Clayton let out a small yawn as he walked down a pier, hands in his pockets joined by his Zubamon ally right next to him. "What are we doing here again Zu? Refresh my memory." Last he remember he had been dragged out of bed by the Zubamon and taken to the digital world, apparently being late for something that at the moment he had no memory of. At least for the moment given his tired expression it was pretty clear why.
"Didn't you say you had a Photographic memory, shouldn't you remember?" She asked confused looking up at the teen, Clayton gave a shrug shaking his head.
"I just woke up, my mind ain't all there yet." He didn't think one of his few days off was going to be spent on a pier, but looking up at a boat nearby Clayton blinked a few times waking up fully as he remembered. "Ah right, we were gonna if we could find any new spirits over on the isles. Working on that ship as body guards right?" There he goes, memory good as new. Almost.
"Yes, I also want to see if anyone recognizes me or Kote, it's quite the surprise to me that no one has yet..." The Zubamon seemed a bit downcast at that, it felt like she had been forgotten to the world. Though before she could get too sad about it Clayton reached down and patted her on the back with a smile.
"Don't worry, I promised I'd help you find your friends while we look for those spirits. We'll find them, you can count on me Zu." Clayton gave a smile and a thumbs up, while it didn't fully throw the cloud that was covered the Zubamon's core his optimism did help quite a bit.
With that the duo made their way onto the ship, not knowing if they were the only ones hired on. Apparently Zu being able to go champion was enough to help even if Clayton couldn't. Lucky for him.

Not far from the pier Clayton and Zu were on, Stacy, in the form of Nanamimon was swimming around her tail flipper lazily swishing back and forth as she paddled with her arms and legs this form's webbed fingers and toes working to her advantage. Though she could breathe underwater in this form the shadow of a boat peaked her curiosity so she swam up poking her head out of the water.
Her brown eyes soon caught sight of a human and after thinking for a moment recognized the young man. It had been a year since she last saw him and it was good he seemed to be doing well. Deciding to greet him she zipped to the pier at high speed only slowing down to gracefully leap out of the water landing on the ship on her feet after executing a front flip before returning to her human form. "Hello, Clayton. Remember me? We met last year on a Trailmon. It's me, Stacy." Realizing she had landed on a ship she hoped the owners of the ship wouldn't get too upset and if they did she could just use one of her water spirits to take to the sea again.

"Hey! I thought the Digital World was supposed to be bigger than this!" Stacy would hear from down the pier as Zack and Marigold meandered up at a slight jog in order to be able to catch the boat before it ran out. "You run into somebody you know and that makes us run into you. Funny old thing isn't it?" he said, freely showing off the edgeless, good natured part of him that made up more or less "all" of him when you got right down to it. Marigold, for her part, hovered in the air beside him, waving one of her bronzed leg claws at Stacy.
"Hi Miss Stacy!~" She said, waving with the enthusiasm of a child catching their favorite teacher in the grocery store her eyes glimmered and sparked with loving energy as the crimson scarf her father had gifted her when they had first met Stacy billowed in the wind off the water.
"What bring you folks out here? Excuse my rudeness, I'm Zack and this is my daughter Marigold." He said, turning to Clayton. "The two of us were taking the day to be tourists, but at least one of you has to have at least something planned. Humans in this world can't seem to go ten seconds without running head first into trouble."

