It was a calm night, in Whitewater; the moonlight casting down upon the quiet beaches, wherever it could peek through the gaps in heavy but otherwise dormant clouds. Though normally - even in the middle of the night - one might see tourists making their way along the sands or even having beach parties with bonfires burning long into the night, the clouds' portent for fast approaching rainy weather was more than enough to thin out the crowds; leaving the beaches mostly empty and serene…
“There they are..!”
... Did we say calm? No, no, these nights were not going to be anywhere near as calm as one would expect, for the few beach goers who were here despite the increasingly cloudy weather. Not when there was a trio of digimon in a wild goose chase across the sands - a lone, grinning Kobomon being chased after by a Grimon and a Dobermon. A chase that has been going on for a while, much to the Grimon's - Alexander's - chagrin.
For the past few weeks, there had been a certain 'haunting' going on in Whitewater - a ghostly digimon, causing mayhem wherever she went. Thankfully, no one had been seriously wounded or killed amidst all of this - but Alexander knew quite well that this was a nonetheless rambunctious - and perhaps even violent - ghost; the undead Kobomon having picked fights with other digimon, and even gotten others injured - including a human who had been wielding their blades at one point.
And it is for this reason, that Alexander, and his Dobermon companion - Barbara - would be attempting to hunt down this Kobomon; a ghost who is causing this much harm and mayhem amongst the living must be made to pass on, so that they can be judged by Anubismon. To allow this ghost to exist any longer only put other civilians at risk - and it was very well possible that even if no one has been killed or seriously wounded yet, that nothing was stopping this Kobomon from going too far...
... Now the only question was of actually catching the ghost.
And the Kobomon in question - going by the name of Scarlet - found a certain sense of excitement in the chase that she was going on. Oh, it certainly wasn't quite as fun as a good fight, but well... Scarlet knew quite well that absence only makes the heart grow fonder - and that on top of that, there wouldn't be much fun in an unbalanced 1 on 2! Clearly, she had to find someone else to get in on these shenanigans - perhaps a wielder, someplace somewhere...
It was really a shame that it had been getting harder and harder to find a good wielder, over the past few days. People seemed to be growing more and more aware of her presence and the influence she had over those who held her blades - and such folks had soon begun to shy away from her, wherever she went. It was only the newcomers that she could encourage into a good fight, nowadays; newcomers including...
... A pack of pups, trailing along the sands, off in the distance; the only thing making their presence apparent, being a number of glowing motes of light to light their way, as well as the sounds of their chatter. It was a sizable group, for sure - but plenty of humanoid canid digimon were there, prompting Scarlet's eyes to light up in joy. Perfect!
Glancing back at the Grimon and Dobermon who were still chasing after her, Scarlet could see that they were beginning to fall behind a little - tiring out, perhaps? Or otherwise losing track of her, as the gathering clouds continued to blot out the moonlight? It was hard to say what exactly - she was only a ghost, not a mind reader! - but it was nonetheless the opportunity she'd need, to slip away for a bit of fun...
Meanwhile though, the unsuspecting pack would be content to explore the water's edge. It had been Ettie's, Duchess', and Sirius' ideas to do so - with no one else here, there was nobody to make Anne feel nervous and on edge. And on top of that, it was fun to splash about in the water (or to outright swim about, in Aurien's case,) and try looking for seashells and the like without any competition to get in the way! "Hey, hey, look what I found!" Duchess would soon chirp, holding up the empty shell of what might've been the top of bottom half some oyster-like digital creature.
"Ooooh, it's all shiny on the inside..." Ettie would muse as she moved over to examine the shell; gently taking it, so that she could tilt it and admire how the light shone off of the pale yet pearlescent inner layer of the shell - a stark contrast to the otherwise dark and mottled outer layer. It was so pretty, her tail was wagging so happily over just being able to look at this little trinket; imagine how exciting it would be if they were able to find another!
Which, Sirius wasted no time in such - already having dug up what looked to be a cone shell of some sort, making a muffled little yip around it as he carried it over! Look at what he found - wasn't it so cool? He wanted to show it to everyone!
Adhara, meanwhile, couldn't help but sigh at this - gently nudging Sirius and reminding him "I don't think they can hear you past the shell, Sirius."
Oh, right; Sirius was perhaps a little sleepy right now - the only thing fueling him to keep going and to stay up being the excitement of getting to comb the beach with everyone else. Of course though, that was resulting in him being a little more absentminded than usual! With the reminder though, he would actually think to put the cone shell down - yipping to the others "I found a shell, too! What do you guys think?" with an eager yet hopeful wag of his tail. This was a good find, too, right?
Ruffian - who seemed to regard the two Plotmon siblings as almost like little brothers - was willing to humor Sirius on this; picking up the cone shell in his gloves to look it over. "Huhm. Looks pretty cool, I'd suppose." He'd say - glancing down past the shell to see the way that Sirius' tail would wag only harder. Jeez, it wasn't too hard to get the little Plotmon-X wound up, was it?
