"I never seen her outside of a Babamon form, just warning." Kai warned Blackjack after he started asking as Tera figured that would be a bit of a dissuasion, or indicative of any other character traits to become aware of.
Kai listened to the two and as Bojack commented on how Kai was not the one serving as the border between Tera and sudden doom, she rubbed her neck awkwardly. "It isn't easy, she nearly killed me five times in the first day we met. One of which was nearly by hypothermia by constantly drowning me in swamp water with the force of her speed." Kai said as Tera sighed. "Will you let that go? Just cause I nearly destroyed your clothes after when trying to help you get out-" she said as Kai clasped her mouth.
"Case, in, point." Kai said slowly as her face was flushed with shame. "Besides, Blackjack, there's only on member of the army I have that I don't have to wrangle and he doesn't seem to trust the rest of us. I'm just glad the kids are well behaved but nearly everyone else acts like kids." Kai explained.

After hearing that Tera's teacher was a Babamon Blackjack blinked in surprise before opening his mouth his look taking on a befuddled appearance before the crafty gambler somehow recovered as he then said "A Babamon? I gotta say I didn't see that form coming. No offense I'm sure she's charming but let's just say that when it comes to older ladies I prefer the age gap to be small. Don't worry I am not one to date ancient digimon."
Then Harmony sharply elbowed her brother again making him yelp out what sounded like an ouch before she said "Blackjack, seriously? Forgive my younger twin brother he can be a bit of a handful at times. He is a decent guy once you get used to his shenanigans. Let's just say life with him is far from boring."
"Now, now, Harmony. You yourself aren't exactly a perfect angel as you have a mischievous side too." Blackjack said with one of his rougish grins directed at his sister.
"Okay fair enough." Harmony said with a light chuckle.
"Speaking of handfulls, Kai, it sounds like you and Tera have their hands full with each other. At least those kids you mentioned seem well behaved but knowing others that act like kids also sounds like it has its own fair share of potential troubles. To think I thought I could be a handful for Harmony." Blackjack said ending his words with a soft chuckle while Harmony softly shook her head as if in agreement with her brother.

"Well I manage but sometimes I feel like a kindergarten teacher trying to maintain things. Between Tera getting jealous of everyone else Digivolving, Solarmon complaining about something noise related, Mach wanting to race anything that moves more then a mile per hour, Diggy wanting to make tunnels everywhere, and Snowball just being a victim of anything possible is just a nightmare." Kai said as she definitely didn't try upsell the qualities she had to deal with.
"I mean you still have that Pocket dimension to stuff us in. Wouldn't kill you to hop inside and help clean up once in a while." Tera said a bit annoyed as Kai looked at her deadpan. It's been made clear many times over that such things are not plausible as it's a space where only Digimon can enter as humans are incompatible for the digitizing process." She explained again before sighing.
"Harmony could we trade burdens? I'd rather take one gambling addict instead of trying to mother this lot at times." Kai said half joking.

"Sounds like the most potentially problematic ones are Solarmon but maybe that one has sensitive hearing. Mach's competitiveness can lead to possible fights. Diggy, despite the cutesy sounding name, could be possibly handled be redirecting the potentially distructive tunneling to maybe convincing that one to take up gardening. As for Snowball I wouldn't know how to help so I can see how that can be a nightmare. Though I'm sure despite these faults your partners are probably nice enough digimon." Harmony said. Then when Kai mentioned trading burdens in a half joking tone the disguised aquatic Cardmon giggled before she said "Now, now. I wouldn't call Blackjack or I gambling addicts. It is more of a profession for the two of us."
"Yeah Harmony and I are professionals when it comes to playing cards specifically card games like poker or the very game that I share a name with called Blackjack. I am just slightly better at those games than Harmony but, then again, she is hardly one to brag about her talents." Blackjack said.

