"Alright, that should be about it," a relatively posh voice said as an Infini-Store was finished being packed at the Shibuya Academy dorms.
Luneth the Hackmon did not have a lot to pack up, so it took him about half an hour to get everything ready for his big move. The story going around was that Luneth had actually been offered a scholarship to a prestige college in America, as his grades were high enough to support such a theory. But the actual reality of this sudden change was much grander.
A couple weeks ago Luneth had met the Angoramon Arlo, who had come to the human world on a trip to learn some potential human recipes he hadn't thought of for his traveling bakery. An opportunity arose where Arlo mentioned he was looking for an assistant slash bodyguard to journey with him, as the Digital World was dangerous and Arlo was not the fighting type if he didn't have to. Arlo asked Luneth if he was interested, and although that combined two things Luneth enjoyed - adventures and baked goods - he initially declined, stating his comfortability in his current life.
But then Luneth digivolved to SaviorHackmon, and this caused a revelation in Luneth. He wanted to make his mark like his father, his mother and his brother's mentor Owen had made on the world. And his family was starting to ask him to move back to the Digital World anyways. This was when Luneth started considering Arlo's offer until eventually he bit the bullet and contacted Arlo, saying he would accept his offer.
Of course the lie about being accepted into a college had to be spread just so the secret of Digimon could be kept. His dormmates were surprisingly sympathetic and sad to see Luneth go, and they even had a small going-away party the night before. Luneth may have had problems with his roommates in the past but he could tell that they were at least good people, at least most of the time.
After saying goodbye one last time to his roommates, Luneth made his way off the school campus. Before he left for good, he turned around and took one last glance at the school. He had made plenty of memories here, and he made a few friends as well. He was going to miss it, but he felt it was time to move on. A small smile formed on his face before he continued making his way to the train terminal.
Upon reaching the terminal, Luneth wouldn't take more than two steps onto it before he heard a familiar voice come from behind him. "So you're really going? I thought you would've changed your mind by now."
Luneth turned around and saw his best human world friend Kaya staring at him with a saddened expression. Being the dork that he was, Luneth did not understand why Kaya was so upset. "What's the matter, Kaya? I'm just going to the Digital World. You and Hawkeye can come see me any time, and there's Tamernet and-"
"That's not what I mean!" Kaya blurted out, interrupting Luneth. "...Luneth, why can't you stay here? You're one of my best friends, the best one that went to school with me. When you're gone, it's just going to be me and Hawkeye again, and when Hawkeye's in the V-Pet at school it's just going to be me, you made school interesting because you got me as a person the best and we could talk about anything together..."
Luneth thought back to the time when his brother asked him a similar question, about why he couldn't live in the Digital World. Luneth had a melancholy expression as he looked down at the ground, feeling more lost about anything than ever before. "No matter what I do or where I choose to go, I always upset someone with my decisions... what ever happened to supporting me on what I decide to do?"
"That was before Grandmaster attacked you and I found out you were a Digimon. I'm gonna be worried sick about you if you go. I don't want to wake up one day and have Adrian telling me that you died."
"Kaya, I am a Digimon. A Digimon descended from two very powerful Digimon. You do not have to worry about me... okay? It is indeed going to hurt, but this isn't truly goodbye. You can always visit, you have the means to do so. And Tamernet is also a good method of communication. Just... trust that I am going to be okay."
Kaya began to tear up. "I want to... but it's hard... after everything that's happened..."
Luneth then had an idea. "Would you like to travel on the Trailmon with me? You could meet Arlo if you want."
"...yeah, yeah I would like that. I'm sure Hawkeye would, too."
"Then I believe that settles that. You're... probably going to be a bit surprised when you see my new form, however."
