They made her friend cry. Gihai couldn't understand why Midori was crying when it was just one hit but...something about it only served to drive the Guilmon further. The Wormmon was so small compared to the Renamon, and yet he just...thrashed her around like that...
...Why did this feel so sickening? "You'll pay a hundredfold, you leave her alone, you stupid fucking furry!" ...Fighting was not really something Gihai was all that used to yet, and that sounded a lot better in her head but her voice was hoarse, tears in her eyes.
The fact there were two attacks coming her way was inherently problematic. Right now, her focus was on Renamon, so Sagomon's spray of water collided with her to send her right into Renamon's flurry of kicks. Bruises abound. Lots of them, in fact, but she was in a nice spot to counterattack by jabbing up her claw at the Renamon!
It would, in theory, be a powerful blow if it connected. But, the key term here was if. She was trying to power through all the pain just to give one big attack at the Renamon to hopefully send him back! "Y-You're both gonna pay!" Passives: Corrosive! [Passive]: Venom and acid are this Guilmon’s specialty, so while she boasts no fire, her attacks sting in a different way. Every attack of hers, save for Acid Blast, inflicts a stack that reduces her foe’s defenses by 8%, capping at 40%/5 stacks. If no stacks are added for two posts, the number begins to go down by one for every post. Also, she can only inflict one stack at a time. Gihai takes BOTH hits for ouch amounts of damage! She's crying now, how could you? She also tries to slap Renamon with Rock Breaker!
Rock Breaker: A ferocious swipe, or jab of the claws means that anything short of the hardest granite is going to crumble before Gihai! Or be in immense pain, one of the two. Two post cooldown.
Cooldowns: Acid Blast: 2/3 Tail Flip: 1/1 Rock Breaker: 0/2

Even though she was putting up a good fight, it looked like Gihai was having a hard time. Midori sniffled her little worm tears as she saw her new friend get pummeled by kicks and water alike. Midori didn't think that she would ever be able to take that kind of punishment, so she was definitely thinking highly of the green dino right now.
But to her credit, Gihai was laying quit the hurt on the top-tier Fox Digimon. He wasn't exactly made out of granite, but thankfully he didn't shatter. "Augh!" He profoundly declared while getting shoved back, using the force to somersault away so he could at least fall back while still looking awesome. But he looked like he was ready to charge at the Guilmon once more.
But while Gihai was busy putting the Renamon in immense pain, the Sangomon was getting ready to fire some more coral shots out at her while she was distracted.
Midori... had to do something! She didn't want to jump in the way, because that would be painful, and she didn't want to get hurt anymore. But... there was something inside of her that just seemed to know what to do. "N...Nature String...!" She cried out, rather pathetically, really, but she shot out a web at the shell-covered little racist. It stuck to him cleanly, and the Wormmon suddenly jerked her head away, causing the Sangomon's body to twist just as he fired off his shot.
The fragments of coral shot out, missing Gihai by a fair amount... and hitting the Renamon directly in the chest. The unsuspecting fox Digimon let out a choking gasp as the coral spikes lodged into his torso, unable to speak, but instead collapsed to one knee while giving Sangomon a "What the hell, man!?" look of raw hatred.
Meanwhile, all Sangomon did was squirm around, trapped in a web at the moment. - Renamon gets more hurt by Gihai's attack. He's a little frail, so he's taking some serious hits.
- Midori webs up Sangomon, making him miss his attack against Gihai and instead hitting Renamon, hurting the Fox even further. Also he's immobilized for a turn. Sadly, not even a top-tier can win a doubles match with a trash partner.
- Turns out that Renamon's a filthy doubles casual who didn't realize that Team Attack was on, so he's too surprised and in pain to attack someone this turn.
Moves used:
[Active] 1. Nature String - Spits out a webbing that surrounds one enemy, immobilizing them for 1 post. Afterwards, the web suddenly sprouts various vines that wrap around the target, reducing their speed by 50% for another 2 posts. Duration: 3 Posts Cooldown: 4 Posts
Coral Shot - Sangomon fires off a barrage of coral spikes at an enemy. 1-post cooldown.
C&D's
Midori Nature String - 1/3 Duration, 0/4 Cooldown
Sangomon - +20% Defense, -10% Speed Coral Shot - 0/1 Cooldown
Renamon - -16% Defense Leaf Shine - 2/2 Multi Shine - 2/2 Toryah! - 2/2 Top-Tier Combo Ready!