Well things seemed like they would be going pretty smoothly for now, Clayton was walking up towards the Ship with his hands in his pockets. Only for something to suddenly come out of the water, Clayton barely could just look over as all of the sudden Zu grabbed his hand quickly changing into sword form with Clayton holding them up slightly. "Uhh wait Zu, I don't think it's." Apparently over reacting was one of the Zubamon's bad traits, to be fair though they were supposed to be body guards right now.
Soon though the figure revealed themselves to be a human, one that Clayton actually knew. "Wait, you know this person?" Zu asked from her sword form. Clayton easily swung the golden blade around and down away from anyone who could get hurt by it.
"Yeah, hey Stacy. It has been quite a while huh?" Clayton said with a smile holding the sword up a bit. "This is a digimon I met named Zu, she's a bit antsy but.. Oh?" Before he could continue a newcomer made himself known. Apparently one named Zack and his... Daughter? that seemed a bit odd but hey who was Clayton to judge.
"Nah no worries, Names Clayton Herron. Me and my friend here are going to be acting as body guards for a bit. Though mostly for a free ride cause I'm broke." Clayton said spinning Zu around for a moment and letting the sword rest on his shoulder.
"I told you not to buy that strange vehicle." The sword chastised the teen right in his ear.
"Yeah, Felt like a great idea at the time. hehehe. Oh right Stacy. What brings you here?" They seemed to have some time before the boat left, best to get to know some of the peeps on the boat better.

Perhaps leaping out of the water like she had wasn't the best idea as a dragon digimon with Clayton had transformed into a sword. Apparently digimon could do that as well. Fortunately Clayton was able to keep his companion from cleaving Stacy in two. Stacy knew better than to startle folks but somehow she wasn't able to resist springing out of the ocean. Oh well, what was done was done. Stacy looked at Zu and said "Nice to meet you, Zu. Please forgive me for startling you like I did. I assure you I mean no one any harm." Then looking back at Clayton, she said "Since it's been roughly a year since we first saw each other awhile fits. I've come a long way since the night we met when I didn't know I could become a digimon."
It seemed there were going to be more familiar faces as Zack and his Fanbeemon daughter Marigold came into view. Marigold greeted her with such enthusiasm that was super adorable. "There is no reason to be so formal with me, Marigold. You can just call me Stacy. I'm not usually the formal type."
When she was asked what brought her out there, Stacy smiled before she said "Nothing really brought me out here. I was just spending some time swimming in the ocean in the champion form of my water line. In other words I was here just hanging out just for the sake of it. Then I saw you, Clayton, and decided to say hello and here we are."

"Well hell, all three of us seemed to show up at the right place and the right time, seems like we might as well just take the hint and see what we can make of the day together." he said, patting Marigold on the head as he addressed the rest of the assembled "crew" "I hear the islands are gorgeous and who knows, we might stumble right into trouble and have a real adventure on our hands." he said, hefting the backpack he had slung over his shoulder which only he and Marigold would know contained his vigilante gear and plenty of plant based snacks for his excited plus one.
"Oh yea yea yea, let's go out and see what kind of adventure we can find!" She said, buzzing around Zack's head in a circle as he hummed and reached into his back pocket, fishing for his wallet.
"I can cover Stacy's ticket and we can all just see what we run into, Stacy can probably warn you that my kid and I don't really go into a situation any other way than head first." He winked to Stacy. The last time Stacy had seen him, the surprise single father had been an exhausted shadow but now he and Marigold seemed to be more energizing to one another than anything. Both positively glowing with an excitement and zest for life and the company of others. Marigold peaked down over the railing of the boat, evidently having zipped aboard while the "adults" were catching up.
"Come on, come on, Stacy. Please say yes, this is gonna be so fun!" She said, bouncing hyperactively in place

