A boy clad in a blue school uniform rested against a towering willow tree, and even though it was comfortable enough, Yuu let a sigh escape his lips. Today was a rather uneventful day, but someway, classes today seemed to drag longer than usual. So, as if self-treating him, he decided to ride his bicicle the nearby forest instead of just going home, and luckily the trip had the effect he desired. So he just stood there, admiring the sight of the untouched forest and the melodious songs that the birds there sang. He felt so relaxed by the tranquil ambient that he opened his backpack, searching for his sketchbook and a pencil and started drawing. Admittedly, he didn't love to draw landscapes, but this one had something special about it. He couldn't figure exactly what, but it gave the place some kind of charm. Strangely enough, he enjoyed himself while doing it and when the picture was ready, he took his time to make sure that his drawing and the landscape were as alike as possible. He then saw a small, whitish spot in the distance. He couldn't say exactly what that was, because it was far away, but as far as he could tell, it didn't appear to be any kind of plant.
"That wasn't there a few minutes ago, otherwise I'm sure that I would have noticed it" He thought to himself while he packed away his sketchbook and stood up, trying to get a closer look to that strange spot. He walked up to what seemed to be the burrow of some digging animal and on top of it saw the thing. He blinked once, then twice, but it seemed that his eyes were not deceiving him, it was actually an egg! And the biggest egg he had seen in his whole life to boot. If he could recall correctly, he only knew of one species of bird capable of laying eggs that big, but they lived somewhere in Africa and even then, this particular egg had a black spotted pattern all around it that was definitely not paint.
"Just what's this thing?" He thought while scooping the strange egg, puzzled expression on his face.

Duffer and Kotemon were busy. Not in the way a child and his friend were usually, of course, nor in the dirty way! (Get your mind out of the gutter...) They were busy with homework and honing the tamer's skills, supposedly. "I understand having to do homework for all those classes we skipped..." Duffer began, sharpening a pencil and getting his translator book ready. "But this is a HAUNTED FOREST, Kotemon! You saw the movie! We'll be lost in here forever if we don't get out now!"
"Which is exactly why we're staying. You need to learn to differentiate fiction from reality. This forest is far safer than that dilapidated movie theater, and just because you saw some guy with a hockey mask murder some kids in a movie doesn't mean it actually happens! Nature helps your mind flow as well, being close to nature makes for a healthy mind and a healthy soul..." Kotemon spoke in its usual tone, a voice indeterminable between a man and a woman's. "Besides, out here we don't need to worry about your foster parents finding me out. You may be able to convince those in your high-school I'm simply an old friend but they'll obviously be a bit more skeptical about having us sleep together."
"Let's just get this essay out of the way and head home..." Duffer said before his Digivice went off, the compass function sensing another tamer nearby.

She really have no idea what the heck is she doing. After her cellphone somehow swapped into a strange device, it let out a strange white light. Something, something from it called out for help. When she look around, no one seem to notice it. At first, she felt spooked out by it, but...
"Please... don't leave me alone!"
That pleading voice alone is enough for her to follow that voice out of sympathy. She's been in same situation herself. Running without any care about onlooking peoples, she followed the voice, sometimes taking a breather and rest, but that aside... she felt like an idiot, really. Shibuya is quite huge... to where it leads her...
"...!"
The light ended at Shibuki Forest. She hastened her pace, running and running faster inside despite she felt like her feet going to give up soon. It doesn't looks like it'll ends soon, this chase. Ahh, why is she doing this again? Can't she just simply ignore it?
Karin fell on her knees, her legs hurting from all the running. What's in front of her, she saw the light entered the biggest egg she ever saw. Being patterned like this... Easter Egg? But why using something this big for Easter Egg? Plus, there are no Easter Egg that somehow have a light entered it!
Her D-3 suddenly let out a trill-like sound again.

After a good while of unsuccessful examination, Yuu decided that it was pointless. No matter how much he thought, he couldn't figure what could lay that type of egg, o how it appeared there to begin with. Frustrated, he went back to where he left his bicycle and sat down. Definitely, it was the most perplexingly amazing thing that he had found in his life. It even pulsed with a strange kind of enticing warmth, like if the egg itself invited him to rub it.
Not even realizing it, Yuu's hands absentmindedly made caressing gestures to the warm surface of the egg. But what he did notice was that the surface of said egg was beginning to crack rather nosily, and that said cracks were emanating a strange kind of light. Even before he could finish to ask himself "What the hell's happening" the egg cracked open and the light inside blinded him. When it receded, a yellow, slimy, red-eyed, slug-like thing —because that was the only way he dared to call what he was holding now— now replaced the egg that was in his hands mere seconds ago. That thing that now was looking directly at him with a delighted expression, and Yuu didn't knew why, but that huge smile made him be at ease. After recognizing him, the strange lifeform began to made sniffing sounds —even though Yuu had a hard time trying to find it's nose. It just seemed that it wasn't there—, grew extremely anxious and began to twist and turn in his right hand, and if trying to go somewhere. Yuu knew that it was mostly pointless, but he anyway reached his coat's pocket and sensed that besides his cellphone there was another device, but it could wait for now. He brought his phone with his spare hand and began typing.
"Calm down, little guy. If you want to go that way, then we'll go there" came the electronic voice of the device, and if it was some kind of magic, the little being stopped moving and cooed with delight, almost as if it was laughing and just snuggled in one of his jacket pockets.
"What am I getting into?" Was his final thought before he started walking to where his new little friend had pointed.

