After a rough night not getting much sleep Alucard was flying while carrying Poseidon. He had been zipping through the sky almost non stop only stopping for food and bathroom breaks. Poseidon noticed how miserable his father seemed but other than asking if he was okay when he got up that morning he had not said anything conversational the whole day knowing Alucard was not in the mood.
So the whole trip Poseidon had been thinking about his father's dream and how it had upset him. To be fair it made sense to the holy ring wearing Gomamon as he figured if he had such a dream he would find it hard to sleep himself. Judging by how Alucard described how real the dream felt it was as if his father was there but not able to interact outside of the events. Could those events in the dream have really been a peak into Alucard's past life as Cherubimon and how long ago was this? The thought of all this was still hard to grasp.
"Something wrong, Poseidon?" Alucard asked his familiar cold tone bringing Poseidon out of his thoughts.
Looking up as best as he could, Poseidon answered "No. Nothing wrong per say. I was just thinking about your dream last night. You know the one you told me about this morning."
Alucard went silent for a moment taking in Poseidon's response which worried the Gomamon for a moment before Alucard then flatly said "I see." Poseidon noticed his father didn't sound mad though those who didn't know him would find Alucard's emotions hard to read due to his cold tone of voice.
The pair traveled in silence for the rest of the day and Alucard landed as the sun was starting to set. It seemed GrandDracmon's mansion was a bit further than he remembered. After finding some meat apples and starting a camp fire they began cooking their food. Maybe after a bit of rest they could make it to their destination before sunrise the next day. Though the concept of an all nighter didn't bother Poseidon that much since he would likely sleep in his father's arms the rest of the trip.
The fire crackled as the meat apples were cooking but other than that things were silent except for the occasional forest creature. Poseidon then had the need to answer nature's call and began moving swiftly toward the bushes nearby. Alucard looked at his son as he made his way into the bushes but said nothing as it was all too apparent as to what his son was needing to do.
A short time later as Poseidon wrapped up his business he was turning to head back when the sound of crunching leaves caught his attention causing his antenna like ears to shoot up before he whirled around facing the direction of the sounds. It sounded like the unknown figure was heading his way. His body tensed ready for either battle or a swift retreat depending on what came into view. When a familiar Babamon came into sight the tension faded from the Gomamon's muscles as he asked "Babamon? What are you doing all the way out here?"
Babamon looked at Poseidon and a warm friendly smile spread on her face before she answered "I was just out gathering some herbs to make medicines. So what about you? Where is your father?"
Poseidon chuckled before he said "Babamon, I'm not a baby anymore but Dad is back at camp not far behind me. We are on our way to see GrandDracmon."
Babamon smiled in response to Poseidon's answers before she said "I know you aren't a baby, Poseidon. I just worry about the both of you. I suppose I was fond of your father when I met him while he was temporarily a vampire."
"Would you like to come back to camp with me? If you are out looking for herbs then GrandDracmon's place can't be far." Poseidon said.
Babamon knew why Alucard and Poseidon had been heading to their destination as she had been informed of their upcoming arrival because that was the real reason she was out there. She intended to guide them the rest of the way and coming across Poseidon made things much easier. "I would love to spend time with both you boys again. Lead the way, Poseidon."
The two of them made their way back to camp and before they were in earshot of Alucard, Babamon asked "Poseidon I'm sure you remember when we met that you were more special than you initially thought, right?"
"Yeah but why are you asking this, Babamon? Is there something important I need to know?" Poseidon asked his face scrunched up in confusion.
"Yes, Poseidon. You know how you were created and why. As for your father he is not going to succeed in his quest without two things. One is you of course." Babamon explained causing Poseidon to nod in understanding.
"What is the other thing, Babamon? Is it something I can help with?" Poseidon said sounding worried.
Hearing the worried tone in the Gomamon's voice, in a soothing voice, Babamon said "Don't sound so worried young one. Your father isn't at risk of turning into a malicious monster. The other thing might be difficult to achieve as Reapmon is not your father's primary ultimate form but to reach that Alucard will have to abandon his desire for revenge. If he does not then NeoMyotismon will feed on your father's lust for vengence and become impossible for even GrandDracmon to stop. I'm not saying he has to become a pacifist since we know that is not likely to happen."
