Honestly it wasn’t a surprise to either of them that this was how things turned out. Or at the very least how it was going; with their lives being one mess after another it was nice to be able to just sit back and discuss things. Silence considered what mikemon said and gave a nod of her head before taking another bite of her food.
”He’s used to doing stuff on his own, maybe he’ll loosen up or eventually realize that this is how family works.”
Her eyes fell down to the metal arm and she’d frown after a few long moments. She’d reach to run a finger along the unfeeling metal and couldn’t help but wonder if she had done the right thing back then. Fighting so hard just to end up with more of it in her.
”Well we can’t find out till I try it. I’m sure iko will be in for a surprise just as much as I am!”
The shutmon shared a laugh with mikemon and settled into munching on her food; enjoying his company quite a bit and even going so far as to give the cat a squeeze with her non metal hand. It felt a little awkward but… it would for a while!
”Not so much them as the other townsfolk. Can you say that she’d be welcome out around town? Wouldn’t be too fair for her to to be cooped up in here.”
Skald glanced back at the livingroom. Hearing that Amber was practicing with iko made him wonder who this individual was. He was training three of the family members, four if syre shared that. Was he a personal trainer or something?
”From what I could tell this Iko is training Silence and coal as well. Is he like a personal trainer or something for the family?”
Skald tilted his head and blinked a bit at hearing her proposition. Syres offer was sincere and skald felt like he could probably get out of the house with this. He wasn’t exactly the sort that did a lot of physical training so this could probably do well for him. After mulling it over for a few moments he’d nod his head.
”I don’t see why not. It’d do me some good to get out of the house and get some fresh air.”
Skald would pick at his food; he did have a hearty appetite… maybe not as hearty as some of the others in the house but being a part of this family meant quite a deep stomach so to speak!

"Eh, 'cooped up' might be a bit of an exaggeration. Even if she's uncomfortable around Snowflake, there's portals, right?"
The feline rolled her shoulders, taking the last burgers off the burner as the conversation carried on. Skald asked a good question: who was Iko? "Um... he's the de-facto or current leader of the Knights of the Rose at this point, I guess." That seemed like a good way to describe it, Syre giving a nod. "Damn good trainer, though. One of the few who could even give mom a run for her money."
Past that? The feline would give a wide smile, starting to get a plate set up for herself! "Great! Make sure to have your fill, and I'll hit ya up in a couple of hours. Don't worry, I'll be sure that I don't run out too far ahead of you." Past that?
It was really supposed to be a lazy, relaxing day. After their late lunch, Silence would rest on the couch, and Mikemon would alternate between cuddling, working through paperwork on the coffee table, and penciling through the draft of his new textbook, with a highlighter and a red pen in hand. Several things to check, several example questions and diagrams to draw - these things were tricky!
It was that latter point that lowered Mikemon's guard when he saw his D-Terminal vibrate on the table, the number for Whtiewater on the front. There was several things it could have been, but most likely, it was either about the book or about a class he was teaching next semester. And at this point, even Silence would be used to that damn phone.
"Sorry, hun." The doctor chuckled, before taking a breath, mustering his professional tone to the front as he answered. "Hello, Dr. Mikemon speaking. Is this personal or business?"

”I spose you have a point. I should give her a call then.”
Portals were another thing that the renamon-x didn’t really use when he was still in his last business. Hearing about this Iko however… Well skald felt the hairs raise on his neck at hearing that he was the current leader of the Knights of the Rose. Hearing that he was capable of giving even K a run for her money? He glanced towards where silence sat wondering where that wolf ran against his mother.
”What about Silence? I’ll admit I don’t really know too much about either of them.”
It was a fair question given that skald had never met his mother and silence well… he wasn’t still sure what to think about her. Hearing that the feline would be up for it in a few hours skald would chuckle and nod his head. ENjoying the food he had picked out for the most part. He certainly did have a healthy appetite!
”I don’t think that’ll be too much of a problem on the running part. I was always a decent runner but… it’s the other stuff I generally have a problem with.”
Silence was pretty content in just lazing on the couch; having her eyes half lidded and gingerly rubbing Mikemon’s back here or there. Even going so far as to run a hand over his head when he was working on that textbook.
”So what’s this one going to be about? Or is this just an update to others?”
Silence was fairly interested in this sort of stuff and with both of their guards lowered she snorted when his phone started to ring. She’d lay back not really sure if she should be hearing whatever was over the phone.
”No worries. I’m not going anywhere.”
The shutmon chuckled along with him and laid her head back; yawning wide before the doctor took his phone. She’d rub at her face and the moment mikemon was finished with his normal greeting there’d be a somewhat nervous if not outright panicking scientist on the other line.
”Dr. Mikemon? Thank goodness I was able to get into contact with you. There’s been a development with the arm it’s… well it’s not within expected parameters. You need to come to whitewater as soon as possible. Preferably without your wife since we don’t know how… this thing will react to her.”
Mikemon would likely recognize this scientist as one of the ones that had been part of the disposal team. A fairly professional mon that had a good history of doing things right. So it had to be something fairly worrying if he wasn't able to hold it together...

