The air was hot. Oppressively so. Two Coredramon, one blue and one green, stand in the middle of a field. Somewhere in the distance between them sits Terminus City, the glittering spires and rundown metal marking the middle point between them. The tension was so thick, a lesser Digimon would not be able to approach. The green’s face was contorted into a look of pained fury, while the blue was more a mask of disappointment.
“You always wanted to be a Royal Knight, Solaire.” The green finally spoke, his voice a deep rumble. “You wanted to fight for justice. For what was RIGHT!” His claws clench down into fists, wings flaring in barely restrained rage.
“I am fighting for justice. The only justice. Those who do wrong, HAVE to be punished, Terrance! That includes you.” The blue responds, wings surprisingly held tight to his back.
“What did the village of SnowAgumon do so wrong to deserve having their Digitamas permanently deleted, Solaire? What could they possibly have done?” Terrance demands, moving a step closer, the earth cracking beneath his feet.
“They were harboring a renegade, and lied to Omegamon about it.”
“A renegade?! It was a young Keramon! Was he out of line? Yes, I’m not denying that. But he needed to be TAUGHT!”
“Those who lie to the Royal Knights are lying to the very face of authority! If that Keramon wasn’t stopped, it might have become a Diaboromon with no regard for the world! Or WORSE!” Solaire snaps back.
“And that’s enough to stop an entire village from reincarnating?!”
“YES!” Solaire’s wings flare outwards, frustration mounting that his brother just couldn’t see the truth here. Truth… the ideal that Terrance held as close to him as Solaire held justice. And to Solaire, the ideal that Terrance seems to have abandoned. Simultaneously, as if they both knew how this meeting was going to end, they started to glow.
“Coredramon, warp digivolve!”
The two then started to grow, and change. Solaire shrank from about 15 feet down to around 10, losing his wings and tail. Terrance, however, grew to a towering 60 feet, completely changing shape.
“Slayerdramon!” “Breakdramon!” The light explodes away from the two of them in shards, like broken glass. A glittering blue cape dangles off the 10 foot Slayerdramon, his otherwise silver armor glinting in the sunlight. The amalgamated construct Digimon across from him loudly adjusts his body, steam and hydraulics groaning, screaming, and the drill upon his face whirring to life.
“You are a Black Knight now, Solaire. If your justice is the permanent deletion of someone who does even a slight thing wrong, then I will oppose it. That is authoritarian! THAT is the truth of the matter! We fought for Truth, Justice, and FREEDOM all these years, Solaire!”
“Then you’ve been blinded. Don’t you see? We’re Digimon. Data. Programs! We should be doing what we are programmed to do… For the good of all.”
“And what of those who originated as viruses, and turned to good?”
Solaire doesn’t answer. He doesn’t have an answer. It’s clear that he will eliminate them for defying the natural order. And Terrance knew it too. Solaire slowly draws his sword from under his cape, one linked segment at a time until he twirls the flexible around him in a spiral, then it snaps straight into a single whole blade.
“There is no going back anymore, is there?”
“No, Solaire.”
“Then I’ll see you in Hell.” Solaire leaps for his brother, twirling the greatblade around himself before striking up into Terrance’s body. “TENRYU!” The blade sparks and cleaves along the armor of the Breakdramon.
“Gravity Press.” Terrance responds in kind, suddenly surging up into the sky and dropping down onto Solaire, a gravitational pull sucking the smaller Mega under his body before Solaire’s blade can reach his head. The ground trembles and shakes as the Breakdramon lands on the ground once more.
From underneath, a muffled “Shoryu!” Can be heard, and the much heavier brother is suddenly thrown into the air, as Solaire stands with sword held high, winds whipping around him from the ‘sword pressure’ of the technique! Terrance lands some distance away, the ground cracking and shaking with the impact of the heavy digimon.
“Infinite… BORING!” Terrance then calls out and launches his drills from face, tail, and sides which fly straight for Solaire, who unhooks the blade and spins it around in razorwhip mode to defend against the drills. His spinning blade resembles a force field rather than the whip that it truly is. And then the drills explode, throwing the smaller Mega flying through the air. His sword skitters across the ground some distance away from him. The sound of the hydraulics of Terrance get louder and the ground shakes with each approaching step. Then, Terrance forces himself into the air and comes down hard on top of Solaire, pressing him into the ground.
In the literally crushing darkness below his brother, Solaire grits his teeth. He’s clad in Chrome Digizoid armor, this is nothing… Nothing at all! He clenches his fists, crushing what little dirt he can in his hands, before pushing. Hard. He sinks deeper into the earth as his brother crushes him… And his eyes suddenly glow red, shining bright from within the dark visor that otherwise keeps his face obscured. He starts lifting his brother up, sinking unexpectedly growing claws into the metallic armor from below!
Terrance is at a loss as Solaire manages to lift him, roaring out in pain as heated claws pierce his armor and into the sensitive tech beneath. Somehow he is being held aloft, overhead by the tiny Mega… and he is slammed face first into the earth… and lifted back up, and slammed in again. Over, and over he is battered and bashed into the ground by Solaire as his armor cracks, chunks fly off, and his weapons crumple. Finally, he is thrown through the air once again. And where he falls, he leaves a trench as he cleaves through the earth, before sliding to a sudden stop, causing a crater to form around him from the force.
Solaire stalks over to him, eyes glowing brightly and leaving behind a trail as he moves… No longer with the regality of a knight, but the feral stance of a predatory animal… Draconic claws having forced their way through his armor, steam rising from the sheer heat emitting off of them. He climbs onto his brother, moving his way to the chestplate. Terrance’s eyes are filled with fear.
“Solaire… What… what have you become…?”
“A blackened knight, as you claim. But that doesn't matter. I will enforce my order on the Digital World… With, or without you.” Solaire growls in response, before slamming his claws into Terrance’s chestplate. With a roar, he rips the armor free, exposing Terrance’s Digicore. “I heard an interesting fact from Alphamon once…” Solaire said, as the sound of creaking armor can be heard coming from his helmet.
“Yeah? What’s that?”
“...We were once the same being. And now… we will be again.” Suddenly, chunks of Digizoid fly off his helmet with a loud CRACK, as he exposes his jaws. He then reaches into the exposed chest of Terrance and takes hold of his Digicore, ripping it free. As Terrance’s body begins to disintegrate into data, only to be loaded by Solaire… He places the Digicore into his jaws, and swallows. He begins to glow…
And in the aftermath of their battle, a black Chrome Digizoid clad dragon, much more immense than any other dragon digimon previously seen, flys through the sky above Terminus City… a quiet hush falling over the land below, as a new tyrant is born.
