Both of her parents noted that their daughter was absolutely gone from their view though Uther had said Viktoriya had gone to explore the mansion on her own. “Oh dear, she must have been bored out of her mind. Thank you for telling us nonetheless.” Elizabeth replied, her worries evaporated as she turned to her husband who was expecting that his daughter would be doing something like that at a party. Meanwhile, the heiress saw the appearance of the young man who welcomed her parents to the party and let out a relieved sigh. “I accept your apology nonetheless, so I thought you’d find me practicing my favored sport in peace. Were my parents worried that I have gone off by my lonesome?” She replied in a curious manner. Both of her parents worried so much about her safety, but the young woman had Godfrey cover any threats should he know his own mistress was in danger.

Uther and Kushinada chuckled politely at Elizabeth's remark about how Viktoriya must have been completely overtaken by boredom to have slipped away to do her own thing as she was currently doing and then, Kushinada remarked
"Young Ms. Romanova must have had her fill of spending time with us older generation folks and thus, she has made us bereft of her charming company. That said, our Arthur will keep her safe even if all else fails, so you both can rest easy. I daresay we ought to be hearing the good news from him fairly soon."
As if on cue (but not really of course), a beeping noise was heard issuing from Uther's smartwatch and Arthur's voice came through hot on that signal's heels, his tone crisp and to the point
"Ms. Romanova has been located successfully and her safety status has been subsequently verified successfully as well. Additionally, the late arrivals have been given the appropriate reception. Now preparing to move the security code from R3 down to G1 and for transporting her back to HQ shortly. Kirk out."
To that, Uther replied back just as dramatically with his tone matching Arthur's at every point with a completely serious look on his face
"10-4, the message has been received successfully. Now preparing to relay to appropriate party. Security code move authorized as well. Keep HQ notified of any further updates in the present situation. HQ over and out."
As she beheld this needlessly melodramatic exchange between father and son, Kushinada aka Arthur's mom, rolled her eyes visibly and sighed softly after which she remarked to Ivan and Elizabeth
"Please accept my apologies on their behalf, my husband and son happen to...both revel in the performance of these...cloak-and-dagger antics more often than necessary. I have told them time and again not to, but like father, like son, I suppose. Despite these antics, once again let me reassure of your dear daughter's safety."
After that, Arthur's voice sounded once more on the line in response to Uther's instructions with the same serious and crisp tone
"Copy that. Kirk out."
After all of that was done, Arthur turned back to Viktoriya with a pleasant smile on his thin lips as he replied
"You have my gratitude then, Ms. Romanova and yes, I deduced that I would find you in this locale given its combination of the spaciousness of this courtyard, the pleasant night air, the enthralling full moon that is clearly visible tonight, and most importantly, because of the availability of bokken with which one may practice as I know full well than you are a fencer of some decent skill."
Arthur paused there briefly and then continued his response to Viktoriya with a distinctively Holmesian smirk on his thin lips
"To answer your question, they were indeed, but that went away upon my reassurance to them that I would bring you back safely at all costs. Now then, let us be..."
He was about to say more but then trailed off as the large 6 ft. high bush line then started rustling as if something or someone was moving through it. Upon hearing that, Arthur immediately went on alert and quickly moved his position till he was slightly in front of Viktoriya and then dropped into one of the defensive stances he had learned in his Krav Maga training.

With Arthur’s response being a deduction that Viki had gone off to the courtyard’s garden to train, he would know that she was a fencer with decent skill. “I see that you too correctly assumed I came into the garden for some training with fencing. The sport is difficult to do, yet the results yield if you practice more into it.” She replied in her poised tone though she did expect the guy to catch her sword before things would run terribly. He did show off his martial art skill in catching the wooden sword before the blade reached him.[break][break]
The heiress heard nodded to the young man’s words that her parents were assured of her safety before the noise came from the bush line. She saw him move in front of her with his stance becoming defensive. “I can fend for myself too, not that I’m much of a damsel in distress from the fairy tales.” Viktoriya replied before gripping the hand of the wooden sword in one hand.