Mikemon didn't mind! Leaning his head back into those occasional scratches, the doctor gave a shrug at Silence's question.
"Just another update. Things to touch up on every year, new theories, new revisions, even a new chapter or two - its tricky to stay on top of all of this stuff. Even if I'm being rushed on it." He chuckled as he held up that ringing phone, before taking the call...
... Oh.
"What kind of development? Tch... I guess I'll see it when I get there. Just keep things under control in the meantime, alright?" The doctor wasn't given a lot of detail up front, but it definitely sounded urgent. He'd hang up, and would sigh, taking a moment to stand up and stretch out his arms.
"Work's calling, hun. I hopefully won't be long, but don't be afraid to bother Syre if you need anything." He'd put on a smile, as he opened up that portal to Whitewater Medical - to the front office, hopefully away from the situation - and he'd walk right on past, grabbing a lab coat on the way.
"Of course things couldn't just be one-and-done here. Tch... medical disposal, right?"

”Theories about things you're the leader on right?”
Silence chuckled softly and leaned back on the couch, still giving the Doctor a small scritch between his ears before letting him be. He was busy enough as it was no need for her to distract him during a phone call. Even if she could be a bit playful or a tease about it here or there.
She’d blink a bit wondering what was going on exactly; she wasn’t entirely paying attention to the call but the mikemon seemed a little bit nervous or worried. She’d eye him for a few moments and gave him a one armed hug as he stretched.
”Don’t worry I will. Maybe play a game with her or something heh.”
She’d return that smile and ease back on the couch; stifling a yawn the shutmon would consider what she should do…
While the doctor would find things a bit of a mess back in whitewater. While he ported in away from the situation the frustration on some of the staff here was apparent immediately. The front office clerk was quick to point him in the right direction.
”That’s right Doctor, the containment team is there right now handling things. Or at least trying.”
It wouldn’t be hard for him to find the area even without the pointers; heck there was a steady stream of people here or there and very quickly he’d happen upon those andromon’s that were practically used for everything. However…
One of them was missing a large portion of it’s chest cavity; it wasn’t just broken but it seemed to be shredded by something incredibly powerful. Some of the other andromon’s looked worse for wear but the one or two Hi-andromon’s that were present seemed fine enough. The scientist that he spoke to over the phone was standing there, gripping one arm that hung fairly loose; the annoyed dorumon motioned with his head towards the door.
The bloody thing is in there. We have restraining collars and shackles on it so it’s cooperative for now. When we tried to destroy the arm it digivolved into some… thing and tore through the security one after another. If you can take over I’m going down to medical proper to get my arm looked at. It sort of reminds me of when we brought that shademon variant in here; save this one is far stronger.”
The dorumon grumbled a bit and if he was able to do a proper turn over with the doctor would see himself off. If not he’d at least be willing to answer any questions the doctor had.

"Oh, fucking hell."
Did the doctor really need to explain how he felt when he saw this? He saw a number of damaged machines and even a wounded Dorumon, all of which had barely managed to take hold of the situation. Seeing the state of security and of the other scientist, the doctor was quick to kick off his feet, floating as he increased his data signal to that of a mega.
"You aren't going to medical here, right? We have something that caused this much damage barely in containment, we need to evacuate the rest of the hospital. I'm sure Luminas' crisis team would be much better suited at keeping whatever this is contained than what we did here."
The cat gave a 'tsk' through his fangs. "All I'm going to do is keep things monitored and under control until they get here. Make sure that it happens this time - we don't need another Shademon incident."
With that - and with his power still ascended - the cat would lower himself, take a breath to steady himself, and walk right on through that door, past the wounded Andromon. A Digimon grown from her wife's infected arm...
... Maybe it'd be worth a spot in the textbook.

