Misaki seemed to dismiss Clayton's apology, which the teen simply responded with a small laugh before nodding. Probably wasn't too much to really apologize for anyway. Making their way through a denser part of the forest it gave way to a rather large clearing with some, uhh. Well Clayton had to admit they were buildings just not the best looking buildings, they were large but even from a distance something seemed a bit off about them. Definitely didn't seem like it matched up with what Prairiemon said.
"Maidenbrook huh." CLayton listened in on what Sagittarimon had said, repeating the names to himself for a moment. "Goatmon and.... Toucanmon? Isn't a Toucan just a normal bird? And Goatmon just... Huh" Huh, these digimon names weren't as creative as he thought, so just keep an eye out for a Goat and a Toucan, should probably stand out easily enough. While Clayton finished his thinking that through he was about to thank Sagittarimon for showing them, but he was already off done with the three of them.
"Guess he's got places to be." Clayton said to no one in particular putting his hands in his pockets looking over at Misaki. He saw her bring out her own digivice with some sorta radar pointing in a direction, pointing in the direction it was she then started to walk over to it.
Clayton didn't hesitate for a moment before following after her, with a smile and a small laugh. "Digivice is showing ya something huh? Hope you don't mind if I tag along. Sounds way more interesting then finding a bed." It seemed like a mystery and that sounded like some fun, plus best to never split the party while you're in a new place, at least that sounded correct.

Clayton wanted to stick around more so than actually rest and relax, even though he looked like he could use the rest. Well... Misaki wasn't exactly the bossy type. She figured she could just finish up... whatever this little treasure hunt her Digivice was leading her towards, then go for a rest herself. But judging by the fancy sword-person on his back, he could probably take care of himself, so she tried not to worry too much about that aspect.
Instead, she wordlessly made her way towards the stone structure that was apparently the Maiden's Mausoleum. Now, Misaki wasn't sure what the appropriate polite actions to take to pay her respects to the dead before looting around a mausoleum for whatever her Digivice was aiming her towards, so she simply made a prayer gesture with her hands, made a polite bow, and headed up the steps to enter the stone structure.
"Stop right there!" A voice called out not even two steps up. And what was clearly a black-furred goat with a... a goatee... approached them with a furrowed brow. "You must not enter the Maiden's Mausoleum! It is dangerous for children, especially for humans! I'm afraid that you cannot enter without something to defend yourselves!"
Misaki tilted her head, and shrugged. Was she going to have to use her Spirit right now? She honestly didn't feel like it. And it was a little too tiring just to transform unnecessarily.
"The spirit of our Holy Mother, the founder of this village, resides within the Mausoleum! Only those that bear the armaments she possessed in her life, the blade to cut through impurities, and the shield to stave off the vile temptations of the world are fit to enter!"
So entering a person's resting place was totally okay, so long as they are equipped to do so? That was... definitely a little more than unusual for Misaki. And while she didn't have the equipment to go into battle in the 1500's, she did have friends she could rely on. So she simply pointed towards the sword on Clayton's back. Zu was a sword, so that counted, right?
And as for the shield... it took her a second to think, but she came up with a loophole! She dug into her belongings and pulled out a sticky note, scribbled the word "shield" onto it, and stuck it right onto Clayton's chest. She stood behind him, placed one hand onto the young man's shoulder, and offered a thumbs-up towards the Goatmon. Hopefully Clayton would play along. Unless he came up with a better idea. Because that would probably be better than Misaki's half-assed workaround!

