Personality:
Areleh is, at his core, a man of nobility. That is not to say that he is aloof or snobbish; rather, Areleh is someone who believes, with every fiber of himself, that those who have have an obligation to help those who have not. Self-sacrifice is engrained indelibly into him, as it was through the actions of his mother that he survived the accident that gave him his scar and took her life.
Despite the loss of his mother so early in life, Areleh is someone who seems to have a hard time staying down or upset. Cheerful and optimistic, Areleh tends to leap first into helping people without considering the cost, either personally or long-term. However the pride he feels, knowing he made someone’s life a little better, continually pushes him onward, being a large contributor to his generally positive outlook on life.
Deep down, however, Areleh is a boy burdened with guilt; his survival came at the cost of his mother, and he never quite got past that. In many ways, her death fuels his every action as it is a belief that as she gave her life for him, he had an obligation to make the most positive impact with his life that he could if he did not want to tarnish her memory or sacrifice. As a result, he has a certain degree of self-loathing that manifests in a belief of innate worthlessness; if he is not helping other people, he has no worth. His sense of worth is derived from no intrinsic self-value but from his value to others through his labors and efforts.
Appearance:
Areleh is a tall, solidly built Japanese-American, two traits that make him stand out amongst his peers in Japan. His hair is largely brown and cut short, nearly shorn near the sides of his head. His bangs, however, are silvery-white and largely hang across his face without covering either of his dark grey eyes. A bilateral scar crosses the bridge of his nose, the scar itself having long faded, just under his eyes.
His facial features mirror that of his Japanese father, excepting the scar and a slightly wider jawline. However, a few traits from his maternal grandfather contribute to his unusual features; namely his abnormal height and physique. His chest and shoulders are noticeably broad, and there is a solidity to his musculature that speaks to more than an active lifestyle. As a result of his heritage, combined with an active outdoor lifestyle, Areleh's skin is a rich caramel in tone
Despite, or perhaps in spite of, these traits, Areleh tends to dress modestly with a dark pair of jeans and a simple white t-shirt. On occasion he will wear a black jacket with the sleeves rolled up, the body cut short to fall several inches above his waist, usually when he’s exploring away from the expectant eyes of his father. When he must handle rough terrain or equipment, he will often don a pair of fingerless leather gloves to protect the palms of his hands while keeping his finger dexterity intact.

Personal History:
Born in Tokyo, on the US Embassy grounds, Takashi’s early life was a relatively easy one. With one parent as part of security for the Embassy and another as an aide to a prominent ambassador, there was not much wrong with his early life. His parents loved and doted on him, and while he did not see them both all the time due to the nature of their work, he did not have any memorable gaps in their presence to be concerned about. He was well-cared for and had many summers filled with cherished times.
However, when he was 11, Takashi and his parents were in a horrific accident. Reacting a moment before the others, Takashis’ mother flung herself over him in an attempt to protect him. Although this would lead to his surviving the accident, it also led to her passing; an act that deeply affected both Takashi and his father.
Retiring from his job, Takashi's father and he attempted to move on with their lives. It was a difficult transition, even before considering the loss; with a single income, their lifestyle was similarly reduced and they had to make due in a very small apartment. Driven by a deep-seated notion of guilt and twisted obligation, Takashi began to throw himself into any activity which promised a way to help someone. At first, it was simple, childish things; take out the trash for the neighbors, run errands for elderly people, deliver packages for people. As he grew older and began to mature, this effort and belief began to evolve.
As high school neared its end, Takashi began to invest more time in outdoor, physical activities; hiking, rock climbing, cycling. While not dumb, Takashi's schoolwork was rarely a serious consideration as he poured all of his time and effort into physical labor and exercise. His dream was to become a rescueman, someone who saved people in distress wherever they were, whether that be on a mountainside, or out at sea, or within a burning building. Every life he could save would be more vindication.