The dorumon let out a soft snort and shook his head, motioning towards where the exit was. They were after all in a disposal area that was supposedly built for this sort of thing., But with the evacuation of high risk patients…
Oh please I’m not a fool Doctor. I’ll be going down the street or lord have willing luminas. They’re expensive for a reason. But yeah, Who do you think I called after you? I’ll hopefully see you in a bit.
The dorumon gave a small wave of his unwounded arm and grumbled as he started to walk off; he had no reason to be here given his state and the few andromon’s that weren’t a heap of rubble would be useful if the mikemon needed assistance.
The doctor would find the room past the andromon quite barren of objects, quite barren of much else other than a ring of what used to be of re-enforced glass. Shattered outwards from what seemed to be a high powered disposal unit. Or at least what was left of it. Sitting there in the middle of all this mess was a creature that stood just as tall as his shutmon wife.
Though it held none of the charm, it wasn’t regal and it certainly didn’t have the same… Attitude that silence did. One eye cracked open and the white furred head turned slowly to look at what entered the room.
Some golden collar and shackles remained on it’s white body but not much else. A torn to shreds andromon lay at it’s feet and… judging by what it was holding in it’s hands? Well that was the remains of the other andromon. It’d crack it’s lips in a smile and toss what it was holding to one side. Taking a step forward and letting the sensation of the glass being crushed under it’s feet with pleasure.
But when it’s lips opened, rather than hear some vocal cue all the mikemon would hear was a soft hiss. Followed immediately by a wave of understanding from within his data. Like it was speaking to him one way but he was hearing something else.
What a fascinating creature. You are so much stronger than the robots. Will you be a better partner?

A mere nod was given to the Dorumon, the wounded dragon running off to join the evacuation effort. Mikemon's attention was fully set on the data signal right in front of him, his eyes already picking up the shape of the "Digimon" before him. As much as he could call it that:
An amalgamation of D-Reaper and Shutmon data.
He knew the threat. And as he stepped right on through to that containment room, full of shattered glass and warped metal, his eyes rested right on the figure before him. Another Shutmon, though something definitely seemed off. Her eyes, her pose? The doctor would stand still as the Shutmon would turn, in her golden shackles, walking over that broken glass.
The voice would echo in his ears.
And Mikemon would raise a single claw. In the next moment, a 'snap' could be heard in the air, a dark crackle of electricity bounding from Mikemon's arm, as several dark, shadowy tendrils shot forth, straight across the room, and right into the opposite wall, like a series of bullets. None were aimed right for the creature, but right around her: an inch away from her neck, right next to her liver, right under her arm.
The doctor was not amused.
A coreless, stolen fragment of data, deeply infected by the D-Reaper. She's nothing but a threat. Even her echoing words seemed empty.
"Give me one good reason why I shouldn't follow through."

The creature inspected what was in front of her; she liked the cut of his data. The force she could see and the sensations that she felt when trying to peer deeper. It was some kind of… forced digivolution wasn’t it? Mikemon’s didn’t get that strong normally did they? The creature paused as that claw was raised; blinking while her shoulders relaxed slightly.
She could see that dark crackle of energy easily and with those tendrils shooting across the room she was able to acertain that he wasn’t aiming at her but around her. Took quite a bit of skill didn’t it? She’d pause and look herself over unsure if she had been actually hit. But turning to look back at where the tendrils had ‘hit’ she figured that her initial guess at her not getting hit was right!
Just smoothing over her fur in the ‘areas’ that he had aimed at. She’d pause as she felt those eyes still on her; managing a wide grin at hearing that question. There was a lot of things she could say but ultimately she’d settle on one; rubbing at the back of her neck with a shrug.
Look I was only defending myself from the robots and fuzzball. They attacked me first. They were trying to cook me and I didn’t want that. Isn’t it only right that I do so?
She’d waggle her finger at him; pretty sure that this was the right way to go about this. It’s not like she could do much more than physical attacks given that these golden items seemed to be limiting some of her deeper innate abilities.
I bear no hostility to you or your ilk. Only curiosity.
The ‘shutmon’ didn’t move from her spot but instead put her hands on her hips; eyeing the doctor up and down before slowly frowning. She could tell there was some kind of connection here but what?
And why do you feel familiar?

Seriously? This infected piece of data was speaking in terms of self-defense?
... It didn't fit. The D-Reaper's drive should have been more autonomous, more 'one note', but there seemed to be some sort of nuance to this Shutmon's reasoning. It was enough to make the doctor hesitate, but seeing her so casually tell him off, the doctor's attention remained right on her. And with that last question, the doctor would respond.
With one more shadow tendril, aimed right through the infected creature's center.
If it struck through, the shadow would pierce through the front, and straight through the back, slicing through the newly-restrained Ultimate like butter. But there would be no core that was pierced, nothing 'vital' destroyed - in fact, if the creature looked down, she might even see that bubbling red mass building up, right over the entrance wound.
"For a quarter of a cycle, you've been nothing but an infection on my dear wife's arm. Built from a strain of virulent data that only wants to de-make the entire world into a few lines of simple code." The doctor snarled, looking down at that potential wound.
"The same data that's stolen away more than one of my friends, my family. Your sentience is hardly a blessing to me."