Arthur nodded in acknowledgement to Viktoriya's response about how the sport of fencing require time and dedicated effort to acquire proficiency at it and remarked
"Indeed, in that regard, it is like any other human endeavor that requires steady effort to accomplish in full. I should know, as I am currently undergoing training in Krav Maga for a slew of reasons."
Then, he went on to address Viktoriya's second remark about how she was not a helpless damsel in distress
"Of course you're not, Ms. Romanova. That was not the reason for my moving into my current position. You see, I did so because you and I need to have each other's back in this impending scuffle so that we may both come out of it as unscathed as possible."
No sooner than he had said that, a pair of rather badly injured and unknown young men traipsed into the courtyard's bush line and came to stand a few paces in front of Arthur and Viktoriya. Each of them was armed with a dagger and looking at Arthur and Viktoriya with wild-eyed looks on their faces, a visage typical of those under the influence of the fight or flight response.
"My, when it rains, it sure does pour, eh Ms. Romanova? What say we entertain these uninvited guests and send them on their merry way?"
Arthur asked of Viktoriya with a calm, but yet focused look on his face and a smile on his lips while glancing sideways at her to see what she thought they should do in this situation.

Arthur explained the reason why he moved slightly in front of her which was having his back when there were intruders near his home. “I will cover you then if you wish to have a form of protection from whatever intruders were at your home.” The heiress responded with her sword readied to back the Edogawa heir up. Coming out from the bushes were two men that were badly injured which was likely that the other maids had been going after them.[break][break]
With the two men being armed with knives, this was a very dangerous situation and without Vera around, the female teen was going to have to do the protecting herself. “Then I will do the honor of giving them a thrashing to write home about.” She responded to Arthur with an amused smirk. Using her fencing skill, the wooden sword she was using would thrust itself to disarm one of the men that were holding knives!

Arthur smirked as he looked on as Viktoriya lunged forth into action, expertly disabling one of the two men with the daggers in their hands and he could not help but exclaim in a needlessly theatrical fashion with all the associated mannerisms like an obviously exaggerated French accent, his booming baritone voice resounding off the various stone decorations in the courtyard and echoing slightly through the area due to the acoustic design of the locale
"GAVOTTE BOND EN AVANT!!!"
After doing so, of course, he realized what he had done and hurriedly cleared his throat and refocused his attention on the task at hand while also apologizing in a much more subdued fashion as was his usual manner of speech
"Ah, excuse me, I seem to have lost myself momentarily to frenzy. Let us continue then, mademoiselle Romanova."
The sudden exclamation from him had unwittingly served to startle the two intruders sufficiently and caught them off guard enough to let him surreptitiously pull out a handheld, ultra hi-tech, blowpipe loaded with a tranquilizer dart containing a powerful sedative agent and fire it at the disarmed intruder, and said dart was able to find its way into the disarmed intruders neck, thus dropping him to the ground in a state of complete unconsciousness in the next split second. Of course, this prompted the still armed intruder into action, but Arthur intercepted him before he could reach Viktoriya. Then, with a quick series of techniques from Chinese Kenpo that accurately targeted the man's hand with the dagger in it as well as weak spots like the neck and solar plexus, he managed to not only disarm the man but also knock him down to the ground after which he struck him with another tranquilizer dart from his blowpipe for good measure, thus knocking the second intruder into a drug-induced stupor as well like he had done to his partner.
After that, Arthur brought out some long zip ties from his pocket and tied up the wrists and ankles of the each of the intruders, thus restraining them effectively, at least for the time being. Then, he looked up at Viktoriya and inquired
"My apologies for involving you, an honored guest of tonight's party, in my struggles like this, but I was outnumbered and it would not have been tactically intelligent to contend with both of these intruders on my own, Ms. Romanova. You have my sincerest thanks for assisting me in the successful resolution of this endeavor."
Once that was done, he pressed a button on his smartwatch after which a few moments later, his family's head butler Alfred arrived on scene with Viktoriya's butler in tow as well, both of them with concerned expressions on their faces and this was reflected in their inquiries
"Master Edogawa, Mistress Romanova! Sorry for the delay in our arrival, but we were held up with dealing with the main bulk of the intruders who broke in tonight and also for being negligent enough to miss these two stragglers in the enemy's ranks. Are you both alright?"

