Exploring the Digital World to its fullest extent since her last life definitely had… sizable downsides, Manami realized as soon as she set foot in the outskirts of Tenebrous. Even her usually cheery expression was a little on the iffy side once she caught a glimpse of what was ahead.
“Maybe that wasn’t the greatest idea.” The holosuited digimon mentioned absentmindedly. It wasn’t a message directed to anyone in particular, but the fact that she wasn’t alone in this scenario prompted a swift response from her companion, a smaller, similarly disguised digimon.
“Do we really have to set foot on this stinky backwater? I didn’t know you liked sewers, Nee-san.” En-En’s tone didn’t have a fraction of mirth to it and the fact that she was practicing simple binds while walking besides her older sister accentuated this. If Manami hadn’t known better, she’d have taken those words as mockery or a taunt, but the fact was that those were as face value as they could be.
The taller woman shrugged. “Sometimes, you have to break some eggs to make an omelette. We won't know how bad this is until we set foot in this place for sure.”
Now, the younger digimon had moved to trapezes. “Do we get to have some fun if that place is as crappy as it looks?” There was a note of hopefulness in those words, that transitioned into a smirk as soon as the reply to it came.
“Sure thing. I'll even let you pick.”

Meanwhile at a shady business not far away from the holosuited sisters another set of siblings, this time brothers, were booted out the door of the establishment by a surly Gorrillamon. Not happy the furry Shoutmon known as Leroy was about to exchange words or possibly start a fight as he was rightly angry. His twin brother, a scaly Cutemon named Hiroshi, grabbed his brother's microphone from his back and brought it in front of Leroy using it to restrain the rampage that was bound to happen from the red half dragon. Then taking advantage of his larger than average size for his species, him being as tall as Leroy, he dragged his brother from the scene grateful for the fact his dragon data made him physically strong enough to easily match his brother if needed. Leroy was an embodiement of chaos after all and it made things far from boring for the two brothers.
"Hiroshi, fuck, let me go!" Leroy roared the fury in his tone audible to all for quite a ways as Leroy, unfortunately at times, good at making his voice carry for blocks.
Hiroshi took it all with a patient and straight face as he tugged firmly silencing his twin's roaring for the moment so he could speak. "Leroy, you have every right to be angry but a fight in this place is the last thing we need right now. I know that Dracmon tried to pickpocket you but you picking him up and flinging him like a frisbee across the shop was a bit much. You should of just quietly knocked his lights out." Hiroshi said his words seeming to calm his brother so he let Leroy go and handed him back his microphone. "Then again when did you ever do things the easy way?"
The last question made Leroy smirk before he said "Yeah but you know me better than anyone. I'm not exactly what one would call the subtle type. I'm an impulsive hothead with a lust for battle and little sense in that field and I'm big enough to admit my faults but shame you won't let me stomp that Gorrillamon a good one as he didn't kick out Dracmon too."
Hiroshi smiled as he fixed his two inch red mohawk, which was the only hair he had, as he thought how mature Leroy could be at times and it still surprised him but, knowing his brother, it was a matter of time before Leroy's chaotic nature led them to some form of trouble directly or indirectly. That was essentially what Hiroshi had learned to live with as his brother was a handful but far from an evil entity.

It seemed that, at the same time of the sisters’ interactions, a small ruckus seemed to have been caused by an attempt at a pair comprised by a funny-looking Shoutmon and Cutemon. An attempt at pickpocketing, it seemed? At the very least, something fairly more interesting than Tenebrous’ otherwise stinky outward appearance. Thus, En-En was the first to approach the duo that had just been booted from a nearby building, with Manami herself not that far behind.
The disguised Weathermon laughed softly at the scene, the mirth of her expression being more than evident. “Looks like somebody got his ass handed to him~.” Not helpful in the slightest, but nothing else should be expected from her. Was provoking somebody prone to violence a good decision? Probably not, but it was definitely the most amusing one. “You two don’t even look like you’re from this place, though! That’s great news!”
In the infant’s head, there was already an idea brewing. She gave the brother’s a complicit gaze before speaking again. “What were the two of you doing, anyway? Nee-san and myself came here cause we’re traveling around and stuff! But all this place does is looking like some kind of second-rate sewage disposal site. Maybe you two know if we’ve got any redeeming qualities here? Otherwise, we might just be wasting our time here.”
Being completely honest, it wasn’t hard to see some kind of duplicity in the child’s words, even though knowing where exactly that led was, at least for the time being, a mystery that could only be deciphered with time. By now, Manami had caught up with the group and proceeded to wave to the two digimons, even though she seemed notably less interested in them. She eyed En-En with a curious expression, something that initially had no response.
At least, it would be interesting to see where this would lead.

