MPC 52C: Sick Leave
I would like posts for this MPC please.
It had started with a small headache, a general malaise, and a light cough one day as Bezil the Gumdramon was going about his duties in the grand ancient city of Ys within the renown Shining Sea of the digital world. But Bezil knew it was likely going to be worse than that. A nasty bout of digi-influenza had been passing through the city at this time. It had already afflicted his younger brothers Matty and Jimmy, as well as his grandfather Sten, but thankfully it was not a particularly dangerous strain of the disease.
According to his big brother Haku the SamoyedGaomon, the doctor of the family, there was little that could be done to cure it, other than the passage of time, along with bedrest and care. However, Bezil knew that under no circumstances were they to risk his little sister Persephone from catching the disease, given that she might suffer much worse from it than others, so anyone who was showing symptoms had to isolate and have as few contacts with others as possible. And that included himself once he suspected that he had it.
It wouldn’t be so bad, he assured himself. After all, grandpa Sten had looked after Matty and Jimmy when they were sick, and they in turn looked after him when he was sick, and now Sten was almost well enough to be free of the disease. According to Haku, the worst of it was a fever, as well as a cough, but with enough liquids, bed-rest and good spirits, most digimon could throw off the sickness after a few days.
At least, that was the day before. The next day, Bezil could barely stand. He had a heavy cough, his temperature was triple digits on the Fahrenheit scale, and his whole body was aching. After a brief consultation from Haku (who came prepared with personal protection to prevent himself from being infected too), he too was diagnosed with the disease that was plaguing Ys.
This fact would lay heavy on Ys for the time being. For one thing, Bezil was a prince-regent here, along with his sister Fuu, and this meant that a lot of responsibilities would be laid at her feet now. Not only for Ys, but for all of KIZNA too. But thankfully there was contingencies for this sort of thing.
For one, Bezil’s father Owen was happy to temporarily fill-in and assist his daughter Fuu with whatever needed to be done while he was recovering. And furthermore, it wasn’t like Bezil was completely cut off from communications. He could still send and receive messages from them through his D-NexT. Still though, the thought of being alone while he fought off this fever wasn’t a pleasant one. At first he held off, but, as the feeling of misery grew from his sickness, the terrible aching he had when having to cross the room of his princely chambers and pour his own water from the bathroom sink, he could bear it no longer. And furthermore, what would his boyfriend think if he knew he was going through all this alone without telling him? Bezil had to say.
So, the Gumdramon reached for his D-NexT, and wrote a message to his dearest boyfriend, Gummy.
”Heya, Gummy.
I’m feeling a bit sick with digi-influenza at the moment. My brother Haku said I should be fine with some bed-rest after a few days. Until then, I can’t leave my room until I’m better.
You can visit me if you want, but just letting you know that if you do, it’s likely that you’ll get sick too. If not, that’s totally fine, happy to chat with you over Tamernet in the meantime.
Lots of love, Bez-Bez.”
He then set his device down, awaiting the reply.

I would like posts as well, please
A sense of worriedness froze Gummy in place as he looked at the message that popped up on Vergil’s D-Terminal. Bezil...his Bezil sick? That’s impossible. His boyfriend was one of the toughest Digimon he’d ever known. There’s no way that a little sickness would leave him too weak to move from his bed. However this was digi-influenza; it was very much like the biological version of it from the human world. The Gumdramon’s fingers began to shake as he struggled to reply back. “If he can’t even leave his room, then he must be really sick.” He shook off the thought. Gummy clenched his fist and stood tall. “Whatever the case, Bez-Bez needs me, and I’m not gonna leave him in that room all by himself!” Besides, Bezil would drop everything and do the same if he ever got sick. And luckily for him, Gummy was already in the Digital World—near the City of Y’s especially—so the journey there would take a little hoof. Flapping his wings, he soared into the sky and eventually into the city proper, typing a message to his beloved boyfriend. “Yo, Bezil.”
“That sounds awful! I’m on my way. No sickness is going to keep us apart. That’s for damn sure!
I’m in the Digital World right now, so judging from where I’m at, it should take me at least fifteen to twenty minutes, so sit tight.”
Love, Gum-Gum
As he passed through the barrier around the city and landed, he found that there weren't a whole lot of townsfolk out and about, which was extremely odd. This digi-flu must be spreading like wildfire, and if Gummy wasn’t careful enough, he’d get it too. So before going to Bezil’s, Gummy stopped at a few places, getting a face mask for himself, some medicine, a few cans of chicken noodle soup, and orange juice—all put on Vergil’s tab. Not that he wouldn't mind, since he barely used the Bits he had earned to begin with. But if he did find out, he would understand. Now with a care package around his waist and with a little bit of protection, Gummy made his way to the palace as fast as he could . Reaching to Bezil’s corridors, he’d knock on his door first before entering, and by entering, he would kick the door open, but not too hard that would cause the door hinges to break. “Bezil, are you ok?!” he blurted out loudly. Seeing his strong boyfriend bed-ridden send knots in his stomach, yet remained strong for him. “I’m sorry it took so long for me to get here. I had to make a few stops along the way. How are you feeling? Do you need something in your system?”