Sure Clayton definitely could use a rest, that was definitely something that should've probably happened. Sadly though Clayton had his focus set on whatever that arrow thing was now, and his determination wouldn't let him let it go! Even if that probably wasn't to his benefit that was just the kinda teen Clayton was. He then followed also wordlessly, mostly because he couldn't think of what to talk about that didn't relate to the whole looking for something thing. He assumed she was a spirit tamer. Clayton just hoped that this wasn't like his spirit or else they'd be in for a fight.
However that lead them to a mausoleum it seemed, wait were they going to go grave robbing? Well considering it might be a spirit that would want to go with the human technically it wasn't? Before Clayton could weigh the moral pros and cons of doing something like this he noticed Mitsaki make a prayer gesture and bow, he decided to follow suit not really sure about this whole situation.
Before they could commence in the jolly sport of graverobbing some Goat rocking a Goatee made themselves known. Mentioning it wasn't safe for kids and they needed something to defend themselves. Instantly Clayton punched his open palm with his fist, he had something to defend himself with, these hands!
Oh apparently that won't work, only a sword and a shield would work. Well this was a fine pickle now wasn't it. How were they going to get a sword and.... Oh wait. "I got one of those down, A Legend-arms should be more then enough to cut any, impurities?" as Mitsaki pointed at the sword Clayton reached for it, spinning Zu in the air for a moment before holding it upward. "I mean it's how Zu always describes herself so, maybe?" Clayton mentioned as an aside, after all the goat mentioned they needed her armaments' if she didn't have a legend arms were they Sol?
Though a shield was also another problem, Clayton didn't have on of those..... Yeah he had nothing on hand. He was already providing the sword what else? Meanwhile as the teen wondered what to bring out he felt something slap his chest, looking down he saw a hastily scribbled shield on his chest near his pins. "Uhh, ah. Yeah! No er vile temptations can get by me or my friends while I'm standing!" That was probably a lie but he sounded sincere. "So you can let us past, no worries about it! We She's got both a sword and a shield." Just in one neat little package, Clayton had no idea if this would work or not but he was quite literally out of any ideas.

Despite Clayton's full support of Misaki's half-assed idea, the goateed-goat stared at the youths blankly for a long minute without speaking. There was something in there, and she was going to get in, even if it meant she had to sneak in during the dead of night. But she would much rather get the local's approval. The fact that it might be dangerous didn't even seem to occur to the young woman.
Then Goatmon finally spoke up. "Very well! If you are equipped, then I have no right to stop you! Seek out the Holy Mother's guidance and wisdom, and remain vigilant! Good luck to you travelers! And if... erm... when you return, do not forget to stop by the gift shop and pick up some souvenirs you can only find in Maidenbrook! Especially in those dinky towns like Rosewood, and Rustport!" He nodded his approval towards them, then went off his own merry way.
Welp, it was time to finally find out what was behind these... large doors. Misaki pushed on the doors, but they barely budged. Well... this was awkward. She took in a deep breath, and then pushed with all of her might. Hopefully, with Clayton's help, the two could get these bloody heavy doors open! Misaki imagined that a Digimon could push through these doors with little to no issue, so it was her fault for being a puny human, she supposed.
They entered into a dark room, and Misaki immediately reached out for the light from her Digivice, the handy little bugger. There wasn't too much of interest. Mostly just paintings of some woman with angel wings, a sword and shield, and armor that covered... very few spaces. Which meant that she must have been pretty good with that sword and shield. Either that, or that was why she was in this mausoleum in the first place. Welp, whether she was good in a fight or not, at least she looked good while doing it!
The room itself was fairly small, but there was a small trapdoor on the floor that lifted up to reveal a ladder underneath. She looked over to Clayton, nodded, and began to head down. Thankfully, it didn't even lead that far down, maybe fifteen, twenty feet or so. But Misaki and Clayton would find themselves fully underground, where a life-sized statue of the same woman from the paintings stood before them. On the statue's base were two crumbled piles of stone, one roughly in the shape of a sword, the other a shield.
But in the statue's hands were a completely different set of sword and board. The blade a deep blue, and the shield a crimson hue. But before Misaki could even piece together what it all meant, her Digivice began to let out a bright light and the statue began to crumble apart!
And where the statue of the woman was replaced by a spectral image of the same woman. She didn't speak, but simply stood there, staring at the newcomers, gave them a nod, then raised her weapons. This ghostly apparition seemed ready to do battle, with its very-physical looking sword and shield.
But... Misaki knew that this spectral being reacted to her D-Tector. So maybe that meant... She had to try! So Misaki wound up a swing, then chucked her Digivice at the spectral woman with all her strength... only for the being to raise her shield up. Her Digivice bounced off the red shield, and clattered off into the darkness somewhere.
She... probably should have expected that to happen.