Luckily, the heiress got to see a very good spectacle of the martial arts that young Edogawa learned to practice down to the two young men being subdued for the butlers to arrive. “You are mostly welcome, Arthur. It was some small fun to involve a little bit of the sport I practice daily when not studying for school. And yes, I’m alright, thank you for your concern, Alfred.” She replied to Arthur and his butler before turning to Godfrey who looked so relieved at her being safe. From the bushes nearby, a pink-haired young girl with steampunk-like safety goggles on her hair quickly pulled the young woman into a small hug before letting go with a smile.[break][break]
“I’ve been looking around for you. Vera said she had to answer those superchat things on Youtube, so I’m here to crash the party in her place!” Iris spoke, emulating Vera’s British accent before she tried to hide behind Viktoriya’s back, a little uncertain of meeting strangers that were there. “Godfrey is friendly, don’t worry. As for those two...you can trust them too.” Viki responded to the disguised Lunamon gently though she understood what it was like talking to strangers that she had not met before.[break][break]
That was enough for the timid young girl to come out of hiding and bowed apologetically. “Sorry for how rude that may seem. I’m...really fearful of strangers unless I know the person like Viktoriya here.”

Arthur had chuckled and remarked about Viktoriya's fencing training
"That sounds rather fascinating. Perhaps you can teach me in its ways at some point? Ms. Romanova?"
Moments afterward, Arthur watched as the butlers of their respective families came bursting through the bushes with worried looks on their faces and as Viktoriya reassured Alfred, Arthur's butler that she was okay and then he too reassured him
"You may be at ease, Alfred. I too am quite alright, though I suppose if Ms. Romanova had not been here to provide me support in this little tussle, the events that transpired just now may have occurred differently."
Then, Arthur inquired after Godfrey as he too was one of the guests in the Romanov/Romanova party tonight
"Anyway, are you both alright as well, Alfred? Mr. Godfrey? Oh yes, Mr. Godfrey, if you are in need of medical attention to patch up any wounds and so on you may have received from those uninvited guests, then I can put in an order to the Medical Maid Squad to attend to you, so please do not hesitate to let me know if this is the case."
Arthur was about to continue, but then a young girl clad in a steampunk-like outfit appeared on the scene and as he looked on, she exchanged greeting with Viktoriya and conversed with her about a mutual friend of theirs briefly, but when she noticed him and Alfred, the girl went and hid behind Viktoriya. Luckily, however, Viktoriya had been able to reassure the girl about both him and Alfred being trustworthy and not a source of danger to her. In response, as Arthur watched on, the little girl apologized, mentioning how it was difficult for her to be comfortable about anyone else besides Viktoriya unless she knew them, so Arthur replied, trying to reassure the girl further
"Not to worry, little lady, that is a perfectly understandable and natural reaction. I did not mind at all. Anyway, my name is Arthur Edogawa and I am the sole heir to this entire estate you are in currently and the only current scion of my family...and this is my highly trustworthy and equally capable butler, Alfred, who has been in the service of my family for at least a few generations now. As Ms. Romanova mentioned, we both and everyone else in my family are perfectly harmless to you and your loved ones."
To emphasize his point, Arthur flashed Viktoriya's diminutive friend a cordial smile and even bowed briefly to her out of respect due to her association with Viktoriya. He was about to say more, but then Alfred interjected with a report
"Sorry to interrupt, Master Edogawa, but I have the status report of our estate after we intercepted those intrud...ah, pardon me...I mean uninvited guests, tonight. Would you care to hear it now?"
Then, Alfred fell silent and awaited Arthur's orders on what to do next. Upon hearing that, Arthur nodded to Alfred, bidding him to continue at which point Alfred resumed speaking
