ExD 0.5A - Storm of Blood
|

"...Whoever have the bright idea of using his majesty's ship definitely have some screw loose," a viking-like Digimon mused as he steered the wheel. "This ship is completely new and pristine, already they said 'alright, this might sound sudden but man this ship, go to Empyrean Skies and fight some monster that made the island raining blood' are you shitting me!? HMS Astralight just finished few weeks ago and already they're planning to crash this!? This beaut!? MADNESS, I SAY, MADNESS!"
"But Captain," a tall canine Digimon cuts in to the Olegmon's rant. "This is what madam secretary told us to."
"Well alright I can get it why Madam Secretary told us that this is some mission but COME ON. She's brand new! her hull is still pristine! We haven't even have the king smashed wine on her bow! You're telling me that we have to let her get painted by blood?"
"Hate to break it to you, Captain, but it's very urgent. Not to mention there are three instances of similar events happening around Digital World right now..."
"Curses! Alright mates! Call 'em missiontakers stat! We're going to enter Luminas' air territory! It's only few more minutes before we reach the point of no return!"
"Aye, capt'n!"
For those who have no idea what's going on, they're currently on board of HMS Astralight, a ship commissioned by Hikaru before his break for KIZNA exploration. Said ship is mix of a ship and a zeppelin. Its lower half is just like any traditional warship, but above it is something like a balloon that allows it to fly. Adorned with many craftsman's painstaking work, it's both functional and beautiful, even if the design looked heavily decorated. The ship will be mass produced after this one was tested... preferrably with less decorations... That was the idea at first. However, just weeks after its completion, Hikaru overheard of a three separate chance of ExD outbreak. With no choice, he ordered through Jill for the ship to sortie after quality check. Once there have been found no malfunction, the Astralight is decided for sortie.
There have been effort by Luminas to send their own ship, but unfortunately, Luminas ship are ill suited against the beast. They have tried sending several ships each with different material and technological level, but unfortunately, they only could hold on for about thirty minutes before fully inoperable after braving the storm of blood. They managed to send to other city some SOS and the blood. Having encountered various ExD before, Ys ended up being the one taking the rescue mission, as HMS Astralight's armor have been tested to be able to withstood the storm of blood for longer compared to the rest. However... They have another problem.
The monster terrorized an entire island, It creates orbitting storm. This storm have moved the island farther and farther from its original position, thus creating more and more pressing crisis. As the time of this deployment, it have been about four days, and the island have drifted about 200 kilometers away from its original position. With no food, medicine and little water due to no rain, the islanders will soon die..
The participants immediately escorted to the meeting room, where Olegmon is in.
"Good afternoon, ladies, gentlemen, and honorable ones that did not identify as either. It's currently 12:32. My name is Olegmon, here's my first mate Cutlassmon. We're currently aboard HMS Astralight, thank you for taking this commission... I'm not sure if you have heard about stories of... some monstrous looking Digimons lurking... We can't quite explain about them right now in details. Let's just say we'll explain it to you AFTER THIS in full if so you want to get a full explanation... keep it until later. But all you need to know is... this rumor is very true, and currently a little bit under wrap to not cause mass panic. Countermeasures are being developed, including wider communication between secluded places. Either way... Here's what we know..
First..."
Olegmon pulled a projector screen and clapped.
"What we do know is that this is our target island. Fereshte Island, population: 2560 Digimons. 40% adult, 50% child, 10% baby. No perfect noted to live in here after Luminas reformation. Most perfect got recalled to the city to aid in reformation. It's known as idyllic island, like a hometown to return to. However, about four days ago, a storm brewed and came along this monster... whose exact form they have no idea. This storm caused the usual rainfall that happened in this region to not fall at all. To make it worse, before it landlocked these people, rain of blood fell to this area and caused some form of fever. We still have yet to understand the full effect. We however know that they won't be able to survive for more than one more days.
Second: We know the effect of the rain of blood. It's a corrosive rain that slowly depeletes your health and lowers your defense. The more you exposed to it, the worse the effect will be. The monster apparently have increased power against those who are affected by it, but we don't have that intel... I'm going to share to you the effect now."
ExD Helix - Bloodrain Creates a rain of blood in 35 meter radius area around the infected. Decreases defense of opposing targets by 10%/20%/30% and apply small/moderate/strong DoT damage to targets within the area at the moment of contact / two turns while in contact/ three turns while in contact. Reduces potency each time target is healed.
"Third, we have several cannons here. We'd like one party each man the cannon. Humans preferrably man the cannon. Each canno have two skills, and they have different cooldown each. Fire them at your own discretion. The total numbe ris... let's see... four on port and four on starboard. They're not connected to one another so don't worry. As for the abilities..."
Cannon 1: Standard Rapid Shot - Allow three turns of nonstop firing, but then cooldown for two turns before able to fire again Breaker Cannon - Breaks one layer of the opponent's defense. Three turns cooldown.
Cannon 2: Standard Bomber - Bombs the enemy, stronger than rapid shot, but have one turn cooldown between use Tomahawk Launcher - Extremely accurate, high firepower attack that could disrupt an opponent's charging. However it only can be shot once before cooling down for five turns.
Cannon 3: Piercer Sting - Ignores how many enemies it pierces and just goes through all sort of defense. Its power however is rather small. 2 turns cooldown between use. Breaker Cannon - Breaker Cannon - Breaks one layer of the opponent's defense. Three turns cooldown.
Cannon 4: Standard Rapid Shot - Allow three turns of nonstop firing, but then cooldown for two turns before able to fire again Spark Blaster - Short Range, but very useful to clear any incoming weak projectiles heading to the ship. Two turns cooldown.
"On top of that, Astralight is equipped with Positron Laser... if we could get three hits in, I'm very sure we can defeat the enemy no matter how strong it is. However, in order to do so, we have to get the bow pointed at the monster. It's going to be extremely dangerous because the front have no cannon system except that one. We also have two uses of regenerator which heals you for a while."
Regenerator: Heals the allies (minor) for three turns provided they're above Astralight deck. Breaks after use
"And two stacks of decoy missiles. It's useful if there are anything homing on us. Of course we can use it only twice. I think if we say more info for the meantime it'll be hard for you all, so until this point, any questions?"

