A tie partially undone, not quite pulled all the way to his collar. A plain white button down shirt and a black suit jacket, with matching black pants. If it weren't for his slouched over position, he'd look pretty respectable! He can't help but smirk at Marigold's reaction. She's quite smart... and he has no choice but to recognize it.
"You're kidding." He says drily, still shuffling along behind Zack. The dude is really off his rocker, isn't he? Gues it does take a certain type to literally dress up as a Kamen Rider original character and actually go around kicking the shit outta random goons up to whatever degree of no good they happen to be up to. "Ever get in trouble with the cops? Or do ya just avoid them?" He asks, having no further protests. He's already a criminal technically, what's a little BnE? Certainly not much compared to literal fraud.
"Nate, my friend..." He said, an unstoppably positive bounce in his voice as he looked over his shoulder, still walking down the street with more grace than one would expect of a man of his seeming metal caliber, as Nate got a better look at him he'd realize that Zack was actually fairly broad and solidly built especially around his shoulders, biceps and thighs. "If a pair of thugs go running to the cops and telling them that some idiot in a bee themed motorcycle helmet kicked the tar out of them, the first thing that's going to happen is they're going to get arrested for whatever "context" they have to put that story in, the second thing that's going to happen is that not a single cop in this town is going to believe them because their victims aren't going to corroborate shit." He said, with a wink, showing off a devious mind of his own fashion, moving from one alley to another, darting through the back streets of the forgotten, low class part of town as if the streets were tattooed on the back of his eyelids.
"Right..." Natsuya groans gently as he is forced to move a bit faster to keep up with Zack. He is very clearly out of his element now, leaving him panting just a bit. But he keeps trying to keep up without complaint... More than can be said for some people in the world.
Meanwhile, in the muted Xros Loader, Charles spins happily. "You think that he'll get very far?" The Hagurumon asks his twin. The Solarmon then shrugs, since he is rather uncertain... before finally saying,
"Good! Because I think so too."
Natsuya and Zack finally arrive to the station, where Natsuya raises a hand to silently ask for a moment to catch his breath. He leans over a bit, hands on knees, to actually intake that oxygen. "...Alright... N-Note to self... G-Get to working out more." The human says with a dry laugh. Of course, self-depricating humor. Best humor.
Marigold was still watching him like a hawk even when her father had turned his back on their "new friend" those beady black eyes staring around the edge of his golden, custom leather jacket to make sure that whoever this bastard was he wouldn't forget that he was being watched. Zack leaned up against the wall behind him as he waited for "Nate" to catch a few breaths.
"Oh you'll end up in better shape in no time, the Trailmons only run to so many places in the digital world, and the capital at Terminus City is HUGE. I would...uhh...buy a pair of walking shoes, basically." He said, softly tapping the heart material of his own combat boots, one of which being the specially made one with the flip in spot for his digivice. "Should probably follow my lead anyway, this place closes up around midnight, shouldn't be anything more than a few sleepy night watchmen around and the last thing we watn to do is give some sixty year old railroad employee a heart attack." He chuckled, only a tad darkly.
Natsuya grins a bit. "Well, that's dark, Zack. ...I like it." After a couple minutes, he stretches and nods. "Alright, I'm good." He meets Marigold's gaze, eyes suddenly a bit brighter. He seems unconcerned with Marigold knowing... But then again, he also doesn't realize that Marigold has quite a bit of power herself. He cracks his neck gently. "Let's get a move on, shall we?"
Ken forces the Xros Loader screen to turn on so he can stare back at Marigold as well. It isn't as menacing given he is a little sprite on the screen. But the Solarmon wasn't going to let that stop him from watching the little bee as well... While Charles was in the background waving, totally oblivious to the tension forming in the air. How convenient that shirt pockets exist to enable the whole exchange.
But the question is: Is Charles just dumb? Or is he a secret genius?
"You get to be a tad snarky when you look the lowlifes of humanity in the eye night after night." He says, doing his own stretches and looking up at the soft technicolor lights of one of the upper windows, cracking his neck and pulling his helmet back on. "You got a bandana or something in case everything goes to hell? Not a given but things do tend to go to hell when I get involved for some reason." He says, pulling out a small mechanical device with a hook glinting out of one end, shooting it with a soft spring loaded hiss to the ledge of one of the above ground windows, tugging it to test the weight and then hopping on, beginning to scale the rope.
