Alright, no doing this in character this is going to be mostly a full write up on looking at a character I made six years ago.... Yeah even I didn't realize it had been six years since I first joined. When I first made Shi he definitely suffered from my lack of experience at this whole thing, DFRP was the first time I'd ever tried something like this and Shi was the first character who came to mind. Back then I was quite the introvert, pretty much scared to talk to anyone so a lot of that was reflected onto Shi and who he was. Back then I had only one clear goal for Shi to be, he was a quiet character, always one to get to the point of a situation and carry himself through ever situation never losing his cool and so far he's maintained that personality throughout the entirety of his time at DFRP.
Shi has suffered from lack of any clear goal for him to strive for, mostly just bouncing off other characters problems and assisting them where he can. Pretty much as Shi is now he has become a sort of helper when others don't have enough people to solve their problems. Due to the long time that Shi has been around and the fact that most of the characters he knew/interacted with are gone he has suffered a bit from that but that was just to be expected, not like I can come back after two years and easily slot back into everything.
I know quite a few people might say that it's a general problem that Shi doesn't like interactions when the site is mostly built upon interactions, I know quite a few threads open or otherwise I've had to leave because it would be out of character for Shi to do a few things but ultimately I feel like that's ok, That just makes the things Shi does stay around for a lot more important. When he does choose to talk to others, when he decides he needs to help that makes it a lot more important since he wouldn't normally do that. So I'm fine with him being an introvert still, I'm not going to change him to be more outgoing just for the sake of making things a bit easier, Shi is happy with the way he does things and if others don't like it he shouldn't have to change for them.
Lately I've been trying to build up more stuff for Shi to be around, getting more involved in missions and plots with him while also setting up stuff later like the new DNA partner he's going to have Yuya and the Mercenary that's going to be joining him while he straightens all that out. I still have to try to get Shi to at least talk to some of the more active people on the site but ultimately I'm not in that big of a rush to do any of that, best to go your own pace after all.
The one thing I will say I am proud of that Shi and his partners have developed overtime is their bond, the three of them cannot be separated at this point, Yuudai and Yasuo are like Shi's brothers now and are even a part of his family. While this might be counterproductive to the whole idea of the digimon series being about hiding stuff like that I like how I went about it, I do hope to try and get his family a bit more involved in stuff, even if it is just worrying about him with the digital world stuff.
With school stuff.... Just like real life school I have no idea what Shi should be doing! I've been putting it off but part of me thinks that might be another plot I might want to explore with him eventually but I don't know for sure, I usually have a hard time making plots with people but hey, that's just another thing that needs to change after all.
The one thing I want Shi to have going forward is his own pride, pride in being a human instead of just focusing on the digital world aspect. Pride in what he as a human can accomplish for his world and that world and realize that he contributes more then he thinks, even if he likes to remain silent. While I do like exploring the digital world, I love the concepts I feel like focusing on the human aspect shouldn't be ignored for Shi at least, while humans can tend to suck sometimes you just gotta be the better one at times.
Overall Shi is a quiet introvert who doesn't like talking to others, he'd rather just sit around alone and that hasn't changed much since he was created. He'll probably always be an introvert in a world of extroverts but I think that's okay, when I came back for a while I thought I had to change everything about the characters I was using to make them fit in but I don't have to do that, I have to be me and they have to be them. They're growing in their own way, I'll let the interactions develop them more then a set plan. That way just works better for me after all. (Not that I won't plan stuff just, not over plan it.) I love how characters can bounce off each other and develop one another through interactions and Shi is the bases on that, from becoming a hero thanks to Yuudai and Yasuo, from making wisecracks from his interactions with Maia and his want let his family know about the digital world he developed from saving his and Kaya's sister. Shi is built on interactions and I wouldn't have it any other way. Constantly evolving in a sense by gaining more through talking to others.
Though I guess this won't be complete unless I give a number that doesn't mean anything huh? At least probably Ari would considering they made the MPC prompt so here it is. I'll give Shi a 7/10, he's decent but there's room to improve. I'm not going anywhere anytime soon so I promise he'll improve a lot, just give him time.