Funny. It was both strange and oddly nostalgic for the three to be together again. Almost as if the past week completely separated from eachother had almost never happened...key word almost, as there was clearly a hint of an underlying distrust between the twins and human, like they were together again not out of their will, but out of obligation.
Which to a certain extent was the case, but that was neither here nor there. What mattered was their mandatory "get together" week day just so happened to coincide with the day they enlisted for yet another mission. With rather little fanfare the somewhat estranged team boarded the HMS Astralight and set towards...whatever it was they were fighting that day. That part was still kinda vague.
It felt...somewhat uneasy, truth be told. Outside a rather quick and terse greeting they didn't exchange many words among themselves. Really it came as a relief to have someone aboard give them such a detailed and perhaps overly specific explanation of all the mission details at hand, if only because it forced the trio to not have to adress their own elephant in the room. Not that anyone here would care about it besides them, so what was the point of starting a scene? They were here to hunt a giant...something, cash out and walk away. Easy as, or at least that's what they hoped.
Though considering the rather surprising amount of firepower that singular vessel was carrying, things would probably not be easy in the slightest. Four cannons, missiles, a giant fucking laser, it was almost insane to think using this amount of weaponry on a single creature was anything other than overkill...yet Carlos knew better. Compared to some of the things he had seen, this loadout seemed almost modest.
As for the when mandatory moment to ask questions finally came up, it came to no one's surprise that Gio was the first one to speak up, one arm raised and being waved around rapidly to get Olegmon's attention.
"Oh, oh! Uhm...can we actually like...go fight it head on? There's only four cannons and one, three, five..." As soon as he asked he'd begin to point at everyone that was present on the room, trying to loudly tally both humans and digimon...before quickly giving up. "...a lot of us!"
"That's...ok not that bad of a question I suppose." Dio conceded with a nod, surprised (and relieved) he didn't have to shut down a question from his brother.
"And what about the blood rain? Is there anything we can do about it besides hiding? I think even an umbrella would be better than nothing." Carlos added, his use of we clearly aimed at the human participants as opposed to digimon. Not that their safety wasn't a concern but in his first hand experience humans weren't particularly durable against what the average digimon could conjure up, much less one that needed an entire crew to hunt down...

"There is an age-old saying that predates even the Royal Knights, and the Demon Lords. A knight in shining armor has never had their mettle tested. Such a saying applies even to this ship." A Kotemon with a voice that, cursed as it was, was immediately recognizable by those who knew, uttered as he dared to step onto the ship, with three others in tow. A pale human, who stared up at the immensely taller Digimon around them.
A Patamon, who seemed not very perturbed at all by this...
...
And a Hawkmon.
Who looked like she really just hated it here. As they were escorted to the meeting room with everyone else...Nanashi spoke up. "I have heard the rumors of these...Digimon, if they can still be called that, Captain. Which is part of why my group decided to take up the commission--we want to learn more. Four cannons on each of those parts...So eight total." Nanashi hummed. "We should definitely have the numbers to man each cannon and be able to take the fight to the monster if need be..."
It was then that Miyako finally spoke up. "The others here probably can. Neither of you three can evolve to. So, we're on cannon duty. I have a question, myself. Does the rain pierce through the EV suit? Or...is it something that only affects the Digimon?" The albino was also appraising the firepower of the vessel given the information they were being handed...uh.
Was it weird that she wasn't really surprised by all of this? It just lined up with all the crazy stories Mantis had told her. Speaking of Mantis, though...
"...Do you think it might be possible to try blowing the veil of the clouds away? I am. Admittedly a bit uncertain about the nature of this creature, but we should consider every possible option before the maiden battle commences."

There are things that Kitt the Spadamon had faced ever since he joined KIZNA, and quite frankly, things that no Digimon his age should even think of doing: he fought against a possessedSeraphimon that was being controlled by possession tags and threatened not just the city of Rosewood, but threatened the well-being of one of the four Sovereigns. And, he fought against another angelic Digimon corrupted beyond belief that attempted to drain the life out of innocent researchers and morph their bodies into zombified minions—something that he thought only existed in fiction. Yet despite that, despite how scary those two missions were, Kitt came through from the other side thanks to his KIZNA comrades, Kenny and Skadi, and came out a more stronger, brave Digimon confident of his newfound strength. Now he was called to arms once again, on board a flying ship named the HMS Astralight, with its sails set towards a storm fueled by a gigantic Digimon. He was the only KIZNA member that signed up for this mission as the team was stretched across other places throughout the Digital World dealing with the ExD situation, and that included Kenny and Skadi. Truth be told, the Spadamon couldn’t help but feel a bit of loneliness as he looked at the few empty seats. The three of them were like a team together whenever they enlisted on a mission. Just being right besides those two, especially Skadi, washed away all the fears and doubt in his heart and instead filled it with determination. But, just because he was the only KINZA member onboard this mission doesn’t mean he didn’t come alone. An arm raised right besides Kitt trying to get Olegmon’s attention. “Yeah, I gotta agree with the sun-tanned human over there. I just got my fur shampooed and conditioned the other day, so I hope you guys got something that’ll protect us against this rain, and more importantly, my fur.”
Kitt frowned and slightly rolled his eyes. The Digimon that asked that pompous question was a Black Coronamon with golden yellow eyes, much like his, with two well-lit blue flames on his forehead gear and tail. He wore a one-sleeved jacket with a pauldron on his left shoulder, a sliver scarf comfortably nuzzled on his neck, and gold-colored calf protectors on legs. From a glance, one would ponder if these two were somehow related, or if it was a Digimon that Kitt befriended some time ago, and the answer would quite surprise them. This was Kitt’s brother, Katt.