Clayton stood in his pose for a few seconds, then longer. Then just a bit longer. The more and more time it took for the Goat to say something the less and less confidant Clayton got about this actually working. He didn't even think he took a breath within those moments but sure enough the Goatmon responded with an actual acceptance of them going in there, much to his surprise considering the plan at hand. Breathing a sigh of relief Clayton let his hands drop, the sword lightly tapping the ground as he exhaled.
But what they said did kinda sorta worry Clayton a bit. "Wait what was?" But before he could ask the Goatmon was already on his merry way towards the town they left behind. "I'm uhh, sure there's nothing to be worried about." Surely this could only end well... Right?
Coming up on the large stone doors Clayton joined Mitsaki in pushing them, throwing his weight against them trying to push the heavy doors open. "No consideration for a human entrance huh." Thankfully the doors seemed to give letting the duo enter into the building. It was way darker then Clayton had anticipated, even the light from outside didn't seem to do much to really show them the way.
The teen reached into his pocket and pulled out his own digivice so he wouldn't stumble in the darkness himself. Checking around the room seemed fairly small, just a buncha paintings of some women. "Guess that must be the Maiden." Seemed pretty obvious by the paintings of her littered around the place.
Before long they seemed to found a trap door, Clayton nodded to Misaki waiting for her to descend the latter before following down himself. Didn't seem to be much save for a large statue that looked like the paintings they had walked past, walking over Clayton took a good look at both sets of the sword and shield, well one set and a pile of rocks that looked like another. Before he could get a good look at them though a bright light blinded him for a few moments, backing off Clayton blinked a few times to get his sight back.
What he wasn't prepared for was a ghost version of the same statue looking at the two of them with a sword and shield drawn. Clayton almost on instinct pulled Zu out holding her up against the strange spirit, noticing Misaki winding up a swing he was wondering if she was going to use it to spirit evolve...
When she instead decided to chuck it at the apparition who deflected it easily. Clayton looked at Misaki for a moment before shaking his head and pushing his digivice into her hand. "Should probably go get that, don't worry I'll cover you." Hopefully the light from his digivice would be enough to find her own, taking a step in front of her Clayton raised Zu up defensively, he might not of been able to deal damage with the sword but he could deflect attacks with it!

Hmm... so apparently throwing the thing that lets to turn into a Digimon and able to fight other Digimon was a bad idea. Probably wasn't the best plan, in hindsight. But things would be alright. Probably. Clayton was her shield that also had a sword, so it was basically the same thing. He would be able to defend the ghost's next attack, then Misaki would take the opportunity to run into the darkness and grab her Digivice. She just needed to wait for this specter to make her move and then...
Misaki waited... and waited... for about a full minute, but the ghost lady didn't move. She still stood at attention, but didn't act aggressively. So... maybe Misaki would be able to just go over there and pick it up? So she took a blatant step forward, only for the ghost to swing towards her with the blade as soon as she got in range! Misaki jumped backwards just in time, her heart feeling like it was going to explode and come out of her ears.
Okay... walking forward was a bad idea. But at the same time, the ghost lady didn't seem like it was going to attack so long as they stayed away. And it seemed to defend with her shield whenever something came straight for her. She looked over towards Clayton. Did he have any ideas? As she clutched her rumbling stomach, she thought she might have a hare-brained plan, but if he had any ideas, she was more than willing to give them a try.

