So there were some similarities between Christmas and Valentine's day, at least in Japan, only that the next month boys gave return gifts to the girls that gave them chocolate the previous month. "Those two holidays a month apart sound romantic. I don't think a lot of cultures also celebrate White Day as well." Lothar said after quietly taking in the information from Clive.
"Nice to meet you, Clive, and yes I can see how your name could be difficult in Japanese to those not used to saying it." Mandrake said before Desdemona caught his attention by her inflating and deflating and crashing into the house. Lilly sat on the ground looking dumbfounded at the sound of the crash as Clive went into the house to check on his partner. Then Mandrake felt two presences approaching them. Turning to Lothar, as he recognized the two minds, he said "Lothar, it seems your parents are coming in fast. They might of caught our scent by now."
Before Lothar could so much as utter a peep a swift moving IceLeomon pulled her son into a sudden hug catching Lothar by surprise. "Lothar, how's my boy doing?" Lothar's mother otherwise known as Crystal said.
The GrapLeomon with her then trotted up and said "Crystal, your excitement is crushing our son."
Releasing her son she looked at her husband before looking back at Lothar and said "Sorry, Lothar. I got excited."
"Don't worry about it, Mom. I'm fine. I inherited your super strength after all." Lothar said which calmed his mother.
"Crystal. Fang. It's nice to see both of you again." Mandrake said and when he noticed both of Lothar's parents sniffing around the area around their house catching three unfamiliar scents, Mandrake then said "I see you have picked up the extra scents." When the two of them looked at Mandrake the Wizardmon turned to Lilly telekinetically lifting the Jyarimon off the ground setting her into the crook of one of his arms before he then said "This is your new granddaughter, Lilly. As for the other scents, a human tamer and his partner are in your home. His partner accidentally ended up in your house and the boy, whose name is Clive, went in to get his partner."
Lothar's parents didn't seem mad. In fact Crystal seemed excited again as she gently took Lilly out of Mandrake's arm holding her in the palm of her hand. "She's adorable, Mandrake. She even has your eyes." Crystal said with a smile before Fang quietly led the group into the house looking for Clive.

When the digimon mentioned other nations also celebrating White Day, Clive slowly nodded. Was it South Korea or North Korea who did that? He couldn't remember.
"Des?" asked Clive as he slowly entered the cold, dark home. "Desdemona?"
He squinted his eyes and held his glasses on his face as he looked down to stare at the mess before him. A few stools that appeared larger than usual were all tangled up on the ground with a smoke hiding some of their legs from his sight.
He ended up stumbling over quite a few of them. He continued searching deeper. Eventually, he felt his way into another room.
"Desdemona, where are you?" he asked, struggling to see in the dark and smoke.
He swatted the air in front of him, struggling to remove the smoke from his face.
A moment later, a flicker of flame appeared on the other side of the room.
"There you are. Come here," he instructed, holding out his palm.
The weak candlelight sheepishly floated over to his hand.
As she moved, Clive got to see more of the room. The smoke hadn't dissipated much, but one of the shelves on a bookcase looked crooked.
"Desdemona, you need to be polite in other people's homes. You can't go around making a mess," he scolded her. "Did you break anything?"
Feeling guilty, the mokumon gazed down at the ground.

As Fang and Crystal lead the group into the humble cabin Lilly sneezed a tiny fireball as she took in the smell of smoke. Lothar and his parents' nose crinkled as they coughed from the smoke while Mandrake spotted a window and used his telekinesis to crack open the window so the smoke could escape before he called out "Clive! Desdemona! Is everything okay?"
The family maneuvered through some tipped over stool that were tangled up on the floor while Mandrake used his telekinesis to lift and set them back upright and out of the way. Gradually the group was able to make out the human and his partner who looked embarrassed about the mess she made. Making his way around Lothar and his parents he approached them and asked "Clive, is Desdemona alright? When she accidentally sent herself into the cabin I thought she might of hurt herself judging by all the noise."
Meanwhile Lothar stood not far away near his IceLeomon mother. Crystal still had Lilly in one of her hands and the baby was softly squeaking like a baby crocodile despite bearing practically no resemblance to one. As for Lothar's father Fang, he was standing just next to his wife silent as if trying to figure the tamer and partner out. His silence was very similar to Lothar in that regard. "If the little one is hurt we have some medical supplies so don't worry to much, Mandrake." Crystal said in a concerned motherly tone but didn't want to alarm either Clive or Desdemona.