Noises that indicated pain were likely an indicator that Gihai was doing something right, truth be told she was very certain a good part of this was a mistake. Yet to admit that would be a display of cowardice. Gihai was not a coward, Gihai was Gihai.
She had been expecting more pain, more attacks being slung her way but such a thing never really happened, why...? A quick, cursory look around the proverbial field revealed that Midori had pulled a rather ingenious usage of a string of silk and caused the Sagomon to strike their own 'teammate.'
The Renamon was on a knee. He'd likely get back up if nothing was done. However. Gihai was not the kind of Guilmon to do nothing. With a scream of hysterical, tear-filled rage, the Guilmon would rush the Renamon down, before repeating her tail flip from earlier, hopefully striking with enough force to down the Renamon for the moment while Sagomon was still occupied. Relevant Passive:
Corrosive! [Passive]: Venom and acid are this Guilmon’s specialty, so while she boasts no fire, her attacks sting in a different way. Gihai decides to capitalize on the lull and try downing Renamon with a sick tail strike to the face. Thwwwwaaaap! She's also like. Going through a lot. She might need a breather after this.
Tail Flip!: Gihai does a really hecking SICK backflip and thwaps her opponent with her tail. One post cooldown. It's very annoying.

Things were finally looking up! Gihai was looking prepped to take out the fox dude while the mollusk dude was still trapped in the web. But then... Midori started getting a bad feeling. Suddenly, the Renamon began to move around back and forth, dash-dancing like a madmon and ran out of the way of Gihai's tail strike, dodging it completely. "Fool! Now it's my turn to counterattack! I hope you're ready for a real attack!" It looked like the Renamon was going to do the same thing to Gihai that hurt Midori so much, and unless Gihai L-canceled her aerial, she was going to be in for a world of hurt! And Gihai was already a little beat up! She didn't want to see her get bullied anymore!
Midori didn't know how she managed to move her little worm body so quickly, but she flew through the air, spitting out a bunch of webs along the way! Only problem was... shooting webs while moving forward... kind of got Midori caught up in her own webbing! But the little worm didn't stop! She kept shooting more and more webs until Midori herself was trapped inside of a cocoon of her own making, but continued rocketing forward.
"Now you're mi- huh?" The Renamon unleashed his mighty combo attack, only to get blocked by Midori's tiny cocoon body. And despite the Renamon's immense shield pressure, the Wormmon's web barrier didn't break! And by the end of the combo, Midori's squishy little cocoon was stuck to the Renamon's foot. "What the hell is this gross thing!? Get it off, get it off!" He started kicking around in the air, but the cocoon wouldn't come loose. He turned over towards Sangomon who had broken free from the webbing binding him, though there was still a good deal of it hampering his movement. "Sangomon! Stop standing around doing nothing and get this thing off of me!"
"I've been busy... and don't tell me what to do!" The Sangomon muttered, still complying with Renamon's request by shooting a stream of water right at the Renamon's foot. The jet stream was more than enough force to send Midori's cocoon flying... along with a good chunk of the Renamon's fur that was still attached to the webbing.
And then Renamon let out a comical yelp of pain as he hopped around on one foot while nursing his pained leg. He really should have turned his legs into metal, or something.
Meanwhile, the cocoon crashed into a tree, the webbing slowly dissolving and revealing a very dizzy and motion-sick Wormmon. "I don't wanna go back on that ride..." She complained weakly. - Renamon dodges Gihai's tail, and prepares his 3-hit combo to pummel Gihai, but gets blocked by Midori's [Cocoon Veil]. Thankfully, Renamon didn't have the matchup knowledge to know that an obscure low-tier like Wormmon's ability blocked ALL attacks in the round, and wasted his precious combo.
- Sangomon breaks free of the immobilizing web, but is still hampered by the web's lingering effects, lowering his speed. He fires off his water attack to get Midori off of Renamon, taking a few handfuls of fur along with him. Renamon is now in pain, and probably really vulnerable for an attack right now. For realsies this time.
Moves Used... meh. Feeling lazy. Midori's omni-shield, a bunch of moves Renamon used earlier, and Sangomon's 0-cd water attack. It's a battle between rookies. Not that complicated, yo.
C&D's
Midori Cocoon Veil - 0/3 Nature String - 2/3 Duration
Sangomon - +40% Defense, -60% Speed Coral Shot - 1/1 Cooldown (Ready!)
Renamon - -16% Defense Leaf Shine - 0/2 Multi Shine - 0/2 Toryah! - 0/2