Clayton was standing ready and able to take this ghost on, so he stood there waiting, Then waiting, Also waiting some more for good measure. Clayton raised an eyebrow as he lowered his sword, yet it still didn't seem to take a swing at him. Which was definitely very odd. Eventually Mitsaki tried to take a step forward towards the ghost lady, to which they decided to now take a swing which caused Clayton's heart to leap out of his chest as she backed up, eyes wide he took a deep breath and calmed down.
"Alright so she only attacks when we're close. I, I think this is puppy guarding?" He hasn't had to deal with that since he was like 7, even still he was definitely sure that Kent was cheating by doing that, the jerk. But Kent's jerkiness aside they really needed to figure out what to do. Which Clayton had a pretty dumb idea, not as dumb as throwing your digivice at it but still pretty dumb.
"Alright so, this might be a bad idea but on the count of three go try and grab your digivice." Clayton reached into his pocket and pulled out a deck of playing cards. "I'll toss this at them, make em block it then attack with the sword. She'll probably try and deflect the attack giving you a moment to grab it." Clayton sounded confidant, but if she could see his face in the darkness he didn't seem too sure. "Unless you have a better idea, cause I sure don't!"
If Misaki agreed to his idea or just didn't have a better one Clayton would start the count. "1.... 2..... 3!" With that he'd throw the deck of cards at the ghost lady before attacking her with Zu hoping to catch her blade with his own into a blade lock

Welp, it seemed like Clayton was thinking along the same lines as Misaki was. She was gonna use her lunchbox, but it seemed like Clayton was willing to part with something instead. He propelled his plain, playtime projectile as it powered through the air and... and straight into the ghost's shield. She simply bat it aside, but her shield moved enough for Misaki to take a step forward. This triggered the ghost's sword swing, but it was something that Clayton, despite his human body and relative ease and successfully deflect the blow with his sleeping companion, Zu. But instead of locking blades, the blue sword flew upwards, as if there weren't any force behind the strike. Probably something to do with the swordswoman being a ghost. Not a whole lot of digital muscle or leverage for a ghost to utilize.
Still, Misaki tumbled across the floor for no particular reason other than she thought it would look cool. Not that anyone was paying attention to her. Clayton was likely too busy trying not to get stabbed at the moment. She managed to get besides her Digivice in a kneeling position, grasped it, then spun around to face her assailant. Well... assailant was probably the wrong word to use. Technically she and Clayton were the ones intruding.
So Misaki grasped her Digivice, then spun around to face the being that was rightfully defending her property, despite being dead. She noticed the specter was off balance from Clayton's defense, so she took the opportunity to charge forward, using her kneeling position to take off like a track star, then thrust her Digivice into the spectral being's ghostly torso.
And shockingly, the Digivice went inside the ghostly being without any issue at all. The Digivice let out a bright light that consumed the spectral woman, turning her into a glowing effigy of pure light. And by pure instinct, Misaki stepped forward, until the glowing specter's form completely overlapped with her own.
And when the light faded away, the only thing that stood there was a not-so spectral visage of the Holy Mother, a Darcmon garbed in pink and blue. And it was as if Misaki was looking through eyes not her own. Clayton seemed to be a little shorter now. And the armaments she wielded, the blue sword and red shield, clattered harmlessly to the ground.
Misaki looking over to Clayton with a curious gaze. She didn't exactly have a mirror, so she was wondering what he was seeing. She was feeling a weight near her shoulders from an area that she wasn't quite used to, and she somehow knew that it was from the wings on her back. She could see the armor on her limbs, and for the rest of her clothing... well... suffice to say, she could feel a draft in this cold, dark crypt.
But even so, she gave Clayton a sly smile and a triumphant thumbs-up. Thanks to her Digivice, it looked like she had assumed the form of the ghost lady. And she could already feel the power surging through her. It was like being a pre-teen, then going through puberty all at once. Well... she supposed the next time her Digivice led her to something, she should go there as well!
And as for the discarded shield and sword? The most curious thing happened. Their forms suddenly shimmered, and in their place, were two small, nearly-identical children, both with a sea-green hue of hair. That had meant that Misaki and Clayton had essentially robbed a grave, then bullied a pair of children to the point of unconsciousness.
Hmm. Misaki would have to process that later. Because Clayton might have something to say about this situation.