Marigold GLARED at her fellow Digimon. Depending on how much they knew that their partner didn't, they might recognize it as a challenge. Any fight between their respective "families" would come down to the three of them clashing, and Marigold was keen to win any clash that came forward.
"No. No I don't." Natsuya rolls his eyes. "But it's fine. It's not like I get out much anyway... What's a little excitement?" He says with a dry chuckle as he takes off his suit jacket. He mumbles something about a 't-shirt ninja' thing and he folds it up around his head in a surprisingly handy "mask" of some sort that bears a passing resemblance to a shinobi mask. "...That should do it... it's clunky and hot, but it works." Finally, random skills he picked up watching videos while coding are coming in handy.
And then Zack pulls out a goddamn grappling hook. "...Of course you have one of those." He rolls his eyes and starts climbing... Struggling quite a bit and more like... inching along like some kind of bug. It is quite amusing to Marigold in the sadistic sense, he's sure... Looking like a real idiot compared to the 'paragon of justice' that her dad is.
Zack's good nature could very well end up infuriating to the criminal he didn't realize he was helping. By the time "Nate" was able to look over the eve of the window sill, Zack was already squatting there with a gloved hand outstretched. He was nice, he was in good shape, he was charming from a certain point of view. he grabbed hold of "Nate's" sleeve and hauled him up onto the ledge. He wasn't even breathing hard.
"Well hey, think of it like this...it's much harder going up..." He said, pushing open the window and looking down at the two story drop from the window to the hard tiled floor underneath them. "Then going down." He said, and then "Nate" was able to watch him as he, without a single ounce of hesitation or trepidation or even self preservation he just leapt from the sill, hitting the ground with a slide of his heel, sliding into a fall breaking roll before he popped up with a tilt of his head and a thumbs up, holding out his arms...
Oh yeah, screw that. He is not fit enough for that. He grits his teeth before producing his Xros Loader. "Hagurumon, Solarmon... Realize!" He then presses a button, causing the top of the device to pop up and reveal that weird gold insignia again, before there is a whir of data particles. Suddenly, the two gear Digimon are floating in front of Natsuya... Charles keeping a huge grin on his face.
"...Charles, keep it down and help me get to the floor without being smashed into jelly."
"Why not just do what he did?"
"I'm not trained or athletic enough."
"...Okay!" The Hagurumon floats over to his side, as does the mostly silent Solarmon, and they grab hold of his arms, and slowly float their partner to the floor. The two Rookies are quite big, now that Zack actually gets a look at them. They've got a diameter of about six feet. They're surprisingly big.
Natsuya dusts himself off. "Alright, let's go... And Charles, try not to knock anything over and stay quiet?"
"Yes, si-! I mean... Yes, sir." He had started out loud, but caught himself to quiet down.
"I would have caught you, you know?" He said, a good natured grin evident even under his helmet just from his tone. he placed his hands back in his pockets and made a point of walking slightly faster than anyone else, less out of a desire to show off and more out of a need to scout ahead and make sure that nothing was going to pop around the corners and make this whole operation more complicated.
Marigold's antennae seemed to stand even more on end upon seeing the two digimon were much bigger than she would have thought. In an instant she hopped out of the pocket and digivolved, not just into her rookie form, but into the towering insectoid hero of her champion Stingmon form. Giving "Nate" a very pointed look before she zipped up into the rafters, a stark and cold reminder that no matter how naive he thought Zack was, the vigilante had survived in this game for a lot longer than Natsuya had, and he had the prowess and the battle scars to prove it.
"Huh, she must be getting paranoid, wants to check things from a bug's eye view. I wouldn't worry, she worries enough for all of us." He said, giving a short two fingered salute to his daughter hovering and leaping through the rafters.
"Concerned: Champion level." Ken the Solarmon says, for Natsuya's benefit. "Advise: Remain very humble."
Natsuya's face would contort to one of shock, surprise, and "ah shit, I really underestimated this." He grits his teeth a bit before following Zack from the ground, making a point to keep his hands visible at all times for Marigold. Not like he had any intentions of hurting Zack now, or any point in the near future. But he better acclimate real quick to his new world... And accrue power fast.
Charles, meanwhile, chugs along in the air with occasional glances at the fancy technology around. Scanners, ticket machines, ATMs... He just seemed totally and completely oblivious to the hostility between Marigold and Natsuya! He actually makes his way towards one of the machines before Natsuya gives a sharp "tss" to redirect him to just following the rest of them. Charles, with a small sigh, obeys however.
