Mandrake's father, a Jijimon named Theron, was rummaging through his home as if looking for something amidst his various magical artifacts before scratching his chin. He was trying to remember where he put what he was searching for as not only did it mean a lot to him but he needed it for something he had a feeling he knew was coming. Both his son and Lothar had always been close but they were more than friends and even had children. Shaking his head he thought of Mandrake and knew what he would think of regarding this form of meddling and chuckled. In that way he was a lot like his mother whom he missed with all his heart.
Continuing to root through the shelves he sensed two familiar presenses enter the Village of Magic and were making their way to his humble home. When he heard a sharp knock on his door he called out. "Crystal. Fang. Come on in. I'm home."
Upon hearing Theron Lothar's parents entered. Lothar's mother, an IceLeomon named Crystal, looked around spotting Theron as she made room for her husband Fang who was a GrapLeomon with solid black armor and gold turbines on his arms and legs. Fang stayed quiet as he was not exactly what one would call the chatty type. Crystal smiled at her husband before walking up to Theron's cauldron in the center of his living room so she could see the shelf he was rooting through and asked "Hey, Theron, what are you looking for?"
Theron turned to his guests and said "Oh I was looking for a certain special magical item but I can't remember where on the shelves I put it. I put it there some time before our boys were born but it must of been moved some time ago." He then turned back to the shelf and rooted around in some unlikely corners of the shelves.
"Must be quite special if you're looking for it, Theron." Crystal said as she watched him dig around.
"It is. I was planning on gifting it to Mandrake's mother, Ebony, but tragically she was murdered before I was able to." Theron said his voice sounding sad before he spotted a familiar box and perked up as he said "Ah hah! There it is!" Plucking the small box up that had found its way to the back of one of his shelves before he turned and headed for the middle of the room near Crystal and Fang, who was now sitting on the floor not far from the cauldron but got up to see what Theron had found. The box looked much like the box that a wedding ring would be in but a bit bigger. When Theron opened the box to show Lothar's parents it was easy to see why the box was a bit bigger. Inside the box was two matching sapphire necklaces on a gold chain and by looking at the jewels they were meant to fit together to form a heart. Not only that the sapphires had a gentle glow to them that made the sapphires stand out more.
"Theron, those necklaces are beautiful but why are there two in such a manner unless..." Crystal started before coming to a halt as if piecing the purpose of the necklaces together.
Theron smiled as he had read her mind before he said "Yes, Crystal, I was going to propose to Ebony and ask her to live in the village with me but sadly things did not work out that way. I, however, was thinking of giving these necklaces to my son and Lothar since our boys do love each other."
"Shame our boys haven't proposed to each other despite how much they care for each other. That and they have given us such beautiful grandchildren." Crystal said with a sigh as she say down next to her husband Fang who was content and quiet.
"Judging by what I've been reading from their minds during the last few times they visited it seems they wouldn't be against proposing to one another. They just need the means and these necklaces should be a push in the right direction."
"About those sapphires, Theron, since they are magic that glow must mean something, right?" Crystal asked as Theron closed the box the necklaces were in placing it in a small safe near the shelf.
"Indeed they are. In this village it is traditional for sapphires to be given in honor of the giant one that protects this village. The sapphires are charged with magic that bonds with the couple that recieves them and if one of the couple dies both sapphires are destroyed. In essence the sapphires are a magical representation of the bond between the couple." Theron explained.
"Aww! That is such a lovely tradition. Not to mention romantic as well." Crystal cooed with her hands over her chest looking as if she would melt into a puddle of goo from the warm fuzzy feelings. Fang sighed but couldn't help but smile as if his wife's feelings were contagious.
"So, Theron, do you need any help with this plan of yours?" Fang asked speaking up for the first time since he got there.
Chuckling Theron shook his head before he answered "No, Fang, I don't think I'll need any help and I'll contact you two if this plan works. Can't have my son's potential future in laws left out of the loop now can I?"
Crystal and Fang couldn't help but burst out laughing at that answer causing Theron to laugh too. Soon Lothar's parents got up and after Crystal gave Theron a hug the pair left the Jijimon's home heading out of the village. Smiling Theron started sorting the mess he made in his search all while making his plans for when he would see his son and his boyfriend again. By the time he was done cleaning up the sun had gone down and he made himself a late dinner before eating it and going to bed.
