Light Within the Darkness(Arthur)(Hunt)

Some time had passed once again since Arthur had his latest adventure and this one was the one wherein Arthur and his Sprite Spirit, aka "Wormmon" had actually been transported to a completely different realm other than the regular Digital World due to the Digi-Port malfunctioning at the time. Over the course of the time they had spent in this strange world, they had both been granted special powers which were ultimately instrumental in them finding their way back to the Digital World and from there to their home in the Human World. Since then, Arthur had once again gotten back to the grind of his daily life of high society training, his scholarly duties as a student of Tokyo U., assisting his parents with the running of the business conglomerate owned and ran by their family, and so on. In this manner, time had marched on for Arthur until present day wherein, he was currently gearing up for another sojourn into through the Digital World

Ah, are we readying ourselves for another sojourn into my home, the Digital World, Master Edogawa?

Arthur heard his "Wormmon" Sprite spirit speak thusly in his mindscape while appearing in ethereal form as per his usual preference and so, he also manifested mental avatar in his mindscape in order to talk to said spirit digimon

Indeed, we are, my friend. You see, I had gotten a client request from a client in the Digital World, you see. Apparently, some of their friends had wandered into the Dark Area on a dare...and subsequently had managed to become quite lost therein...and now it falls to us to go rescue them on behalf of this client...it is a rather troublesome affair, but work is work, right?

To that, he heard his "Wormmon" spirit remark with what seemed like a bemused expression in his eyes

Great Scott, now that DOES indeed sound like a tricky request to fulfill, but yes, we cannot simply ignore this, Master Edogawa...so let us be off with all due haste.

With that, the matter was settled, and then Arthur prepared his gear and dressed himself quickly in his usual job attire and once he was done, he activated his "EV Suit" and "Analog Jammer" devices as well as his "Hover Craft" auxiliary vehicle which was basically a futuristic-looking hoverboard, getting on and calibrating his balance according to the given instructions for it. Finally, he checked to see that none of his personal care maid squad members, (i.e., Rose, Lily, and Jasmine) were anywhere in the vicinity of his bedchambers and after he was satisfied with the results of his check, he opened the Digi-Port with his D-Tector via the usual command phrase and action

"Digi-Port Open! Dark Area!"

With that the standard sliver of the Digi-Port's swirling black void opened in the air directly in front of him and then he tugged on it to open it fully



Then, he stepped inside and within the next minute or so, he was instantly teleported to said destination in the Digital World. However, when he got there, he was confronted by a rather strange sight as the portal had opened a few paces from what looked like a rather swiftly flowing river. Upon it, some sort of feline-esque digimon was currently standing atop the water with two young men accompanying it.

Now there is a sight one does not encounter everyday...surely that IS a digimon...given that it seems to be a big cat with a dorsal fin...your thoughts, Wormmon?

He spoke mentally to his "Wormmon" Sprite Spirit and inquired about its take on the sight that greeted them upon his landing on the ground some paces away from the riverbank. To that said spirit digimon replied, again mentally, while outwardly, Arthur simply looked like he was lost in thought with a hint of curiosity in his otherwise hollow, coal-black eyes with the usual chronic sleep-deprivation-induced prominent dark circles beneath them that seemed to be an ever-present feature of his face

You are correct, Master Edogawa...according to my incoming sensory data, that is DEFINITELY a digimon...though, what sort it is and so on, I could not begin to say as it is one that is entirely unfamiliar to me...though I suppose it could be a Beast type one...judging from its form...and judging from how it is standing atop the water with such ease...maybe its element is water, or perhaps it has some sort of skill that allows that?

Arthur heard his "Wormmon" Sprite Spirit theorize thus during their ongoing conversation in his mindscape and so, he decided to end the conversation there, disconnected from his mindscape and focused his attention on the situation at hand, but simply chose to observe the two humans and one digimon before him before doing anything else while standing still and perfectly balanced atop his hoverboard which was floating in midair currently.

Arthur had been watching the giant feline with a dorsal fin on her back interact with the two humans and thanks to his keen hearing even in his human form, he could hear bits and pieces of the conversation, so he merely kept watch over the trio to observe them further. However, towards the end, the giant feline with a dorsal fin seemed to notice his presence finally, event though he had his "Analog Jammer" device full active in an effort to hide his presence.

So...this "Analog Jammer" does not prevent visual detection of the user, eh? I shall file that data away for future reference in my mental dossier...

Musing thus silently, he activated his hoverboard's movement function with the command phrase he had picked out when calibrating it to his specifications after purchase while doing an overly dramatic and theatrical pose miming pointing a lance forward like a knight about to ride into battle on his trusty warhorse and making his voice characteristics suit said pose as well as loud enough so the trio could hear him

"RACE FORTH FASTER THAN LIGHTNING, O YE LOYAL STEED OF MINE, SLEIPNIR MK1!!!"