When you were a thrillseeking human looking to better familiarize yourself with the Digital World, and when you were a battlehappy ogress seeking powerful foes to fight, what better way was there to kill two birds with one stone, than going on a mission or two?
Neither Kano nor Wrylia were sure what, exactly, to expect of this mission that they took - knowing only that it'd involve monsters, and naval combat. Kano certainly wasn't a captain or sailor, and neither was Wrylia - but when they had discussed it, it was of no surprise that she had barked a laugh, stating that she could 'just fly up to the monster and smack it herself.'
Frankly, Kano wished he could find wings or the ability to punch above his weightclass, so that he could contribute by charging in headfirst as well - but it did sound like there were ways of aiding in a fight, anyhow. The only issue was just getting the bits to afford such methods - which was another reason why they'd be here. And upon being escorted into the meeting room, Kano and Wrylia would for the most part keep to themselves - Wrylia looking the captain up and down to gauge his strength, whilst Kano glanced to the fellow missongoers.
On Wrylia's end, she could immediately tell that Olegmon was a powerful digimon. Strong, reasonable, with all the countenance that a leader should have. She'd certainly love having the opportunity to spar against him, sometime - perhaps after this was all over - but for now, she'd at the very least be able to accept following this larger digimon's orders; being content to listen to Olegmon, as he explained the situation.
Kano, meanwhile, would first note Carlos and his duo - a little dragon, and a little imp-looking creature... He was still figuring out what species were what, so he couldn't quite identify either of them - but he did get a feeling that they weren't exactly the 'holy' types that he had seen on their way here.
Next, there was... A child? Yeah, a young girl, who seemed much too young for all of this, if Kano had to be quite honest! Her entourage was pretty varied, compared to the little dragon and imp - although it was strange, that one of them spoke in an... Almost robotic tone. Were they a cyborg or something, under that mask?
And then, finally, there were two feline digimon - both of them leonine in appearance. One of them seemed rather quiet and perhaps a bit nervous. The other, however, was far more pompous and vain by contrast - though the two otherwise appeared to be complete opposites.
A wide variety of people - surely, this would be more than plenty to deal with this rampant monster, right?
Well, in any case, it sounded as though this monster - whatever it was - had a trick up its sleeve, in the form of a literal storm of blood, that was able to make the people on the island it was terrorizing fall ill.. And the effects that Olegmon would share on the projector certainly didn't seem pleasant!
Wrylia, however, would grin widely; crossing her arms. "A little rain won't stop me from beating that monster's face in." She'd remark confidently, adding "Hell, what's a storm without a little lightning?"
"Let's not get ourselves killed on our first mission, Wrylia." Kano added in comment, briefly elbowing the giantess as Olegmon would further elaborate on the cannons. One party to each cannon - and they each seemed to have their own sets of functions, including... A tomahawk launcher?! "... You're talking about those hugeass missiles??" He'd ask, wondering what in the hell kind of cannon #2 must've been... Yeah, he was definitely going to have dibs on that. Though, weren't those also meant for like... Ships and submarines?
How would those work, if they were going to be up in the air, instead of underwater...?
Well, in any case, it sounded as though there were other goodies for use in this mission - a hugeass laser, a regenerator, and some decoy missles. "Sounds like we're well damn equipped, for this." Wrylia commented, idly cracking her knuckles as she grinned to Kano. "Can I trust ya to shoot the monster, and not me?" She'd question teasingly - to which Kano would raise an eyebrow at her and smile wryly.
"Can't make promises, if you're gonna be sassing me like that." He'd retort - prompting a mutual chuckle from the both of them. Though they were still getting to know eachother, their similar natures - at least in the realm of bantering - made it easy to get along with one another, even if Kano sometimes found Wrylia's fighthappy nature to border on suicidal.
With everyone's questions coming in though - some of which being good questions, to say the least - there was the Coronamon's pompous attitude shining through, which would draw the ogress' attention. Smirking some, Wrylia would take the time to discreetly spit into her palm (or at least, as discreetly as could be,) before reaching over to ruffle the top of Katt's head, wiping her palm clean on his fur. "What's wrong, huh kitten?" She'd question almost tauntingly. "If you ain't cut out for a mission with the big kids, then I'm sure we can point you towards a daycare, if you don't want people to see ya cowering on deck!"
Kano would side-eye Wrylia a little, before elbowing her. "C'mon. Let's not start a fight, alright?"
"What?" Wrylia responded, playing coy. "I'm just saying it like it is - digimon who are too prissy to value the mission over their own looks have no place here."

