You sure? I'm REALLY in another world? (Zack)

Tomiko would walk for only a short distance before she heard footsteps following hers, a slight yawn coming from somewhere behind her that would confirm that Zack and Marigold were still following her. Zack rubbing his eyes and yawning. The day was comfortably warm and the would be hero was almost always in need of a nap.
"Dad, do we really have to follow this lady around?" Marigold grumbled. She was already getting sick and tired of this girl's attitude and Zack couldn't exactly blame her from how Tomiko had been acting.
"Yes because she's going to get herself hurt or worse if we don't. We have to keep an eye on her until either she realizes this isn't a prank...or she realizes that either way she's stuck out here without shelter, food or water." Zack said, pulling his own digivice out of his coat and considering it, looking out over the town to one side and the horizon hills beyond it. "I hope Violet's doing alright, they're at the shelter all by themselves." Zack said, idly musing about his other ward that was waiting at the digimon shelter that the trio was running. They weren't exactly part of this whole superhero thing that Zack and Marigold were doing but that didn't stop him from worrying.
"Oh yes, because they're so well known for getting into trouble and not sitting in the same corner we left them in, scanning every book that we own." Marigold grunted, being a bit more curt when referring to the other ward of her father than was probably totally required.
Zack and Marigold kept close to Tomiko, not following so close behind that they were breathing down her neck and not attempting to stop her unless she was going to do something that would get her hurt. They were really just following along to watch the realization that would slowly begin to creep up on her, and to assist her when the reality of her situation hit her like a ton and a half of bricks.

Second by second, Tomiko was growing more irritated. Made worse by the so-called Super Hero following her, not to mention the stupid bee. “Hey, leave me alone. I don’t want your gibber-gabber anymore. I don’t believe in it and eventually, I’ll wake up or I’ll find my way outta this stupid Narnia...”Also, that odd, boneless, multi-colored creature was silently following behind the group. Looking as brainless as ever. Tongue lulling from one side of the mouth. Eyes looking blank without any thought behind them. After a few minutes of walking, Tomiko turned to face the pair, who had been talking quietly among themselves. Tomiko simply waved a hand in a nonchalant sort of way, as if to sweep them away, frowned nastily, and said, “Buzz off, bee boy.”With this said, she turned her back on all three of them and broke into a run. Fortunately for Tomiko, and perhaps less so for the pair who followed – her greatest skill through out school was her athletic ability, specifically running. She was gonna leave ‘em in the dust. Without any pause, she ran as fast as she could, leaving that thicket of ancient forest behind her. Every now and again, she’d take a few bends. A left then a right, and then another right, just to make perfectly sure that she was not in any danger of being followed by any unwanted guests. Of course, she had no idea where she was going nor where she might end up by doing this. But, it’d be better than what she was leaving behind. After around ten minutes, Tomiko paused, and with the utmost care, slid down into a ditch carved deeply through the ground. It must have happened recently, because a log had been placed over the wide gap as a temporary bridge of sorts. Using the bridge to shade herself, she wiped away the growing sweat that was beading on her forehead. “Dammit,” she muttered. “How the hell am I going to get out of this dump...”Placing a hand into the pocket of her skirt. She pulled everything in there and held it out in the palm of her hand. But, the only things of note were the odd device that had appeared of its own volition, the state-of-the-art smartphone, and the airpods. That weird, broken and ancient-looking device glimmered for a second, but otherwise did nothing of interest. She threw it away into the ditch without looking at it any further. Sighing and almost hitting herself for not thinking of it sooner. Tomiko turned on the phone. Maybe she could use it to call for help, or a lift out of here. A helicopter, a car. Heck, even a bike would be fine right about now. It seemed for one second like all was well, until an odd surge of energy shot through the device; the screen lit up, sparked and displayed a long line of gibberish. Before finally falling as silent as her digivice. “God dammit...”