This was being prolonged so needlessly, why wouldn't this dumb fox just...get launched away? Forever? Gihai found her tail not making contact, period. She quickly interrupted the rest of the flip in order to place herself back on the ground and hopefully try to mitigate as much of this fox's tier whore bullshit as she could, but...!
Miraculously, Midori had managed to come in exceeding handy. She flew, spinning webs around her as she intercepted the Renamon's attacks with literally zero consequences! Couple this with the general incompetence of Sagomon, and this lead to a chain of events that ended with a truly vulnerable Renamon.
The distressed Guilmon was not one to waste time, nor effort. She was one to act. She always had been. She opened her mouth to fire forth a ball of sizzling, corroding acid at the Renamon to hopefully give more of him a bad fur day, and hopefully get him out of this fight once and for all. All the while, the lizard, beaten as she was, went to stand in front of Midori!
...Gihai you don't have any defensive abilities, what are you doing...? Relevant Passive:
Corrosive! [Passive]: Venom and acid are this Guilmon’s specialty, so while she boasts no fire, her attacks sting in a different way. Every attack of hers, save for Acid Blast, inflicts a stack that reduces her foe’s defenses by 8%, capping at 40%/5 stacks. If no stacks are added for two posts, the number begins to go down by one for every post. Also, she can only inflict one stack at a time Gihai is in awe at the hijinks, and uses Acid Blast to try finishing Renamon if she even can! Become bald, motherfucker!
Acid Blast: Gihai opens up her mouth as a glowing green ball is discharged for one foe, the blast corroding at her target’s defenses and causing severe damage if she manages to hit with this. For two posts, the foe suffers a 20% reduction to their defenses. Three post cooldown.
Cooldowns: Tail Flip: 1/1 Rock Breaker: 2/2 Acid Blast: 0/3

Gihai's glob of acid struck true, the Renamon screaming out in sheer agony, unable to take much more. Or... really, any more at this point. His data began to shimmer and fall apart as he collapsed to the ground. With the last of his strength, he looked at his two green combatants, murderous fury in his unfocused eyes. "You bastards... When I come back, I'm gonna find you again... then I'm gonna tear you apart limb from limb... and then when you're begging for the sweet release of death I'm gonna..." But by that point he had vanished into tiny cubes of data that scattered like dust in the wind.
...Which left a particularly horrified Midori as she shivered in place. That fox creature... while definitely not a nice creature... he just died in front of her eyes.
But there was still one person attacking them left, wasn't there? Midori looked around for the coral baddie, only to find him... putting his tendrils up into the air.
"Yeah... no. I'm not gonna deal with this shit anymore," Sangomon stated. "I was just gonna grab a couple of filthy humans, maybe get rich and famous or something, and live the rest of my life as some guard captain or something... But this ain't worth it, man. I'm gonna like, do what Grandpa Shellmon told me to do and make ice sculptures, or something..."
...Huh. Did that mean the scary part was over now? But there was something Midori was forgetting... "Oh no! My friends! Come back, please! I need to ask you where my friends are!"
But it was too late. The author had already removed the Sangomon's text color from her saved colors, and there was no going back.