Clayton had to admit, he had no idea if this plan was going to work or if it was going to end up with him getting stabbed or something. But as the saying goes nothing ventured nothing gained. Well technically he wasn't gaining anything from this exchange more so losing something but those thoughts seem to quickly vanish from his mind as he threw his deck of cards for an extreme game of 52 pick up, it was quite surprising when the sword seemed to just bounce off Zu without much issue, almost like there wasn't any real force behind the blow. Though a moments thought made him think that made sense, after all it was a ghost so they probably could've just used a backpack or something and had a similar result! Much less a legendary sword.
Clayton thought about going on the offensive but then realized that much just be moot at this point, they didn't have a sword and Clayton didn't think that actually hitting the ghost would do much considering it was a ghost. He wasn't an expert on ghosts or anything but watching ghost busters let him know that he didn't have any of the tools necessary to solve this problem. "What is that noise, I was trying to sleep." A voice suddenly came from the sword he was holding, it sounded pretty annoyed.
"Oh Zu, you're finally awake. Took you long enough." Clayton held the sword up slightly towards his head.
"How could I not with that infernal banging, what are you slamming my blade against whilst unconscious?" The sword digimon questioned given that the blade was completely dull in the humans hands. Glancing up Clayton managed to catch the tail end of what Misaki had managed to do, walking into a bright light that really hurt his eyes given he was just staring at the darkness for a while. Holding his hand up eventually the light faded and Clayton was able to look at the figure that stood where the ghost once did.
There now stood the ghost but in a more alive format, Clayton saw the smile and the thumbs up they gave him so it was pretty safe to assume this was Misaki, Clayton gave his own smile and thumbs up. "Awesome job Misaki, guess that's a spirit in the bag!" That went a lot better then his hunts seemed to go.
"So while aiming to gain your own spirit, you instead decided to assist another human in getting their own?" His blade asked wondering if she got that right.
"C'mon Zu lay off, it just kinda happened this way. Plus it was fun, at least in a more dangerous sorta way." Which was still a form of fun, if a very deadly version of fun at the very least.
But as he finished giving his thumbs up to Misaki he looked for the discarded weaponry, after all it looks interesting to a sorta weapon nut like him. glancing over where the discarded sword and shield were seemed to be two little kids instead of cool looking weapons! "Huh, what?" Clayton was very confused as he went over to the fallen kids shaking one of them. "H-hey, are you okay?" Please don't tell him that was actually just these kids spirit evolution they just beat up or usurped or something. Did it even work like that? Clayton had no idea there were two kids on the ground, more pressing matters at hand!

Welp, that was all certainly a thing that happened. Misaki and Clayton had fought off a ghost, Misaki had become the ghost but a living person now. And Clayton had a sword that talked. Also, the ghost's weapons had turned into two kids. So that was weird. Well, the kids would wait. Because now that she was Darcmon, she had a sword of her own. She held it up to her ear and listened the best she could. Nope. Nothing but dead silence.
And when Clayton tried to shake one of the children, things began to go back in motion. The child, a little girl, slowly stirred, opening her eyes and the first thing she saw was a young man with a sword grabbing her. Her eyes widened in a panic as she suddenly kicked Clayton in the shins, then scrambled away the best she could... right in the corner of the room where she began to cower in fear. And without thinking, Misaki approached the child, gently placing her hand on her head.
For some reason, she felt this urge to protect these children. Which was odd, since Misaki didn't particularly care for children, having very recently been one herself. Was this the lingering will of the spirit she now possessed? She supposed it wasn't called the Holy Mother for nothing. Still... no matter how hard she tried, and despite being in an entirely different body than her own, Misaki couldn't get a sound to come from her mouth. So all she could to was pull the child into a hug, until she stopped shivering. Then, she lifted the little girl with one arm, reached for the still-sleeping little boy and picked him up as well.
Misaki didn't have any idea where they came from, or why they were here, but she imagined that leaving them all alone in this dark crypt wasn't a possibility. So she smiled over to Clayton and Zu, then proceeded to exit this dark place.
Which was something of a surprise to the Goatmon, who just watched someone who was supposed to be dead walk out with a couple of kids in her arms. By the time Clayton got out, he'd no doubt find him still with his jaw hanging.

