Ciel grabbed the side of her wrists which was bruised a bit badly, though nothing she couldn't recover from. She had a lot of noticeable damage on her at the time as she walked through the hills. "Heh, to think I used to be able to knock him down, what a joke." Ciel muttered a bit darkly to herself as she trekked onward back towards Terminus, she got a bit too worried about Alpha and Beta while out training and wanted to make sure they were alright. Slowly though her steps slowed down as she stopped for a moment right outside Rosewood.
"Even if they were in danger, not like I could help as I am." Ciel looked down at the heavy gauntlets around her arms and the massive sword on her back, she was using Ultimate level weaponry yes but she didn't have all her strength back. "He said I should take it easy for a spell, I know he's right but..." Ciel looked at the ground for a moment letting out a small sigh. "I can't get myself down, I have to be strong for the two of them!" Thankfully Alpha and Beta weren't with her to see her get down on herself, she had to keep her chin up, she was getting stronger she was sure of it. After all she could lift her weapons up now, it was just a matter of regaining her muscle memory.
As she walked absentmindedly through the hills she came to a rather curious spot near Rosewood, standing on a rather large hill surrounded three others with one large space in the middle, she thought she saw some sort of building in the middle section. "Haven't seen this place before?" That peaked her curiosity enough so with a small step Ciel started sliding down towards the building from the top of the hill wondering why someone would build something outside of the town?

She would hear the sound of hammering somewhere down at the center of the valley, and as she got closer she would also hear cursing. She saw a young man there, a jacket tied around his waist, bare from there up save for a pair of well worn gloves. He was hammering something, what looked like a bedframe...if you squinted and turned your head a little bit. He wasn't doing a single part of the process correctly, it wasn't assembled with the right balance, he wasn't even using the right kind of nail. It wasn't surprising when it all fell apart, from the scraps scattered around him this probably wasn't the first project to crumble on him today.
"GOD DAMMIT!" He said, kicking one of the planks of wood, tossing the hammer into the grass, losing it in pure, impotent rage at the failed project beneath him. He stood there looking down at it and Ciel could see his shoulders quaking, she could hear his voice turn into sniffs and sobs as he crumbled to his knees, hands over his face. "I can't...I c-can't do it...I don't know how...I don't know how..." He said, his voice filled to bursting with a bitter dejection and frustrations. He had built this shelter to help people and he couldn't even put together a damn bedframe. He had spent his entire life reading comics and practicing kicks and he couldn't even make a place for someone to sleep at night, even though he knew anyone coming here would be counting on him. it was too much, it was too much.
This had evidently been weighing on him for a while, this platonic, historical ideal of masculinity. He had people who were counting on him and he couldn't deliver. He didn't really know how to cook, he couldn't make things, he couldn't fix things. The struggle weighed down on his shoulders like it was fit to crush him.

As Ciel slid down towards the bottom it was pretty clear she was hearing familiar sounds of a hammer hitting something, not metal as she was used to but if she was to put her head to it she would assume it was wood. Also a lot of cursing which made her slightly glad that neither of her kids had joined her towards this area. Lifting her head up slightly to get a better look while keeping her hand lazily on her sword just in case she got to see what he was doing.
Or at the very least what he wasn't doing, even from this distance everything just seemed a bit messed up from the angle to what he was hammering. Remaining a good distance away Ciel thought about leaving, obviously this man was going through some trouble at this moment and she didn't want to make anything worse but as he slumped down to his knees sniffing and sobbing aloud she couldn't just walk away.
So instead Ciel decided to approach the stranger, after all it was a human and even in her damaged state she was plenty sure she could handle any danger thrown her way. Walking up silently behind the human Ciel bent down to the sobbing man and gave a pat on the back, she still had the gauntlet so it was probably a cold pat but even still she hoped it was reassuring.
"Now now, getting down on yourself never solved anything, may I offer some advice?" Ciel decided to offer first, after all it was hard to introduce yourself to someone who was busy being mad at themselves and sobbing. While she waited for a response though she glanced around at the materials laid about, giving them a quick glance over to make sure they'd still be usable or fixed.

