When Karin talked to her, Zurumon looked back, the smile in her face not wavering for even one second. She blew some bubbles upwards and went back to where Yuu was.
To say that Yuu was startled when the blonde girl took the bento box from his hands was an understatement. Not because he considered it rude or anything like that —If what Kotemon had said was true, then feeding their digimons was a priority to them—, but because a girl that was one year younger and at least a head shorter than him did that without caring even one bit. He knew that he wasn't exactly an intimidating person, but even then, at school most second-graders approached him with caution. So he started typing.
"Don't worry about it, it's fine" Said the voice in Japanese. "I wouldn't have offered it to you if my intent wasn't sharing it in first place, Takamiya-san" Came again once he received the box back, he set it on the ground, next to where Zurumon was. She didn't wait and just started eating avidly.
"Well..." he began in English again. It was somewhat bothering having to translate what he tried to say and then putting that into the text-to-speech program. "I found the egg that contained this small in a clearing not far from here, so I am also new to all this matter. Thank you very much for explaining all this, Duffer, Kotemon". He bowed as thanks, and sat there, watching Zurumon while it was eating.
The little thing chewed happily, but stopped when there was about a third of her meal left. She pushed the box to where Puttimon was eating and started her old routine —some bubbles, some hopping, and the ever-present smile—.
"The little fella's tenacious as they come. It seems that she won't give up on Puttimon that easily" Yuu thought with a silent chuckle as he saw the ordeal.

Duffer smiled and nodded. Kotemon turned to the tamer. "See? I told you this place wasn't haunted. You were just being a wimp. There's no ghosts or serial killers or werewolves or whatever this month's stupid comic is going on about..."
This lead Duffer to frown. "Just because we found two other humans and two other Digimon doesn't mean this place isn't dangerous. How do we know Karin isn't a vampire? Or that Yuu isn't already dead? I-"
"Am a massive idiot. Yes you are, even more-so than usual." Kotemon said, smacking the tamer upside his head and cutting him off. Putting away the training sword, Kotemon smiled at the two other digimon as they ate. "But... I am happy I have a few new students. Hopefully, when the time comes and these little ones find their voices, they will learn to be like me: responsible, intelligent, and powerful... I suggest you two try and find other tamers as well, when they're young they usually enjoy play-fighting and I imagine neither of you two would be up for that task."

The Puttimon stares at the Zurumon emotionlessly, but at the offered food, it merely glanced at it before returning it back to the Zurumon. Somehow, from its action, Karin think it's just her way saying 'you need it as much as I need it, you don't have to share'. The white drop-like monster start to eat its own share.
Mmm, what a tough nut... it's seem that somehow it stays civil at least... but found being friends troublesome, huh? There's a limit of how much you're in same situation like me, Puttimon... It's painful to look at you like looking at a mirror.
At the vampire remark, Karin quickly grabs Duffer's shoulder. "...Oh, my cover has been blown up. Alright, I really have to silence you so stay still."
Karin inches closer to his neck, really really slowly, and slowly opened her mouth---
"--Or so I'd like to say, but I'm a human. I won't get out at plain daylight like this without wearing overly heavy clothes if I'm one, so cease your delusion. It's a bit too early to get chuunibyou syndrome, no?"
She quickly released her grasp on him, but not before sending her trademark unamused glare at him. Puttimon instead rolled its eyes and smirked at its partner, approving her action. Now that the baby seem full, Karin's worry decreased slightly. It does have a sense of humor apparently, but... not being able to talk is troublesome...
Just as she thinks so, her D-3 let out blinding column of light.
"Puttimon, evolves! Kyupimon!"
As the light dissipated, her Digimon evolved.
"...So it IS true..."
"Pleasure to meet you, my Tamer. My name is Kyupimon," the Digimon speaks with feminine voice. Instead of usual mischievous Kyupimon, it have very serious expression...