Duffer frowned as his D-3 started going crazy, panicking and freaking out with two little dots on the radar. "You can't seriously be thinking of going to find them, are you?" His companion asked, unpacking his school supplies for him. "This stuff is due tomorrow and you haven't even started it."
"There's safety in numbers, Kotemon. I'd feel much safer with a couple other tamers than just you. ESPECIALLY if this place is haunted like they say it is." He packed up the schoolwork and began following his digivice. Kotemon, having no real choice, followed the tamer. "So, what do we do then? ...Other than hope they know English so we don't look like massive creeps." "Well, then we'll just all leave the forest together... I dunno what then, what do people in Japan do when they become friends?" He asked his companion, coming within hearing distance of someone. Kotemon pulled his tamer's bag to grab the English to Japanese phrasebook.

The egg remains motionless in her embrace... It's almost like the light from before merely just some random natural phenomenon tricking her senses... Despite so, the egg is still here. It's not a dream. The device beside her, too, keep letting out trill-like sound. It's definitely there... All of these things, it's not dream at all. She put her ears on the shell, only to hear faint sobbing sound.
"...I see... you're lonely, too, aren't you?" the mixed blood girl whispered. Karin sighed... was she supposed to be freaked out? Instead of being totally surprised at this, or leaving this thing alone, here she is, hugging it and cradling it like caring a baby. It doesn't fit her image... but who cares about image? It doesn't fit her personality, but she's the type that ignore common sense to begin with.
No, more like, she refused to blindly follow what people expected her to be.
The blond haired girl inhales and sing out of random.
"Sitting alone on the sidelines, I always looking at the other I wonder if it's fun, to trying to fit a mold like a sand, flexible yet nothing more than dust? Or is it better to wait for a perfect puzzle piece for me?
I'm different, and there's no use denying it. I'm different, yet I don't want to change This me only can look from the sidelines
Will it come, the time I can fit in that hole meant for me?"
...She didn't notice, but she has stroked the shell several times. That creature that listened to her voice, it somehow stares at her with a blank melancholic look.

While walking, Yuu finally decided to reach the coat again —he had felt another thing in it besides his cellphone, but he did not remember what else he could have putting in there—. Gripping the unknown device on his left hand, he brought it out and examined It. It was really strange, it seemed like some kind of walkie-talkie, but Yuu felt that it someway was different from a mere communication device.
"Seems like today's the day of finding strange things. I just that this is the last strange thing that I encounter today" He thought to himself while typing, maybe his strange new pet-friend knew anything.
"Hey little guy, you know anything of this thing?" the electronic voice came again as Yuu brought the device closer to it. The strange animal-slug-thing just cooed again with happiness and cuddled against the device. Well, at least he knew now that both the device and his new pet thing were related somehow, or just that maybe it's reaction against most things was cooing, which he found rather unsettling.
Surprisingly, the strange device started beeping, its screen showing two red dots in the direction where he was headed, the farther one of them also moving towards where he was headed.
"Your friends?" His cellphone's robotic voice dared to ask, devoid of the nervousness that he was starting to feel. Maybe this thing was a baby and wanted to return to his mother? He couldn't imagine this thing's mother would look like, but he just expected her to be nice. Or something.
As he came to expect, the thing just cooed in response, as if the mere sound of his cellphone text-to-speech voice made it happy. He felt somewhat frustrated by the lack of answers he was getting, at least until he heard something in the distance. As he came closer, he discerned what the sound was.
"Somebody singing in the middle of a forest? That's some weird stuff" As he approached, he could make out a little blonde girl, cradling an egg somewhat alike the one he had found, and singing a sad song about acceptance. Before realizing it, the strange thing jumped off from his jacket and hurried towards where she was, and even surprisingly fast to boot.
"Fantastic. Just fantastic" Was his final thought before he started jogging towards the slime, hopefully before it ruined the moment or did something embarrassing. Or both.