The poor man nearly jumped out of his skin, all of his surprising muscle sucking in tight like a vacuum seal as he jerked and yelped, looking up at her with eyes that were shocked open wide for a moment before settling. His heart was thumping loud enough to hear through his chest but he let out a long breath and managed to settle himself. Whatever the situation was with him currently, he had been fairly certain he was alone. It was something he would have to get used to what with the whole open door policy he was priding himself on offering.
"Hmm? *sniff*, sorry, sorry, you just umm...you caught me at a bad time..." He said, wiping his eyes with the heel of his hands and standing, untying the custom gold and bronze jacket from around his waist and throwing it over his shoulders so he wouldn't be totally shirtless while they talked, he pushed himself to stand. "Welcome to the shelter. We're uh, still trying to think of a name." he said, jerking a thumb to the faux gold plaque on the wall beside the door that describe the place in only a few words. "Shelter Inside. All Welcome. Food, Clothes, Beds. Whatever You Need" Even the lettering on the sign was more than a little shaky, obviously done by hand by someone who didn't have a whole lot of confidence with engraving. "And I mean, yea, absoulutley. If you can make heads or tails of any of this...to be honest it's been...I'm not...the kind of man I should be, handling stuff like this. I was always a reader, a guy with ideals, and when it comes to making them with my own hands...you can see how that goes." he said, softly kicking some of the debris like a dejected child kicking rocks.

Ciel let out a small eep as he jumped up with a loud thumping sound seemingly coming from his chest. "Oh my apologize, I really need to stop doing that..." Apparently this wasn't the first time that Ciel had snuck up on some humans on accident, she had a tendency to be very silent while moving due to years of training, even if she had hundreds of pounds of mental on her body at almost all times!
Ciel looked over at the plaque on the wall, the lettering was a bit off but Ciel didn't know if that was because whoever was carving it, assumed to be this young man, was unconfident or it was a stylistic choice... Most likely the former though. "I see, I had not heard of a Shelter in this area, a very kind thing to do." She complimented but even she could tell that it wasn't fully off the ground yet, more of a gesture at this point then anything.
A guy with ideals huh, Ciel could relate somewhat. "Ideals are powerful things, even if it takes quite a bit of practice to make them come to life, after all these weapons of mine started out as whimsical fantasy yet here they stand." Ciel reached behind her back and pulled the large gunsword off her back before walking slightly over and setting it on the ground nearby, it was much easier to work without something larger then your body on your back after all.
Afterwards she got to work going over to the headboard checking around with a close eye on the wood, the nails were definitely the wrong kind to be using for this project so by using the nails on her gauntlet she dug them out the best she could and looked around for a properly fitting one, making sure to carefully observe the tools she had available before setting it up, making mental note of where everything needed to go, the right balance to keep it at using a small barely noticeable mark using her gauntlets claws to make sure she hit it in the right spot.
"Usually I would use a pencil or something of the like but making a mark such as this will help you keep track of the point you need to hammer the nail into in order to make sure it is properly balanced, one for both sides. It's also very helpful if you ever must cut something in a straight line along with a ruler." Her voice was calm doing her best to not sound condescending in the slightest while she slowly worked on the headboard using what she had available.