"Well sir, it is rather bad news, I am afraid. The enemy forces were far stronger and more capable than we had anticipated, and despite our best efforts, a small portion of them managed to break through all the defensive lines of this estate and make their way successfully to their target coordinates, namely the place where the data regarding our current VR research project is being held at the moment. They even managed to extract all of it and escape from our clutches. However, we do have the majority of them in custody and have incapacitated them as per your orders, so we can hand them over to the authorities whenever you are ready."
Despite this seemingly bad news, Arthur looked unfazed to all present as he remarked after Alfred had fallen silent
"Did they now? My, that is quite impressive indeed. Elysium Corp seems to have done their homework in hiring such capable professionals...So, this would be a shame...that is, if they had managed to get the real data, of course...Fortunately for us, I had easily anticipated this action on their part and moved the true database to a remote and highly secure location months in advance of today. In its place, I had the supremely talented young ladies of our Technology and Software Research Maid Squad secretly prepare a compilation of dummy data a few months ago. Now, to most if not all experts, this decoy will look virtually indistinguishable from the real thing...and being the exceptionally kind and compassionate man I am, I had them hide a little gift deep inside it for our uninvited guests and their employers at Elysium Corp to find...one that will cause them to break down in tears once it has completed its designated task."
As he was saying this, Arthur's face morphed in the same way the Grinch's did in those old shows about how the Grinch stole Christmas, leaving Alfred speechless for a few moments, but then he recovered and inquired
"But sir...is this even..."
Arthur knew what he was going to ask and so, he cut him off by remarking with a smug smirk on his thin lips
"Oh, there is no need to worry, this "gift" is programmed for complete autodeletion after it has completed its task and there will be nary a trace left of it after that...and, there is the fact that our uninvited guests cannot hope to go to the authorities to complain even if they do find some infinitesimal trace of it in their systems...because, after all, they would have to reveal all of their wrongdoings that they tried to perpetrate upon us tonight and that would only be to their disadvantage as this was supposed to be a covert operation on their part. So, just keep an eye on the news for me, would you, Alfred?"
After saying that, he turned back to Viktoriya and her little friend and with a perfectly polite and cordial smile, he asked
"Shall we return to the party and the other events for tonight then, ladies? I do believe we have kept our dear parental units worried for far too long as it is, so it would behoove us to be at their sides once more with all due haste."
With that said, he fell silent and started leading the way out of the courtyard where all of them were standing and back to the main mansion wherein there was the party gathering in which each of their respective parents were waiting for their heir and heiress to return safely in each other's company.

When Arthur asked if she could teach him the sport of fencing, she replied with a nod. “I will be happy to teach you as I was taught the very best from my instructor.” Godfrey had taught her more of the basics and the advanced teachings since he had been a runner up of a few fencing competitions and was able to hold his own. “Don’t worry, I’m alright. It’s nothing that I can’t handle for the safety of my own lady.” The butler responds, a smile on his face as he turned to the small pink-haired girl that hid behind Viki.[break][break]
Though Vera was not with her to comfort her, Iris thought the young man didn’t mean any harm. She would get out of hiding and in full view as the report came from Arthur’s butler about the enemies they encountered tonight being spies from another company to steal his company’s secrets. [break][break]
Both of the young women nodded to Arthur’s statement that they shouldn’t keep the parents worried about them with Viki replying to the other heir. “It would be bad enough if I kept my father and mother worried sick about me, so I’ll head back too.” The younger girl followed the female heir as Viki allowed Arthur to escort them back to the party.
