"... Tch."
This Renamon could talk tough, couldn't she? The Flamedramon seemed more ticked off than anything, but there really wasn't anything he could say to counter her points. It was all true - at least as far as he could tell - and the Penguinmon watching over the situation shook his head.
"Definitely a predicament - "
"No, there's not a predicament at all." The drake let out a snort, looking down at the Renamon. "All we have to prove is that we can handle it, right? I have no issue taking you on in a fight. But if our side wins, there's not going to be any promises of a portal or additional machinery, or anything. We win, we kick your ass out of the town, and you keep shush about everything around here."
"... I'd prefer it not come to this, but honestly, I don't see a better way." The Penguinmon shook his head, and pointed over a nearby snowbank. "No accidents - take this away from the tower and the town. And Renamon, I'd be careful with 'im: he's not the type to know when to stop in a spar." Their battlefield wouldn't be fancy: a mostly flat surface with ankle-deep snow. The town was behind the Flamedramon, and on the other three sides existed the endless vast frozen wasteland of the region.
The Flamedramon checked his gauntlets, sparks occasionally 'glinting' from them, as he kept his eyes straight on the fox in front of him.
"Last chance to change your mind, fox."

”That’s the idea.”
If the other side won? Silence considered for a moment that she wouldn’t be placing a portal, machinery or anything of the sort. If they won they’d just kick her out of town and she’d have to keep quiet. Which… She’d grit her teeth after a few moments. If pushed for it or if brought under scrutiny if this presented a continual issue she’d likely lose her license for the guild. Either that or they’d consider her a failure for not solving this. Either way it wasn’t a good things because there would be a chance that they’d send someone else anyways.
”Even if I keep quiet about it and the problem persists they’ll likely send someone out again and you’ll have to do this whole song and dance again. But I suppose you’ll have a solution for that when it gets there. But you have my word if you win I will do as asked.”
Silence wasn’t talking tough in the slightest, she was being honest and following her own personal code. She’d glance at where the penguinmon pointed. No accidents? It’s not like she would attack the tower if under this agreement. That being said there was nothing stopping her from attacking it now other than the smear on her honor and conversation. That and two armor champions would be a little much for a single rookie.
Silence was used to working in the snow so as they trudged out to it she’d look around. Looking awfully thoughtful; her cloak was right back where she needed it to be and the armored arm of hers was present once more. She’d turn her head as he told her ‘last chance’. She’d sigh a bit and turn about. Folding her arms.
”Look I don’t really know why you all are being so persistent on keeping that thing there and I’m not sure if I should ask. But just be frank with me man; why is it that this thing is worth your life why are you fighting for it? Are you afraid of something? Is there another problem nearby that this is keeping you safe from? I’m only doing what I see as right in the situation and if you’re not going to tell me these things I have to take the course of action set out in front of me.”
Silence was holding either of her hands in front of her, wide open, palms forward. She held no malice towards the people here and there was genuine concern on her face. She’d have a moment and then she’d just sigh.
”Not everything’s black and white, not everything is grey either. I want to help you and your people but I can’t just ignore what this tower is doing to the countryside. So I can’t change my mind unless you tell me what’s really going on here. Or if it’s just easier to fight and make me leave.”

As Silence attempted to reason with the Flamedramon... the armored Digimon actually gave a moment of pause. He finished double-checking his weapons, listening intently to the Renamon's explanation - before simply shaking his head towards the fox.
"That's just it. These damn cities would rather have us languish against the beasts and the wilds around here, instead of keeping a damn tool around to keep this city safe. Don't think we haven't heard about it before: a dark, malignant spire whose only purpose is to control the area around it and protect itself? Whoever was using them before is long gone, fox - the cities are just scared of these tools."
And with that, the Flamedramon spat. He tensed his legs, aimed his gauntlets behind himself like cannons - and launched himself, with the force of a rocket, right towards the Renamon. Armor Champion or not, the Flamedramon knew how to fight - and he knew his opponent was a mere rookie.
He didn't want to waste time. With the front force given, he'd extend one arm out to his right, and aimed to slam right against the Renamon with a brute-force, rocket-propelled lariat.

Silence didn’t feel like she was making any amount of headway with the flamedramon. It saddened her a bit given the situation. She knew that this could be resolved in some fashion where they all came on top and honestly for a few moments she felt like she had gotten somewhere. But hearing him talk about the cities eventually something clicked with her. The reason why they wanted her to leave, why they didn’t want her to push for this. The way they spoke about it… It was obvious to her now that they were hiding and the tower’s field had ousted people that didn’t want to be a part of the governments. It was a frustrating moment of clarity that came too late before she could even talk. The flamedramon shot forward with an impressive amount of speed. Sure silence was a rookie and therefore she was slower, weaker and just about less of a fighter in every physical way possible. But silence was a born and bred warrior, a mon that knew her stuff. She didn’t even hesitate to roll out of the way. A sword springing to her hand; it’s energy activation softly purring as it’s master controlled it with ease. With a simple slash she’d send an energy wave at the traveling flamedramon. Not expecting to hit it but control the direction of his next move hopefully. Log: Silence uses saberk to throw an energy wave at the flamedramon! Move: RAM UPGRADE - Saberk: Placing her two "pointer" fingers together this digimon draws energy from within and places them at their fingertips. Extending either hand outwards a blade is summoned from the pure energy of the creature. This blade can come in many shapes or sizes. But in the end the power of the blade doesn't change. It may even be two handed or one handed. This blade can shoot out small energy projection from along it's length, usually in an arc following a slash. While the distance of the energy can only reach out to about fifteen feet this allows for a limited use of projectiles from the blade itself. It's certainly strong enough to cut through steel, but anything stronger than that? The blade can shatter.

"Tch."
Flighty, wasn't she? The Flamedramon aimed his cannons forward after he soared past, using a small burst of flame to kill his momentum, before rolling once over in the snow. He'd turn to face his opponent, just in time for him to raise up his left gauntlet, the Saberk breaking over the armored exterior.
A deep scratch was left in the material, but the dragon seemed no worse for wear himself. If she was an energy-based fighter, it was time for a different approach: clasping his palms together, the Flamedramon's armor started to light up - and with an outward surge of energy, a 'fire shield' - a spherical veil of fire - roared to life around the Flamedramon.
Snow melted from his feat, a veil of steam flowing behind him as he stood up - and simply sprinted right towards the Renamon.
He wanted a close range fight. And Silence, well, she might not want to return that request.