"Is there really such a thing as a professional card player?" Tera said confused after listening to blackjack but Kai would shrug. Kai did have her own thoughts on the matter but she did try to avoid outright offending people. "My father always called self proclaimed professional gamblers 'easy marks' for favors when they fall to debts. He even went on to say that any profession that relies strictly on luck more then skill is no profession at all." She said out loud making Tera look at her confused. "Sage advice coming from a man who got kids dying sick and took their money." Tera commented making Kai really regret mentioning her father. She looked embarrassed and a bit shellshocked, slightly sick, as some of her shame was made public.
"I told you that in confidence! And that's not how it happened, he merely underfunded an area's street sweepers for nearly two months and then later embezzled money originally earmarked for the pediatrics wing of the hospital after gaining control over the foundation, and withdrew the donation before the public announcement with only a few small private announcements made, then embezzled that money out. A lot shadier then just taking it but not the same." Kai said as Tera blinked twice confused. "So he stole money from kids, you sure I'm the moron here?" She said as Kai took a deep breath. "Again, he did far worse but still, it's in the past." She said trying to avoid talking about her past.
"So where do you land on the whole professional card gambler thing?" She said as Kai would be deep in thought for a moment as she wanted to aptly and objectively find her own stance on the subject. She also didn't want to risk offending the twins with her own answer aloud.
"Well I cannot make a decision either way as there are arguments to be made for either side. I do agree with my imprisoned father on this subject that anything that relies on luck more then skill isn't exactly worthy of being called a profession, but at the same time there can be a great deal of skill if you can do incredible math in your head and count the cards, which makes it more skill then luck. However while never actually illegal, it is taboo among the gamblers of the western continent, not illegal, but will definitely merit any form of punishment gambling establishments want to get away with." Kai said as once more she wasn't leaning either way but did have some objective comments on both sides of the argument. She was definitely trying to keep an open mind but her own beliefs did hold some precedence.

"I guess it depends on what you would call professional." Blackjack said offhandedly. He and Harmony weren't surprised that some folks would be confused by one of the ways the twins made money. Then Blackjack smirked before he said "Only professional gamblers who are 'easy marks' are the ones who don't seem to know when to stop gambling. Harmony and I have established budgets when we join games and when and if we run out of that money we stop playing. Simple as that. Gambling addicts don't tend to have our level of restraint."
Blackjack and Harmony listened to the back and forth between Kai and Tera shocked that Tera would reveal a secret that Kai had apparently shared with her. "Does Tera always have issues keeping secrets? If so I can see how awkward such a thing can be." Harmony said after recovering from the bafflement her brother recovered from seconds later. Having a feeling Kai wasn't comfortable talking about her father neither Blackjack nor Harmony pushed the issue.
"We discovered our knack while in the Digital World. Let's just say we tend to have good luck. However we don't only use gambling as making money as we also do jobs around various towns as well." Harmony explained calmly.
After listening to Kai's next words Blackjack shook his head before he said "We do not use math to calculate nor do we cheat. We just tend to be lucky not to mention knowing when to quit."

"Wait, wait... I can understand elemental powers, extreme forces, I'll even handle a healing power as well as other seemingly magical applications; but are you trying to tell me you two have some innate probability manipulation power?"
Kai said as she was honestly shocked by the idea but that wore off quickly as in all likelihood that was probably the most likely of any power given her understanding of the Digital World. "Innate probability manipulation? What does that mean?" Tera said confused once again by Kai's attempt to rationalize the Digital World.
"Being constantly lucky." She explained as Tera nodded as she was starting to understand. The former courier was not used to Kai and her more, elaborate explanations even after the time spent together. "Wouldn't surprise me if Cardmon have some luck power, never heard of one losing. That reminds me I still owe a gambler seven eyes and a human kidney." She said as Kai's eyes opened wide. "I'm sorry but did you honestly just confess you owe a Digimon a human organ? When were you going to mention this?" Kai said folding her arms clearly not enjoying her Digimon's memory.
"Guy's a genius, he always knows how to recruit me after I hit my head from a crash landing for a fun game- oh... Also might explain why he knew when I crashed during my courier days." She said as Kai grabbed a water bottle from her purse and started drinking, trying to stop herself from reacting to the sheer lack of functioning brains her partner had at times. "I swear what will I do with you..." Kai said as she would not look at her hopes.
"Hey! You'd be dead without me!" Tera said in annoyance as she put her hands on her hips. "Maybe but that'd be one death versus seven near deaths you caused."

Upon hearing both Kai and Tera's confusion Harmony shook her head before she said "No we don't have some crazy luck power as a digimon ability. More like fate is regularly kind for reasons not even we ourselves understand."
"Besides if we had an ability like that we would never lose or have bad days at gambling. Maybe I should of explained that when on a roll we tend to stay on it but if on a loosing streak we stop before we run completely out of money." Blackjack explained before he continued "Besides if we had such a power it would technically be cheating now wouldn't it?"
Upon hearing about Tera owing a digimon a human organ both Blackjack and Harmony stared in shock as if unable to speak for a moment before they, at the same time, both said "WHAT?"
Kai looked as if she didn't know what to do with her partner and the Cardmon siblings didn't blame her. Then Harmony asked "Is Tera always this much of a handful for you, Kai? She seems worse than Blackjack."
"Aww come on big sis, I'm not that bad. Just a bit incorrigible at my worst. At least I don't go out of my way to cause trouble for others. At least not on purpose anyway." Blackjack said scratching the back of his head nervously knowing full well his twin could see through him when he was up to no good most of the time.