"Wha-HEY!" Marigold almost bolted after Tomiko as she took off at a run, Zack grabbing hold of his daughter's leg before she took off, pointing upward into the air with a smile. Tomiko wasn't thinking in terms of her new reality and as such was only considering them from a mundane human perspective. She was faster than Zack as a sprint, sure, but that didn't make the superhero an idiot.
When Tomiko paused, standing in that ditch she would hear the distant sound of buzzing over her head. Leaning her head back to look up into the deep blue, cloudless sky she would see Marigold, buzzing right over the tree line, having followed her the entire way like a news helicopter following a car on a high speed police chase. She floated down toward Tomiko and even without lips it as clear just from the look on her face that he expression could only be classified as a "shit eating grin"
"You uhh, you didn't fully wrap your head around the whole "giant bee" thing did you?" Marigold said as they both turned to face the sound of heavy footfalls and saw Zack rounding the corner, carrying the puppet digimon with one of the creature's floppy arms thrown over each shoulder like a backpack, the blank eyed creature staring pout past him toward Tomiko. He had only been about ten feet behind her at any point during the chase.
"Well she didn't seem to get the whole "Superhero" thing either. Trust me, ma'am, I'm more than capable of keeping up with some pampered aristocrat over uneven ground." He said, skating down over the edge of the ditch, dislodging small rocks and kicking up a mane of dust down across the ground. "So...are you gonna keep sprinting off in random directions because I can PROMISE you, running in this direction you'd starve to death before you get anywhere, especially not finding a way home which is in the EXACT opposite direction." He said, setting the puppet digimon down and jerking a thumb over his shoulder. The spires and skyscrapers of Terminal weren't visible from here but a tall column of smoke was still puffing softly into the sky from the couple of small houses and then larger ones marking the locations of Rosewood and the Village of Beginnings.
"True that, the only thing in the direction you were running is the Tyrant's Labyrinth. So if you wanna crawl through thorn bushes and thickets, you'll mess up all your perfect hair or whatever." Marigold snickered. They really were trying not to mock the rich girl too much but it was hard not to when she was being THIS combative.
"Also, you might wanna check the pocket of your skirt again. Just to confirm to you that you're not getting rid of that Digivice." Zack said, patting down the front of his costume as she reached in and found the same device she had JUST tossed, chilling exactly where she had left it like nothing had happened at all.

Returning the clearly non-functioning phone back into her pocket, Tomiko turned to face the ‘Super Hero’ and the ‘Giant Bee.’ Hands on her hips and look of immeasurable distaste across her face. “I knew you’d follow me. For a figment of my imagination, you’re very persistent.”
However, Tomiko was speaking more to herself than to them. She was ignoring their digs at her for now, and was attempting to be more... responsive to what they were saying. Although, Tomiko was still quite unsure if anything they said was truth or a lie. Not to mention, they had been correct about at least one thing. The Digivice or whatever it was called, had vanished from where Tomiko had thrown it. Reaching into her other skirt pocket, she felt it pressing against her fingertips. This just annoyed her more and her face definitely showed it. If this world was somehow real after all, although, she was still doubting that to be anything less than fiction, and she was, as they said, walking right into a 'Tyrants, whatever', or going the exact opposite way for civilization or whatever. She could die, starve to death, or any other form of trouble she could fall into. For a second, Tomiko considered both of these so-called heroes. “You know what, fine,” Tomiko said, simply. “ Clearly I can’t get rid of you two. You’re far too persistent and heroic for that. You watched too many super hero movies.” Annoyed but less likely to argue or to run away, she crouched down, against the wall. Grumbled to herself in a clearly aggressive manner and said, “I need you to prove to me, this is real.”
The strange puppet monster was once again staring at Tomiko. Large blank eyes focused, only on her. It’s tongue continuing to lull out in an oddly creepy sort of manner. “Also, why is that thing... My partner, was it? Why didn’t I get a dumb giant bee too, or one of those knights. Why that?”