Hearing the sounds of other digimon coming closer, Desdemona clinged her smoky figure onto Clive's arms like shackles.
He sighed and tried to pat her unusual body. It didn't appear like any areas were... leaking abnormally. If anything, it looked like her finger might have shrunk a little after expending so much smoke.
"I think she's okay," he answered for his digimon. "Probably some... bruises? I don't think she got any cuts or anything. I'm not so sure about your furniture."
Fortunately, the home didn't hold too many breakable items like vases or decorations. If Desdemona fired off like a loosed air balloon at his house, they would've been in a world of trouble with broken glass pieces all over the places.
When an unfamiliar voice spoke out and Desdemona saw a pair of unfamiliar figures (she could tell they weren't the first leomon she spoke with), she trembled and stuffed herself inside Clive's hood.
"Hot! Hot!" he yelped, quickly flinging his hood back.
Desdemona settled inside with a flicker of flame sticking out. The fire was too close to Clive's blond curls for comfort.
"Don't burn my hair!" he pleaded, holding his hands at the back of his head like a helmet.
After some awkward shuffling, Clive awkwardly tried to bow toward the home owners. Unfortunately, the action made Desdemona slide closer to his head, so he abruptly stood back up.
"I'm so sorry for all the mess," he apologized. "Can I take Desdemona outside, so she doesn't cause anymore trouble? I'll come back and clean up afterward."

Mandrake noticed Desdemona's reaction to Lothar's parents. She looked understandably afraid of Crystal and Fang which was understandable seeing as the both of them were ultimate level digimon. Looking at the Mokumon trying to hide in Clives' hood, Mandrake said "It's okay, Desdemona. Those are Lothar's parents and they won't hurt you or Clive." Taking a look at the Mokumon's injuries they definitely looked minor so Mandrake could help without digivolving. One of his hands began glowing before he said "Since she only has minor injuries, I can heal them. Cleansing Soul!" His hand reached out lightly touching the Mokumon causing her to glow briefly along with Mandrake's hand and then when he was done the glowing stopped. Lifting his hand he said "There. Good as new."
Crystal set Lilly in Lothar's hand before she slowly approached Clive, Desdemona, and Mandrake and said "Let's go to the living room. I can get a fire started in the fireplace and you can help if you want to little one." Her words were more directed in an effort to calm Desdemona.
Crystal then led the group into the living room as the smoke was now clear so Fang went back to close the window before catching up to the others seconds later. The living room was humble and littered with various cushions for a not only Crystal and Fang but cushions of other sizes as if arranged to tend to guests of many sizes. There were some bookshelves with some books in the corners of the room and in the back was a fireplace with wood piled up ready to be lit. "Why don't you all take off the winter gear and hang it up to dry before sitting down. The fireplace should be lit shortly."
Lothar set Lilly on a cushion before he, like Mandrake, began removing the winter clothing they wore over their usual clothing before they hung them up. Lothar had set his bag near one of the bookshelves so it wouldn't be in the way. Now that the winter gear was hung up two matching gold chains were visible with sapphires in the shape of half a heart that would be a whole one if the two were joined together. They seemed to glow peacefully due to the necklaces nature as magical items.

When Mandrake reached out his hand, Desdemona trembled and hid more deeply in Clive's hood, burning it with her small flame.
Then, Mandrake managed to reach her. She felt a pure, calming energy enter her body like a fresh beam of sunlight, warming her up and alleviating her soreness. The flame on top of her head brightened, making Clive more uncomfortable as his hood singed more.
"Hey, hey, hey!" he said in sudden alarm. "Why do I smell something burning?!"
Although the mokumon produced smoke from her body, it was odorless and couldn't irritate the lungs. He used to cough from the psychological effects at first, but that ended long ago.
If there was a smell, on the other hand, something was on fire!
He urgently began to strip, and the baby digimon hopped out of his clothes as he stomped on the embers of his blue coat.
Although the home owners invited her to follow them, Desdemona stayed back with Clive until he put out the fire on his coat and the others settled down first.
When Clive gave her a look and she sensed a lecture coming on, Desdemona raced over to the fireplace.
She was invited this time, right? So it was okay!
She raced inside and immediately evolved back into her demimeramon form. After a couple of puffs of fire on the dry wood, she curled up inside like Calcifer in Howl's Moving Castle. The flames licked her body and made her relax. Clive's apartment only had an electric fire place, so she didn't get to enjoy such luxuries in the human world. Whenever she started a fire of her own, Clive would immediately put it out and tell her she couldn't do that! The human world was so unfair and restrictive!
Seeing her relax and calm down, Clive sighed and swallowed his lecture to save for later. With a forlorn look at his damaged hood, he wondered how to explain this to his mom and headed out to join the group.
He was the last one to hang up his coat and stood by the others awkwardly rather than sitting down.
His digimon made a mess when they went out to play. The family was incredibly welcoming--far more so than a human family would be--and he wasn't sure what punishment he would receive. He had to make up the disaster to them somehow, but there wasn't much he could do.
"I--I'm sorry about the mess," he began again after an awkward pause. "Is there anything we can do to make up for it?"
By "we," he referred to himself moreso than he and Desdemona. After all, she was still too young to understand right and wrong that well.