Everyone's question slowly addressed by Olegmon one by one. "The idea of the higher up was to actually have you fight on the deck, bombarding it from afar, but... I guess it's a good strategy... considering the sheer size of this monster. The smallest report was like two Whamons, but can goes up until three Whamons long... they said, at least. No clear visual have been shown of this creature. But yes, you can go there. We'll attempt to catch you if you happened to fall. Thing is though... have you heard of ExD before?
To simplify them, they're basically virus that originated from other world, which causes this mutation to begin with. This virus caused some Digimons to behave in certain pattern. Increased aggressiveness, and if they happened to be... receptive of the virus, they transform these creatures into... something suffering. The host are turned into zombie like husk that used to keep spreading this virus... that's why..."
Olegmon opened a small ches. Inside is a crystal in shape of rectangular that flared a little bit on the sides. It's colored green, with circuit patterns inside. "Here, we only could make limited number of them, so unfortunately we can't really afford to distribute them to everyone. These are basically protective artifact that reducing chance Digimons to get infected by ExD virus. Keyword: Reducing chance. It's not 100%, but it's still 98%-ish. Normally unless you rolled a 1 or 2 out of 100, then... yeah, you're fucked. But this is the best attempt we can do. All Digimon, please take one and put this on yourself.
As for the humans... no need to worry. Apparently these rains just pretty much stick on you and smells terrible. Though it might destroy your clothes if it's digital. We tested it on analog clothes and it's pretty much fine. EV suit won't help, young lady, I'm sorry. We have tested that. It breaks through the protective layer like acid. Anyway, we have some analog clothes if you need them. Ask one of the Kobomons later. For the Digimons... I'm sorry, you're out of luck. Apparently it can goes anywhere, even if you have umbrellas or any covering. I guess a full shield might able to help you to reduce its effect for a moment."
After that out of the way, Olegmon continues. "...By the way, all host of ExD basically controlled by the virus to behave in certain pattern, I said that, right? ...There's another catch. That is, it'll be ordered to survive at all cost... this means, it can force evolution upon the host if it feels that it would lead to a situation where it'll be lower in power than whoever present. The moment we enter the airspace of that monster, I'll devolve to prevent it from evolving. Not to mention I have to helm this ship, so I'm sorry that I can't really help you fight. But I can definitely operate the non-cannon armaments.. and the positron cannon.
On topic of blowing the cloud away, I think the moment when we enter that monster's airspace, that will be... nonconsequential... as the storm will really pelt us. These storm of blood apparently independent from presence of clouds. But you don't have to worry. The camera system in the cannon turrets are top notch. It should be able to ignore various textures and give you clear shot at the target. And aye, those tomahawk missiles. Well you can just say it's a controlled missile, but with enough power to wreck something real good."
To Katt's comment though, Olegmon stared at him for good ten seconds, his eyes wide and mouth agape. The next moment he looked at his first mate and pointed at Katt.
"Is this prissy little cat lost or did an entire coconut tree clubbed his head somewhere!? We clearly mentioned rain of blood in the mission description and askin' me about protecting his fur!? On what Homeostasis balanced Digital World does this makes sense!? By Neptunemon, I have heard absolutely hammered Kobomon said something made more sense, and this wee cat, not even a hint of rum on his breath I could smell!"
Poor Cutlassmon is trying his best to hold his laughter, apparent from his shaking shoulders. His face absolutely red from his attempt. Feebly, he managed to let out a restrained "Any other questions? I-If... phaha.. if not we'd like to discuss... about... pffh... our plan..."

The trio quietly nodded as they took in all the answers, or at least the ones that could be provided for them. The one regarding the rain's lack of hazardous conditions towards humans felt like an odd moment of mercy from the digital world, or at least a small silver lining when compared to everything else they learned. But really what turned out to be more interesting was learning who was coming along in this mission, and what better way to do that than hearing what they had to ask themselves?
The first group, while seemingly as unknown to the three dorks as the rest here, did felt at the very least vaguely familiar. Like they had either met the pale girl or her companions before in a dream or something, though there was a lack of weird speech patterns and overuse of cutesy speak to go along with them...as oddly specific as that sounded. Though as soon as the kotemon's monotone voice spoke up it was enough to reassure the three that yes, they knew at least one of them. Somewhat.
The second group was considerably smaller in number but not in presence, a tall draconic lady mon accompanying a more regularly sized, almost short boy that clearly seemed to be the (possibly unheard, if Carlos' experience was of any indication) voice of reason of the duo.
As for the last group? Well they certainly gave the strongest impression of everyone here, if Olegmon's loud laughter was of any indication. Even Dio couldn't help but laugh along.
So this is what it felt like seeing someone being their own punchline. Admitedly it was a nice change of pace for the impmon to not be that guy this time, and it was equally cathartic being able to join in the light (and not so light) ridiculing that came after. One would think being on the receiving end of that for so long would have made Dio more empathetic towards people being gang roasted.
You'd be naive to think that.
"Oh this is rich.Word of advice little runt, just because I like your style: always assume your not gonna come out of combat all tidy, alright? Lest you end up looking outside like how your head probably looks inside." He said with a smirk as he approached the coronamon, and would have probably added a somewhat condescending headpat were it not for the fact Gio quickly shoved him to the side.
As it turned out the lizard didn't seem particularly interested in making fun of the black feline, mostly because his attention was caught by a familiar scent coming from the general area around said coronamon. Finally he would actually spot a familiar looking spadamon next to the pompous feline, causing him to run forward with a beaming smile as he hugged the little digimon.
"Mister Kitt!" He exclaimed with elation, shaking the spadamon to and fro. By the time he finally put him back down Dio was already there, attracted by the commossion and giving the hopefully not too dizzy Kitt a hug of his own, though thankfully one that was considerably less forceful.
"So...how's my favorite pupil doing?" He asked, gently releasing the cat before giving him one last pat on the back, looking back at the coronamon. "And aren't you going to introduce us to your...."
"...family?" Gio said, giving Katt a closer, curious look.
"How can you tell they're related?" Carlos managed to ask, not wanting to interrupt the twins' reunion.
"Duh, same data signature." The imp retorted in a tone as if it were common knowledge.
"And smell." Added Gio with a sure nod, pointing to his muzzlemuzzle, before glancing back at the coronamon with a smile. "Well if you're related to Kitt then you're good, right?"
He would have probably added a headpat of his own, had it not been for Wrylia doing so too. Though even someone as dense as Gio could feel her words not being particularly well intentioned. He'd approach her and give her a light tap on the side to get her attention, before saying.
"Uhm, miss? Can you please not bully Kitt's family? I think this is their first time on the field...clouds...ship...place."
"And maybe learn to pick on others of your own level..." Dio would snidely remark with an aside glance causing Carlos to...wisely shrug and decide to not take part in whatever would become of that, though not before giving Kano a somewhat apologetic look.
"Yeah I think we should get back on topic." He replied to Olegmon, somewhat futilely hoping they could get back into the mission before the ship turned into a battlefield from the inside out.