"That's factually true, yes." Zack said in response to Tomiko's accusation that he watched too many superhero movies. Say what you will about the ridiculousness of his little personal crusade but he was at least self aware enough to realize how insane it sounded to the vast majority of people.
"Prove to you this is real. Ok. Here's a classic one." Marigold buzzed down to right beside Tomiko, reaching out with one of the spikes on the end of the insect girl's legs and prodding Tomiko hard on the skin of her forearm, sending a sharp jab of pain through her skin, not enough to break it or draw blood but enough to make her realize that the momentary pain from it was completely real. "I'm a giant bee, ok? No animatronics, no strings, I'm as solid as anything else in the world, you can feel for yourself just don't touch my scarf." She said, unsure of how exactly she was going to get this young woman to listen to reason if she wasn't going to believe what was right in front of her eyes and right under her hands.
"Ma'am." Zack said, very starkly, very sharply, enough to perhaps send a tingle of stress up her spine when she referred to Marigold as a "dumb giant bee". "I would say I am being exceptionally patient with your god forsaken attitude right now. If you would like that to continue I would suggest you keep the disrespectful venom about my daughter's appearance or intelligence to a bare minimum." He said, his face and his intention changed almost instantly from grinning, roguish superhero to snarling, protective papa bear in an instant. For whatever reason he called Marigold his daughter he was making it VERY clear to Tomiko that he did not consider it an affectation or a joke. His momentary lapse of good nature also drew her attention to how tall, broad and well built the man had made himself due to the demands of his lifestyle.

Frowning so hard, it looked like she had been sucking on a super sour sweet for some time. Tomiko leaned back against the cool wall of the deep root-filled crevice; they were still crowded in. “Say, I believe you now,” Tomiko said in a way that made it sound like it was all up in the air still. “Not that I do. Nothing about this place screams logic, to me. It’s kinda like something out of a dopey kids book.”As she said it, Marigold moved forward and reached out. Pressing a spike that protruded from one of the insect’s legs into her forearm. She panicked and lost balance, almost slipping on the vine-strewn floor. A sensation of pain had run up her arm and then faded. It was like she had been stabbed with a very tiny but very real knife. “Pass,” she muttered, moving away from the bee. Unwilling to be prodded by anymore spikes. “Why am I sure you enjoyed that...”“Dame da?” The strange creature of pastel colors, splatted all over the body spoke for the first time in a while. His blank white eyes had once more focused on Tomiko. She looked back at him, a look of annoyance crossing her face. “What, you find it funny or something?”Tomiko then turned to Zack, who had what she would call a face like a wounded bear. Her lip curled into a smirk. Oh, ho ho. Finally got to you, huh. He was going on and on about what he should call the dumb bee thing. Like she really cared. “Alright, alright. Chill out. I got it. No more calling that bee, dumb or whatever,” Tomiko said, shrugging in an uninterested sort of way. Just because he was a foot taller than she was, and well built and muscular. Just because he got to this stupid world first, if it really was real. Although, that was still a hard sell. He was acting like a big, annoying jock. After a minute of brutal silence and annoyed stares. Tomiko spoke up once again. “So, let’s pretend, I believe, for the sake of the argument. Where is the nearest town? I think you did mention one earlier?”
Maybe, she could find her way somewhere less... full of heroes. Get a proper answer, and see if it did turn out to be real. Again, don’t really believe it, but, if it suddenly was... then she could find a first class ticket to get the hell out of his dump.

"The closest town from here is Rosewood, just over those hills there." Zack turned, pointing to the largest, thickest pillar of smoke that was pouring upward over the endless rolling hills in the direction he was gesturing. "Though being totally honest I don't think you're in the kind of shape to go straight there. You look a mess, you've torn your clothes in at least three places and you've got mud everywhere. I'm sure you're stressed out, exhausted and probably more than a little hungry by now." He said, reaching out to offer her a hand off the ground. Even if she was being an annoyance he wasn't just going to let her sit in the mud and grass without making the offer to help her up.
"We run a shelter that's closer by here. If you want we can stop in, get you some food, a bath, maybe even a nap if you need it. Trust us, we know more than anybody what it's like when your adrenaline starts to give out on you." Marigold said, indeed knowing what she was talking about. Eventually Tomiko would start to feel all of the energy she expended in the fight and just after catching up with her, not to mention all the aches and bruises she ended up with. It might not be right now but it would certainly happen soon.
"From that sprint you took you seem like an athlete of some description to me so I'm sure you know better than me how much tank you have left to run on, so if you wanna go straight to Rosewood we can do that. I'm just suggesting you take some time to get your head on straight. I know this is...a lot." Zack said, rolling his head to one side and feeling a pop in his neck, grunting and relaxing as he worked out some of his left over tension.
"Besides, you should probably take some time to figure out what you're going to do with your partner here." Marigold said, pointing down to the floppy puppet who was still giving that ugly-cute grin up at nothing in particular which would be almost unsettling if it wasn't at least a little charming.
"Yea, you two are gonna be seeing a lot of each other from here in on. Probably best that you start on that sooner rather than later." He said, picking up the light creature, weighing just as much, if not less than a creature made of felt would seem to, trying to hand the warm, fuzzy creature to Tomiko.

