Talk about odd feelings. Tomiko awoke, flat on her face, flat to the dirt. With absolutely no idea of how it was possible for her to be in such a predicament. Last she remembered, she had been on the second floor of the school building. Midway through a rather boring lesson on algebraic equations. For her to be outside, one of two things must have occurred. Either she fell out the open window, somehow, and, fell down into the flower beds below, now possibly gravely injured. Or, she had fallen asleep and was soon to be awoken by the caw of her vulture-like teacher and issued some kind of punishment. Not sure which one was worse… She rolled over and looked up, and was greeted to a clear blue sky. Clouded by a canopy of very old and wild-looking trees. Nothing like what was so neatly kept in the school gardens. So, that narrowed her theories down to one. Thinking hard, Tomiko recalled, one odd fact. She had checked her phone, all sneaky-like, under her desk. There was a call… Everything around her seemed to go into slow motion. A flash of light. Then nothing. “WHAT IS GOING ON!!!”

"You know, girl, you're going to be the death of me." He said, licking at an ice cream cone that Marigold had insisted he buy for them. He held it out for her and she very cheerfully took a little nibble of the honey flavored cream.
"Well if we're going to be just walking through town in broad daylight, the least we can do is try not to make a nuisance of oursel-" Marigold paused in mid air and her head darted toward the woods off to one side, peering between two buildings as Tomiko sent bird digimon scattering into the air with her high shout. "That sounds like a human." Marigold said, able to pick up the barest buzz of Tomiko's voice through her antennae, not nearly enough to actually "hear" her, not at this distance but enough to know what she was hearing.
"In the middle of the Server Woods? By themselves?" He said, not so much questioning her assertion as probing for more detail. Marigold nodded and Zack sighed, popping his gold and bronze helmet over his head. "Lead the way, little lady." He said as Marigold took off at a bolt and Zack jogged after her, not in a full on sprint, not yet but ready to break into one at a second's notice should that be required of him.

After venting some of her frustration, Tomiko stood up slowly. Her face and front were splattered with thick globs of mud. She still had absolutely no idea what was going on. The current and only explanation that truly fitted was, she was dreaming at her desk. All of this was a figment of her imagination. Enhanced by the incredible boredom caused by algebraic equations. Sighing to herself, she turned around, only to be faced by a large black shadow. Thick ropes appeared out of nowhere, wrapping tightly around Tomiko’s waist, and, chest.
“Alas! This, most unsavory fiend has been captured!” “What the heck?!” Tomiko almost fell back to the muddy ground as the ropes were pulled tight, dragging her towards the shadowed shape. “What the actual heck!”As she was drawn closer, she got a better view of her captor. A black-bodied, stumpy sort-of knight creature slightly taller than she was. Pieces of silver plating glistened in the afternoon sun, clearly in the shape of a skull. “Alas! Fair demon. You will come with me or you may be slain!”With a second, Tomiko's face contorted into one of pure anger. She couldn’t help but snarl like a provoked lion as she struggled against her bonds. “Oh yeah, I don’t know what you are or what your problem is. But you better let me go, you over-sized trash can. Rusty! Rusty!”

The tone of shouting was getting louder as Zack and Marigold grew closer. Still too far away to make out anything specific as to the content of the shouts the two of them looked at one another and without any exchanging of words Marigold digivolved on the spot into her Stingmon for and Zack leapt into the air, landing on her back as they took off like a cannonball toward the sounds of distress.
"Please be ok, please be ok, please be ok." Zack mumbled to himself, sending up a silent prayer that he often used when faced with the stress of having to buzz toward a person in trouble at top speed. Just hoping against hope that he wasn't just a second too late, that someone wasn't already hurt. The Skull Knightmon came into view and Zack snarled, leaping off of his daughter's shoulders in mid air so that the hard light heel of his heavy boot would collide with the temple of the armored beast, not hurting it as much but certainly making its head ring with the violence of the impact as Zack dropped into a shoulder over shoulder roll through the dirt and soot, only finding his footing at the end of his skidding slide.
"Hey! Dark, shiny and stumpy!" Marigold said, flexing her claws so they glimmered silver in the sunlight filtering through the trees in rough blotches up above her. "Let the lady go before somebody gets hurt. Starting with you!" She said, buzzing down to her feet, letting her shoulders drop into a stance that would be ready to meet the mass of the knight should he charge.

