Fragment Village. The home of the unwanted. Of outcasts. Of undesirables. It was a place you lived if you had nowhere else to go...or simply wished to be unbothered and unnoticed by the majority of the digital world. A village of junk and outcasts it may have been but that made it the perfect hiding place...until today. It was a simple fact of business that one would always have rivals and today, Aiko was here in this junkyard village to rub out one very determined rival. She’d even managed to rope in a gullible fool of a tamer to help her out. It was rather unfair and maybe more than a little cruel to prey upon the innocent naivete of the youthful but ah...it’s not like Aiko was not going to reward him for his work. The would-be crime boss remained seated upon a nearby hunk of junk, the rusted car proving to be a tolerable (but not comfortable) seat. Her legs dangled over the edge, idly swaying back and forth, a lackadaisical motion of disinterest as she simply whiled away the moments. “ Ah...where is that delightfully charming young lad? Perhaps I should have travelled with him…well, I’m sure his little partner can keep him out of trouble.” Even as amoral as she was, Aiko would have felt a small pang of guilt if the young man died before even getting here. Losing an asset as easily manipulated, and hopefully useful, as the sucker roped into this little escapade would have been a true tragedy. Human lives may be transitory and temporary but to cut one short before they had a real chance to do anything entertaining would have simply been a waste. The residents of the village had been keeping a close eye upon this visitor...no this intruder but Aiko was unconcerned. She had merely smiled her devilishly disarming smile at them, ideally waving their concerns away before she had taken her current seat. Aiko did have to wonder how these mutants, outcasts, undesirables and nerdowells would react once she started kicking their doors down and assaulting one of their fellow villagers but that was a bridge to cross when she reached it. For now, she was merely waiting for her pawn to arrive on the board.

Reward Requested: Bits David slowly strode through the junk village, looking around and keeping a frantic watch on all sides. Atop his head, the ModokiBetamon Ziggy tried his best to remain steady and undizzied. How had they even come to be in a place like this? The whole place radiated an energy that made David uneasy. It was well outside his normal comfort zone. Still, someone here needed help. And far be it from a proud member of the Moonstone Travellers to deny aid to anyone, regardless of location. The boy swallowed hard and he pressed onward, supressing his fear of all things unable to be put into words.
Deftly, though ungracefully, avoiding any and all contact, the pair made their way over to a meeting point. One specific junk pile among many. Landmarks were hard when an entire village was made of rubble.
"He-hello? Miss?" David meekly called out to his contact, sat quite cooly atop a totaled vehicle. Had he been in better spirits, perhaps he would have wondered how a whole car got here. Alas, he was not. "My name's David, and this is Ziggy. We heard you needed some help dealing with a bully?" Everyone is searching for a world where they belong. A place of light, free of falsehood.

Ah here he was. Aiko’s eyes rested upon the approaching form of David, her lips pulling apart in a knowing and malicious grin. It was always nice to know that your schemes had begun to pan out. As always and ever, the game both started and ended with Aiko’s victory. It was a conceited attitude but one that was often proven to be correct. The crime boss leapt down from the junk she had been sitting upon, shoes sending a small cloud of dust up as her cape billowed out. Confident and knowing steps carried Aiko towards David, an arrogant grin decorating her features. She looked down upon the young child, right hand resting upon her hips before her gaze drifted upwards to take in the details of his partner. A green almost aquatic creature hm? Interesting really. Aiko had no partner of her own, instead being saddled with that voice in her hand. The gnawing and constant presence that fed her darker impulses, along with generally being a nuisance but she supposed that was the cost to pay for being a spirit user. “ Mmm it’s good to see you. I was concerned you had gotten lost on the way here young man and….yes. In a sense I do suppose I need help with a bully but it goes a little beyond that. This bully is no mere bully. He’s a bad guy. A criminal. A danger. They have been constantly attacking both myself and my place of business, both in the digital world and the real world.” Shockingly, Aiko was not actually telling a lie. The digimon she wanted rubbed out had been enacting data attacks on her place of business and had tried to assassinate her on a few occasions. “Now my dear David-kun, this digimon is at champion level. An Apemon to be exact. Are you ready? Oh, it is good to meet you both.” Aiko’s hand reached down to the ostentatiously golden D-tector worn on her waist, fingers dancing over its surface, ready to grab it for digivolution at the slightest provocation.