Duffer blinked, hearing the singing. "Well, now I know we're too late to turn back..." He sighed, walking closer and spotting the singing girl.
"Look! She has a digi-egg!" Kotemon pointed out, tossing him the japanese-to-english book. "Quick! Say something normal!" Fumbling with the book, Duffer took a few steps forward and was immediately hit by Yuu's newborn slime. Knocked over, the american boy was no longer an obstacle for anything and anyone. Kotemon, who would look just like a child in kendo gear if it weren't for the claws that stuck out from underneath the pants, began applauding sarcastically.
Kotemon climbed onto his Tamer's back and sat down, spotting the tamer who was running up. "Hey! Hey!" He said, grabbing the phrasebook. <Hello! Your attention would be a gift!> Kotemon spoke in broken Japanese, hoping to draw attention to them.

Sounds of footsteps broke her trance. By all thing that is holy, she really want to dig a hole and get inside of it. She thought this place is---Oh... ohhh... After looking at her device, she immediately noticed that it points out at the boy... She can't help but to mentally face palms. The white, small winged creature on her lap stared at the incoming slime Digimon passively, but it doesn't seem like it want to attack.
Another moment, she noticed that there's actually three dots. One for her, one for the brown haired boy in front of her... and one... foreigner with a strange kendo-gear wearing tiny person(?)...
...What did she got into?
<Hello! Your attention would be a gift!> suddenly the tiny person said. ...Now that she look at it carefully, this guy isn't a human, although looking remotely human.
"Rather than forcing yourself to talk in Japanese, it's fine to talk in English. I'm not that fluent, but I think this level is enough, at least?" Karin replied. That bizarre creature doesn't seem to be harmless, and the one in front of her, too, isn't.... Maybe with civil conversation, they can get out of trouble.

The yellow slime sprinted forward until it came face to face with the newborn angel-like bun and blew bubbles upwards, giggling and smiling afterwards as if inviting it to play. Yuu noted the strange pair and the almost human being that was sitting in a boy's shoulder while trying to speak Japanese. He approached them at the same moment than the girl and made a slight bow as a greeting while typing.
"Hello, my name is Yuu Tsumura. My English is not as fluent, but I have a translator" pronounced the electronic voice of his cellphone while he tried to make sure that his newfound pet didn't make this situation any more problematic.
"Does anyone know what exactly are these things? I see you also have a" the robotic voice said while he gestured to the angelic-looking nikuman "And what you wearing on your shoulders does not seem to be fully human, either" it repeated, referring to the strange kendo swordsman with reptilian feet and horns on his helmet.
He had never felt so ignorant in his life, but hopefully these strangers had the answers that seemed to elude him since he found the strange egg.

Duffer got up, knocking Kotemon over. He bowed to the two and nodded. "Thank goodness... I... assume the both of you are really, really... really confused. Let me start by introducing ourselves." He helped his partner up. "I am Fredrick Duffy, but people call me Duffer even though I've never actually gone golfing. This is Kotemon... my partner, he... she... Kotemon's real nice once you know him, if a bit arrogant. Just as those two are your partners... They're um..." He fumbled with his D-3 and pointed them at the two digimon. "That one... is Puttimon." He pointed to the tiny winged white Digimon. "And that is... um, Zurumon... hopefully I pronounced that right..."
Sighing, Kotemon quickly jabbed his tamer's shins to get him to shut up. "I'll be talking now. I'm Kotemon, this is my student Duffer. I am a Digimon, and those two are digimon as well. Judging by their size they're newborns, which means you must take care of and love them and nurture them as if they were your children. Eventually, usually within a few hours but it took my tamer a few days... they will grow up into bigger, stronger digimon and from that point on they will put it upon themselves to protect you, like I have with my student... then they will develop their own personalities and voices, literally, and they'll tell you what to do after that. First, I suggest you feed them."
Duffer pushed Kotemon's helmet down a bit so it got stuck around its elbows. "Sorry about my friend, he's not really... polite. What he said was accurate... B-but please, don't be scared. These digimon, if you treat them kindly and lovingly, will be like... little brothers or sisters to you. They'll kinda grow on you... a-and don't worry, they eat human food. You don't need to try and create some weird... baby stuff, they have teeth... I think. The only real problem is that they'll um... become hard to hide... but that's not a problem until a few days or so... a-any questions?"