Being a dream (or so she assumed), Tomiko wasn’t frightened of this stumpy little knight, even if it did look like a skull. Still, she didn’t like being held up in the air, against her will. “Hey! Trash can, you better let me down or you’ll face my… woah!”Before she had a chance to finish, the knight span her round so they were now face to face. “I sense a great darkness in you. I, sir Skullknightmon, a valiant and wise warrior of these lands, think that it would be most prudent to elimin...”Something flew out of nowhere, colliding with the black knight. It toppled backwards, pulling Tomiko with it. Only preventing its own fall by grabbing a trunk of a thick tree. “How most dare!” It stuttered, holding its iron head with its free arm. Tomiko, whose eyes were rolling by the sudden tumble, heard a voice, followed by a very loud buzzing noise. “This a weird dream...” “Alas, fellow warrior! Look at this foul flesh-creature,” the odd knight creature said, finally dropping Tomiko to the ground. “It is clearly here to disrupt the Digital World! How dareth we allow it to survive. I’m sure that you can understand.” With no more words, the hand of SkullKnightmon transformed into a scarlet-colored lance. With a flourish, it pointed it, right at Tomiko, who flinched slightly. It’s face turned away from the intruder to this private battle. Although, she couldn’t quite help but spit out another quip. “What’s your problem, Rusty. Scared of humans or is your helmet on too tight?”

"I wouldn't be making judgement calls on who or what looks threatening to the rest of us when you're the one grabbing strangers and pointing a lance at them, chrome dome." Marigold said, evidently very much out of patience for negotiation, especially with someone in trouble in the grip of the beast. The Skull Knightmon would feel a heavy rock loudly PING off the back of it's head, Zack having tossed the large stone. The knight would hopefully either flinch on impact or turn to see where the loud shot had come from only to see the small human tossing another rock in hand, this time directly at his faceplate, giving Marigold her opening. "Spiking Finish!" Marigold shouted as she bolted in, raising one of her spike covered forearms and bringing it down hard on the tendrils and ropes that were holding Tomiko in place. First things first was always to get the victim out of harms way as fast and humanly possible. She didn't slow down or stop after the shot though, carrying her momentum forward until she was driving her shoulder into the chest of the black armored beast, hitting with as much inertia as she could drive into them both so hopefully give Tomiko some distance between her and her captor.
"You alright, ma'am?" Zack asked, skidding underneath Tomiko as she dropped a short distance to the ground, catching her out of the air in the classic heroic style before setting her down on her own two feet when it was clear she wasn't actually hurt, physically at least, he could only imagine how confused she was in that moment. ---
Spiking Finish!: Simple, but effective. Getting in at the right range to the person she's fighting and delivering a heavy smacking backhand with the spikes across the back of her armored gauntlets, getting as much weight and momentum as possible behind the strike doesn't make up for the fake that its ease of use and short distance make it a weak, but usable go to move (0 turn cooldown)

The SkullKnightmon readied his lance for an attack against the ‘filthy human’. However, before he had a chance to take even a step. Something stuck the side of his head and bounced off with a loud PING. It turned its head, just at the wrong time, and then SMACK.
Through the force of the attack, SkullKnightmon slid backwards, leaving large trenches in the turned earth. Tomiko had to assume it was due to the top heavy form of this creature’s physique. At the same time, it had managed to save Tomiko, cutting the ropes and then being caught.
“Uh, yeah, I guess so.” Tomiko sniffed as she gently returned to the ground. “Don’t go anywhere though. I might have a few questions when this is all over, though.”
Ol’ Rusty had got back to his feet, albeit wobbly. Plus, his temper seemed to be getting worse. “How dare thee! How are thee attack a knight such as I! You have made an enemy, this day.” The lance was now pointed directly at the taller, green bug-like creature who had been the attacker. “Why don’t you leave us alone, you rusty piece of junk!” Tomiko called, stepping forward.
“For the kingdom! For the safety of the Digital World. I will slay all of you. Breast-eye Wink!”
Jagged beams of red light shot from the skull’s eyes. Almost like horizontal lightning flew across the battlefield. It stuck the ground at their feet, before diffusing and breaking down into smaller bolts of energy. Striking the field around them, almost haphazardly. Although, it was quite likely that a single bolt of energy would be deadly, in dream terms at least. She’d just woke up, startled.
“Face me, human! Spear Needle!”
She had been so consumed in thought, she’d fail to watch the knight. It flew forward, the lance pointed outwards. “Alas, I win!”
Tomiko let out a shocked noise and closed her eyes, expecting to wake up at her school desk any second now. The grumpy teacher looking over her with her long beak-like nose, a ruler in her hand.
Out of nowhere, a colorful something bounded forwards, as if it was moving partly through the shadows themselves. It fell between Tomiko and the oncoming SkullKnightmon’s lance. “Dame da?”
The Knight struck but fell back, almost immediately. Crumpled slightly. “What is this sorcery,” It cried, as sparking crimson bolts of energy seemed to be coursing through it at odd intervals. A colorful monster had appeared and protected her from the attack. This new creature crumpled too, falling against Tomiko. "D...Dame..."
“I have no idea whats going on anymore...”