When the disguised Weathermon approached them mentioning someone getting his ass handed to him, Leroy began to softly growl in annoyance only stopping when Hiroshi set a paw on his shoulder. "I flung a pickpocketing Dracmon like a frisbee so I wasn't the one who got his ass kicked. My brother and I were only removed forcefully from a shop by a Gorrillamon."
"Don't mind my twin brother Leroy, he's understandably in a bad mood from the injustice from a mere few moments ago. Sadly life isn't always fair. Anyway I'm Hiroshi." Hiroshi said while his grumpy brother stared daggers while grumbling something about his microphone which Hiroshi was still holding. Turning to his sour puss of a twin, he asked "So do you promise, on your honor, to behave yourself?"
Leroy glared at his twin as he wielded his honor as a weapon but, though Leroy was a hothead, he was a digimon of his word. "Damn you, Hiroshi, you know how to manipulate me into behaving don't you? Fine, on my honor, I promise not to go on a destructive rampage and behave myself to the best of my ability." Leroy said giving his twin the stink eye but Hiroshi returned the furry Shoutmon's microphone now that he made his promise without so much as a syllable as he didn't want to further upset his twin.
"As for what we are doing, we were simply looking for a half decent place to eat but sadly most folks here aren't that helpful. Makes me wonder why we didn't just get off the Trailmon near the forest to forage for food sometimes." Hiroshi said with a sigh before he caught sight of Manami. "Oh, hi there. Is this guy your brother?" Hiroshi asked the approaching stranger while Leroy remained silent clutching his microphone expecting trouble to pop out around the corner.

En-En’s effervescent giggle at Leroy’s comment didn’t wait in the slightest. “Might’ve a different meaning from where you come, but after your words, I’d still say that you got your ass handed right back at you.” The grin plastered in her face made fairly obvious that her stance in the matter was more or less set. Nonetheless, her interest had been piqued by the pair of strange brothers; they really looked interesting! And dissonant, on their own way.
In the same vein, it was also fascinating how the Cutemon maintained his Shoutmon brother on a tight leash, at least regarding his violent outbursts. This one made the disguised digimon’s grin even wider. “I mean, I wouldn’t blame him. It definitely seems like, even if he got his ass handed to him, it was mostly not his fault. If anything, it’s solely the pickpocket’s fault, since nothing would’ve happened otherwise!” By now, Manami had effectively gotten to the scene, and even if she watched the group’s conversation with keen interest, she hadn’t decided to intervene just yet.
Honestly? En-En was doing an amazing job in the current situation. Of course, the interest of both digimons went straight towards Leroy, even if the Weathermon addressed Hiroshi first. “So, what you’re proposing is for him to just accept injustices happening to him and move as if nothing happened? Man, I don’t think anyone is allowed to be a pushover in this backwater. At least from the get go, everyone seems just thrilled to try and just get you. But that’s my own impression of this town.”
Tenebrous wasn’t… really likeable, was it? But that small conversation had already been had between the two girls. “I’m sure we’d be able to find plenty of trouble just by strolling around. Ain’t that an exciting prospect for a group of visitors?”
Manami blinked twice when called out, but finally responded. “Sister. Yes! I’m sorry if En-En’s troubling you, but she’s a really curious girl, even though she’s fairly unsure of why we’re in a place like this one. I’m beginning to wonder the same too, but… since you two probably have more time here than either of us, would you recommend any sights to see? Maybe that’ll change our minds regarding how we feel.”
Might as well, right? Maybe there were pleasant surprises waiting around the corner, as unlikely as that was.