Puttimon stays unresponsive. Whether it's simply doesn't want to play or suspicious of the newcomer, even Karin is unsure. However, there's a vacant look on the little angel Digimon. Focusing herself at the newcomers, the boy with brown hair introduces himself as Tsumura Yuu, although in English format. Does he simply feeling awkward to talk or unable to, Karin have no idea. Meanwhile, the foreigner is called Frederick Duffy, preferred to be called Duffer. Karin nodded slightly.
"My name is Takamiya Karin, 2nd grade Middle School student," she introduced herself monotonously. She repeated it once more in English to the other duo.
As she listened to the duo explaining the thing about Digimon, Karin stroked Puttimon's body slightly. To what extent this small individual resembles her, she have no idea. But needless to say, they're very similar.
"...Hm, several things... please explain what's a Digimon exactly. Are they monsters from space? Coming from different world? And the second... what... is this?" Karin asked, raising her rhodonite-white D3. Her face must've automatically gone to 'frigid queen mode' again... No helping it, she really doesn't know how to process these new information. "But that can wait. Do you have some foods? Do you mind if I buy it? I have none with me right now, and I think feeding a newborn takes more... priority over questions."

Yuu tried to process all the things that were being said to him. So this strange life forms were called digimon, and they supposedly changed forms while they grew? Frankly, it sounded like a strange fairytale, but again, nothing since he had arrived this forest has been exactly normal, and this Duffer kid nor this Kotemon showed any apparent reason to be lying, so he decided to go with what they said. He absentmindedly typed while watching what was supposed to be his "partner".
"Then this little slug called Zurumon and you know that after pointing that out with that device? Does that mean that they are related to the Digimon someway, right? What do they do exactly?" He hoped that his translator could get across his point. Meanwhile, Zurumon, undaunted by the other baby's indifference, started hopping around Puttimon, in hopes of catching it's attention, not losing it's playful expression for one second. It was actually kind of cute, but Yuu wouldn't ever admit it aloud.
Then he heard what Karin had said about the food. She was right, Zurumon hadn't eaten anything since he was born, and all the hopping, slithering and bubble-blowing must have tired him to some extent.
"Now that you said it. I've got some leftovers from my bento. They aren't much, but I guess it'll be enough for two newborns?"

Kotemon finally get corrected. "A Digimon is a digital monster. We are composed of data and come from a location called the Digital World. You'll probably end up going there eventually when your Digimon brings you there. Those are Digivices. NEVER, EVER LOSE THEM." Kotemon warned, bluntly and forebodingly.
Duffer nodded at Yuu, smiling. "The Digivice comes with the digimon... I dunno a lot about it myself, I just know it's important in making your Digimon strong... Kotemon, what's a bento?" He asked, looking to his companion who began digging in the phrasebook. "Bento, bento... ah! It's what you call a lunchbox, but with Japanese dishes instead of your "Peanut Butter and Jelly" stuff."
"If that's the case it's probably not enough for both of them, these things eat like crazy... It's better than nothing though." Duffer nodded, taking the book back and putting it in his backpack. "...So did you guys take your mons out for some air or did you just find 'em here? Because if you just found them then maybe this is like fate or something..." He chuckled. "You guys are lucky I showed up, it took me about a week to find someone to explain all this too me... and even then it was more us finding out on our own."

Karin listened to the explanation attentively while once again, the small angel Digimon ignored the yellow slime Digimon. Instead of being hostile, it's actually just merely looking at it like a bitter adult toward a happy child child. Contrary to the always smiling Puttimon, this one looks rather... gloomy. Karin, too, noticed it after pointing her D-3 on the Puttimon. The expression difference was... really astonishing...
"...I don't think this white one want to play with you, little fella. I'm sorry," Karin apologized to the unfortunate Zurumon. She felt like she want to act least cheer the little slime monster, but she's been in this kind of situation before. Trying to nudge her to play or trying to make her fit the others... it all ends up horribly. Best let this little fella get used to it slowly. Still, perhaps making them both eat would do? Someone said if you drink together at the same time with your chat partner, even if it's a total stranger, it can ease the mood.
"Yes, that meal would do. I'm sorry to impose, but let's divide equally... Excuse me, pardon me for my rudeness."
She took the bento box and divide the meal equally. She know this is extremely rude, but she guess the little angel Digimon would accept it more if she's the one that gave the meal to it She handed back Zurumon's share to Yuu while putting Puttimon's share on a handkerchief.
"Once again, I'm so sorry to impose upon you, rudely taking your share like this, Tsumura-san. I can reimburse the meal if you desire."
The Puttimon jumped down from her lap and sniffs the meal suspiciously. But at least it seem responsive to food.
"As for Mr. Duffy's question, I just merely followed a light that asked for my help. It somehow got inside Puttimon's egg. So I assumed, this Puttimon is the one that called me here. You can say that we're newbies because I just happened to find... it... here."
