puzzled by the erratic red blob’s actions. To make matters even more perplexing for the duo the device began to ominously beep.
“Why is it beeping?” Ekon whispered to his confused partner. Clever as he was, the inner workings of a digivice were beyond the Devidramon. Not that he cared to know anything about them beyond their basic functions anyway. Something told him this was unusual even for the digivice strapped to his tamer’s arm.
“I am not sure, but it’s getting louder,” Alvin said, his voice increasingly being overtaken by the blaring device. With great haste, the dot sped towards the center of the screen. “What the?” An explosion from the ocean grabbed his attention. A Gomamon emerged from the sea speaking what Alvin knew to be Spanish. Events became even stranger when the Digimon raced towards a girl, tackling her to the ground. ”Whoa..are you ok?” Surprise spoke in his stead. Alvin wasn’t sure what was going on, but he assumed this beast was the mysterious dot.
“According to that Gomamon she’s its tamer.” Finger anchored to the sight of Hana, Ekon translated for his confused tamer. “Really? She doesn’t seem to think so.” Alvin countered as he watched Hana struggle with the Gomamon clinging to her leg. He was indeed proven correct when Data uncuffed the little Digimon from Hana’s leg.

"Oh. Japanese?" Like a switch, the Gomamon shifted languages to Hanako's first language. Well, that would definitely make communication easier. Gomamon didn't let the girl's leg go willingly, but the bigger and stronger Gaurdromon nevertheless pried her off of it without much effort. She continued to struggle and flail in his grasp until he explained the misunderstanding: this human was claimed. That was when she allowed her body to go limp, ending her resistance. It showed on her face that the message had sunk in on the first scolding alone. "Sorry..." she whined, looking down at the ground. "I understand."
She frowned. She squirmed. She wrestled herself free. She bounded up to Alvin and made an attempt for his leg. "You're the guy, then! Awesome! It's you and me, us against the world, my dude! The two of us are gonna make an unstoppable team, just you wait. Look, I know I'm funny-lookin' but I can explain. See, I'm whatcha call a 'digimon,' or a digital monster, 'cause where I come from all our world's made of digital data instead of this whole 'matter' shtick you humans got goin' on. I can see right there in your hand you got a digivice. Now I know for sure you and me, we're gonna be best pals. Come on, we're going on an adventure right here, right now!"
It was only after that monologue that the Gomamon blinked and glanced to one side, where a holosuited boy stood. She tried to be quiet, but in her excitement she wasn't very good at it as she 'discreetly' asked to Alvin, "Psst. Who's the scary kid? He's freakin' me out."

"Well, as long as that misunderstanding's cleared up, we should be fine." Data said after the Gomamon got the message about Hana already being claimed. At least the Gomamon was polite enough to switch to Japanese after learning Hana didn't speak Spanish, which was a good start. Hana did feel a little bad for the seal-like Digimon, though. Hopefully, they'd find their actual partner one day.
And then the Gomamon immediately latched onto the next person she came across and started chatting up a storm. Both Hana and the Guardromon facepalmed at that, as it seemed the Gomamon didn't quite learn as much as they'd hoped.
"Well, so much for stealth." Data wearily said, before addressing the two people who had just showed up. "So, what brings you two here? Any chance we can convince you two to pretend that you never came across a robot and a talking seal out here?"