"No, no, it's alright. I just sorta got lost in my own head and ended up shutting out the rest of the world. I'm sure you're well aware of the effect that...stress can...have...woah..." He said, looking up at the gleam on that massive blade, flinching a little as she stabbed it into the ground like a tent spike. She was lucky that things made in the digital world were usually made of sterner stuff than human world equivalents, doing that sort of thing to a sword in the human world was a good way to mess up the edge alignment for sure. "Now THAT is a BFS if I ever saw one. Like something out of an anime with no chill whatsoever." He said, rubbing the back of his sword before he heard her beginning to give him some real instructions.
He hunched down to watch intently, zipping up his jacket and tucking his hands in the pockets of the custom leather motorcycle coat. He watched closely as she worked, making a mental note of everything she was doing and saying, trying to memorize as much as he could in order to make himself better at this over time. He would need to get better at fixing and patching the practical things if this shelter of his was ever going to get off the ground.
"Yea, I have a pencil and a ruler here in the tool pile someplace. I figured I might need them cause I saw people using them on TV for stuff like this." He said bending over and rummaging through the tool pile, making a rattling noise as he pushed things aside or rolled them off the little hill of second hand tools. "Some of these came from a treasure hunt I went on with a friend of mine so it's all professional grade and stuff." He said, finally pulling out a fresh pencil and a straight edged metallic ruler, handing it over to her so that she could work as well as she wanted to.
"Do you want me to head inside and get you a drink or something? Maybe a snack? My kid is a really knitting whiz if you could use something like that. I just feel like I should pay you back for this random act of kindness." he said, not even acknowledging her compliments about him putting the shelter here or him saying he was a man of ideals. To him these weren't things he necessarily had any right to be proud of, to him it was just doing the obviously right thing and he didn't need praise for that, it was just who he was.

"Hmm?" Ciel heard the woah and looked over at Zack who seemed impressed by her sword. "Ahh yes, it's called the Zan revolver. It's design is based on a digimon named RizeGreymon X, a very large intimidating digimon with a gunsword of similar design attached to their hand." Ciel had a smile on her face reminiscing about when she first crafted the blade. "An old friend helped be craft that. She is a strong leader of a tribe of dragons over to the west. Cute too." Ciel muttered that last part under her breath, those were some good days back then.
While Zack was watching her work Ciel made sure to work a bit slower then she usually did, making sure each piece could be clearly seen before making the adjustment to fix it and attach it to each other so Zack could see with a smile on her face humming a small tune as she worked to herself.
"Ah perfect, suffice to say jobs like this require the right tools for the job. Never hurts to be too prepared after all. Though I must admit I am more used to working with metals and machinery, doing something like this is quite relaxing for me." This was exactly what she needed after a hard day of training, she wasn't making much progress with her training or recreating her destroyed gear so hopefully this could get her into a better mindset.
But when offered something Ciel hesitated for a moment. "You don't need to do that, I am benefiting plenty from this exchange already, I haven't been having the best few days so working on something like this helps clear my mind, just a simple process to follow. Let my mind be clear and have my tools do the talking sorta speak." she spoke as she worked using the pencil to mark where she needed to before carefully hammering the nails into place, muttering small details under her breath as she worked slowly but surely putting the pieces together.

"A friend of mine has a pair of Greymon boys of his own. You're not wrong, they're certainly something else when they want to be. Real powerhouses, taking some artificial cues from their natural strength probably wasn't a bad plan." He said, looking over at the sword, just outlining its shape with his gaze as he considered it. A small shiver went up his back at the sheer power of the implement. "My daughter and I we're...vigilantes, out there, fighting the good fight. Try to at least. I don't know that I could carry around a weapon like that. Physically it'd be too much for me, obviously but I mean like...I don't like to walk into fights with the intention of causing the kind of damage, if that makes sense." He said, hands in his pockets as he still traced the curve of the blade, the edge seeming dangerous enough by itself to make him quake a little bit.
"Look, at least let me get some bandages and disinfectant for your scratches and stuff, you look like you've been through the wringer. This IS a shelter after all, if you need something, even just to talk about it, it's what we're here for." He said, having to speak up so that he could still be heard as he walked into the entryway of the large manor house and picked a first aid kit Marigold had prepared off the wall. He knelt down next to her, pulling out some spray for the pain and some rolls of bandages. "You're really doing me a favor, the least I can do is at least try and give you something in return. Wouldn't feel right if I let you do all this work for free." He said.
He was still taking a deep mental note of everything she was doing, everything she was muttering to herself. This was a skillset he would need to have on a day to day basis so sucking up every ounce of information he could was a good place to start.