After crossing his arms and muttering something very ungentlemanly while looking at the ground that most wouldn't hear other than his twin he looked up at En-En. "Yeah I guess you have a point but at least it wasn't Dracmon who was responsible so I can ignore my brother and I being forcefully removed from an establishment since that Gorillamon would be a waste of energy since Hiroshi and I haven't eaten recently." Leroy said much calmer though the choatic swarm in his brain he called thoughts had whirled to life again. As with a chaotic being it seemed the furry dragon couldn't help himself. What choas would be unleashed who knew?
Listening to the disguised Weathermon's words made Leroy grin mischievously before he looked at his twin and asked "Come on, Hiroshi, the stranger is right about what Gorrilamon did being an injustice. Since I promised not to rampage can we get back at the white ape in some other way after we eat then? I know you like mischief more than you let on around others."
Curse it all but Leroy did have a point. Maybe a small prank could be satisfying enough after eating and reflecting on what to do next but before Hiroshi could say anything another stranger looking similar but larger approached apologizing for her sister. "Don't worry about your sister. She wasn't causing to much trouble as we were just talking. As for being here longer than you two, uh, I'm not so sure as this is the first time my brother and I have been to Tenebrous and we were planning to look for a place to eat and, I guess, plan some prank for a Gorrillamon who kicked us out of a shop but didn't kick the pickpocket out who angered my brother as well." Hiroshi said his reptilian tail swishing but his reptilian features alone weren't the only odd feature this Cutemon had as he was easily bigger than the average Cutemon making him the average height of a Shoutmon. As for Leroy, other than his fur, he seemed an average Shoutmon in every way.

En-En shrugged rather pointedly at Leroy’s words. “Seems like you’ve made up your mind on the matter, and are quite stubborn while at it! I think that I like you, Leroy. Let’s be friends!” In a rather innocent gesture, the small girl finally stored the yo-yo she had absentmindedly used this whole time, and extended her hand towards the very being she had been arguing with moments before, confidence brimming in her expression. “As my older sister pointed out, my current name is En-En. Hope we can be good friends!”
And things kept on getting better and better! The small digimon was gladdened that she hadn’t mischosen her new accomplice. “I like the plan! And I’m hungry too, so I wouldn’t mind grabbing a bite either, even if it’s this dismal sewer. Shall we go?”
Manami’s eyes initially sat on her companion, even though they eventually shifted to Hiroshi. “She’s a clever girl, even though sometimes a little too clever for her own good; I’m glad she wasn’t causing any trouble over here, especially considering she wasn’t very keen on coming in the first place. But it seems like her opinion has changed, so that’s good!” She made a small pause to look around. “I could invite you some of the spare food we have, if need be. What do you have in mind regarding this… ‘prank’ you’re gonna play on Gorillamon? I’m curious.”
She hadn’t made an attempt at being silent with those words. “I’m curious too! I wanna know!” If anything, she had no problem making her opinion on the matter known.

Leroy grinned before he said "Hiroshi has often told me that, while at times useful, my stubbornness can be a double edged sword. As long as you don't mind that chaos and I tend to go hand in hand then I don't mind being friends."
Hiroshi had noticed En-En playing with a yo-yo but thought nothing of the absent-minded behavior as he said "Seeing as you are a physical embodiment of chaos, Leroy, I think that is a bit of an understatement. At least your brand of chaos is far from boring." Leroy looked around before facing the sisters and asked "Is there anything in particular you want to eat? Maybe we can find what you want by asking around."
Hiroshi glanced at Leroy and En-En before looking back at Manami and said "Oh believe me. I know all to well about having a sibling too smart for their own good. Leroy is far more cunning than many think which, as you can imagine, makes his chaotic nature at times harder to deal with."
When asked what prank they had in mind both brothers looked at each other for a moment before Leroy said "I'm afraid I don't have any ideas but maybe between the four of us we can come up with something fun while we eat."