Thankfully Stacy seemed like she didn't mind Zu turning into sword form and getting pointed at her by Clayton. "It is fine, one can never be too cautious after all." Maybe it was a bit over cautions considering Clayton couldn't even really fight with the sword in human form but even still no harm no foul.
With Stacy talking about turning into a digimon Clayton nodded in agreement reaching into his pocket with his free hand and pulling out his own D-tector. "Yeah, back then I didn't really know I could either, Definitely quite the surprise when I first turned after all." While he mentioned that though Zack brought up stumbling into trouble. "Actually that's part of the reason I'm here, we're looking for something called a spirit totem. Best to cover all bases." Who knows it might be in the water, best to look everywhere he can.
His 'Kid' seemed really excitable at the moment, circling around Zack's head for a few moments buzzing happily, he then went on to explain he didn't go into any situation other then head first. "Heh, don't worry. That's how I do things as well. Straight on through." Even if it was sometimes a bad idea.
"Much to your own detriment." The sword once again chimed in as Clayton tossed her into the air, switching back to her digimon form before landing on the ground.
"Yeah, Yeah Zu. I'll be more careful this time alright?" After Clayton mentioned that though a digimon approached the group, it was a Hookmon glancing at the trio of humans and digimon for a few moments.
"Clayton right? Thanks for showing up at such short notice. Normally we wouldn't ask for help, it's always safe when we travel. I think the captain is just being a bit paranoid." It seemed like the captain was out of ear shot, either that or the Hookmon just didn't care if they heard.
"It's no trouble, oh my friend here doesn't have a ticket. Is it alright if we pay for her?" Clayton didn't really have the cash but he was still going to offer.
"It's fine, a group canceled on us just a little bit ago, already payed in advance. You can come on board if you want. Shouldn't be too long of a trip so just make yourselves comfortable." With that the Hookmon left the trio to their own devices.

Stacy smiled at the excitement to Marigold as she was buzzing around and Zack seemed to be more full of energy than he was when they first met. "Sounds like I'm not the only one that is used to finding trouble here. Heck, I don't even go out of my way to find trouble but when I do I help out where I'm needed. That is how I got into the superhero gig with my little brothers after all."
Turning to Zu, Stacy said "Don't worry, Zu, it never hurts to be cautious especially here in the Digital World where feral digimon tend to not be picky eaters."
When Clayton mentioned he was searching for Spirit Totems, she said "It is very possible that a totem could be out here, Clayton. I myself have found one of them underwater and the other one I still had to swim to a glacier to reach. That one was a crazy adventure in itself and made me glad I had assistance as things quickly got outta hand."
It seemed that no one had to pay for tickets as the passengers intended to board couldn't make it but payed in advance. "Looks like no one has to pay. I guess we're fortunate those other folks payed in advance."

Zack smiled at Stacy as they began to climb aboard, hefting his full backpack on one shoulder as he took stock of what the Hookmon was trying to tell them. Even if it WAS all rumor and superstition (it's not like nautical folks weren't known for that sort of thing) the idea of a hint of added danger steeled his resolve.
"Getting into the superhero gig, huh? Stacy, i don't know if I told you this when you and I last met, but you seem like a woman after my own heart." He said, bowing with an out sweeping hand in order to motion the other passengers aboard, bringing up the rear as was the polite thing to do. "Rumor or not though, if there's some sense of danger out here on the open sea, suppose I should change into my working clothes." He said, walking over to the outside wall of the boat's cabin and dropping the backpack in front of him. he unzipped the main section of the bag, pulling out his golden leather jacket and leggings with thick bronze colored boots, gloves and that distinctive custom motorcycle helmet. He dressed quickly, not putting on the helm just yet, holding it with the finger on one hand along the rim.
"Da da da da!" Marigold trumpeted, gesturing to her costumed father. "Ladies and gents, meet the Digi Rider. Yes the name is that cheesy and on the nose on purpose." She explained, Zack patting her on the head for the introduction, seemingly exactly what he had in mind.
"That's my girl."