It worked. The acid ball had struck true this time, eroding away at the Renamon's defenses further! Surely that would mark the end of this battle, would it not? It would totally mean that he was out, right?
Well, Gihai's hopes were too true. He was out. Out of any life left to live. The Guilmon watched as the Renamon fell to the ground, his very form unraveling as he cursed both herself and Midori. And...she couldn't process exactly what she had just done, until it just...hit her.
She killed someone.
Whether she meant to or not, no matter what, she killed someone. The Guilmon stared at where the Renamon once was, staring at her claws for a moment before she peered to Sagomon, wordlessly for the moment. "H-Her friends, though..." She murmured as she watched Sagomon get the fuck out of dodge.
Gihai was becoming more aware of a lot of things. How long had she had tears in her eyes? Why did she feel pain? Why? No, no, calm down. The Guilmon took a deep breath before she looked around.
Was there a trail to be seen with regards to where Renamon and Sagomon had come from?

The Renamon sure was mean before he died, though. It was enough to shake Midori up quite a bit, even thought all the Renamon did was make threats... and hit Midori a bunch. She supposed that the Renamon really stayed true to himself until the very end. Still... if Midori was a little shaken up, Gihai seemed really bothered by it. Either that or she was in a lot of pain. She had gotten hurt a whole bunch during that fight. She was crying and everything.
"I'm sorry..." Midori began, crawling up the green dino's leg and torso to get close to her face. She would try and wipe away the tears but... short, stubby hands, and all. "Umm... thank you for helping me... I would have gotten really, really hurt if you weren't there, and..." Midori had no idea how to make her feel better, but she had to try. Hell, she began to cry a bit herself, because she was going to have to ask Gihai to get herself even more hurt, and that made her sad. "I'm really sorry! But please help me even more! I have to help my friends, and I know I can't do it on my own! You're probably hurting a lot right now, and... and..."
Midori swallowed all her fears, pride, and anxieties as she began to talk extremely fast. "You won't ever have to see me again after this and you can hate me for the rest of your life and if someone tries to bully you can send them over to bully me instead I don't mind because I'm a really bad person for making you do this and I deserve a whole bunch of bad stuff for asking for your help and I'm sorry again and please help me find my friends and I'm sorry I'm really sorry!" She caught her breath, giving Gihai ample time to notice a trail of slime that the Sangomon left behind when they arrived. And judging by the fact that it wasn't in the direction that the coward ran, it was probably the right way to Midori's friends.

...Despite having actually gone and killed someone, the Wormmon was still...thanking her? Why...? "I...I wanted to protect you. I didn't want to know what they were going to do to outsiders, and...Y-Yeah." She wasn't sure how to respond. Period. She wasn't sure how to respond to any of that.
"I-I'll help you find your friends, but..." The Guilmon swallowed. "I-I won't hate you. I refuse to. You...You haven't done anything wrong. You're not a bad person at all, you're just someone who wants to find their friends...."
The way this worm was talking...she really did think herself a bad person, huh? Just for needing help? That was kind of sad. Even for Gihai that thought was a little depressing. The Guilmon would try to get the Wormmon off of her face, first and foremost. Just. Grab her, set her on the ground if she can.
And the Guilmon'd try giving Midori a hug. "You're not a bad person. You're Midori. Please don't...say those things about yourself, okay?" The lizard would get to her feet, and point to the trail of slime mentioned earlier.
"So, I saw that while you were...saying all of that stuff...I think that might be where Sagomon and Renamon came from. I vote following that." Gihai nodded firmly! Before she began marching off in that direction. "Come on, you're helping me!"