The ‘shutmon’ tilted her head to one side as she could see her words had struck home in the doctor. Or what she had presumed to be a good strike. Though with that last question and her defenses lowered for the time being that last shadow tendril did indeed strike her center. She’d grunt in a mix of surprise and pain; brushing at her chest with a pair of hands and frown as she noted that… Well there was that red mass that was restoring what had been destroyed with ease!
I remember being attached to someone very powerful and very forward. But to hear that it was your wife…
The shutmon frowned slowly and glanced up at the doctor; hearing that she was built from a strain of data that only wanted to de-make the entire world into a few lines of code? That didn’t seem right. She’d bite the inside of her cheek and mulled over this information.
That’d explains the nagging and whispering in my head. Though ‘escape’ and ‘come here’ is more prevalent among them than ‘destroy’ or ‘de-make’.
She’d watch that mass of data harden for a moment, turning that self same black that was usual among the d-reaper… until it softened again and returned her natural coloration to that struck area. She’d flick her set of ears and turn to glance at the machine.
So that’s the reason for the burning then. Innate self preservation over the fear of something looking to destroy something more. I suppose i can understand the hostility but that still leaves me in the position of trying to figure out how to not end up as a smeared paste of data on the ground.
Her head turned, family. Friends… Data. All the same thing to the whispering voice; just more things that needed to be handled but… her curiosity was deep.
What were their names?

"Tch."
Mikemon might have been able to wound this 'Shutmon', but it would have been much more difficult to destroy her where she stood. Piercing attacks - where Mikemon excelled - were less effective against such amorphous opponents. And despite everything, this creature didn't even raise a single claw against him.
If she could be reasoned with at all, or if she could understand the situation, this might have been her only chance.
"No more hurting the personnel around here." The doctor's words were stern, as he let his shadows vanish around her. "Another group will be here in an hour or so. A containment group. If you work with them as a research subject, you should be able to continue as you are. But beyond that... well, you're an extension of a plague that should have died out decades ago."
Mikemon blinked at that last question, though. Their names? The tone was curious and earnest... but...
"... Its better you don't know them." The doctor broke eye contact. "You're going to be living your own, separate life. Who they are or were isn't going to do anything but weigh heavy on your mind."

She didn’t know the value or range of his attacks, she didn’t know how powerful he was. She technically didn’t stand a chance but if she pushed for it she felt that maybe… just maybe she could fight this individual well enough to a standstill. But that didn’t matter if there were more on the way. She’d huff a bit and tap at her chest; her smile was still very prominent even if the edges twisted just a bit to signify a frown.
I mean I was only defending myself. It’s not like I wanted to hurt them.
The ‘shutmon’ grumbled a little bit and folded her arms; as the other spoke about another group she had to wonder what he meant by a containment group. Was there a lot of things like this that she had to cope with? Work with this group as a research subject? She’d crack an eye open; staring quietly at the mikemon in front of her.
I mean it’d behoove me to learn more about myself so I don’t see why not. And died out decades ago?...
She’d rub at her head; the edges of her mouth twisting slightly. That wasn’t what she was being told or asked by these voices. They were so distinct yet so far away. Hearing that she didn’t need to know them the shutmon huffed quietly.
It won’t weigh heavy on me but doesn’t sharing the pain of loss help lift a burden one carries? But I getcha. I won’t ask a second time. But then… if you won’t tell me theirs. What is your name?
The tone was earnest, curiosity layered in it. She even took a step so she could lean forward; tilting her head this way or that and the long hair that she had draping down either side of her head. The four ears flicking forward as though waiting for the answer.
....and what is mine?

"Its not like they were looking to hurt anyone, either."
Mikemon's tone remained resolute. He knew the risks - this wasn't something that he could be lenient on. Even if this was a 'Shutmon' before him, it was still the living embodiment of the plague that threatened this world. That it manifested in this way was equally fascinating and horrifying to the feline. "Yes, decades ago. Unfortunately, different strains do keep popping up - one of which is now at the core of your data. Well, your 'center', anyway"
Past that, this Shutmon wouldn't get too many details from the cat. He'd keep his family's names safe, and his own wasn't going to give her much to work with: "Dr. Mikemon. Or, rather, I never grew up with a name." He shrugged - it was something pretty common with Digimon, especially ones that didn't grow up with a family. As for this Shutmon's name?
"Well, that's up to you. Your species is 'Shutmon', if that is any help." Past that? The doctor would give a nod, and turn around, stepping right back outside the door.
It would close behind him. And the cat would let out a long, slow breath, shaking his head as he waited for the 'help' to arrive.