Superhero huh, well that certainly was something you could do with that kinda power. "Eh, don't think I could ever be a Super hero myself. I'm mostly just out here to help some friends, well namely Zu at the moment." Clayton didn't think much about being a hero, he kinda just did what felt natural. Heroic or not.
"Didn't you elbow a Demidevimon to save a stranger?" He told her about that while traveling, that was a pretty interesting thing to have happen.
"It was a heat of the moment thing, brat got me good with his claws though. I'll play the hero if people need me too." He didn't even really think about helping in that situation or not, mostly just moved on instinct. "Work clothes?" Before Clayton could figure out what he meant though Stacy mentioned the spirits, even her own water one.
"Well you see, I kinda need a spirit to get another spirit. The one I found won't accept me until I beat it in one on one combat, it's way too strong for me at the moment though, my rookie form can't deal with it." Clayton side rubbing the side of his head, remembering where he got hit by the darn thing.
"Hasn't stopped him from trying though, 5 losses until he took my advice to go find more power." Yeah he got his butt kicked five different times, that definitely hurt the old pride.
"Almost had him on-"
"No you didn't." Zu shut down before he could even finish, which Clayton didn't have a response to. While that was going on the Digi-rider made his appearance known, Clayton just kinda stared at them for a moment, confused.
"Uhh looks good?" How was he supposed to respond to this, was this the superhero thing he was talking about.
"Do you humans usually dress that oddly?" It didn't sound like she was being rude despite the words, a genuine curiosity was evident in the Zubamon's voice. With that though the other passengers got on board and the Ship started moving towards its destination.

"I got into the gig as an a part of an unofficial team I started with my brothers. It allowed us to bond more than just the three of us being spirit wielders. Since they live in the United States I only usually see them when we cross paths in the Digital World." Stacy said before she looked back on the first gig they did together before she then said "Just don't eat digimon weapons unless you have no choice. I did that once in the ulltimate form of my holy line and while eating the Lillymon X's cannon led to a quick end to the fight it wasn't worth the heartburn I had later that night."
As Zack got into his working clothes she chuckled as she looked at her relatively humble AEGIS uniform complete with the black leather jacket she wore over it. "I think I'll only get into my work gear if we need to defend ourselves. Since I can't swim unless I use the digivolutions from my water line one of those forms will probably be the most likely choices out here." she said adjusting her light backpack her medication softly rattling in the bottom of the bag as the two bottles brushed against her first aid kit. As she was double checking her D-Tector was in the Digivice Cradle on her right arm where she left it. That taken care of she then heard of Clayton's issues with his spirits.
"That's odd. My spirit has never behaved that way but, then again, since my spirit is ancient and interacts with me with little more than instinctive nudges which still help me to this day. The forms I have so far seem to be the entire line of one individual and I still have to find the mega and super mega forms of both my holy and water lines. I also learned that this spirit has a dark line as well that I have yet to find any totems for." Stacy said as she realized she still had a lot of work to do.
When Zu asked if all humans dress that oddly, Stacy said "No, Zu, not all humans dress as oddly as Zack but there are some clothing combinations that make Zack's or the Digi Rider's wardrobe choice seem normal by comparison."

Zack actually seemed to beam when he heard Zu ask about his odd choice of wardrobe. He even did a little catwalk spin on one heel to show off the hand made but well stitched golden leather jacket that cast sparkles into the air from the sunlight beating down on top of it. Marigold seemed to get into the groove of showing off when she used one of her legs to flick the crimson billowing scarf around her neck, setting it to flap in the salty breeze.
"First of all, the Digimon that turns into a talking sword should probably take a couple long looks in the mirror before he starts taking the piss out of other people's fashion choices." he said, confidently flicking up the collar of his jacket, showing that the golden jacket collar had a stripe of the bronze accent color underneath. "Second off, no, humans don't normally dress like this, that's sort of the point of a superhero costume. They're meant to be symbolic and eye catching, serving as sort of an on-sight expansion on the persona of the hero themselves. As well as to conceal the hero's identity from people that shouldn't know." He said, kicking back against the cabin wall, his arms crossed out in front of him, still gripping the custom motorcycle helmet on the fingertips of one hand.
"Yea, plus we look AWESOME!" Marigold chimed in with her normal infectious enthusiasm, standing on the deck and pumping one of her legs in the air in excitement before skittering over to the edge of the boat and peering out over the side, watching, totally mesmerized by her own reflection in the crystal clear sapphire waves below.
"Well yes, and there's also that I look awesome in it. Part of being inspirational is looking cool, I suppose." he said, chuckling good naturedly at Marigold's contribution before he was really drawn in to the conversation of digital spirits. "Hey, I guess Marigold and I still have to go around the block a few times. This is the first I'm hearing of most of this stuff. Though, categorically, being able to henshin into a Digimon is quite literally the coolest thing I've ever heard and if I hadn't ended up with the sweetest little sugar bee of a partner I'd be feeling pretty ripped off right now." he chimed in.