Gihai really was a good person, for trying to pretend that Midori wasn't a really bad person for doing all of this. If she wasn't really a bad person, then why did she get turned into some squishy, gross bug creature instead of like, a majestic bird or cute kitty or something like that? Clearly this was Midori's punishment for being awful. So awful, that Yukihara-san and Akabane-san were probably in danger, too. Midori was probably reincarnated as a worm to protect them, but she had probably already messed that up the instant she came here!
But Gihai was right in that they had a job to do! So even though it was probably Midori's friends in danger, Midori would help Gihai who was helping Midori! If Midori looked at it that way, then it didn't seem like she was gonna fail at all! So Midori decided to believe in the Gihai who believed in her, and followed behind her while watching out for any potential dangers the might be around! You know, since Midori was so familiar with the Digital World and she'd definitely be able to tell whether something seemed out of place!
And following the path, it didn't take them long to hear others before they could spot them.
"Wh-what the hell do you think you're doing, you gross-ass lizard? Get away from us before I rip off that horn and stick it up your-" It was a girl's voice, suddenly cut off by a loud smack. That voice definitely belonged to Aoi!
"Aoi!" Another girl's voice cried out. And that was Rion! "...Let's stop antagonizing them, alright?"
"Both of you, be quiet! I'm trying to concentrate!" A voice Midori didn't recognize. Midori climbed up a tree to get a better viewpoint, seeing her two friends. A young girl in blue and white, with black hair tied into pigtails and another girl wearing red and pink. Both of them had their hands tied behind their back with what looked to be vines. "You're going to tell me all of your secrets, humans! Even if I have to pull them out of your minds!"
"We've already told you everything we know!" Rion exclaimed, exasperated. "We don't know anything about what's going on! My friend and I just suddenly appeared here and then you guys showed up!"
There were two Digimon nearby. One was a pink-scaled lizard with white fur coat with striped on it. He hard a large, pink horn sticking out of his head. And the other looked to be a boy that was up in some weird cosplay. He had these... pinwheel-like blades at his side, a long, metallic scarf that flew down his back, and... was wearing what looked to be a grenade for a necklace. Midori didn't know what to make of these guys, but Gihai would possible recognize these Digimon as Psychemon and Ignitemon.
Midori immediately wanted to scream out for them, but her voice froze up. If she caused a lot of attention, then there might be a fight again. And Gihai was still hurting. And there was a chance that Aoi and Rion could get hurt, too.

Little did anyone know, there was a certain truth to life that not even Gihai herself knew about! It was simple. Gihai was usually right. Usually. Except when she wasn't. Regardless, she had to steel her nerves for whatever lied ahead of them.
They wouldn't be on the path for very long, if the voices ahead were any clear indicator. Gihai scuttled up the tree (well, it was more like she jumped up, and clambered up discretely) with Midori, peering down.
Those were...
"Oh, those definitely look more like humans...Your friends, not the Ignitemon there. Also, that Psychemon looks like a tool..." She was still hurt from the previous fight, but...she really didn't want to be around sitting idle while they were all tied up like that at the mercy of some vaguely threatening mind reader.
Gihai hated those kinds of people, they were dumb, smug, and really only had one real personality trait to them.
So, what did the emerald lizard decide to do? She hopped down, very casually. "Hey there, what's going on in this neck of my woods?" The words stated upon landing were delivered with a very cheery candor.

While Gihai could casually hop down and approach these cruel Digimon who were attacking his friends, Midori couldn't quite work up the courage just yet. She froze in fear as she watched her new friend approach the enemies, as well as Midori's old friends.
The Guilmon took the couple by surprise, but while the Psychemon visibly flinched at her arrival, the Ignitemon didn't seem to be affected very much. He waved to Gihai, a smile on his face. "Oh, nothing much. We're just patrol who managed to find a couple humans wandering around." He gestured towards the two bound girls, who were looking over at Gihai with a look of horror. Probably because they just saw one more monster. Ignitemon looked back at the two humans' reactions, then back to the Guilmon. "Things have been tense lately, you know? And we're just about in the area making sure that these humans don't have any more friends about. We'll try not to be in your business for much longer! I swear!"
"So unless you have any information, leave us alone and let us do our jobs!" Psychemon called out while still focusing most of his attention on Aoi and Rion. His horn began to glow, and whatever he was doing, the two girls looked to be in extreme discomfort.
"Pychemon, that's ain't no way to talk to someone!" Ignitemon chastised, then turned back to Gihai. "Sorry about 'em. He's a little zealous. You know how these young Rookies are nowadays. Fresh off from being a Tsunomon and wanting to show the world how awesome his new moveset is. But he's a sweetheart once you get to know him!" He gestured towards a fallen log where an Infinistore sat. Ignitemon opened it up, pulling out some bandages and what looked to be a couple of hamburgers. "Gotta say though, you're looking pretty roughed up. You come into any dangers nearby? If you want, I can radio out to some of my comrades, see if they can take care of it."
Meanwhile, Midori gulped down every last bit of courage she had, and began to crawl around the area to get as close to Aoi and Rion as possible. She had absolutely no plan in this. She didn't want to leave Gihai alone with these two, though, but she needed to look after her friends, too! But she didn't dare approach them, though. Psychemon was still nearby, and she didn't have the courage or the strength to pick another fight!

