Cold was the first immediate sensation that flooded Takashi's senses when consciousness exploded back into his mind. It was everywhere; in his face, in his fingers, in his nose. With a cry of shock, he threw himself off the ground and found himself popping out of a vast field of snow. The whirlwind of emotions and thoughts flying through his brain was only amplified by the world around him. The trees were unlikely any he had seen; each of them was far, far taller than those in and around the city, and how in the world had so much snow fallen so rapidly?
Before he could begin to seriously panic, a curious noise began to tickle the edges of his hearing. Takashi blinked a few times and began to scan his surroundings as repeatedly the same two sounds seemed to beat away at the silence. With a start, he realized that the noise was coming from at his feet. He shuffled a bit in place, dislodging some of the snow from around his legs before he cautiously began to scoop the snow away to try and get a better look at whatever it was that was making the strange, repetitive noise.
As he brushed away more snow, he realized there was something warm and pulsing just under the snow, but still largely obscured. Tilting his head to one side in confusion, Takashi knelt down to get a better look when it suddenly began to wiggle. His curiosity only grew more intense as the dark grey thing began to wiggle more and more. No sooner did he poke it with one finger before the noise became abruptly clear as the grey mass suddenly shot out from under the snow with a shout.
With a cry of alarm, Takashi fell backwards into the snow while the grey thing began to frantically bounce in circles around him. "You're here! You're here you're here you're here you're here!" Its excitable cries seemed to effortlessly shatter the silence as it continued to bounce around him. Now that it wasn't buried in the snow, Takashi got a good look at it. Grey and spherical with two large antenna-like appendages, it seemed to be filled to the brim with energy. It continued its merry chant as it circled around him, apparently quite uncaring of the cold or his personal confusion. It seemed fortuitous that no one else was around to witness this strange sight.
"You're here you're here you're here you're really here! You're-" As it paused for just a moment in front of him, Takashi felt compelled to reach out and grab the bouncing thing and hold it still to get a proper look at its face. Two large, round red eyes stared up at him while a fanged, toothy grin was stretched across its face. "You're finally here, Takashi! I've been waiting for so long!" That the little creature spoke, and he understood it, was enough of a shock for Takashi, but that it also apparently knew his name sent him further into the snow as he stopped balancing on his feet.
"Y-You know my name?" He asked with equal parts confusion, anxiety, and interest.
"Of course I know you! You're my partner! Why wouldn't I know your name?" It seemed rather confused as to what sort of question that was, which only added onto the pile of things that Takashi did not understand about his predicament.
"But I don't understand. What are you? How do you know my name?"