Zack seemed to do a strut in front of the trio, showing off the outfit for all to see, at least to Clayton's knowledge he did seem to fit the bill of those superhero shows he used to watch as a kid, Zu also looked at the outfit curious about its design, right when Zack decided to start talking about what Zu had said, which seemed to get a notable grunt from the Zubamon. who waited for the human to stop talking before talking back. "First off, I am a girl. not a he. Secondly I am a species known as a Legend arms, we are known far and wide for our ability to change into weapons. To consider it odd is simply to view it from your understanding. Lastly I meant no ill will by it, I've no experience with your ilk aside from my interactions with this human. The term superhero is one I have been unaware of till now." She sounded like she was lecturing him but she truly meant nothing by the words, just an idle curiosity from her own lack of human knowledge.
"Yeah, I found her trapped in her sword form stuck in a rock, pulled her out and promised I'd help her look for her friend Kote, She's never interacted with humans before so if she asks something odd that's why." With that though Clayton just gave a smile and a thumbs up. "I think the outfit looks cool though, reminds me of those shows I used to watch as a kid."
Though with the conversation about spirits Clayton thought for a bit before shrugging. "I guess I don't have that, I've never gotten advice from my spirit. Well, nah I doubt that's what it was." There was the time he followed a Kotemon down a cave that wasn't there when he entered but that might've just been the teen seeing stuff.
Though as he was talking Clayton felt the boat shift a bit, stopping for a moment Clayton wondered what the movement was but ignored it. It seemed to stop as fast as it came.

The combination of Zack's improvised fashion show and calling Zu by the pronoun 'he' made Stacy facepalm. Yes Zack meant no harm but it was clear he could get himself in trouble in many ways. "I can see how it could be easy for a digimon's gender to be interpreted wrong since some species I've seen so far can be genderly ambiguous. I know that first hand from the forms I take. Some of my forms I can be mistaken for a male for example." Stacy said to the Legandary Arms digimon. "Still cool that you can turn into a sword though, Zu. I bet having the ability to change forms like you can has potential for more than just combat use."
As for myself I don't really need a secret identity since I just take on the name of the form I digivolve into and not all superheroes in cartoons and comics have secret identities. One thing that is common is how they dress being a statement of some kind." Stacy said to Zack.
Then the boat briefly shifted causing Stacy to become alert and wary. Even though movement was brief she was still on high alert as her left hand rested on her D-Tector resting in the Digivice Cradle on her right wrist. She looked out at the sea as if ready for anything.

Zack looks deeply stricken by the misunderstanding, going even paler than usual. he walks up as close as Zu will comfortably let him get. And he bows. Fully bent, ninety degrees at the waist with one of his arms crossed over his torso in the traditional knightly style.
"Misgendering of someone is never acceptable, I was unaware and for that I deeply apologize. What I apologize more for is for the misunderstanding of my intention. What was originally intended as sarcastic banter obviously crossed a line I was unaware of and I can only humbly ask for your apology. My intention is never to harm, belittle or insult especially not someone obviously as skilled and honorable as yourself." He said, remarking all of that, seemingly in a single breath before he stood up, nodding his head to Zu and stepping away in case he was still unwelcome, walking over to the cabin wall and leaning against it again, quietly reaching into his pack and pulling out a comic to silently flip through.
Marigold sighs, buzzing up to the assembled folks and directing herself at Zu in turn, smiling softly and looking over at her father.
"He really didn't mean anything by it. He'll often stick his foot in his mouth without meaning to. I promise he has the best of intentions. In fact I think some days that that's all that he has, honestly." She chuckles softly.