People both familiar and unfamiliar (and all older than her!) to Miyako stood before her, all processing the same sort of information that she was. It was a miracle that in the moment, Mantis had at least educated her on what some of the bigger Digimon in the world were, so...Three Whamons? "...I. Um. Are you absolutely sure this isn't some aerial variant of ElDoradimon?" It likely wasn't.
"It -is- an island, Miyako-donno." Nanashi pointed out. Regardless, it seemed like it was better for Team Mu to focus entirely on manning the cannons while those capable of aerial combat did their thing. Though...The idea that they may well be inviting worse if they evolved was enough to make Mantis himself shudder a bit.
Speaking of, the Kotemon found it...strange that everyone decided to dunk on the Coronamon. "No. No. It is not a crime for one to be 'green,' as it were. While it is true he should have read the mission briefing a bit, to rag on him for a simple mistake is unnecessary. In addition, it is detrimental to the idea of teamwork, that which usually wins the day for most missions. You disgust me, Oni."
"Dad, please don't." Nanashi sighed, while Miyako nodded to Olegmon. "Alright, is it okay if I go get changed? I think my friends can relay any info I miss." Pretty easy. Throughout all of this, the Patamon remained rather quiet, as if trying to maintain the illusion of paying attention.
Well, it wasn't quite an illusion given he was, but...yeah. "Let's keep to the topic at hand, everyone!" He chirped!

Post by Kitt on Jul 25, 2021 16:09:45 GMT
So not only do they have to face a beast three times the size of a Whamon (which were already big enough as is), but they’ll have to deal with corrosive blood rain alongside with the potential of getting infected by a digital virus. Kitt frowned, this mission already just got a whole lot trickier to handle. And with the corrosive rain, that would mean that once they get into the eye of the storm, he’ll have to his Adult form, WhiteLeomon, and create a barrier for whoever wants to avoid its harmful effects. But thankfully it doesn’t have any effects on humans, so that made him breathe a sigh of relief for now.
As he listened to the briefing, he couldn’t help but lift his head up to see the groups that had signed up for this harrowing mission. The first group consisted of a human male and a very tall Kinkakumon lady that sported a more dragonic appearance with wings and a tail; the second group was a bit larger in size. There was a small, pale human girl with white hair, a Patamon, a Kotemon, and a Hawkmon; and with the third group, he couldn’t quite see due to him and Katt being situated in the back, but he could have sworn he’d seen a familiar purple head.
Speaking of the latter, the Spadamon couldn’t help glow a bright red as a few taunted and teased his brother just because he asked a question. An unnecessary question, yes, but something that doesn’t deserve to be ridiculed over!
His tail began to swish back and forth, indicating signs of aggression slowly boiling up. If there’s one thing he didn’t like, it was bullies, and he knows from experience. But just as he was about to get up from his seat and defend him, the Coronamon began to...chuckle?
Katt couldn't hold back his laughter any longer, slapping his shin with a loud slap.
“HAHAHAHAHA! Oh man, I’ll give you five points for that joke, but on the contrary, I’m not just some ‘prissy little kitty,’ Katt said, looking at Olegmon with a confident gaze, pointing a finger at the sky pirate. “Even if you don’t want to know, I’ll tell you who I am. I am known as the Coronamon with an eagle eye that will shoot your heart out from a mile away! I am Katt the Coronamon!”
He smirked at the leathered jacket Impmon that approached him. “ Who knows, maybe I will come out of this without a scratch on me,” he replied with a wink.
Before he could continue inflating his ego, a black Guilmon suddenly shoved the Impmon to the side, looking for someone. That someone would turn out to be Kitt.
“Gio-sama-ACK!” was all Kitt could utter before he was hugged hard and shaked like a pinata by the Guilmon. With stars in his eyes, he began to stammer, stiff as a board due to the whiplash, and trying his best to keep his balance before falling into Dio’s arms in a hug.
“Ah, hi Lord Dio-sama...this is nice.” He managed to say, still dazed, but glad that this was a normal hug. Had Gio shook him with enough force, he would have been sent to the hospital.
After being released from the hug, Dio asked how he was doing, before shifting his attention to Katt, who stood with a wide-eyed expression from what the Black Guilmon called a “hug.”
“Ah, I guess I haven’t told you guys yet. It’s been awhile since I’ve seen you guys, so I was looking to keep this as a surprise to everyone. This is Katt, my brother. Katt, this my sensei, Lord Dio-sama, Gio-sama, and their human tamer Carlos. It’s kind of a long story with how we met, so I’ll tell you all after we complete this mission,” Kitt said, scratching his head a bit nervously.
Gio asked Katt if he was good since he was related to Kitt. With a smile, Katt was ready to reply with a bashful comment before he felt someone’s wet hands ruffling his head. Feeling it, it was something slimy, almost like...spit. Immediately, the fire that was lit on his forehead began to spark up.
“You disgusting rude ass—do you know how long that took to get my hair permed out?!” He extended both of his arms, a ring of blue-violet flames rotating around his hands, preparing to materialize into something before Kitt placed a hand on his.
“No, Katt. Not here. We don’t draw weapons on our allies.” Kitt replied in a stern tone.
“But she—“ Katt paused for a minute, thinking before letting the flames around his arms die down. Kitt was glad that his brother decided not to engage in a fight. He looked up to the Kinkakumon with a silent, angry glare. This was something that was not going to stand.
“We may be allies for this mission, but don’t you dare bully my brother just because you can and feel like it.” His pupils contracted into pinpricks, his fur standing up on end as he became crystal clear with Wrylia. He wouldn’t say anything else; he would leave it off with that as he turns his attention to Olegmon, bowing.
“I apologize for this inappropriate display, Olegmon-sama. Please continue,” he said.
Katt would look back and forth between him and Olegmon. Half of him wanted to slouch back on his chair and be like ‘Yeah, that’s what you get for messing with me, try and start something with me,’ and the end result was Katt lowering his head alongside Kitt.
“Y-yeah, our bads.” Katt muttered. After that, he stick his tongue out and pull down on his eyelid at the Kinkakumon before focusing back on his attention on the topic at hand.