Clayton was pretty worried about the little kid, maybe he could've been a bit more tactful about it but hey it was a passed out kid in the middle of what he assumed was a grave that had just been a sword. Pretty sure anything that wasn't panic and worry about the situation would be counted as weird. Luckily the kid started to open their eyes. "Oh good, are you oka- Ughh." Before he could finish he felt a sharp kick right to his shins causing the teen to buckle over. "Oww, darn. What was that for?" He was already still a bit hurt from the fight with his own spirit, now a kick to the shins?
"Maybe next time Clayton you shouldn't grasp and shake a child while visible armed." Zu said sounding a bit disappointed. "Getting taken down by a kid?" Before she could finish though Clayton had gotten up throwing the sword in the air.
"Not another word Zu." As he said that the Zubamon switched back to her digimon form landing next to the teen. Thankfully while he had recovered it seemed Misaki had managed to calm the kid down. "Hey, sorry about scaring you." Clayton figured he should apologize real quick, he didn't mean to be scary. Most of the time.
With a smile Misaki left the dark place followed quickly after by Clayton and Zu, by the time the two of them got out they saw the Goatmon with his jaw hanging looking at Misaki. "Heya, looks like we did return. Turns out I made a pretty good shield after all."
"I was wondering what the note on your chest was about." Well it worked out in the end so complaining about it was going to get them nowhere.

As they made their way out, and Clayton recovered from his grievous injuries, things finally seemed to settle down. Well, Goatmon still seemed rather shocked, but Misaki figured she could ignore him for now. She smiled over to Clayton and a now Digimon-form Zu.
And Clayton's apology seemed to be bashfully accepted by the little girl, as she gave him a blank stare for an uncomfortable amount of time, gave him a subtle nod of acceptance, and then looked away. And when she gave a look to his Zubamon companion, she gave a small smile of recognition as well. Legend-Arms gang for life, yo.
Misaki smiled to Clayton's statement, nodding during his proclamation of being a worthy shield. She leaned over to scribble on the note on his chest, writing out, "The best shield! Any time you need a shield yourself, don't hesitate to call!" She also left whatever contact information was required for people to communicate over the tamernet. That part was kind of unclear, but ultimately not very important.
But now she had a pair of children to kidnap, and while she wasn't sure what exactly was going on here and what their situation was about, maybe holing them up in the same town that left them in some crypt for such a long time might not be the most thoughtful thing in the world. Plus, Misaki had a brand new set of wings on her back, which she absolutely had to test out.
So with another smile and wink, she gave her farewells to Clayton and took off to the skies, children in arms.
And to top things off, she still hadn't had anything to eat today.

Well as Clayton said sorry the girl look at him, then looked at him a bit more. Then a bit more till finally Clayton was starting to feel a bit uncomfortable at the staring, letting an awkward cough escape as he rubbed the back of his head wondering if he should say anything else. However eventually the girl nodded and even seemed to smile at either him or Zu, probably Zu but still it was much better then the kicking.
Then Misaki seemed to lean over and start writing something on the note, looking at it after it seemed to be the non-descript contact information for that weird tamernet thing he had only looked at for a bit, giving a smile and a thumbs up Clayton gave his own non-descript contact information for that. "Course, you'll be the first one I call." Seems this trip was worth it in the end, more so for her then him but Clayton was happy to help out where he could.
Waving Misaki goodbye Clayton decided to ignore the and start walking forward, hands in his pockets followed by Zu. "So, are we going to try to get your spirit again?" She asked but noticed a different look in his eyes.
"Nah, these things can be found all over it seems. So lets get going! We'll find a spirit that sends that smug ghost packing!" Clayton raised his fist in the air, with a shrug from Zu it wasn't the most triumphant but he was now more resolved to move forward and get his own, can't be lagging behind after all!