"Hey! I don't intentionally cause trouble either, just she's so frail." Tera commented trying to shift the blame to human biology rather then her own negligence.
"According to sources, she's the Digital World record holder for concussions. Also she died and returned to the Village of Beginnings seventeen times which may have cumulative damage considering her average lifespan was 2 years for more then half of those." Kai explained as when other Digimon learned of this, they told Kai that Tera's lack of a long life was by no means normal. She was not sure if Tera was sane even by the standards of the digital world let alone human psychology.
"Say what you will, I lived a life of no regrets except for deaths and debts incurred by wise men finding me after I hit my head and helping me out at an unfair price." She said somehow trying to avoid saying she was the gullible fool who got taken advantage of at numerous points in her life.
"No wonder you're not a Tamer's partner, you need a full village just to keep living." She said sneaking in a joke comparing Tera to a child in there but Tera didn't seem to get it as she was confused.

"Come on, Tera. Humans may not be as durable as digimon but they aren't exactly made of glass or something like that." Harmony said in a stern voice to Tera as Kai explained that not only was her partner the Digital World record holder for concussions but apparently she had been reborn like seventeen times with an average lifespan of two years for almost half of those.
"That many lives?" Blackjack asked sounded and looking shocked before he continued "Harmony and I are on our first lives and while we are not all that old. Heck I don't think we are past two but due to Harmony we probably will have a fair shot at making it to old age. Who knows with us digimon though am I right, Tera?" Blackjack glanced at Tera with his trademark rougish grin that Harmony was all too familiar with. At least Harmony knew that grin didn't always mean trouble.
Blackjack then said "Tera if there is one thing we share in common is living a life without regrets. Though you should try to avoid getting caught up in debts." Both Blackjack and Harmony caught on that Tera was trying to avoid saying she was gullible but the twins didn't say anything.
"Tera is definitely a living example of that human saying that it takes a village to raise a child. Though I don't think I would call Tera a child. In this case it would be it takes a village to keep an adult alive." Harmony replied in response to Kai's joke with a bit of a faint grin of her own on her face.

"I'm about 190 years old thank you very much, it's also very impolite to refer to a ladies age." Tera said despite the fact that she just admitted her own age in the prior half.
"I can feel Darwin shaking in his grave in disbelief that you can be that old with your past, choices that have lead to some bad ends." Kai said as she could still hardly believe that Tera could ever live that long.
"Well coming to the Human world is probably the most stupid thing for a Digimon. We die here, no reincarnation, data dissipates permanently, no restart of an egg. And that was your choice to bring me here, hah!" Tera said as Kai seemed genuinely surprised by that information. Her eyes opened wide as her jaw dropped by shock alone.
"For the smart one you really don't got a lot of smart things to say, huh-" Tera said as Kai would take a moment to recompose herself. "You waited, weeks, to tell me this, but you tell me just now? No wonder every digimon calls you the worst partner. I had to learn Fusion from someone else, I had to learn natural laws about the digital world and how beings of each world are affected by the other's natural laws from someone else, yet you knew this and never said anything?!" Kai said resisting the urge to pull her own hair out.
"Ooh... right. Yeah, well... I... um... maybe- well... probably... could've potentially... messed up a few times? Sorry?" Tera said stammering constantly as she would stumble through the confrontation. Kai took a deep breath before walking off to a vending machine nearby, trying to control her breathing as she needed a moment to cool her jets before bursting into rage.
"Boy, she's definitely full of anger lately. Normally she's more happy and laid back. Don't know what's wrong with her, aside from what her doctor said about her blood pressure last week." She said awkwardly to the other two.

Blackjack gave a cheeky grin before he said "Harmony and I only mentioned our ages. You are the one who revealed your age to us silly."
Harmony struggled to resist the urge to facepalm as it seemed Blackjack was being incorrigible on purpose. "What am I going to do with you, Blackjack? I swear you are doing that on purpose." Harmony said with a sigh.
"Yeah I guess I am but you know me, big sis, sometimes I can't help myself." Blackjack said before he turned to Tera and said "Oh come on, Tera, the Human World isn't so bad. Sure if we die here we don't get reborn but on the other hand it is often harder for a digimon to die here."
Blackjack and Harmony listened as Kai and Tera got into a small disagreement before Tera stammered out an apology. Then Harmony said "Take it easy, Tera. We all screw up sometimes. At least you seem to have some folks who care about you. Which explains why they seem to give you a hard time. Sorta like how I get on Blackjack's case when he gets us in trouble. You know I do it cause I care."