Huhm. So this ExD stuff was... Infectious as all hell, from the sounds of things. And even though there were these weird pendants - something that Wrylia would raise an eyebrow as she tilted it between her fingers to observe how it caught the light - the protection was not a guarantee. "Well, it's better than nothing, then, be it a one or a hundred." She'd remark dryly, putting the pendant on as she listened to Olegmon continue to speak.
Thankfully, the trouble of digital clothing wouldn't be a worry for either her or Kano - even if he wasn't really interested in going back home, he did well to pack up before he had ended up in the Digital World, after all. Still, he'd wrinkle his nose at the lack of any options to really protect oneself from the rain, even for the humans. "Sounds like everyone's gonna need laundry and a shower after this, then." He'd remark, shrugging a little. No big deal in the grand scheme of things, but it definitely ain't gonna be a pleasant experience.
The mention that this ExD host would be more than happy to evolve to match the powers of everyone else, though, was certainly an interesting tidbit of information. Wrylia would mull this over for a bit, before barking a laugh, joking to Kano "No matter what size I am, sounds like an ExD digimon would provide me with a challenge plenty!"
"Don't think it's worth the risk of you getting infected, yourself." The tamer pointed out in turn, reaching over to poke Wrylia's side. He was nonetheless paying attention to Olegmon, though - nodding at the captain's explanation of the tomahawk missiles - wondering how the controlled part of it would work.
But then there was Katt, Wrylia teasing him, and everyone reacting to either bit. The Coronamon in question would confidently boast and introduce himself at first - to which Wrylia would raise an eyebrow. "Who?" She'd respond dryly - continuing with a barely-concealed smug smirk "It sounds like you're just ready to hang back and let us handle all the hard work and excitement, if you ask me, Itty Bitty Kitty."
She didn't pay too much mind to what the other digimon might've been thinking of her at the time. If they took issue with her behavior, then they were more than free to square up at her over it. Which she'd state quite plainly as Mantis made a remark towards her - smirking at the Kotemon, and crossing her arms as she began visibly sizing up the other digimon in the room. "Talk shit, get hit; if you got a problem with me, then come at me." She stated plainly. It wasn't her problem, if they were gonna get pissy without the fists to back them up.
Which, this drew a groan out of Kano. "Let's wait until after the mission before we start fighting everyone else, at least?" He requested - and though Wrylia was initially quiet as she mulled over this remark, looking Kano up and down, and even glanced towards Gio as the BlackGuilmon made his polite request...
... She'd huff a bit, leaning back in her seat. "... Fine; we have bigger fish to fry, anyways - and I'll sure as hell be doing the frying..." Wrylia began - scales briefly pulsing with electricity, as though to prove her point on how she was going to 'fry' their target - "... But I'm pretty damn confident I can fight any of ya, once this is all over, if you wanna talk shit that badly." She'd grin with this, briefly cracking her knuckles, as if it were her own form of preening. A day of fighting sounded pretty damn good to her!
What really got the ogress' attention though, would be Kitt's outburst - something that'd initially make Wrylia blink in surprise, not expecting such a softspoken feline to make such a firm stance, only to go back to his polite demeanor seconds later. She'd take a second to regard this, though - much to Kano's surprise - she'd chuckle... Surprisingly genuinely?
Though the other digimon who disapproved of her behavior had spoke in a more snide or snarky fashion, this cub was far more firm and spirited in his remark; which Wrylia apparently appreciated.
"Damn, this cub doesn't know if he's mild, or if he's wild!" Wrylia remarked with a lighthearted laugh - reaching over to smack Kitt on the back, like a rambunctious 'bro'. "At least there's one 'mon here who actually knows how to stand his ground and speak his mind, when the jabs come out, hah!"
Kano blinked a little owlishly at this; though... He'd sigh and shake his head a bit, before glancing to Olegmon, speaking "Sorry about all of that, I don't think either of us have any other questions."

