The answer to the very vague riddle written in the Japanese language pointed to the docks where ships that brought the food came from the USA, she nodded and replied calmly. “My train of thought was exactly that, so I won’t mind investigating the extra clues along the dotted path.” Her one left hand still held the map in front of her while the young woman used her free right hand to reach down inside the bag for one hot takoyaki, taking daintier bites of her lunch instead of scarfing it down like a wolf eating its meal before giving a second takoyaki to give to Vera. Though she may be a reserved person to the rest of her class, Viki was a bit unsure on how to start good conversations sometimes. Silence was not something she really liked, so the heiress started to speak of some small talk. “I find it difficult to befriend others because so many are intimidated by me or even too concerned about my status. It makes me a bit worried.” She looks down at the map, not being able to hide that her face did look a little down. "if they're talking about post war food aid, man this map must be old. Like "directly post war" old. Lord only knows what somebody in the late 40s or early 50s would have left hidden in the Japanese harbor." Zack said with a slight shiver, hoping that he wasn't about to lead this young lady into like...a bomb or something left over by some bitter old Japanese soldier.
"Could be some soldier left their medals there. Could be some historical diary or manifesto left after the end of the war years. Honestly whatever it is is probably relevant for historical reasons if nothing else." Marigold said, finishing the last of the vegetarian takoyaki order that she had gotten for herself, swallowing it and sighing as she settled into her seat in her father's bag.
"...you don't have to worry about me being intimidated." Zack said to Viktoriya, giving her a smile and scratching at the back of his head. he was genuine if nothing else, one of his best and worst qualities. "I'm an American, we don't place a whole lot of stock in royalty." Zack said with a wink, it was an obvious joke but he hoped that either way it would be enough to break the tension the girl was feeling.

She listened to Zack speak about the older map being made post war since hiding some sort of valuable trove of riches in the Japanese harbor was a bit strange. "I cannot imagine that treasure would be hidden for so long in a Japanese harbor, but if no one was able to find it, that could work in our favor." The Russian young lady replied, wondering if the sort of treasure they were finding with this map could be what Marigold said. Historical things from the 1940's or early 1950's could be interesting to study up close. A reassurance came from the American young man who spoke of Americans not putting stock in royalty. To the eyes of Americans, they probably didn't care much about what kind of family someone came from as long as they were able to work hard in their jobs. "Thank you for the reassurance. I'd like to be treated equally like all the others without the status my family once had." She responds with a grateful smile, knowing that one's family name didn't matter much to society now unless gatherings with high society were involved. The walk down to the Tokyo harbor was a long one (it seemed liked it had been months that they had been walking even) but they did manage to make their trek down past the city lights and bustling streets of the Japanese capital. A walk through the city really did remind someone that this was the biggest single city in the world. Even just a walk through its different wards was like walking through entirely different towns stitched together at the edges.
"Now remember, we're looking for some kind of clue that's been here since the war years. Tokyo's basically been built back up from the ground since then so any detail we can possibly find is going to be worth looking over. Firebombing campaigns leave precious little in place." Zack said with a sigh. It was sobering to remember that the reason Japan was so perfectly built, so modern and smooth and shiny was because all of the city's natural culture, its shrines, narrow streets and wooden buildings had been tossed on the fire as casualties of a fascist folly.
Not that he felt the need to explain to the Russian about the destruction inherent in fascism, of course.
