"Hana, I want you to take a good hard look at the neighborhood around you. Law and order gave up on this place a long time ago. Even if we do intervene and stop this guy, the fact that I'm involved at all makes him impossible to convict and a Private detective doesn't have the power to arrest people anyway. If we find him, the only option we have is to stop him ourselves." he said, very frankly explaining for her why they had to do it the way he wanted to do it. His hands swept out, gesturing to boarded up windows, tagged walls, broken homes and shattered lives seemed to come off of the street here like leaves blowing in the wind. "The cops don't care about a neighborhood like this, cops never care about neighborhoods like this. Did it ever occur to you that I was actually ABLE to steal that gem? Iff they actually gave half a crap about poor families being robbed of their only valuables, I wouldn't have been able to get onto the same street. I know you're trying your best to do what you think is right, but from what I know about you there's no way you're naieve enough to think that there is a snowball's chance in hell of this guy EVER getting caught. Even if he ends up killing someone."

"Maybe. Maybe not. But I still do my best to see the positive side of things. I still have faith in the justice system, that people can do the right thing to make the world better, and. Because if I don't focus on the positive? If I give in and see the world as the crapsack place you're describing, where even the upholders of the law have given up on it?
That would break me. Because if the world is so broken that everyone's just giving up and the only way to do anything good in this place is to take the law into our own hands like you, then what's the point in even trying?! Because justice is abolutely meaningless and we're all already screwed!" Hana ranted, tears streaming down her face as her entire worldview got torn to shreds. This was Hana at her most emotionally vulnerable, and her partners could only stare at the girl in wide-eyed shock and concern.
Hana just stared at the vigilante standing in front of her, silently waiting for his response.

Zack couldn't argue with that, he didn't WANT to. he was a hopeful sort, really he was. The kind of optimist that cynics would swear either didn't exist or was made up exclusively of idiots and morons. his hope simply didn't extend to what he saw as a decadent, built up, over inflated system that involved protecting itself, the people above them and not much else.
"Hana...what's happening right now can't wait for the cops to get off their rears. Even if you do want to carry this on without me, after I'm finished with it. See "justice" done. That's fine. I won't stop you. i don't think I can. But I need you and what you bring to the table to stop this guy in the here and now. Will you help me?" He said, reaching out a gloved hand to shake. They didn't agree on this, maybe they never would. but they might agree on one thing. That the victims in a case like this, any case like this, had to come first and foremost, above everything else.

"Alright, fine. We'll find this guy your way, and then after we find them my friends and I will do what's needed to make sure the cops find 'em and nab 'em." Hana offered, gesturing to her and her two partners. "If this thief somehow manages to squirrel their way out of prison after that? Then we make sure they won't hurt anyone again, by any means necessary. That sound like a fair compromise to you?"
"However you guys decide to do this, Rush and I will have your backs no matter what." Data said, placing a hand on Hana's shoulder.
"Just... maybe we can at least try to do things the legal way first in the future? If legal doesn't cut it, then we can get... creative and try doing things your way." Hana added, hoping that Zack would be willing to try and meet them in the middle.

Zack pursed his lips, crossing his arms over his chest and staring Hana up and down for a long moment, analyzing her with an intellectual edge that seemed a tad out of character for the personable, passionate but altogether less than witty personality he had broadcasted to her before. He nodded, leaning back against the wall.
"So long as we can stop this guy, get these people back their lifelines, I don't care what you do after that." He said, nodding, tacitly agreeing to the plan, for now. "I'm not exactly sure what you think the "legal" way is for a vigilantie and a private detective is in future but I'm sure we can at least try and cross that bridge when we come to it." he said, pushing off of the wall and turning out to face the city through the open end of the alley. "We can always agree on one thing. The victim comes first. So long as that's true, we're on the same side, no matter if we agree."