Ciel gave a small nod to show she was still paying attention as Zack mentioned a friend with a pair of Greymon's, twins she supposed which just caused her to recall her own pair of twins slightly more. Even more so when Zack started mentioning the kind of damage a weapon like that would cause which made the Sistermon pause for a moment. "It is not my intent to cause such damage I am afraid at this point in my life I require that power... No, I require more then that blade can give me. In order to protect my twin children I hold dear." Ciel shook her head a moment recalling a slightly bad memory before smothering it down. "A pair of Hackmon twins, I'd give all I have to protect them.... They are grounded right now though back at the house." She loved them but they seemed to have a habit of getting into trouble.
Ciel stopped for a moment looking at her wounds for a moment, they had healed quite a bit already and she didn't think she would really need any medical attention at the moment but she simply decided to shrug and relent. "If you insist." She said rather simply as she went back to work.
She finally got done with the headboard, taking a step back and making sure that it was all in its proper place with the rest of the bedframe looking more and more done, which seemed to start going a lot faster but Ciel paused for a moment before looking back at Zack. "If you want we can finish this together, it'd be a better learning experience taking the hands on approach. Just simply need to follow my lead." If he said no she wouldn't press the subject though and simply continue finishing the body of the bedframe.

he got to work immediatley, spreading some of the pain spray over her body with the trigger of the bottle. It would sting for only a second before it made the area that was still bothering her from the wound go a little bit numb. Not totally numb but enough that the pain receptors wouldn't be bothering her so much for the small wounds. he unwound the spools of threaded bandages applying them just like Marigold did until he could clip them tightly into place.
"hehe, hey, you're lucky. You can actually ground your kids. I'd never be able to get away with that. Not only is my daughter stronger than me, she's also usually smarter than me." He said, a look in his eyes flashing over his expression in a way that would let Ciel instantly recognize what he was feeling. Pride and love that held his heart in a firm grasp for his baby the same way Ciel's heart always called out for her own. he perked up, putting the last pressure bandage in place as he looked down at the board.
"Oh yea, absoulutley. I guess I've just been taking some mental notes this whole time but I'd love for you to show me if you could. Let me get my gloves back on, you may be a digimon uber-badass but I am just some normal dude who could very easily break my fingers with a hammer like that." He said, tucking his hands into thick work gloves and scooting up next to her with a bright eagerness in his eyes, ready to learn everything he could so that he wouldn't be caught again breaking down crying on his front lawn. The last thing he wanted was his own daughter to see him having a breakdown like that when he already worried about how his PTSD episodes and flashbacks were effecting her.

While Zack was applying the spray one thing he would notice was Ciel's reaction, or lack of reaction, towards it. Despite the small sting and numbness it didn't break her focus or cause her to even flinch a little bit, Almost like she was used to stuff like this. Still though she glanced at the bandage and gave a small nod. "Thank you." She added shortly after before getting back to what she was doing.
Though the part about her being able to actually ground them made her let out a small chuckle. "Well I say they are grounded but knowing those two I can only assume Beta was convinced by her brother to go out against my best wishes, though someone is watching them for now so I imagine it should be alright. They're more capable then they know." That look in Zack's eye was one she recognized, however not one that she felt was right for her to have...
However that last part also made Ciel chuckle. "Uber-Badass I see, my my in all my years I've never been called that." While he did that Ciel grabbed a wooden plank, the basic frame was done now they just needed to add some planks under it. "Just simply nail the other side of this plank to the wood, don't worry I'll make sure it's straightened beforehand." It was a simple task and kept her from having to go from one side of the frame to the other so it worked out well enough.