Imagine minding a chaotic individual. That would definitely not be En-En. She grinned in response and nodded, looking exactly like an excited child. “I’m sure the two of you are the type that have a lot of fun, aren’t you? Otherwise, I doubt you’d be in a place like this one.” Quite the pointed statement, that also brought in the question that followed. “What are you two doing in this sorry excuse for a city, anyway? I doubt there are many places where I’d rather not be.”
When it came to the food, both sisters shrugged. Even with Manami’s own statement lingering in the air, she just decided to shrug. “We can adapt, don’t worry. What’s the worst food that this place can have, anyway? It can’t be that bad, right?” Maybe she was being a bit hopeful. Chances were that it was even worse.
A quick nod was given to Hiroshi; truth to be told, the dynamic between the two groups of siblings was quite… similar in a sense, wasn’t it? That left one thing lingering in the air, though. How would they acquire payback for the slight that had ended in this situation? That made the gears in the older girl to turn. “Tell me something about the place from where you two were kicked. Was it supposed to be a common eatery? Or did it have anything special or weird about it?”
Regardless of the answer, Manami had already an idea to execute.

Leroy grinned at En-En as if her excitement was contagious. Hiroshi looked at the two noticing the odd behavior of Leroy but chalked it up to Leroy's naturally chaotic behaviors. His twin was unpredictable at the best of times but Hiroshi was at least used to his brother's shenanigans. "Yeah normally we end up having a lot of fun as Hiroshi isn't the stiff bore he sometimes can come off as. As for why we are here, we were just passing through."
"Fair enough. Even the worst places tend to have at least one decent place to eat." Hiroshi said as he began leading the group in search of food. Then when Manami asked about what sort of establishment they were kicked out of Hiroshi said "It was nothing special. Just some small and shady store similar to a convenience store in the Human World but without a gas station. Why do you ask? Do you already have an idea planned?"
"Wait wasn't there a humble café across the street from the store?" Leroy asked as his stomach began to audibly growl at the thought of food.
"I believe there was. Why?"
Seeing a grin spread across Leroy's face Hiroshi said nothing as he had a feeling what his twin would say next and he was right as Leroy then said "I was just thinking that we could plan the prank while eating there."

That’s what she wanted to hear, more or less! En-En’s eyes glinted with mischief. “It’s good to know your brother isn’t a stick in the mud. Things would’ve gotten mighty boring otherwise.”
The place being as nondescript as it could be was a fairly boring proposition, but there wasn’t much else that could be done about it. “This city really has no redeeming features whatsoever, doesn’t it? I wonder why anyone bothers living in this place unless they literally can’t be anywhere else.”
Manami seemed a bit thoughtful at En-En’s statement. “They could always live on the move, right? Just like us. I don’t understand why they would rather remain… here.”
To that, the small Weathermon shrugged. “Some digimons can’t really handle that either. Even if it’s a backwater, this place still offers some infrastructure. I guess that’s what herded everyone here.”
“Fair enough.” En-En’s opinion on the matter was as obvious as the contempt she held for the city. Manami then turned towards the brothers. “That sounds like an idea. Let’s go.” The two females would then follow Hiroshi and Leroy until they reached their destination. The place was somewhat better than their previous location, even if just barely. Manami and En-En went through their orders smoothly, and soon enough the former was sipping some dubious tea while the latter stared at a mug that supposedly had hot chocolate inside.
“This sucks so bad.” The small digimon quipped, obviously displeased at the development. “Does this place not have a single decent location?” Being a child was clearly shown in her disposition, yet her display was surprisingly subdued, all things considered. “We should just bring down the place where Hiroshi and Leroy got kicked out from, and then get the hell away from this sewer. I really can’t remain here anymore.”
While Manami wasn’t issuing any response at the moment, she no doubt was pondering the suggestion at the moment.

Hiroshi merely shook his head in response to En-En's statement and didn't pay much mind to her mischievous glint as he seen that look from Leroy frequently in their lives. Facing Manami he said "Seems like both En-En and Leroy are incorrigible aren't they? I can only imagine how much of a handful she can be for you, Manami."
"Well Tenebrous is known for its shady reputation but I guess the architectural design was made to reflect that. Seems a shame since this would not lure many tourists to take advantage of." Leroy said glaring in disgust at the various buildings before they found a café that actually looked somewhat nicer.
Sitting down ordering some kind of meat dish with a side of potatoes both Hiroshi and Leroy began digging in. Sure it wasn't the best but beggers could hardly be choosers. Hiroshi listened as Manami and En-En talked to each other before he said "Seeing as this place is known to have many criminals I understand why you are asking if the more decent folks here could move. Maybe they also don't have the money to leave this town so they have no choice but to live here. Seems kinda sad to think about and makes me glad that Leroy and I never stay in one place for very long."
"I agree with En-En. This whole town sucks so why don't we get back at Gorillamon and then get the hell out of this stink hole of a town. Maybe next time we can go somewhere more appealing like Whitewater." Leroy said finishing the food on his plate his patience now on a short tether. Hiroshi wasn't envying Gorrilamon who would have to deal with the red half dragon soon to come his way.