Something was wrong with all of this. Mostly it was the vagueness of it all. What was it this Apemon had done that needed mercenary intervention. Is that what David was right now? A mercenary? He supposed so.
Wait, am I getting paid for this? Perhaps that should have been worked out in advance. Too late now. Aiko did look loaded, though. Maybe it was the complex outfit. Maybe it was the flashy digivice. Too loaded for this place, at least.
"Good to meet you, too." Talking was always good to clear the head. And this lady was so polite. She was clearly capable in her own right. Nobody with a D-Tector wasn't. "So where is this Apemon?"
"And what exactly is he doing that's so dangerous? The more we know, the better that our erm...negotiations...will go." Too vague. Everything was too vague. Ziggy knew that if they didn't want to be blindsided, information was king. "And will you be joining us?" Everyone is searching for a world where they belong. A place of light, free of falsehood.

“ Here young man. We may not have discussed this before but I trust you’ll accept my donation?” Aiko reached into the folds of her clothing, hand rummaging through an inside pocket until she finally withdrew a rather large wad of yen, 500,000 to be exact. This wad was then split in half, with one half being handed towards David and the other subtly hidden away back inside the depths of Aiko’s attire. “ I trust 250,000 yen will suffice? Or would you prefer it in bits? Money is not a major barrier for me to overcome.” Ah the joys of being in a career as well paying as Aiko’s. Having a great deal of spending money, something helped by the data analyst living alone, had many uses. “ Ah?...Hmmm. He’s tried to kill me, on numerous occasions. He’s broken into my employer’s servers, stolen confidential data and even tried to cause electrical fires. Putting myself at risk is one thing but my own co-workers? That is simply unacceptable...and yes, I will be. I am a spirit user after all.” Aiko brought her D-tector, as gold and ostentatious as it was, up from her belt, idly shaking it side to side before hooking it back onto her belt. “So yes, I will be joining you….as for where he is...why, he’s right there.” Aiko reached her hand out towards a simple junk shack, pointing a single finger towards the structure. It was hardly the most pleasant place to live but it was definitely a good place to lie low but not good enough it seemed.

The target was just right here? Was it really safe for Aiko to just be sitting out in the open so close to someone who had apparently tried to kill her on numerous occasions? Was it safe for David and Ziggy to be exposed as well? They were, after all, just conspiring with Apemon's enemy and were about to go knocking on their door. What if they had been seen? Well, once again it was too late for such thoughts.
The duo, or possibly trio, approached the door to Apemon's ramshackle hovel. David raised up his arm, ready to knock, when he was interrupted by his partner. "Wait, David. I think we should take a moment to prepare before just going in. It's possible that Apemon could get the jump on us. And you know what they say-"
"'Never escalate a situation?'" Words to live by, surely. Zordon would be proud of David for remembering such lessons in a time like this. If he were alive, that is. Or real.
"I was thinking more 'There's no kill like overkill.'" Ziggy stated without hesitation, his normal meek and over-protective-parent-like persona being overwritten by the non-canon state of this prompt.
"Ye-yeah. I guess so." It made sense. They had no idea what Apemon was capable of, so going overboard was the safest bet. David pulled out his black and gold Digivice and held it aloft with both hands. "It's Evolvin' Time."
A pure white light engulfed the small Betamon. Its body contorted and elongated as data was being constantly rewritten and overwritten. His body became just a single white line, massive in size. This went beyond Champion. Beyond Ultimate. As the light dissipated and Ziggy's new body came into clear view, there lay the Mega level threat of a MetalSeadramon. David couldn't tell, but it looked like his body might be longer than the entirety of Fragment Village.
Ziggy didn't even need orders from his tamer at this point. He was taking charge. The long metal snakey boi's nose pressed right up against the door to Apemon's shack before pushing forwards. The door would shatter and splinter and even some of the walls surrounding the door would get damaged by the intrusion of his massive head.
"HAVE YOU HEARD THE GOOD NEWS ABOUT JESMON'S GLORIOUS KINGDOM?" Everyone is searching for a world where they belong. A place of light, free of falsehood.

Well, in this case, I'm going to give a one-off half reward because both of you almost reached the target but didn't quite get there.
Aiko gets 2500 bits! David gets 2500 bits!