"No one wrote a book on dealing with Human partners before so this is a minefield for me." Tera said rubbing her neck as she was way off as usual. There were in fact dozens of books on this very subject written by various Digimon for both Digimon with human partners as well as for Digimon dealing with humans in general. Tera was given several on many occasions as well.
"But I guess the Digital World is too much for someone as brilliant as her. Every time she learns something basic about it she flips out on me for some reason, I wish we could go back to how it was months ago when we first met and she didn't react like this to learning the basics of the Digital World- wait- oh." Tera said as she soon realized why exactly Kai was mad. "Wait... Am I the one in the wrong here making her volatile by my inactions? No, that's crazy, you can't get mad at someone for not doing things right?- right?- She said as she was starting with denial as she was not taking the realization very well while Kai was still off getting a drink from the machines.
"Oh who am I kidding, she should've figured me out and used someone else- or maybe I could stop having to get my brain put back together on a weekly basis aand use it!" She said as she quickly moved onto anger as she seemed to be cycling through the stages rather quickly.
"Maybe I can find a Digimon that specializes in psychic powers and have him erase the last year of Kai's memory to start over and in turn give her a better experience, fair deal right- Wait doesn't that violate countless ethical rules?" She said as she had a failed attempt at bargaining which she was at least able to see the flaws of, before sliding into depression.
"It's hopeless, I'm an idiot who can never change." She said with her head down for a moment before quickly moving onto acceptance. "Well, she's stuck with me so no use crying about it!" She said cheerfully. It had taken her less then a minute to make the journey from Denial to Acceptance.

Blackjack cocked his head to the side when Tera mentioned that no one had written a book on dealing with Human partners before he then asked "Are you sure about that, Tera? Maybe there is a book on the subject in the Great Moving Library as that place seems to have a book on almost everything." Neither Blackjack nor Harmony had personally ever heard of such books or even knew if Tera was telling the truth or not about the matter, but they weren't going to call her a liar without any evidence.
They twins listened as Tera seemed to be questioning herself and it was going back and forth before Harmony then said "Maybe Kai chose to work with you, Tera, because there could be something she likes about you besides strength." Then when Tera mentioned finding a digimon who specialized in psychic powers to utilize them to erase Kai's memory of the past year both twins looked shocked before Harmony then said "Yes, Tera, I think that erasing her memory would be unethical. Can you think of something positive she has learned over the past year regarding the Digital World?"
Then as Tera began looking depressed Harmony said "I may be no expert on relationships be they bonds between humans and digimon or other kinds and I know neither is Blackjack."
"True enough on that, Harmony, but one thing my sister and I know is that a good relationship is definitely worth the hard work. If you care about Kai isn't that a positive start?" Blackjack asked his tone one that was trying to be positive.

"Well Kai isn't really interested in relationships, she keeps others at arms length. She has all the fixings of an ice queen behind that warm exterior- Not that she's a cold bitch as she is quite the opposite on the surface, apparently such a popular figure her school nickname is literally just Princess despite all she does for others she doesn't really have any notable relationships, somehow turning nearly everything into a business like professional relationship." Tera said as Kai was proving her point up as she had gotten distracted several times along the way back.
The first time she was helping lost American Tourist with her language skills. She was able to navigate the situation with ease before moving onto a child who's remote control toy was stuck up a tree, with Kai using her athletic skills to scale the tree to retrieve said toy and climb down, somehow still careful about her skirt and stockings not revealing anything ascending or descending the tree.
Lastly she managed to fix the prosthetic leg of an older man after it fell apart, and clearly vehemently protested a cash reward before walking away. "See?! She did all the right things, showed interest, cared for others, but never lets anything show? Isn't she just like her father by acting like this-"
She said as Kai was coming back into earshot just as Tera uttered the last part, and a darting glare from Kai confirmed that. "I'm sorry what did you say Tera?" Kai said putting on a false smile as if she didn't hear. Tera would gulp in response as even her Holosuit started to sweat. "Can I have a minute to go over my will?" She asked begging for mercy. "You had me do your taxes in Terminus a while back, I know you got nothing needing arrangements." Kai commented.
"Wait if you strike me down one way or the other, I am only going to rise back up more brain damaged?" Tera said trying to find some way out of Kai's wrath. "That's... probably true." Kai sighed into her hand.
"The one vehicle I can't trade in for an upgrade." She mused out loud.