Ken rolls his eyes and glares at his twin, to which Charles just gives a grin, as if to say "It's just so cool!"
Marigold does not let up, she makes sure that she is plainly visible out of the shadows in the corner of Natsuya's eyes, the glint in her crimson eyes showing off a powerful, grinning contempt now that the tables had turned. Not such a little bug anymore huh? No, she was onto him and she would follow her father's better nature for exactly as long as "Nate" behaved and not one second longer, once he crossed the line she would land on him with both feet.
"Sorry if she's being a bit overbearing tonight, I recently gave her a real scare with an injury of mine and she gets like this after something like that." He said, turning a corner to face what seemed like a blank doorway leading to a semingly broken down terminal. Marigold lands with just enough oomph in the motion to make the ground shake behind "Nate" and his twin digimon as Zack, with a casual whistle, scans his digivice and walks all of them in.
Natsuya gets an eyeful of the Trailmon, a MASSIVE living train monster with teeth taller and wider than he is and eyes bigger than his torso, steaming hissing up into the air. Zack pats him on the cheek in an affectionate gesture, prompting a blush and a casual greeting from the massive train snake.
"Of course. A daughter's job is to worry about her father in such... dangerous line of work." He says, choosing his words VERY carefully as the ground shakes behind him. He glances back before passing through the barrier to Marigold. "...How much leeway do I have here?" He asks, his voice low enough that only Marigold can hear him.
Charles waves to the Trailmon. "Hi, Trailmon! Get many late night passengers?" He asks with a silly grin on his face.
Ken, meanwhile, jabs Natsuya in the side for his question, causing him to yelp a bit. The human rubs his side. "What? She already has me pegged to rights, I just want to know."
"Advise: Stay humble. Pushing luck." Ken retorts quietly. Natsuya waves his hand somewhat dismissively, before pausing and giving a nod. Ken's face momentarily becomes a smug smirk, glad that his partner is able to recognize some good sense.
"That depends entirely on you." She says, making sure to quite literally shadow them as they walked along the platform, casting her massive powerful shadow down on them. "See, my dad? He's your classical hero type. Trusting, kind...me? I got to see the hard side of life before he took me in. I believe in his ideals, really I do BUT..." She leaned down close enough that "Nate" could feel her breath on his neck, her voice rumbling in his senses like a rockslide. "I'm willing to bend those ideals for the sake of keeping the only person I have in this life safe. So, here's the deal." She said, standing back up to her full height, wanting to negotiate from a position of strength in the last moments before they were in too close quarters in the train car to talk without Zack noticing. "You can accept his help and then go off, do whatever you're gonna do, that's fine. He'll crash through whatever plans you thought you had and leave you with nothing more than some wounded pride and a couple bruises. BUT, you stab him in the back, cross the line of his hospitality, generally betray his trust in a way that might end with him getting hurt?" She didn't finish the statement, just flexing the stone crushing muscle in her hands to show him the butcher knife claws she was packing. "You wanna play the villain? Fine, play the villain but you will not START playing that villain in my father's house, understand?" She said, shrinking down to her Rookie level and cuddling up to her dad as he flipped through a comic collection open on his lap. He perked up his head.
"Something wrong, Nate? You look a little pale." he asked, totally innocent as Marigold looked up from his lap and narrowed her eyes.
"I'm sure he's fine, dad. Just figuring out what he's getting into." She gave a cruel wink.
Natsuya grits his teeth quite hard. And yes, he is very pale, moreso than he already was. "...Yeah. What she said." He finally speaks after a moment as he settles into a seat, settling his gaze on the now Rookie-level FanBeemon. Despite the obvious fear, there is a fire behind his eyes. A look of revenge. A look of "You truly have made an enemy this day."
Ken just shakes his head... body... face, before floating in front of Natsuya, blocking him from view of Marigold, and settling his gaze on his partner. Natsuya quietly sighs and nods. "...Yeah, yeah." His teeth actually creak a bit with how tight his jaw is clenched. He glances over to Charles, who is happily floating around the cabin. With a "tss," and a quick beckon, the Hagurumon floats on over.
"...I have a plan. But for now, sit down."
Charles nods and sits down. Ken slowly does as well.