"Trust me, I'm going to have plenty of questions of my own once this is all said and done." Zack said, keeping his arm held out in front of Tomiko, ready to move to block whatever shot was coming from the black armored digimon. The moment that electricity and energy began to shoot from the scowling visage on its face he jerked so he was standing much more fully in front of her, bolts of smaller crimson energy grazing against the front of his custom gold and bronze motorcycle jacket, leaving patches smoking as he huffed from the burning aches that had been left in his body from the impact.
The newcomer probably saved both of their lives, the mass of red steel heading straight for them like an oncoming train. Zack had already been turned into a shish kebab once before in his life and it wasn't the kind of experience that he was itching to repeat any time soon. Though he closed his eyes tight and got ready to shove Tomiko backward with the weight of the lance piercing through him. That didn't end up happening though, the colorful, floppy, almost muppet like digimon that stood in front of them seemingly stopped the charging knight in his tracks with some kind of ability that made his recoil just long enough for Marigold to catch up.
"Alright, stumpy!" Marigold barked, grabbing the knight's helmet from behind, her massive clawed hand wrapping around the entire back of its head and sinking her claws into the eye-slit of the visor in the front, using it as leverage to wing the knight digimon through the air away from the two humans. "Pick on somebody your own size!" Marigold shouted, sending the Skull-Knightmon sailing, head over heels, into a particularly old and thick looking cluster of tress where the sound of crashing wood and a plume of grass, dirt and dust marked the punishing impact.
"I stopped questioning what was going on around here about six months ago, at this point I just go with the flow and try not to end up dinner." Zack half joked, turning to face Tomiko over his shoulder, not fully relaxing his defensive stance in front of her. Sure, the color mottled digimon in front of them had just saved them but that may have been an outcome of two predators fighting over food rather than any attempt to actually keep them among the living.
Marigold held her ground, halfway between where the knight had landed and where the digimon puppet was now, ready to break off in either direction should things go south.

Before, Tomiko would make any further movements or say a single word. The large bug-like monster had stuck once again, sending the knight soaring into the undergrowth behind them. “Right... I guess” Tomiko muttered in response. A fresh wave of confusion rising up in her stomach like butterflies. Her questions could wait for the minute. Until all of this was sorted out. The Knight rose back up again. Pushing away the fallen trunk of a tree and wiping away some of the dust and dirt that coated his metallic body. “Alas, I have found it. Two deplorable scoundrels at once! A human...” SkullKnightmon pointed one lance at Tomiko’s face. While the other was not pointed at the newcomer nor at the tall, green bug creature. It was instead pointing at the oddly moving, puppet-like monster, still crumpled at the base of a tree. “That, my fellow warrior, is the cursed monster that currently inhabits this forest. Causing chaos and terror wherever it ends up. I am hereth to slay it for the people of Terminus. Now stand aside, while I remove both of these creatures from this world.” The odd lightning that had covered its armored body continued to spark on each step . “No matter what it may have done to me. I will...”Tomiko stood up, and stepped forward, quickly interrupting the Knight’s long speech. “Right, right. We get it. You’re on some noble quest, blah-de-blah. Doesn’t meet you need to spear anyone, including me, on the end of your lance. I think your helmet is on too tight., you old rustbucket.”“Unless you wanna be bug food, I’d advise you back-off.” She glanced towards the bug monster again, who looked ready to fight on, and then to the fallen puppet-like monster who had started to rise again.

"Ooo, she's got spunk. I like her already." Marigold said in response to Tomiko's proclamation, turning more fully to face the gleaming armored digimon, digging clawed feet into the ground to get the leverage to push off sharply and drive herself into the knight should he make any sudden motions toward the closely standing group, making sure even to stay in a position where she could cover the puppet digimon should he require it.
"Yea, I'm starting to get that impression too." Zack said, nodding his head to Tomiko in a way that made his gleaming golden helm catch a ring of sunlight on its polished surface. "Usually it's my job to taunt the violent digimon three times my size." He said, his feet digging against the ground in a similar way to the way that his daughter was moving, ready to spin in any direction should the armored fighter make any sharp motions to attack.
"Crawl back into whatever hole you crawled out of with your cape between your legs and I promise I won't have to rip your lance off." Marigold said, making what seemed like a direct reference to the weapon the digimon was carrying but considering the snorting laugh that came from her father at that it seemed that the human-raised bug digimon was making an ever so slightly dirty double entendre about ripping off the knight digimon's "lance"
Zack was keeping a side eyed glance at the Digimon puppet, still not totally sure what its deal was but willing to put at least a half amount of trust in it for the moment. There was a chilling silence on the battlefield after that, both sides sizing one another up, muscles tensing, ready for chaos to break out at the Skull Knightmon's next move. Silently praying he decided to be smart about it.