With that, the hoverboard which was holding him aloft zoomed forward at high velocity towards the trio and came to a perfect dead stop just a couple steps away from them with him standing perfectly still atop it at which point, he greeted them with a rather theatrical bow and flourish like one would see from an actor playing a role in the finest of Shakespearean theater and then remarked

"Greetings to one and all, strangers. My name is Herlock Solmes and it is a pleasure to make your acquaintances on this fine day. How do you do? You need not worry about my presence here, for I do come in peace with the best of intentions."

He spoke thus with a slight smirk on his thin lips, revealing his voice to be a naturally rich baritone and melodious one, and his diction to be perfect rivaling that of the most veteran of public orators and also revealing him to be the scion of one of the four greatest business families in all of Japan due to their access to exclusive world-class private tutors and so on in terms of education, judging from his perfectly practiced cordial businessman's tone. When speaking, his voice was perfectly steady and tranquil as well with his volume perfectly tuned just like every other characteristic of his speech. His accent, if they could make it out, was British at the moment and the only thing marring his presentation was perhaps the rather prominent dark circles under his hollow-looking black eyes which were caused by his chronic or near-chronic sleep deprivation which was, in turn, due to his ever-active bad habit of overworking himself and forgetting his bodily needs in the process until he could no longer ignore them. After that greeting, he straightened back up, fell silent, and awaited whatever reaction the three may have to him and his behavior and speech.

Arthur beheld the interaction between Stacy and her brothers with an amused smirk on his thin lips and realized that among the three, she was clearly the head honcho. He was about to say something with regards to that, but then Stacy got her words in first, so he merely listened calmly to what she asked of him and then replied in that same cordial tone from before, and he took care to use a perfect French accent when using the honorifics for each of the three

"Indeed, I see you are familiar with the works of the 'King of Mystery Novels', then. So, Mademoiselle Stacy, Monsieur Christopher, and Monsieur Timothy, eh? Fine names they are, and I shall remember them henceforth."

After that, he moved on to the next matter on his agenda, namely, confirming Stacy's connection as well as that of her brothers to digimon and the Digital World at large

"So, Mademoiselle Stacy...please pardon my curiosity on the matter, but I take it you are either a spirit user, judging from the fact you turned from the digimon form you had earlier to this human form you have now...or perhaps you are actually a digimon who has just now activated her holosuit? Furthermore, if I may be so forward in asking, are your brothers here also acquainted at all with digimon and the Digital World?"

He asked in return, his tone filled with the same curiosity that Stacy's was earlier and then he fell silent, waiting for whatever the three would do and say next.

The chaos between the siblings seemed to have died down in due course as Arthur beheld them further and now, he noticed Timothy was still watching him like a hawk, sizing him up presumably, so he addressed him first with his usual, well-practiced, cordial businessman's smile present on his thin lips

"Ah, I see you are still rather wary of me, Herr Timothy...but I assure you, I come in peace with only the most innocuous of well-meaning intentions. Furthermore, our encounter here is one governed by nought but sheer serendipity. So, please, you need not be so guarded in your manner as I pose absolutely no threat to any of you, though perhaps it IS understandable given that is our very first meeting ever."

Arthur said in a perfectly natural sounding German accent, holding his palms up in a gesture of peace in an effort to extend an olive branch to Timothy. After that, he dropped his hands to his side and then turned his attention to Stacy, responding to her remarks with that same well-practiced, cordial businessman's smile present on his thin lips

"I see, that was quite informative, so thank you for that explanation, Señorita Stacy. Regarding myself, you are indeed correct. I happen to be possess one of the Spirits of Knowledge, a Wormmon to be precise. Though, from what you mentioned just now, I presume digimon have the ability to take on different forms other than their main line ones? Or is that perhaps something specific to your spirits, if I may ask?"

After saying this in a perfectly natural sounding Spanish accent, he did a brief show and tell by snapping his fingers once, as per usual signaling his "Wormmon" Sprite spirit to manifest beside him in visible, ectoplasmic form for all to behold at which point said spirit introduced himself to Stacy and her brothers



"Greetings and salutations to one and all, I am Wormmon, one of the Spirits of Knowledge, and am in the service of young Master Solmes here. It is a distinct pleasure and honor to make all of your acquaintances."

Thus spoke Arthur's "Wormmon" Sprite spirit in a similarly respectful, cordial, and sophisticated tone and vocabulary as did Arthur and after that, the spirit digimon bowed in the way of respect to Stacy and her brothers, or at least tried to as far as its insectoid body allowed of it. After that, both Arthur and his "Wormmon" Sprite spirit fell silent and awaited whatever reaction their audience would have to them.