"I'm positive, young lady," Olegmon answered. "Unfortunately I know very little about this, because it's not that too long before I joined Ys under his majesty's invitation. He promised me to get me a ship to man, then he asked me a favor to helm this one after he fulfilled his promise..." Olegmon let out a long sigh.
"Ahem, Captain," Cutlassmon coughed to remind him.
"...Ah, sorry. Anyway, yeah, we don't know too much of the details other than what is said. And it's fine, go on and change," he answered. "There should be several vacant room in the ship. Just look those with blue light on the door, and those are empty and meant to change clothes."
Olegmon at first agreed some to Kappy's word, but at Katt's boasts, his eyes turned wider. Will this cat get kicked a peg, or will he stay like this? Sure that being green is not a crime, but in his opinion, being this ridiculously boasting... 90% of it could end up something like a conman's spiel. Either way, he did not say much to the boast and just waited for more important questions.
...Cutlassmon doesn't seem like he could help smiling and shake his head though.
But he's not the one fighting out there because he need to command the ship with Olegmon, so he'll not say more. He'll just going to let this runt know how dangerous this thing is. Though he himself was about to step in when Katt trying to pull his weapon. Thankfully Kitt already stopped him. Honestly, Olegmon sighed. Is this team going to be alright?
"...One more, seriously," he whispered to his first mate. "...One more incident, and I'll have them walk the plank..."
"Captain, we're no longer a pirate, and you said that the plank is a myth in Golden Olegna crew!"
"Well yeah but how can we tell them we're serious? Off the head with them? That's what king and queens do, not pirates! Argh whatever! If there are no question then let's move to strategy! I'd like to know which one of these two plans that you feel more comfortable to execute."
He laid two more maps on the table.
"First one is decoy mission. The idea is some of you... maybe three at most, to distract this Monster with a skiff, while HMS Astralight goes to this island here," he pointed at the island inside the blood storm where it seem did not reach. We'll create our retreat base there, if what we heard are true that this beast will not enter settlements by its own. So in case we need to refill or heal ourselves up we can do that. It'll but some of you in really big danger, but Astralight only needed about six minutes to land there and get you guys back, and after that we can immediately fight it. The small boat have one emergency healing pod that is not as effective as the one we have in astralight, but better than nothing.
Second one... is well... It's literally all out fight. This one honestly not something I want to do because we won't have anywhere to retreat to if we got shot or anything, but at the same time, Astralight will have more supplies for healing, as this ship have healing supplies that was supposed to be shared with people in this island. But if the threat is gone, we don't really need to share our supplies with them. Basically as long as we can eliminate the threat, we don't have to worry about people of that island, because help will came swarming in. The secretary of state told me that whichever choice you pick, you should discuss it by yourself as she have full trust on you. Well then?"
GM Notes: Six minutes is equal to three turns. Pick Plan A, the decoy crew will not be assisted by the main crew as the main crew will instead focus on reaching the island. The decoy crew will be exposed to huge danger, but at the same time the mission will allow one retreat to regroup and re-strategizing your plans.
Plan B means three more main ship size healing pods, and most likely some other healing items that might help you with your ability cooldowns. However, plan B is all out attack with much higher challenge.
To sum it up: Plan A is very hard at the beginning, but it rewards the players with one retreat chance to recover and heals their cooldown (except OPT) Plan B is much more consistent, but in case something unpredictible happened, such as a pattern of the enemy suddenly changed and you're not ready, it could spell absolute failure of the mission.
Pick well!

Dio wasn't fond of admitting it, but the Kotemon spoke the truth, there was no point or need to get so hung up on the poor coronamon over one question, as dumb as said question might have been. Still, he felt getting this defensive over a couple jests was a bit pointless considering Katt didn't seem to mind nearly as much, but getting in at least one jab was enough for the imp, so he didn't prod any further. If anything, he was already warming up to this little scamp, he had a very healthy sense of self respect, which as a someone well known for a carefully cultivated ego Dio just felt compelled to sympathize with. And hey, for all he knew maybe this kitty was as good as he claimed.
"I look forward to seeing that."He said with a smirk of his own but with complete sincerity. "If you need to you can count on me to help with that. I'll be your shield even!" Gio added with a nod, perhaps coming off a bit too eager to throw himself into action. Well, at least you couldn't say he wasn't looking out for the others too.
Honestly learning that Katt was not only related to Kitt but that he was his brother was a bit surprising, but not for the reasons Kitt might have thought. After all, Carlos and especially Dio knew a thing or two about finding brothers that you didn't even knew you had.
"No kidding, now that you mention it the resemblance is pretty obvious. But I agree, we can catch up later, after we've finished this little escapade. Can't wait to see how much you've improved since last time." He said, giving Kitt a pat on the back. And despite how much second hand anger the imp got from witnessing's the kinkakumon's continued bullying of Kitt's brother, he didn't feel the need to intervene after the spadamon did such a good job standing up for his own brother. So much so Dio simply gave him a thumbs up and an approving nod of the head, all while holding back the urge to hold up a considerably more rude finger in Wrylia's direction (though it would have probably been quite hard for his point to come across, considering he only had three fingers).
Gio meanwhile, seemed to perk up considerably at her last words, all but inviting the rest to step up and challenge her after their job here was done. Maybe it was him still wanting to look after Kitt and Katt or perhaps simply too allured by the idea of fighting someone, anyway he was quick to let his interest be known.
"...really?"
"Gio..." Carlos, knowing and fearing what was to come was as quick to speak up as he was to cut himself off. Keeping such a close on Gio, while second nature to him now, was a big reason why they had even split up to begin with, so he instead changed what was originally a stern warning into a more passive (but pleading) observation. "...maybe don't?"
What came after was...unexpected to say the least. The little black scaled lizard gave Carlos a side glance that while not lasting terribly long it came hand in hand with a silence that sure felt like an eternity. After which Gio simply...smiled. A tiny, otherwise inconspicuous smile that anyone else would have most likely not even noticed. But Carlos did. And Gio knew it, which only made his smile grow, for he knew what was going to happen next, and he knew that Carlos wouldn't be able to stop him this time.
He was off the leash.
"Well...if you're free after the mission maybe we could fight, miss?" Gio asked Wrylia as he approached her in a tone that sounded less like an invitation to a duel and more someone inviting a classmate over for a sleepover. "If not that's fine! Gio doesn't mind."
Upon witnessing what had to be Gio's second big burst of rebellious energy, both impmon and human collectively sighed, shrugged and simply turned their attention back to the mission briefing. Trying to talk Gio out of this would probably only spark another argument, so it was better to just let this be for the time being. And what they were left with was a seemingly simple, but very important choice to be had.
"Well considering evolving should ideally be out of the question, maybe the decoy plan should be the one we go with? It will probably be a long fight anyways so at least this way we can get a moment to rest if the going gets rough."

