Natsuya sat at his computer, hunched over the keyboard as he usually is... Tie hanging low and more undone than he normally would have it. He's typing away like a man possessed, the bright glow of the screen illuminating the otherwise dark and messy room. Reflected in his glasses are the lines of code that he is working with, characters scrolling past at great speed. The heavy bags under his lifeless eyes seem to indicate that it has been a few days since he has properly slept, and yet he is writing up code all but flawlessly, catching his mistakes within a few lines. And then he hits save.
Slowly straightening his back with very loud cracks of his various joints, loud enough to echo along the bare walls of his studio apartment, he pushes his glasses up his nose. Without a word, which isn't too odd considering there is nobody else in the room, he gets up and fetches some water and a snack to quiet his otherwise protesting stomach. He returns to his computer and glances at the screen.
"Would you like to have real power? [Yes] [No]"
He snorts, taking off his glases to rub his eyes, before looking at the screen again.
But no, those words are still on the screen, inside a normal options pop-up. Suddenly, a second window opens.
"Would you like to be set on the path to real, tangible power? [Yes] [No]"
He raises an eyebrow before asking aloud. "Who are you?" Nothing changes for a hot minute, leaving him to lean back in his chair as he considers. Real power? Given the second window amended it to say the path to real power, he clearly would still have to work for it. ...But is that really so bad? He already worked his ass off for the ephemeral grasp of power he had at the stupid bank...
And then, a third window pops up. "I am your benefactor. If you want to earn true power, then click Yes. If you want your world to remain the same, then click No. [Yes] [No]" Nasuya's lips draw to a thin line and he chuckles. "My benefactor, huh? And what did I do to deserve such a kind entity?" He grabs the mouse and hovers it over [Yes]. He then takes a breath... and clicks.
His computer shuts off. The whir of the fans dies down, leaving him in darkness. "...I knew it. I knew it. Of course it was too good to b-" And then the fans whir back to life. A bright light emits from the monitor, far brighter than it physically should be capable of. Natsuya falls backwards, his chair dumping him on the floor with a solid thud. Holding a hand up to cover his eyes some, he sees a strange device emerge from the screen... a strange, remote looking device with some kind of scanner apparatus on top. Pure white. He slowly gets up onto his feet again and looks at the device.
"...This is true power?" He asks, before reaching out... he then grits his teeth and snatches it. The device screen flicks to life, and color begins to fill it in in square chunks. The device is fully colored, gun metal gray and orange. On the screen, he sees one word.
"Xros."