Bezil’s yellow eyes widened as he saw that Gummy was on his way, so quickly too. He smiled, trying to stifle his cough. A little pointlessly, given that anyone without protective gear that entered this room would likely catch it too. But if Gummy was willing to do this for him, knowing the risks, then Bezil would be very grateful.
After all, he knew from second-hand experience, seeing his parents, digimon that loved each other did this sort of thing all the time.
While he was waiting, Bezil consulted with Owen and Fuu about the situation in the city. Most unfortunately, the “Shining Sea Fever” as it was known had spread about the city, but thankfully most of the digimon here were being sensible about it. Gatherings were few and far between, soap and sanitizer was readily available, among other gear. Furthermore, Bixby was busy in the lab trying to do some research on the disease, looking for a cure. Apparently he was making good progress at that.
Still, that wasn’t much help for Bezil in the immediate moment. What was though when Gummy entered his room, completely prepared.
“Heya, Gummy.” Bezil said in a bit of a croaky voice. “I’m mostly fine, just a fever and a cough. I can walk around if I need to, just Haku said I’ll get better quicker if I stay in bed.”
He had also taken a dose of painkillers for the muscle aches. They blocked out the background pain, but weren’t enough to make it not hurt when he walked.
Gummy asked if he needed anything. “Ah yeah… could you please get me a jug of fresh water? I need to keep my fluids up.” The tapwater from the bathroom wasn’t very good compared to fresh water running from the glacial springs that ran down from the hills behind Ys. Bezil would have got that normally, but that would involve leaving the room and possibly infecting others in the palace.
Once that was settled, Bezil felt so happy to have Gummy here to look after him now. He didn’t feel ashamed or embarrassed about it at all, just he pondered what they could do to pass the time. After all, that was all that could be done for his fever for the moment. Oh, and another thing, just in case. “While Haku doesn’t think this sickness is life-threatening, if I get worse, could you get my brother Haku here as soon as you can?”
Bezil would feel glad to have this contingency in place. “So then, Gummy, anything you feel like doing? No contact involved, don't want you to catch these cooties eheh…” he coughed from that chuckle, but still went on. “Matty set up a gaming and streaming service on the TV over there yesterday.” he pointed to the currently blank monitor opposite the bed. “He just recovered from the fever so he’s all clean. Just now that you’re here, we could watch or play something together?”
Yeah, that sounded like a nice thing they could do while they waited for the fever to pass. Bezil was down for whatever Gummy felt like.

Gummy slightly winced upon hearing Bezil’s hoarse voice. So this is what it’s like having the digi-flu, being bed-ridden, barely able to move, with no one to keep you company in fear of getting sick as well. It was an awful experience all around. But thanks to the mask and the usual goggles he wore, he felt more secure being around his sick boyfriend. All he had to worry about was making sure he washed his hands frequently. “Yep, he’s right about one thing,” Gummy began, “that fever won’t go down unless you stay in bed. But you can relax more easily now, Bezil, for Temporary Doctor Gummy the Gumdramon is here to help ya! Now all I need is a doctor’s coat and I’ll definitely look the part.”Bezil asked for some fresh water. Gummy nodded, took the jug that was on his nightstand using a paper towel, and went outside, going to hills where the glacial springs were at. He remembered that the water in Bezil’s bathroom didn’t exactly taste the best, which was a bit surprising since Y’s is an academia city, so he’d assumed that their water would be too-notched. Guess a perfect utopia like Y’s will have its faults somewhere. Reaching the springs, Gummy was amazed at how beautiful it looked, how the glacial waterfall in-between the ice mass cascaded into the large pond. Flapping his wings, Gummy hovered near the waterfall, trying his best not to get wet as the jug filled up slowly. Once that was done, Gummy raced back to the Sanctuarium and into Bezil’s room. “Did somebody order one jug of fresh water from the glacial springs?” Gummy announced, placing it down on Bezil’s nightstand. He didn’t mind racing around for his boyfriend’s needs. That’s what he’s here for: to take care of him. “Nonsense, you won’t need Haku with me around,” Gummy said proudly. “I have all the things you’ll need: soup for when your fever goes down, orange juice, oh, and some medication to help with your fever. That reminds me...here you go.”Going into his bag, Gummy took out two pills for Bezil to take to bring his fever down. He gave them to him. “Make sure you take two every six hours. According to the instructions on the back , if everything goes well, your fever should go away later tonight or tomorrow.”Once that was done, what should they do now? Bezil explained that Matty had set up a gaming and streaming service on his TV, in which Gummy was well-acquainted with both thanks to his time in the human world. “Aw, awesome! Let’s play a game together! It’s been a while since I’ve exercised these thumbs.”“...And for the record, I’d catch your cooties anyday, but only when you're healthy and not sick, hehe.” Gummy jested. It was hard to see with his mask on, but he was grinning from ear-to-ear.