God fucking damn it, this was going to be a long day, wasn't it? People nearly pulling weapons, pointless derision...
"I would like to inform you that I identify as a problem, but I also have enough brain cells to recognize that you are not worth the trouble of risking a mission over. Maybe later. Chill." Mantis stated towards Wrylia with enough of a deadpan that one might think he really -didn't- give a shit. It seemed like both Nanashi and Robin were ready to yell at people in support of the Spadamon, but Miyako was able to get them to hold back. How?
A simple raise of the hand. "Not every battle's ours." She spoke, quietly.
Moreover, amid all of...this, there were two plans to pick from. One that exposed a decoy crew to a lot of danger but allowed for a strategic retreat and recovery if used right...and another that focused on consistency. Miyako was fairly certain that if they followed the latter plan, then something going awry would be more catastrophic than if they had followed plan A.
To that end, she looked up to Carlos with a small smile on her face.
"You know, you look a little familiar, but...yeah. You might be on to something. I'm going to vote for plan A--the chance to recuperate for a little bit can mean all the difference to the Digimon, and we don't know EVERYTHING about what we're fighting. So, we'll need every advantage to press."

Kitt remained silent as Wrylia gave him a pat on the back, praising him for being violently outspoken. He wouldn’t acknowledge her compliment, nor turn his eyes to her. If she’d allowed her arrogance to temper, she’d actually take his rageful stance seriously, as he wasn’t trying to get on her good side.
But what pondered on the Spadamon’s mind was bringing Katt along for this mission. Unlike himself, who had a few dangerous missions under his belt, Katt had none for the most part aside from a few contract missions he had before they met. Additionally, if he and Wrylia got into it again, it would put the overall performance of the mission at risk, as teamwork from all parties was seminal, especially with what they were about to deal with. Another outburst like that, and Olegmon would have them walk the plank!
With Katt on the other hand, he held the urge to give that Kinkakumon the middle finger as he collected himself together. He’d never thought he would have to work with a nasty, barberic ogress that’s clearly high off her testosterone. “For an ogress that drinks swamp water, you’d think you'd has better breath,” he mumbled to himself.
As for the other members, he really didn’t have any strong opinions of them. Well, aside from the Kotemon that dismissed the Kinkakumon. That was enough to earn some positive points from him. For the Impmon, Dio and the Black Guilmon, Gio, the Black Coronamon gave them a sincere smirk, getting the feeling that he was going to get along with them just fine.
“A shield? Well, you look like a tough customer that can tank a blow or two from a Greymon, so yeah, shield away, tough guy!” Katt said to Gio with a thumbs up. This way, he won’t get as much of a bad hair day than what’s about to happen when they set off.
Going back to the mission at hand, there were two plans to choose from: Plan A having the group split into a three-member party onto a skiff and distract the Monster while the rest of the crew head off into the island. Plan B on the other hand, was a full-scale frontal assault. Kitt was certain that if they went with the former, then they can retreat if things suddenly go south.
He looked to Katt, who nodded to him in response, giving him the go-ahead to make the decision.
“Well...since we don’t know what we’re up against, going with the latter plan would be dangerous, so we’ll cast our vote for Plan A.” Kitt said. “Like what everyone else said, the chance to catch our breaths will allow us to re-strategize when the going gets rough.”

In a way, Wrylia was taking Kitt's stand seriously -- although perhaps not in the way that the cub would expect. A fight here wasn't okay, it was pretty quickly established, given the situation at hand - but Kitt nonetheless had the guts to stand up to her and make his stance on it all known, which she could respect. Now she just wanted to know if he had the strength to back up that fire..!
And Gio, too, seemed interested in having a duel with her later - to which the draconic ogress would briefly hum and raise an eyebrow, looking the BlackGuilmon up and down... Before grinning a little bit. "Sure, why not?" She'd respond, rolling her neck a little to crack it. "Let all of you come at me at once, once this mission is over, even..!"
But for now, she had to wait until after the mission to sate her curiosity and desire for combat. And it wasn't like the mission itself was going to be a bore, either, given that they were on one hell of a hunt for a massive digimon..! As Olegmon laid out the two options they had - Wrylia would waste no time in grinning widely and wildly, declaring "Let's take the fight to the bastard, rip it to pieces ourselves!"
She, however, would be in the minority - Kano sighing and shaking his head. "As nice as the all-out fight option sounds, to get it over with, the decoy mission definitely sounds safer in the long run." He stated, leaning back in the chair and crossing his arms a little. "If you wanna fight that thing head-on, then you're going to have to wait, Wrylia."