Arthur listened as Stacy and one of her brothers, namely Christopher, explained why Timothy (i.e., their other sibling) was acting the way he was and afterwards, he remarked

"Ah, I see now. Thank you for elucidating that, friends. I can see the bond between the three of you is a strong one indeed, as the one between siblings ought to be, so you have nothing to apologize for here."

With that said, Arthur proceeded to shake hands with Timothy after said sibling of Stacy's had accepted his explanation of having come in peace and not to cause any trouble. Once that was done, Arthur turned his attention to Stacy and her explanation of how her digivolution line had a branching path while those of her brothers did not possess such features and then remarked

"Wait, I have read about the 'Gotsumon' species and the 'Hyokomon' species of digimon as well...but I do not ever remember reading any tomes and scrolls describing a digimon called this 'Hinookamimon' that you have mentioned just now and you mentioned it was also an ancient spirit? Could it be some sort of special and exotic one about which data has not been recorded in the 'The Great Moving Library', perhaps? Hmm, that is quite intriguing, indeed! It would seem I have yet more studying and mystery investigation in the Digital World to do, just the way I like it!"

Arthur inquired with his thin lips stretching into an excited grin along with his hithertofore dead, hollow, black eyes now coming alive with the telltale gleam of curiosity and excitement as would be those of a child in a candy store or maybe a toy store on Christmas eve, revealing himself as one of those types of people who was at his happiest when discovering new knowledge and encountering never-before-seen mysteries and pursuing their study. After that, Arthur went on to Timothy's remark about how the "Wormmon" Sprite Spirit hovering next to him could manifest in ethereal form as it did and how it could talk to strangers while none of theirs could do something like that

"I see, I had been under the impression that such a feature was perhaps ubiquitous among all Spirit digimon regardless of nature...but perhaps not...and now I have yet another mystery to investigate in this world, good heavens...this world certainly is full of them, eh? I do know that my 'Wormmon' Spirit is one of the 'Spirits of Knowledge', so maybe this ability he seems to have is related in some way to that? Of course, I have not met any other such 'Spirits of Knowledge', so I do not have a standard of comparison to employ in this regard...wait, another question if you would please allow of me, so are all Spirits themed after some concept like mine is? For instance, let us take your spirits...do they possess a theme of sorts, if I may ask?"

With that, Arthur fell silent and awaited whatever response and reaction the three siblings before him would have to his remarks while his "Wormmon" Sprite Spirit kept a lookout for any signs of trouble in the area around them, but yet did not show any external signs of it as per his predetermined plan with Arthur.

Arthur listened intently to all that the three siblings had to say to him regarding their digimon lines and once they were done, he began

"Three distinct branching lines, eh? They all seem to be so different from one another...but I suppose that since they do still have the mammalian aspect in common with each other, they do still satisfy whatever this world's criteria are for spirits. Thanks for enlightening me, Ms. Stacy. If it is alright with you, I would definitely be interested in seeing each of them in action sometime, if you are amenable to this, of course...and the same goes for the both of you, Mr. Timothy and Mr. Christopher as your lines seem quite intriguing as well."

After that, he paused to collect his thoughts, but something else in what Stacy mentioned caught him by surprise, though the only indicator of this was his slightly widened eyes, and of course, his response to it

"Wait a moment, I beg your pardon, Ms. Stacy...but did you just say you received instructions to come out here from your dearly departed mother in a dream you had recently? That is certainly otu of the ordinary...though I suppose, given the mysterious nature of the Digital World, anything of such a nature is still within the realm of plausibility."

Then, since he felt it right to give his side of the story as to why he was in this section of the Dark Area, Arthur explained his reasons briefly

"In my case, however, I am out here investigating a mysterious disappearance of the offspring of one digimon family in my acquaintance...apparently their children had wandered into this area before vanishing without any apparent trace...so I was hired by them to track them down, investigate the causes for it, and of course, to bring them back safe and sound if at all possible."

Once that was done, Arthur fell silent and both he and his "Wormmon" sprite spirit awaited whatever response the three siblings would have to his story.

Arthur nodded as he listened intently to what the three siblings had to say about their spirits and filed the information away for future reference, and so he commented on it

"My, that is quite the wide variety of forms you have there. It must be quite handy to have access to all of those, eh?"

However, what Stacy said next caught his attention and so he remarked in response, with that same curious look on his face

"Deja vu? So you have perhaps met someone like me before, Ms. Stacy? That is quite intriguing, indeed."

After that, Arthur fell silent and listened onward and at that point, Stacy directed everyone's attention to the task at hand, namely her hunt for her Mega-level spirit and so, Arthur inquired about it as it had piqued his curiosity

"A key? So then, does that mean it is some sort of totem again like I have read about from the tomes and scrolls I have come across in that library or perhaps it is something else in form entirely, Ms. Stacy?"

After that, Arthur fell silent again and awaited whatever information Stacy and her brothers had to give him.