Manami looked at Hiroshi, a semblance of empathy in her expression. “They really are a handful.” She said with a smile. “But I also wouldn’t have En-En be any other way, you know? Sometimes a little spice keeps life interesting.” Of course, this was in a way, how the disguised Weathermon was meant to be, but that was neither here nor there.
That aside, there wasn’t really much to do in a place like this one. Filthy was the first word that came to Manami’s mind to describe it, and inelegant the second. That didn’t deter them for now, though. For now being the keyword.
The food being subpar was changing that opinion quite fast. “I wonder if things would be just better if this place didn’t exist.” Manami mused, not bothering to hide her voice even when uttering such a scathing remark. “Somebody told me it was created fairly recently, and I don’t know why would anyone in their right mind let criminal underbelly just… bloom out of the blue.” A valid concern, wasn’t it? “I guess the cities’ hold on things ain’t as ironclad as they make it to be.”
Of course, En-En wasn’t gonna lose time just pondering the happenstance of some random sewer. Just like Leroy, she abruptly stood up, not even bothering to finish her drink before nodding at the digimon. “We should do that right now, actually! The faster we’re done with this place, the faster we can go somewhere actually nice for a change.”
Deciding to leave thinking for later, Manami just followed En-En as she exited the building and headed towards their previous location.

Hiroshi nodded at Manami's words then the scaly Cutemon chuckled before he said "That's one way to look at things. As much of a pain as Leroy can be not only would life be boring without him, I would be incomplete since he is the other half of my digicore and all." Ah yes the very nature of twins were known all to well to the half dragon siblings called Hiroshi and Leroy.
Both Hiroshi and Leroy definitely were in agreement with Manami and En-En regarding Tenebrous being a dump but who could expect everywhere to be perfect. Manami's next words caused Hiroshi's head to jerk up and stare at her before he said "While this place is filled with criminals not everyone in Tenebrous are criminals. Some digimon here don't have the money to live anywhere else and that is not their fault. Unfortunately the criminal element seems to outnumber the decent citizens here as the structures seem to sadly reflect."
"Man this food sucks but it's better than nothing, I guess." Leroy said pushing aside the empty plate as Hiroshi got up to pay for the food and when he came back Manami and En-En were walking out so Hiroshi and Leroy ran out after them. "So what's the plan for this prank?" Leroy asked as he and Hiroshi caught up. A mischievous twinkle had reappeared in the chaotic furry Shoutmon's eyes.

At least, the two digimons seemed to be on the same page regarding their siblings. Even if decidedly a handful, they certainly maintained things fresh. That had to account for something, right? And even if it didn’t, it was just how things were. Complaining about them was as pointless as it could be. She couldn’t add a lot to Hiroshi’s arguments, but that was fine still. Not having a choice felt like not the greatest situation; with some luck, that would change over time; as things stood, Tenebrous might as well be simultaneously the most
Already out of the eatery they were moments before, En-En reached into one of her pockets and brought a disproportionately large-sized box; from it, two green, rectangular cuboids emerged. They were attached to each other by two bands of white tape, with wires connecting the blocks by both ends. By their midsection, a metal latch on each face of the device fastened them together. Four buttons—one at each side of the latches, finished the device’s outlook; all in all, it looked pretty dangerous.
“It’s a stink bomb.” The girl said proudly. “Unarmed, of course! Wouldn't want to be anywhere near this one once it detonates.” Satisfaction was evident in her expression as she held up the device. “Nee-san and I can distract whoever’s nearby Gorillamon’s place while you set it up, and we can remotely detonate it while we’re well on our to somewhere else! How does that sound?”
She held out the dirty bomb so Leroy could take it. This would be so fun!