It only took a single second of thought, until an answer reached Tomiko’s lips. “I want to go to the nearest town. Nothing more, nothing less.” It was such a simple answer. For once, there was no arrogance behind it. All that she wanted was to go home now. Rosewood might have been able to deliver on that if she was lucky. Looking out over the hills, which stretched out for miles beyond the direction that Zack pointed. Zack had offered to take her to his ‘shelter’ or something. Tomiko considered this proposal for a second, but then shook her head. “I’ve already decided. I’m outta this dump as soon as possible.”Despite the fact that she was extremely tired and winded. She just didn't want to admit it, especially in front of the so-called ‘Super Hero’. Tomiko rose back to her feet and took several steps forward. Her eyes flashed with focus as she concentrated all her remaining energy on the destination. Her eyes then moved over to her supposed partner as Marigold spoke. The annoying creature that wouldn’t leave her alone. Its dopey grin, stupid color-scheme and inability to talk, filled her with fresh wrath. “Hmm... well, I guess so.” Silently thinking, that she’d try to get rid of it, as soon as she found a way too. “I don’t suppose I can get rid of any of you for the time being, huh?” She looked from Sukasimon that Zack was trying to hand to her, to the muscular hero boy, and finally to the oversized bee monster. A fresh look of irritation coursing through her. Zack and Marigold’s persistent need to watch over every move she made had painfully reminded her of her father. A utterly ruthless businessman with too much money and no morals for anyone else. He had wished that his only child, Tomiko, would learn the ways of business. So much so, he had forced his way into every single decision over her entire life.
“I doubt I could get rid of any of you if I tried. You’re far too persistent and not in a good way.” Tomiko turned her nose up at them all, and walked away in the direction that she had been pointed to.

"Oh you want to go STRAIGHT home? That's...I mean that's going to be a bit more complicated." Zack said, pausing, walking slightly behind her, scratching the back of his head in a slightly embarrassed manner. It seems he had misunderstood what she had meant. "The only train back to the human world is in Terminal, the Digital Capital." He said, pointing off to the east, slightly away from Rosewood where she could see the smoke of homes dancing in the sky. "At just a march it'll take us...a few hours I think to get there." He said, shrugging. He wouldn't try to divert the woman of her path, only letting her know the context of what she was asking for.
"If you'd like, I can take us there after my digivolution. It wouldn't be comfy carrying all three of us but we'd get there faster." Marigold said, scratching under her chin as she considered it. Her Stingmon and JewelBeemon forms were both taller than a man but not that much taller. It would be possible for her to carry Zack, Tomiko and the floppy puppet digimon but it wouldn't exactly be comfy, especially because her style of flight was more...insectoid than avian, lots of sharp banks to one side or the other in order to catch the updrafts of wind and heat coming off the ground. Her father had long since gotten used to hitching a ride but this new girl...probably not so much.
"Are you sure you wanna make that trek in your condition? Marigold and I didn't exactly pack the rations for a hike and you look, well, you look like you've been through a little bit of fresh hell if you catch my meaning." Zack said, his more polite and concerned nature making it clear he didn't wanna tell her straight up that she looked like death warmed over but she had just been in a life or death scrap and it was clear that she was having to force her focus a little bit, Zack knew the feeling, if she kept trying to shove down the tired feeling than it would only catch up with her stronger when she wasn't looking, and that wouldn't be pleasant for anybody, least of all her.