When Puttimon gave Zurumon her food back, she reacted as if it hadn't been hers in first place. She smiled even more happily at Puttimon and continued eating.
While Yuu contemplated the possibility of his digimon being just a little too naïve, he heard Duffer saying something about Karin being a vampire and him being already dead, and saw the girl making a really lame imitation of said bloodsuckers. He let out a silent laugh at the display and tried to type despite his laughing.
"T-that waas f-fun" The emotionless electronic voice said, it's stuttering caused by the typing mistakes made.
"But speaking seriously, I thought ghosts couldn't touch things because they trespassed them or something like that" He added after calming down. "And I don't how why a digimon would want to be paired with a dead person, either".
He then saw how Puttimon evolved, her new form somewhat resembling a cherub. And Zurumon went into a kind of frenzy, hopping around her madly and extremely happy until she too, started glowing. The yellow slug-like digimon had transformed into a giant black cat head with enormous yellow eyes and a tail with streaks of violet.
"Onee-sama, onee-sama!" She said in a girlish voice, referring to Kyupimon. She still bounced happily and had the same smile her previous form had "I evolved thanks to your food. Thank you onee-sama, you're the best big sister!"
"Wait, do she actually thinks that Kyupimon is her elder sister? And that she gave her the food?" Yuu thought. That actually confirmed his suspicions of his partner being naïve. He tried not to ruin the moment, so he discreetly pointed his digivice to her new partner.
Her name was Nyaromon, but what exactly did this "Attribute: Virus" thing mean?

"And it took you three days to get me to Digivolve..." Kotemon said, resentful to the tamer. The taller digimon approached the two in-trainings, smiling... although one couldn't tell because of the helmet "Welcome to the Human world. I am Kotemon, as you probably heard. These creatures," He motioned to Karin, Yuu, and Duffer. "Are humans. They are not as smart as you, not as strong as you will be, and ultimately lesser than your weakest forms. But they're yours, and you have to keep them safe."
Duffer pulled Kotemon away from the little ones, frowning. "Don't give them delusions of grandeur, they're only children and I don't want these two to have as big a problem dealing with them as I did with you. Might I remind you that your definition of "protecting me" only came about after you almost knocked me out in a kitchen sink? And I am totally smarter than you! You can hardly read!"
Kotemon rolled its eyes. "Not in front of the children... Now that your digimon can talk the obvious step will be questions. I suggest you answer them honestly and bluntly as to leave no loose threads for them to tug at. Amusing as it is to see them drive you mad..." It chuckled.
Duffer dropped the subject and began petting Nyaromon. "She's adorable! Who's a kitty kitty, who's a kitty kitty, you are!"

Oneesama? Somehow did this little furball got a wrong impression and doesn't know I'm merely returning her meal? This is rather troublesome... I'd prefer to not be around her too much.... Wait, what is this Kotemon talking about again? He speaks something rather alien...
"I'd be really thankful if you don't force your sense of grandeur adventure to my partner, Kotemon." Karin definitely isn't amused at that.
"...Pardon me, Mistress. What is that full-of-hot-air Digimon talking about?" Kyupimon inquired.
"Before we get to it, call me Karin, would you?"
"Negative, cannot do. While it's true I'm like this, I'm a Digimon that has quite the past experience from previous reincarnation, or rebirth if you would like. Therefore, please do tolerate me as this is how usually I carry myself."
"...What were you in the past?"
"I was a knight, if that what you meant. That alone should be sufficient, I hope?"
Prying further would seem less beneficial for their relationship. Karin know best than to pry further, so she stopped right there and start to translate what Kotemon said to Kyupimon and the rest. However, it doesn't seem that the mini angel Digimon views Kotemon in preferable light. Their personality clashes too much, so what Karin thought.

As Kotemon spoke, the only things that Nyaromon could make out of what she perceived as gibberish were "Kotemon" and his rather serious tone.
"Yes, Kotemon-sensei!" She assented, trying to sound serious herself, but failing miserably at doing so.
Yuu was kind of perplexed, he didn't know if her partner actually understood English or if she was just acting along, but after looking at her expression he chose the latter.
"This guy can be really obnoxious..." He thought as Kotemon continued with his speech, deciding to rather see how Nyaromon looked at Kyupimon as if she was her idol or something like that. He saw the admiration in her eyes, but he just couldn't wrap his mind aroud it.
"She just returned the meal that she offered her in first place and now she treats her like her big sister? What a strange creature..." his train of thought was interrupted by a rather loud purr emitted by his partner as reaction of being petted. She was extremely happy and delighted of the attention, and even giggled at Duffer's words.
"You're so funny, Kitty Kitty-san!" she replied.
Even though Yuu's guffaws were silent, he covered his mouth his one of his hands, trying to be polite. So his partner didn't understand English, but pretended to. It was kind of cute. She then heard Kyupimon and Karin's conversation.
"You were a knight, onee-sama? That's so cool! I was a..." she trailed off, a thoughtful expression on her face for half a second before she returned to her everlasting smile "I don't remember, but there's no way I could have been as cool as onee-sama!" She then looked at Kotemon with almost as much admiration
"You were something cool too, Kotemon-sensei?"