"Tense how...?" She peered to the humans, tilting her head. "...They look like they're just kids. Kinda harmless if you ask me..." They really did--Gihai didn't see much use in assuming humans were inherently harmful to the world despite the multitude of potential problems they could cause if, say, a bad egg were left to their own devices.
It didn't justify just tying them up like that, though...
"Yeah, I was kind of like that too--I wanted to show everyone how to shoot acid, but I ended up just melting a bunch of things. He'll grow out of it, I'm pretty sure!" As for dangers? She needed to think quick on this.
Because one of his comrades was dead and the other screwed off back to town.
"Nothing I couldn't handle myself--just the usual Goburimon trying to whack me after failing to rob me. So, how'd humans end up here, anyways?"
Genius.

"They found those intruders way back when, and things have just been tense, remember?" Ignitemon stated like it were obvious. "It was on the news and everything! I thought everyone on ElDoradimon had heard about it!" His suspicions seemed to be growing, and then they increased as Gihai commented on the children.
"Children or not, humans or humans. They're a lot more dangerous than a Digimon child is! They can make their partner Digimon become unbelievably powerful, and that poses a serious risk!" Ignitemon explained as if he were quoting some kind of propaganda. "These ones seem new to the Digital World, and I don't think they pose a risk just yet, but if you give them time, they'll no doubt be a threat to us, and maybe even the entire Digital World! It's best to just lock them up for the time being until the higher-ups decide what to do with them!"
Everything else seemed to check out, though. Ignitemon didn't seem to be too wary of Gihai's explanation for her current status. "Some Digimon ain't the kindest. But #notallEldoradis are like that. And as for how the humans got here? We're still trying to find that out."
It seemed like Gihai had ingratiated herself with the group. So maybe their guard would lower a bit more! Midori crawled along edge of their little gathering, trying to be as sneaky as possible. Turns out her tiny green body was good for a forest stealth operation! She managed to crawl her way up a tree that was directly above Psychemon, Aoi, and Rion! Now... if only Psychemon were distracted, maybe she could use her webs to get the two to safety somehow! Like if she were Spiderworm or something!

"Mmm...I don't get much in the way of news, but...Depending on the nature of the intruders, I guess I can sorta get it." She was really just. Trying to present the image of someone who lived under a rock and had come out to deal with a disturbance.
Of course, this was Gihai. Gihai was not a very good actress. "...Did you ever consider the fact they could become unbelievably powerful and serve as allies? I mean, that sounds pretty cool--but that's also just me. Other than that, there's also just...sending them home BEFORE they become a risk, too." Gihai mused...
"Some aren't the kindest, sure, but it's better to try than not. Sadly, trying didn't amount to a lot..."
Of course, the musing was interrupted by a boisterous, and quite youthful "Hiiiii!" As a strange Triceratops looking motherfucker who looked more marketable than a flying fish ran up to the gathering!
...Before he tripped on a rock, and fell flat on his face. Rather comical. "Owwww..." The Digimon groaned, as a more recognizable one--a black Shoutmon, strode up and jabbed the downed Rookie with his...microphone.
"And this is why you don't run off on your own, you just end up looking dumb." He peered over to the humans, and the gathered Digimon. "...Ah. Outsiders. Sorry, my charge and I were just passing through. Hope we're not interrupting." They weren't apologizing if they were.