For the first time, SkullKnightmon looked somewhat afraid. It was clear that he has not anticipated such trouble to disrupt what was expected to be a simple mission. Capture a monster. But instead, he had been faced with a bunch of humans and a rather aggressive and oddly powerful bug monster.
Tomiko looked down at the fallen knight. Her face has contorted slightly into a devilish smirk. The once-pristine steel body was now coated in soil and grime, from being sent flying back into the mulch. “I warned you, chrome dome. I mean I can’t do much to you but I’m pretty sure that my insect friend over here. Could... well, open you up like a tin can, turn you upside down and see what falls out. Do you want that?”
“How dare you talketh to a knight like that. Rippeth off my lance, turn thyself upside down. Such vulgarity. I cannot even begin to understand why this is happening to me.”
The knight stood back up, although it appeared quite wobbly on its metallic feet. “Alas. I shall withdraw for the day. But, don’t think I won’t be back! Terminus demands retribution! A curse that shall be broken! I will return!” Before any of them could act any further, it fired out its crimson skull-eye lasers again. Although, it wasn’t aiming at any of them, this time. It stuck the ground at their feet, sending a wave of mud and dirt. Fallen tree branches and leaves up into the air. By the time the attack has dispersed, the Knight had vanished. Although a loud clinking noise could be heard in the distance.
That strange multicolored puppet monster was still crumpled at her feet. It’s large and oddly blank eyes looking up at her. Tomiko sighed to herself, leaning against a tree. “I’m ready to wake up now. This dream is getting really weird...”

A large wad of mud and earth smacked against Zack's head, making it jerk back for a second before the dust cloud covering the warrior digimon's escape had fully settled, leaving his once gleaming gold and bronze costume covered from head to toe in dirt and grass. he sighed, clawing the clod of earth off of his helmet, or at least away from his visor.
"Fantastic, well that's another night cleaning a custom leather jacket. It's lucky I never have anything to do at night." Zack sighed, hooking his thumbs underneath his helmet and pulling the helm free of his head, showing his pale American complexion, if colored a bit by the shimmering of sweat.
"Well don't commit to the washer just yet, I think you and I have some...interesting introductions to make." Marigold said, shrinking down to her FanBemmon form in a flash of swirling light, buzzing at about eye level for Tomiko. "I hate to be the one to break this to you, young lady but um...you're not dreaming. Everything happening around you is totally real. The was a real giant knight, I'm a real insect monster and that..." She pointed to her father looking at his reflection in the dusty black visor of his helmet, trying to scrub it clean with the cloth around his elbow. "Is a real dweeb acting like a superhero." She said, causing Zack to look up with a snarky, unimpressed glare that just made Marigold giggle even more at her own tension breaking joke.
"She isn't putting it in the best terms but she's correct, ma'am. Welcome to the Digital World. I'm Zack and this is my daughter Marigold." Zack said, tucking the splattered helmet under his arm and peeling one of the gloves off of his left hand, holding it out to shake. "We should cover first bases first. Do you have any device on your person right now that you cannot previous account for? it's resemble a small pocket computer or old fashioned cellphone." He said, trying to describe the strange machine called a Digivice, pulling his own out of the pocket of his golden jacket.