Kotemon paused as he went through the phrasebook to find a translation. "Oh..." He paused again. <I... I do not know. I don't think digimon are supposed to remember that.> He said, translating himself thanks to the book.... and smiling at being referred to as a sensei. <I will have to look it up... and his name is not Kitty Kitty, it's Duffer.> Kotemon sighed as he tried to pull his tamer away from the adorable creature. "Focus, we need to get back to your homework... you know, part of the reason we came out here? So I could help you with that while dealing with your stupid fears?"
"Well I can't read japanese..." The tamer said, wanting to go back to petting nyaromon. "They had it run through an english-language program! You're a foreign-exchange student, of course they'd have thought about that! Now sit down and learn about Japanese History." "But I don't get it, they never even mention Fu-Manchu..." "He's probably in the back..." Kotemon mumbled, digging into his partner's backpack to get his schoolwork out. This had two reasons: A. to keep Duffer from being sent back to America without a plan to bring him and B. cut Duffer out of the conversation entirely so Kotemon could remain the brains and brawns of the two.

"...What is this Fu-Manchu you're talking of? Some kind of Chinese person?" a rather perplexed question came from Karin herself. Had she had her phone, she would already run a search engine on it. She know that she sounds really impolite, contrast to her previous indifferent air, but that's just... funny. Is he supposed to go to Chinatown or something?
Meanwhile, the Kyupimon looks rather troubled being idolized by the black Nyaromon. She just got a fragment from her past life, so she really can't elaborate, but... this little girl already fawns over her too much. Her attempt to calm the black furball by repeatedly saying 'it's nothing much, you shouldn't be focused at that too much' is quite a funny sight to behold.
"...That aside, Mr. Duffer, while I'm a little unsure of my ability in Japanese History, at least I can help you a bit in some questions you need help with. It's only fair to help after you helped us regarding this matter about Digimon."

"Fu-Manchu? I don't recall nobody in our history called that... Let's see" Came Yuu's "voice" as he searched for that name "Well, according to this wiki, Fu Manchu is a fictional character created by a British Author. He seems to be the archetypal evil genius... So I guess you won't be reading anything of him from a history book anytime soon. But as Karin said, I guess it's only fair to help you back if you got any problems with your homework" He approached near where Kotemon was, trying to get a look at Duffer's schoolwork to see more or less what it was about.
Meanwhile, it seemed that the more that Kyupimon tried to dismiss Nyaromon's attention, the more she got back from her. It was kind of fun to watch.
"So you had a sword and you fought for justice and peace?! That's soooo cool onee-sama! And then what you did? You fought evil people? How evil they were? Surely they weren't a match for you, I'm pretty sure that onee-sama was undefeatable!
The scene made Yuu chuckle. He started to wonder when he'd step in and retrieve his digimon, but let her be for now. Her expression was so happy and blissful even though the only thing she was doing was idolizing a digimon that only gave back the food that she had offered. Ultimately, he hoped that if Kyupimon had an outburst, it didn't end hurting her too much.

Kotemon grabbed the English to Japanese book and went over to the little digimon, hoping to make a few friends. <So...> He began, digging through the book. <How does... no, what do you think of your... hm... you know, I've never thought about this... if they hatched the egg, does that make them our mothers? ...I hope not...> Kotemon sighed, looking at his tamer with worry.
"What about The Grudge?" Duffer asked... then dropped the subject, sighing. "Nevermind, I should focus on a few day's worth of work anyway..." He frowned. As the day drove on it becoming quite clear he'd just make things up for answers and just keep guessing until someone got fed up and told him the real answer. His handwriting was awful, and went over, between, outside, inside, everywhere but ON the lines he was supposed to write on. It would become apparent Duffer had never actually read the history book.