"That might be hard since he saw two friends murdered by NeoMyotismon before his very eyes but I'll try my best to help him." Poseidon said his head swimming with the thought that his father hadn't reached his primary ultimate form. So if Reapmon wasn't his primary form, what was? With digimon digivolution lines were difficult to predict at best.
Soon the two of them arrived back at the camp site catching Alucard's attention and he looked at Babamon before he said "Babamon."
Babamon chuckled not put off one bit by Alucard's tone before she said "Nice to see you as well, Alucard. It's so nice to see both of you again."
"Babamon said she was out gathering herbs when she came across me." Poseidon explained.
"That and I would like to help you two get to GrandDracmon. It wouldn't be visible from the air unless you have night vision on some nights but I know the way. That is if you want my help." Babamon said politely not wanting to upset Alucard and risk him roaming around all night. Nights like this were too dangerous for both father and son even though they could digivolve.
"You may lead us there, Babamon." replied with a cold but polite tone and Babamon was grateful for the lack of an argument.
After the meat apples were finished cooking and eaten Alucard and Poseidon followed after Babamon on the ground as the mega digimon guided the duo with no difficulty. Various roars made both Alucard and Poseidon nervous but Alucard didn't outwardly show it as if trying to put up a brave front. Babamon was just as nervous but more so for Alucard and Poseidon but grew relaxed as they found GrandDracmon's mansion. Opening the door she let the father and son pair in first before entering herself.
The three of them made their way down the halls making their way to the large room containing GrandDracmon's sitting in his specialized seat. It wasn't really what one would call a living room since it was more of a throne room minus the grandeur of one. GrandDracmon smiled as Babamon led Alucard and Poseidon in and looked at Alucard before he said "Welcome back. I know you are likely still mad at me and I don't blame you but judging by the serious look on your face I have a feeling you have something to ask me."
Looking GrandDracmon in the eye, Alucard said "That is quite the understatement, GrandDracmon."
"I'm beginning to sense that this may be a tricky topic. Would you and Poseidon like a seat first?" GrandDracmon asked as Babamon readied to get someone to bring some chairs.
"You can get one for Poseidon if you want. I prefer to stand for now." Alucard said and Babamon left the room. A few moments later a pair of BlackGuilmon returned with a pair of chairs and set them near just behind Alucard and Poseidon before leaving the room. Poseidon took up the offer of a seat though Alucard remained standing.
"So what have you come to discuss, Alucard?" GrandDracmon asked though he knew what information Alucard came for but he maintained his poker face.
Alucard then proceeded to explain the strange realistic dream he had last night with GrandDracmon nodding from time to time. (See MPC Dreams of a Past Life) "That was no ordinary dream Alucard. That was a glimpse into your past life. That was how you died."
"What do you know of this?" Alucard asked sounding suspicious.
"Relax, Alucard, I mean you and your son no harm. The reason I know what happened is because I saved your data from being absorbed by NeoMyotismon. You wouldn't of been reborn otherwise." GrandDracmon said in a calming tone. "When Babamon first told me of you I had hoped you had been reborn and now my suspicions are confirmed."
Alucard's tense muscles, which he didn't notice tense up somehow, relaxed before he said "That could of explained me wanting to learn how to best fight vampires. Sounds like I had a subconscious memory of my own murder at the hands of NeoMyotismon. Unfortunately that monster is still tormenting my life."
Before either Alucard or GrandDracmon said anything more they caught the sound of soft snoring and looked in the direction of the chair Poseidon had sat in. "It seems Poseidon is worn out. You and Poseidon are welcome to stay the night since tonight is one of the worst times for camping. Feral digimon travel in swarms this time of month and can be quite dangerous even for ultimates."
Alucard looked at Poseidon before he turned back to GrandDracmon and said "Just for tonight. I'm still mad at you but I thank you for seeing I had another chance at life." By this time Babamon returned while Alucard was scooping up his sleeping son into his arms and guided them to a bedroom with two beds for the night. When morning came around Alucard and Poseidon left with Poseidon saying goodbye to both GrandDracmon and Babamon.