When the duo reached a clearly distressed girl, they were in for a surprise. Once torn from Hanako, the automaton-like digimon reprimanded the usurper before explaining that he was in fact her partner. Well, at least that’s what Alvin gathered from Data’s demeanor and tone. Of course, this wasn’t confirmed until Ekon translated the exchange for his befuddled master. “Ah..so it was a misunderstanding?” The dark-skinned boy’s questioned signaled his understanding of the events that had previously transpired. It seemed that the little creature mistook Hanako for her own. Initially, Alvin felt pity for her plight, but he was certain she’d find a partner someday.
Amazingly, upon learning that Hanako was not her tamer the Digimon didn’t despair. In fact, she seemed unphased by the whole revelation. Without hesitation Gomamon abandoned both her language and Hanako in favor of Japanese and Alvin. “So…” Before the words escaped his mouth, the boy found himself prone with a Gomamon anchored to his leg. Talk of the digital world and adventures they’d take together bombarded him, much to Alvin’s annoyance. For one thing he already sired a Digimon, and two, the little runt was using him as a consolation prize. The first he could forgive, but the second was an insult to his pride. “Uh…I already” Alvin’s response didn’t even have a chance to form into a full sentence. She cut him off once again, well at least the next interruption didn’t involve tackling him to the ground.
“He already has a Digimon.” Ekon’s voice cut through the Gomamon’s verbal assault. Thumb turned inward, to show that the “creepy kid” was a Digimon all along. Ragged wings tore from Ekon’s holo-suited back before wrapping around him, only to unfurl seconds later making his identity all to clear. When the tattered appendages came to rest at his side, a lumbering devidramon took the boy’s place. With surprising speed Ekon’s maw gently closed around the Gomamon’s tail yanking her off. Uninterested in conflict when he himself, was still very weak, Ekon made sure not to harm her. ” You needn’t worry about us. Alvin isn’t a civilian.” He replied, mouth full of Digimon.
‘Yea, sorry about the confusion, everyone.” Still vertical, Alvin offered his apologies. Ekon offered his tail to his fallen master, helping him back to his feet. “Oh, I guess I should introduce myself. I am Alvin and this is my partner, obviously. And to answer your question; I am going to guess the same thing that brought you guys here.” He said dusting himself off before he spoke again. ” Impressive looking Digimon, btw.” Alvin was always intrigued by how varied digimon were.

Gomamon did not go quietly. She nearly pulled Alvin with herself into the air, and even after her grip broke she continued to flail and protest at Ekon, screaming in quick succession a demand to let go, how he didn't have to be so mean about it, wondering who he thought he was anyway, proclaiming how quickly she would drop him in a fight if she had a human partner backing her up... that was the background noise to Alvin's and Hana's conversation. She clearly did not appreciate being suspended by the tail like a fish on a line.
Her final act of rebellion was when she finally thought to make a move instead of struggling in a mad frenzy that wouldn't get her anywhere. At some point she managed to plant both feet on the Devidramon's snout, where she would then kick off. She didn't expect this to harm the much larger digimon, but the physics of the act along with the help of gravity gave her the force she needed to escape Ekon's gentle grasp and crash right back into the sand. Even as her head fell all the way in and got stuck there, she continued to scream with a muffled, "Mmmumummmmummm!" obviously meaning to say specific words. It was anyone's guess what those words were, though. It took a second feat of strength for her to push off the sand and yank her head out of it with a pop, followed by a shake.
"Do you guys always go picking folks up? That's so rude, y'know!" Gomamon chastised the other digimon before turning off. With an indignant huff, she turned her back on them all and looked across the water to the opposite shore. There, lots of people were now really starting to pour into the beach for some fun in the sun... and this sight made Gomamon's eyes shoot open, her formerly hissy face switching like a dime to a gleeful expression. "Look at all the humans! I bet one of them is my partner. Probably nicer, too. Hey! Hey, humans! Heeeeey!" That was it before Gomamon started to spring along the sand until she could catch an outgoing wave.
When she did, she began to dart across the surface of the water at a velocity that could have made sailfish jealous. All along the way she was continuing to call at the crowd for their attention. At this distance, the tourists and their families seemed noisy and consumed enough with their own business not to catch Gomamon straight away, but she was sure as heck visible.

