I feel like I should start this whole reviewing characters thing with one small line that will sum up a lot of what happened to Luna. That being that I never planned for her to become her own character around the start. Around the start when I made Luna she was just a Mercenary for my other character Dust, how the tables have turned now that he's a Mercenary for her though hopefully not for long. Originally I had planned on Luna just being a medic for Dust in combat, never doing that much interacting save for when he inability to find where she's going bumbles her into the plot.
Originally Luna was made with the personality in mind as a sorta opposite of Dust, he was quiet and thoughtful she was loud and wanted to be everyone's friends. Hell back when I apped for her I didn't even add a personality or history that's how bare bones she was supposed to be. Somewhere along the way though things just started to take a shift in a direction that I wasn't really ready for myself.
It was back when Luna was first starting around where I was doing a thread with Maia and their character mentioned something about Luna looking like Dust's girlfriend and internally I was just like. "Hey, that's a neat little idea." Then just slowly thread after thread everything started to lock more and more into place, I had a lot of fun writing their interactions even if it did sometimes feel really embarrassing to basically be setting up my own characters with one another at times but it seemed to work out well enough as it went on.
I found I had a lot more fun writing Luna and Dust then I did just Dust alone, the calm serious natured Impmon that had a soft spot for a Lunamon is slowly how it started going on, eventually reaching a sort of plateau where his overall plot didn't fully matter to him anymore. Dust still didn't have his memories but he was okay about it.... Then the gut punch of his memories came and socked him back into last week.
That's where we come to Luna now, from Mercenary with no history to full on character with the exact opposite personality of my main character and the character she was supposed to be supporting. Luna around my time of DFRP started taking on a life of her own as I just found I really liked using the character a lot, it was a lot of fun to have a bubbly yet serious when it mattered character who tried to be friends with everyone. Though it also probably had a bit to do with the fact that I couldn't access my old account hence why I decided to use Luna instead of Dust but I feel like it worked out for the best in this situation.
What I want for Luna going forward is to continue to carve out her own style her own life through her actions, I've already started this by having her open the clinic in Rosewood but I want her to keep moving forward alongside Dust. I have plans for Dust's old plot to come back and have the two of them forced to deal with it, most likely putting a strain on their relationship for a time but to come out stronger for it. Right now Dust is still her Mercenary but I have plans to have him go back to his own character with his own power once his plot goes through the endgame.
After that though I don't know what I'll do with Luna and Dust, it's hard to say and I don't have that much imagination on me at the moment but whatever they end up doing I'm sure it'll be great. I just want to make sure I don't rush anything, plot wise or anything with the two of them in general. Except maybe friendships.
How it will all end is definitely a lot more different then I originally planned, I had the whole thing planned out from start to finish on how it will go but everything has just changed. Maybe for the better maybe for worse I don't know yet, Just like Luna though my thoughts are starting to take a different path, I just hope it'll be a good one. That's all I can ever really hope for I guess.
Luna, started out as a Mercenary with no personality to her name, no history and no plans for anything greater then just being a healing bot for my main character Dust. Over the course of six years, three Hiatus and what can only be described as a crap ton of change on my part she has become her own character, her own doctor and a symbol of friendship in my meme eyes. I will always be the first to admit that I never planned for Luna to go anywhere, even her name was just the first thing that came to mind but from where she's standing now I'm happy, every time I get to use for anything I'm happy because I know first hand that she got here because I fell in love with writing her. I don't think I'll ever run out of muse for her or Dust.
But now it's the end of the MPC and I need to get at least 73 more words out so I can get paid for spilling my stupid heart out on a MPC that probably not many people will read. So with that in mind it's time for the scoring so I can appease everyone's want to be able to skip this and see where Luna ranks. I'll give her a 10/10, Luna is everyone's friend and she's pretty much fought her way to the top of my favorite character's I've made. Luna earned this chance to interact with everyone when she originally was planned for nothing.