"The Grudge is the American version of Ju-On film, right?" being quite fan of horror movies, Karin asked.
Kyupimon again overwhelmed by the question, but sighed at the mention of 'fighting for justice'.
"...What's exactly justice? I don't know. I don't know what's in people mind when they talk about justice. Being a knight and fight in the battlefield is not as glamorous as you think. For better or worse, a lot of memory from that time doesn't passed to this life's me. I only remember how lonely it was when you're no longer a use for both your troops and general. Does that satisfy you?" Kyupimon asked the overexcited Nyaromon, a bit on the cold edge.
The Kotemon approached them, and seem to struggle a bit with the phrasebook. It's quite an admirable thing, to trying to communicate despite the obvious language barrier. However, the Kyupimon seem have something else in mind, smirking slightly...
"Mistress, would you mind if I impose a bit to you?"
"Ah, you want me to translate?"
"Yes. Please say to that Kotemon... More or less, that's a right way to see things. Partner is the mother or father, because they're the one that feed you and raise you, so as unreliable your partner is, striking against them is a domestic violence against parent."
Karin translated it without thinking much, but... ...Wait, what?

Nyaromon heard Kyupimon's strange explanation, and made her best face of "I really really really understand what you're talking about" failing at both doing the face and getting the gist of Kyupimon's speech.
"Well, you should have just said that, onee-sama! You don't have to be alone any longer, because now you have both Karin-okaasan and onee-chan beside you! Look! Even Kotemon-sensei's approaching!"
Kotemon too made a question that Nyaromon's mind found rather obvious.
"Of course they're our parents!" She answered. "Even though he uses a funny device to talk, Yuu-ottousan is the best father ever! And even though she didn't hatched my egg, Karin-okaasan is onee-sama's mother, so she must be my mother too!" She said with her smile growing even bigger. "So if you're my sensei, that must mean that Duffer-san should be my uncle. We have pretty big family! Don't you think?" Yuu scratched the back of his head at Nyaromon's logic "She's just too naïve. He barely knew these people, and even though they proved to be somewhat helpful, he don't know if it's safe to trust them yet" He thought, but forgot about it once he heard what Karin had said about domestic violence and her expression after she realized what she just said.
"Tha-at's a p-pretty goo-ood one!" The robotic voice said. He almost couldn't type because of his laughter.

Kotemon frowned. <I hurt him so he doesn't hurt himself. He is a fool and a coward, but hopefully I will teach him to be a proper creature. You two must also teach your humans.> Kote smiled at Nyaromon's youthful obliviousness, rewarding her with a few pets before going back to the book. <Just because humans look similar do not mean they are related, Nyaromon...> Then a rather mean thought popped into Kotemon's head. <Perhaps you should ask your daddy to see your grandparents. I'm sure they'd love to meet you.>
Duffer's failure to figure out basic history ave way to his English homework, which he breezed through, thankfully to his American heritage... then came his math. As he stared at the formula for acceleration and became distracted by his pencil it became clear there was a reason he'd been skipping school so often besides Kotemon's influence.

Teaching, disciplining... yes, they're too different. It's not a farfetched thing to say that if Kotemon stays to have that kind of delusion toward his partner and other people's partner, they'll sooner or later clash.Authoritarian kind of relationship like that doesn't sit well with her. However, for now, it's a suicide to go 1-1 against Kotemon. If only she can go to Champion form... yes, that form... then, it won't be too much of a trouble.
"I think my Mistress is kind enough to me. There's no need for discipline," Kyupimon commented.
...However, she really is perplexed at the black Nyaromon's view that they're all siblings. That's a bit hard. Karin looks rather unamused, probably because she have a sweetheart at another place? Or is it that she thinks being in relationship is troublesome? Kyupimon have no idea, but best to perish the thought and straighten the situation a bit.
"...I'm kidding, partners aren't exactly your parents, although they act like one, Nyaromon. Therefore, rather than parents, I think it's best to think them as siblings, best friend or something similar," Kyupimon explained.
"...I'm sorry, no offense to Tsumura-san, but we're just practically strangers, and you know, you can't marry someone you just met. Such scenario only come from fairytales," Karin deadpanned.
"Either way, what should we do next? I, myself, are thinking it's best if we go to Digital World as soon as possible," Kyupimon pointed out.