Tomiko closed her eyes and then opened them again. She pinched her arms twice. Alas, nothing has changed. “I’d really like to wake up now.”
She was still standing in the middle of the forest with the man, now without his helmet, in the leather jacket. Plus, the green insect monster. Who had somehow shrunk down from a man-sized insect to a smaller bee-like monster. Somehow, this was not an improvement. Tomiko sighed to herself.
“You’re kidding me right. This is all a joke?” Somehow, she wasn’t ready to believe this was real. How could it be? Monsters weren’t real. She’d had that knocked into her head, years ago. All those stories she had not been allowed to read but she knew were... definitely fictional. Her father had been adamant on the subject. So much so, she had been forced to read long and complicated text books from a fairly young age. To ready herself for 'adult life.' “I just can't... I don’t understand... this is dumb,” Tomiko said, struggling to find sufficient words to describe her growing confusion and annoyance. These two were rather odd anyway. Also, she had noticed the word, ‘daughter’, when the daughter was a bee monster. However, she put out her hand to shake. Her words, at least for the moment, were lost. So instead, she just listened to them. The list of questions in her head growing ever longer, by the second. Upon asking about ‘a small pocket computer or an old fashioned cellphone.’ Tomiko simply looked at Zack like he was insane. “I don’t do old-fashioned. I’m a member of the Nobutada family. One of the most notable, wealthy and most well-known Japanese families.” The color on her face was slowly turning from pale white to its normal shade. “Of course, I don’t have anything of the sort.” But, she put a hand in her pocket and pulled out the contents to show them. Her state-of-the-art cellphone and a pair of airpods lay on her palm. “See. That’s it.” As if to prove it, Tomiko placed her hand in her coat, putting out the pockets. Suddenly, an odd device that she had most definitely not seen there before fell to the ground at their feet. Unable to stop herself, Tomiko leaned down to take a closer took. The odd device seemed damaged. As if parts were missing from it. The screen was blank and lifeless, and pieces of the innards were exposed . “Uh... okay. That... that wasn’t in there before. I don’t even know what this thing is.”
“Am I being pranked or something? I don’t do jokes.”

The first thing that Tomiko saw when she was making broad introductions about the famous and successful family she came from was Zack loudly and purposefully rolling his eyes, even throwing his head back a little in the gesture. It wasn't just a physical reaction it was direct feedback to what she was saying and he wanted her to see it. The middle class raised vigilante didn't exactly have a high, unshakable opinion of aristocracy, new or old.
"Well right now you're in another dimension and you very nearly got skewered by a knight monster four times your size, so unless your family has a guy for that you can call, I'd adjust your attitude accordingly." Zack said. He shook her hand, warmly and firmly despites his words. He was trying not to come off as TOO venomous, even if he couldn't help but be at least a little bit instantly frustrated by the way she had scoffed at a simple question and seemed to be very involved in denying what her senses were telling her.
"What the hell kind of people are you hanging out with where this could be a prank? You're standing out in the middle of a field, attacked by a monster the size of a car, saved by a human you've never met, a nine foot humanoid insect and a puppet creature with no bones!" Marigold reach out to point toward the slumped over digimon that still wasn't actually doing much though neither she nor her father seemed especially worried about it right at the moment.
"That, my lady, is a Digivice. And it confirms my suspicions." Zack said, putting some special emphasis on the way he pronounced "my lady", still trying to dislodge the girl from her perch as he explained things to her. "Ma'am I believe this..." He pointed down casually to the Sukasimon, seeing the puppet still slumped there, beady little eyes looking up and observing the conversation intelligently. "Is yours." He said, pointer finger moving smoothly from the puppet digimon to her, drawing and invisible link between them in the air.
"Most of the time, when humans are brought to the Digital World they're teamed up with at least one Digimon. Like me or like him, her, them. Whichever works." Marigold said, smiling down at the little puppet. He was actually sorta cute in a floppy sort of way the more she looked at him. "The fact that they showed up out of nowhere and that you have a digivice on you means that this is probably your partner." Marigold said, again, like her father, using her leg parts to draw an invisible link between the two of them in midair

Tomiko looked on, growing more and more irritated, befuddled and bewildered. She had been listening to this, so-called hero for sometime. Him and his little bug pet thing. “I don’t believe in monsters or any of this nonsense.” Simply, it was impossible, implausible by science, for any of this to be true. None of it made the slightest bit of sense. About as much sense as bad written science fiction. After taking her own long look at the crumpled ghost puppet. Tomiko shook her head and took a large step backwards. “Nuh, uh. I’m not taking responsibility for that thing. No matter if it saved me from a knight or not. I don’t want a imaginary monster on my side.”As if to answer her unwanted question and to confirm the theory that Zack and Marigold were putting forth. The Digivice that she was currently crushing in her hand, glowed suddenly. A bright white light emanated out from the small, previously lifeless, screen. The light became a long string that flowed out towards Sukasimon which wrapped around the ghostly arm. Another string burst from the other end of the Digivice and began to climb her own arm. The ghost monster watched it bind their arms with large white eyes. “What the heck is this? You really expect me to believe this to be true. Just because of a weird light show.”Annoyed now, she threw the Digivice down. It struck the ground and bounced, landing in between a clump of weeds. The strings vanished and the Digivice fell silent and lifeless once more. “I don’t believe any of this. I’m outta here. So long.”She turned as if to leave. But Sukasimon rose up as if to follow her. “Hey, you. Creepy. Leave me alone too. We’re not partners or whatever else you might think we are. No matter what that thing says. There is no future where we will team up.”