Mandrake's healing ability produced a side effect he was not expecting as Clive's coat had caught fire causing the young man to strip the coat off of him in a hurry with Desdemona hopped out of it. Fortunately the fire was quickly stomped out so no harm seemed to be done.
As Mandrake and Lothar sat down on a cushion Lilly hopped off the cushion Lothar had set her on and made her way in front of her parents making crocodile squeaks clearly wanting to sit in one of her fathers' laps. Mandrake and Lothar chuckled before Lothar scooped up the Jyarimon with one hand and set Lilly in his lap. Lilly snuggled into Lothar's legs with a big smile on her face.
Desdemona headed to the fireplace digivolving back into DemiMeramon lighting the fire before settling in it. "Aww, she's adorable." Crystal said watching Desdemona resting comfortably in the burning fire. Then seeing the forlorn look on Clive's face before he hung up his coat, she then asked "Sweetheart, what's wrong?" Even moreso instead of sitting down he stood there awkwardly.
Then he began apologizing for the mess made and Crystal said "Don't worry about that, dear. Believe me I know how much trouble an excitable youngster can accidentally cause. Lothar was a bit of a handful as a baby. Why long before he got the hang of controlling his strength...."
Lothar started blushing as he turned to his mom in shock before he managed to sputter out. "Mom, don't go embarrassing me. I'm not exactly a little baby anymore." Meanwhile Mandrake was shaking as he tried and failed to contain his laughter.

"Oh, um, thank you," replied Clive shyly. With them forgiving him so easily, he felt spoiled. How could they let him and Desdemona get away so easily after causing trouble and intruding into their home? He felt like he owed them, and getting off like this made him uneasy.
He bowed deeply to the couple.
"Thank you for your forgiveness," he said, resigning himself to owe them a favor.
When Crystal mentioned her son as a baby, Clive listened to the cat family plus wizard and baby with interest.
"Desdemona likes being in fire and starting fires, so she's difficult to manage in the real world... I have to take her here to the digital world every day, so she can play. She's set my homework, a pillow, and a couple of books on fire in my room before. I threw away all the burnt things, but there are still some scorch marks on my desk and the floor. The rug melted in some places," he said with an embarrassed smile. "I think our house cleaner suspects I'm a pyromaniac at this point.
"I saw Desdemona hatch from her egg, but how are digimon normally raised? Are they normally raised by parents like you guys?"

Mandrake had stopped laughing and composed himself while Lothar had begun to blush from both his mom's earlier statement and Mandrake's silent laughter. "Don't worry about owing Fang and Crystal anything, Clive. They are known for their kindness and generosity towards others. As well as their forgiving natures despite their somewhat imposing appearance."
When Clive mentioned his issues with Desdemona, Crystal looked as if she had seen this before and the IceLeomon said "Sounds like she is having issues controlling her fire powers. My cousin I grew up with was also a DemiMeramon with a similar issue. I was told she just needed patience and practice learning to control her powers.
Mandrake looked over at Lothar who had stopped blushing and then looked back at Crystal before he said "I assume she eventually mastered her powers, Crystal."
Crystal nodded and said "She did. She is BlueMeramon now and has five kids. Five adorable firey babies that are grown now."
"As for how digimon are raised, I can answer that, Clive. Digimon that are created by two parents normally raise their offspring but their are cases where they sadly abandon their children or the children are sometimes orphaned." Mandrake explained as he had witnessed the effects of both in two separate digimon in his short life and it was heartbreaking. "Digimon not born this way are reborn at the Village of Beginnings if their data isn't consumed so one digimon could theoretically experience many lives."

When one of the lion people told Clive he didn't owe them anything, a shocked expression appeared on his face.
They can read my mind?! he thought with alarm. Digimon were strange and powerful creatures. He supposed e shouldn't be surprised they were psychic, too. That said, how was he supposed to control his thoughts? He wasn't Batman.
He regarded the digimon with renewed respect and awe.
When one said Desdemona would be able to control her fire with patience and practice, Clive felt relieved. As for the pyromaniac herself, she lied contently in the fireplace, apparently not listening to a word they said.
When they explained how baby digimon were born, Clive slowly nodded. Digimon were either natural orphans or else created intentionally by their parents. Desdemona found him in some ruins, but her egg was all alone.
She didn't come from the Village of Beginnings, thought Clive. Therefore, Desdemona must've been created by her parents. I wonder what happened to them.
According to this family, she was likely abandoned or orphaned.
"Thank you for telling me so much," said Clive with a polite smile. "I really don't know much about digimon after all."

Clive seemed shocked regarding Mandrake's words which made the Wizardmon wonder if he had issues with folks with terrible reputations in his life. Sure Mandrake could read Clive's mind but he wasn't about to intrude on the young man's mind without his permission. Lilly picked up on Clive's alarm and looked at him with a puzzled look on her face before beginning to direct her crocodile like squeaks at Clive. "Is there something wrong, Clive? Lilly seems to be sensing something up regarding your emotions." Mandrake asked puzzled by Lilly's behavior.
"You mean?" Crystal asked with a look of amazement of her own while glancing at her granddaughter.
"Yes, Mom. It would appear she has taken after Mandrake's father in the regards that she's an empath." Lothar answered which made Crystal wonder if Lilly shared any of her traits like her super strength that Lothar inherited from her.
As for Desdemona she seemed content sitting in the flames and it was plain as day that she was most comfortable in flames. With work the tiny pyromaniac would learn enough control to even live in human dwellings safely. "Don't worry, Clive. I'm sure you could use this information somehow. You aren't the first tamer I've provided guidance for."