"Yea well you're probably catching on that my vernacular is a little more...pop culture." He said, owning his strange choice of description of her ability, though his own description of himself seemed to be dancing around the issue so he tried again. "In actually human words used by NON dweebs, I'm a ten ton geekazoid whose head is too full of references and quotes to be of much use to most folks." He said, giggling, always able to find his salvation in self deprecation. It made his insecurities seem much smaller if he could step out ahead of them and own them, make them a part of something that he could be proud of. He pounded the nail just like he had watched her do, much, MUCH smoother than the train wreck she had originally walked in on.
"And OH yea, I know how that feels. When you know for a fact that the second you so much as turn to use the bathroom that your kid is going to be doing something stupid. And then they'll look up at you with the biggest puppy dog eyes they can fake and give you the kind of logic only a kid could come up with for why they thought it was ok." He said, reaching up and wiping the back of his hand along his hairline, mopping up some of the sweat that was soaking in again already. "I'm ninety-nine percent sure they've full of it but part of me sometimes wonders if they buy their own BS."

Pop culture huh? It had been a while since Ciel had visited the human world at all so those words were quite lost on her. Thankfully Zack decided to explain a bit more what that meant and judging by the wording Ciel was able to figure it out, at least to the best of her abilities. "Ahh I see, you must forgive me It has been many years since I've visited the human world. At least you seem proud of it. If nothing else be proud in who you are not what others wish of you." Ciel paused for a moment before chuckling to herself. "Advice I wish my son would follow, he's getting there slowly though." Hopefully Alpha would learn, it just took time. 5 years of bad teaching was hard to undo after all.
"I quite know the feeling though, along with that I have twins means they're constantly covering for one another as well. Trying to take the fall for one another so the other is safe. So much so I believe they forget which one was guilty in the first place." Ciel smiled to herself thinking back to the little thunderstorm from before. "But I suppose that just means they care for one another, which is for the best." As she got lost in the conversation she started working a bit faster, not really thinking about it but it would seem it wouldn't be long before she was done with her own side.
"If I'm honest I never thought I'd end up with them, a wandering warrior, master of a variety of weapons. Funny how things turn out." She sure fit the bill she mentioned given the weapons she had on her at the time!

"I've learned that there's nothing to be gained in trying to pretend I'm not exactly who I am. I'm a nerd, I love superheroes, there's no a single inch of cynical edge anywhere on my body. That's not going to change whether I feel like hiding it or not. besides, with Marigold now I have to be much more careful about the messages I'm sending with every little thing I do, she idolizes and copies me to a frankly worrying degree, the last thing she or I need is her thinking that she should hide who or what she is to be more palatable to people who she shouldn't care about in the first place." He said, getting into "the zone" as he followed her instructions, making note of what to do and when to do it and mimicking her in perfect harmony moment by moment. He did worry about Marigold taking after him, he worried about it alot, though he supposed that was natural of any parent.
"HA! You're preaching directly to the choir there sister. I'm barely old enough to drink in my native land and yet I have this tiny little ball of love and issues dropped right into my lap." He says, leaning back long enough to give his arm a break and to wipe some of the sweat from his brow even as the project in front of them was really coming together. "So now I have to worry about her AND myself, everyone around me is acting like I'm an adult when all I can wonder is when people got the idea that I have any goddamn idea what I'm doing...God my mom always made it look so easy." Zack said, though mostly to himself.

Ciel listened to Zack talk about just being who he was and about not hiding who he was which just made her nod in agreement glancing over at her weapon. "Indeed, I have experience in that myself, back when I started my little journey most thought me mad, but I could never stop how I felt and so I pursued those feelings and here I stand, with these inventions of my own. There have been hard times but I hold no regrets." She stayed silent for a moment when he talked about being careful about the messages he's been sending his kids. "Just live your life and do what makes you happy, I think that's what all parents should want." That was her idea on it at least.
Ciel was a bit shocked he was so young, then again she had to admit she was really, really bad at telling the ages of humans. It was probably due to the fact on how young her form looked despite her age, from 18-30 was usually a blank to her given she doesn't interact with a lot of humans. "It always seems easier from the outside looking in, I've firsthand experience in that. But they say the harder the challenge the better the reward and judging by the way you talk about her I imagine you find it quite worth it." With that said though Ciel would find she had run out of nails, in fact if Zack had kept up with her it would seem the main frame of the bed was done. "Oh, suppose I lost track of time." She forgot how fast she works while talking, reminded her of a few better times.