Initially, Bezil was a little unsure as to how sound Gummy’s treatment would be, especially since Haku had actually trained to be a doctor and as far as he knew, Gummy did not, but as his Gumdramon boyfriend spoke his credentials, Bezil felt confident that he’d be safe under his superivison.
For the first thing, Gummy took his complaint about the bathroom water quality seriously, and Bezil really appreciated that, because it was pretty much the case that in his sick condition, drinking bathroom water just felt awful. And drinking water direct from the springs above Ys just tasted and felt so much better, that made him feel so much healthier. It was probably all the gathered-up lining of the pipes that made the water from the bathroom taste so awful. But, Bezil now had a jug of the best water available in the area for now, and for that he was grateful.
Then, after Gummy returned, he assured him that he would not need Haku’s assistance now that he was there. It was mainly the way he said it that made Bezil overtly confident that he would need no other care other than that of his boyfriend. After all, why wouldn’t he? Matty, Jimmy and Sten had gone through this same fever, and so far for him, it had been more of an inconvenience than an actual hazard. And futherly thankful was the fact that Ys as a whole had locked down to prevent such instances of cross-contamination.
Gummy declared that Haku wasn’t needed in this situation once he returned with the jug of Glacial Ys Water. Initiallly Bezil might have contested that, but he agreed on that matter, it would be best if Haku would have as little contact with infected patients as possible.
So for the time being, Bezil took his treatment from Gummy, appreciating the care his boyfriend had for him. And best of all, Gummy seemed to be happy to want to play video games with him while he was recovering. Gummy then made a remark about not minding catching cooties after this disease was done with, and Bezil very much appreciated that. “Oh you can count on that, babe, I’d be all up for that.” the Gumdramon said with a wink, but of course he had to keep that part quiet for the time being.

After Gummy came back with a jug of fresh glacial water from the springs, he couldn't help but puff his chest up in pride. No way his boyfriend was going to tolerate drinking nasty sink water. It probably would make his sore throat much worse if he’d continued to do so. But now, Bezil had some tasty and refreshing water at his side, and if he runs out, he’ll run out back and get some more. With Bezil’s remark, Gummy couldn’t help but chuckle in response. Oh, even while sick, his flirtatious attitude still remained, which is something that the Gumdramon absolutely adored. But of course, that’ll be reserved for when Bezil gets better, so for now, it was time to relax and spend some quality time with his boyfriend. Taking the remote from Bezil’s nightstand, Gummy switched the channel input on the TV to HDMI-2 and browsed the list of video games that were on display. “Holy crap, you weren’t kidding when you said Matty set up a gaming service; there’s so many to choose from. I feel like we could be here all day.”This was way more impressive than the list of games on Vergil’s computer, and he had an extended hard drive to store in his games. Whereas humans can create, Digimon can innovate to limitless degrees. “So, what kind of games do you usually play, Bezil,” he asked. “Since we’re playing co-op, we should list down some games that have it. Maybe games that are fun and relaxing that won’t have you tearing your fur off in frustration. Hmmmm...” He scrolled down some more . “Oh! How about Super Smash Bros. Ultimate? We can be in a team facing the CPU, or we can face off against each other. It’ll be just like sparing, but with our thumbs instead of our fists and tails.”

In the time it took for Gummy to fetch the water, Bezil thought it would be best to wear a face covering himself. At least that would limit the spread of whatever bits of digi-flu he coughed out, and who knows? Maybe Gummy wouldn’t suffer from it after all? He didn’t want his boyfriend to suffer from this, even if he had told him from the message that it would be a risk.
The furred Gumdramon was happy to see him return with a full jug of water from the fresh springs. Of course, water was pumped around the buildings of Ys with their recently added plumbing systems, but it could never beat water fresh from the springs in terms of freshness.
Also, to prevent further infection, Bezil had asked his grandpa Sten to put up some transparent plastic curtains so that he couldn’t pass any infectious coughs through it either, so as long as Gummy stayed on the other side, hopefully he’d be fine.
Bezil chuckled (and coughed) at Gummy’s statement about the amount of games available. “Well, I’ll be here all day at least, and I’d be happy to play this stuff with you.” he said.
Gummy asked what games he normally played. Bezil would normally play patient RPG’s if he wanted to play out a story, or puzzle games if he wanted a quick challenge, but co-op? He hadn’t played much of that.
“I’ve played a little bit of that game, but I’m not very good at it.” he admitted when Gummy suggested Super Smash Bros. “But, I’ve got the time to learn.” he grinned. “Let’s start with co-op, then go against each other.”
Bezil felt so grateful to have Gummy here at this time. He thought at the start it would suck, but, now with his boyfriend here, he thought things would turn out just fine. All he needed to do was ride out the disease and all would be fine.
But in the time that followed, it would be his dreams that would be the worst part, yet the most significant. Bezil had been told by several in his families that fever dreams could be very intense and disorientating, but at the very least, they couldn’t hurt him. And Bezil felt safe with Gummy here.