The Devidramon's reveal caused Data to relax slightly. That was one potential issue avoided, but the fact that the Digimon was a Devidramon had him remain somewhat on edge.
"I'm Hana, and that's Data. Are you here to help locate the portal as well?" Hana asked after introducing herself and her partner.
"Wow. I can't tell if she's crazy, reckless, or just stupid. Probably all three." Data said in dumbfounded shock as the Gomamon took off like a rocket towards the other shore. He sighed before saying, "Alright, I can't believe I'm saying this, but I think we need Rush to go catch her. He's the only one fast enough to do so."
"If you say so." Hana nervously agreed before pulling out her digivice and releasing Rush from the V-pet program. Hana quickly digivolved the Keramon to his Eosmon form before filling him in on the situation.
"ALRIGHTY, MA'AM. YOU CAN COUNT ON ME TO CATCH THE RUNAWAY SEAL!" Rush stated with a salute before zooming off after the Gomamon. The Eosmon would try to grab the Gomamon and cover her mouth to keep her quiet as he attempted to drag her back towards Hana and Alvin's location while using his reflective wing panels to keep them hidden from the beachgoers on the other shore. "ALRIGHT, MISSY. I KNOW YOU WANT A PARTNER, BUT THIS IS NOT THE TIME OR PLACE TO GO EXPOSING THE EXISTENCE OF DIGIMON TO THE WHOLE WORLD. YOU DO NOT WANT THAT KIND OF ATTENTION."

It was worth trying, but Gomamon was in her favored terrain, and with a head start to boot. Rush still had the speed to catch up, but what he did not have was the element of surprise. Gomamon knew a high-level digimon was on her tail by sixth sense alone, and the small target's answer was to dive out of reach. She was not out of view, however, which is how Rush was able to see it when she flipped herself around to face upward, pulled down one eyelid with a claw, and stuck her tongue out at her pursuer before jetting off on an unnatural current (of Gomamon's own making, perhaps?).
In waters this clear, Rush did not lose sight of Gomamon even as she encroached on human swimmers. No one seemed to acknowledge the Eosmon himself, but someone's eyes locked onto Gomamon as her striking red mohawk spiked out of the water like an ominous dorsal fin. She'd drawn the attention of a careless 9-year-old boy who, going by the fact that he was alone (barring surrounding swimmers in their own little clusters), was either not being watched or wasn't supposed to be this far from shore. Well, he definitely learned his lesson when Gomamon crept up on him.
The boy yelped, then started backing off. The digimon would not be deterred. She started to pursue the boy more aggressively, at which point he'd go on to yell, "Sh-shark!" and turn to swim for his life back toward shore.
When Gomamon surfaced next to where the young boy had been treading water, she shouted after him, "Rude! I have a name, y'know!"
That didn't change much, except now there was a child screaming back toward shore, through a progressively dense crowd of humans, crying out with claims of a, "Talking shark!"

"... HUH. SO THIS IS WHAT IT MUST'VE FELT LIKE WHEN I WENT NUTS BACK IN YS. I REALLY OWE THOSE GUYS AN APOLOGY." Rush said, before he dove into the water to go after Gomamon once more. He was aerodynamic enough that the water didn't slow him down very much as he flew through the water towards the Gomamon. This time, he would use his Mirror Reflection ability so that he could use the clones to block Gomamon's way as the real Eosmon caught up with her to try grabbing her again. "OKAY, NOBODY WILL EVER WANT TO PARTNER WITH YOU IF YOU KEEP ACTING AGGRESSIVE LIKE THAT AND SCARING PEOPLE. YOU CAN'T FORCE A PARTNERSHIP."
Back on the opposite shore, Hana would turn away from the direction Rush sped off in in order to look at Alvin and his Devidramon partner. "Well, while Rush takes care of that, how do you wanna look for the portal? Are you okay if Data and I look in the water while you guys check out the beach?"
Mirror Reflection: Eosmon creates two mirror copies of itself that have little offensive presence and and last 2 posts unless hit (they shatter like glass when struck). 2 post cooldown. Duration: 0/2
