Deep in the Server Woods both Kshin and Grace were hunkered down in a cave. The reason for this was because somehow things had gotten out of hand. All this because the book they found had led them to this general region.
One week prior....
Kshin and Grace were making their way along after leaving the village where Kshin's adopted Jijimon grandfather Theron had taken a look at the magical book the pair had found. After looking the book over for some time Theron had deduced the book itself was more ancient than the Digital World itself and had no idea where it remotely came from. Yet his assumption regarding the book was that it was trying to guide Kshin and Grace somehow but didn't know the reason why.
When the friends passed made it about a week away from the village itself Kshin had been quietly thinking on the information he learned and, curiously enough, so had Grace. It was a lot to take in that the book was not only older than the Digital World but likely from another world in and of itself. Who knew how it arrived in the Digital World or the books purpose other than some form of guidance but it still stirred the curiosity of the two youngsters.
As they passed by the Server Woods a hum of power vibrated from Kshin's backpack causing him to pull the book from within. Wondering what was going on he opened the book turning the pages before the image of an egg like object with bat ears and what looked like wings folded around it and placed on an alter surrounded by trees made Grace and Kshin stare at the forest before Kshin said "That thing looked like a Digimental, Grace. Maybe it's inside the forest."
"Looks like it would turn the user into some kind of bat digimon. Too bad the book is in black and white or we could of had a better idea what kind of bat we are dealing with." Grace said scratching her chin. Kshin said nothing to his friend's observation as he was closing the book and placing it back in his backpack.
As the pair began walking a growl caused the pair to stop turning in the direction of the growl. Grace became engulfed in dark flames before she said "Gammamon digivolve to... BetelGammamon." Grace's dark flames turned into the normal shades of red and orange before Grace walked out of it in her champion form.
As Kshin was about to digivolve to his armor form the source of the growl crashed through the treeline in the form of a MasterTyrannomon. An ultimate level threat. Not good. MasterTyrannomon swung its tail at Kshin and Grace trying to hit them and the pair scrambled out of the way. Odds were against the pair indeed. When MasterTyrannomon charged Grace she was hit sending her flying into the trunk of a tree knocking her out and she dedigivolved back into Gammamon. Growling Kshin glared at the dinosaur as he became engulfed in the light of digivolution. "Gumdramon digivolve to....Arresterdramon!" Kshin's amber eyes gazed over himself as he realized he had the same champion level as his father. When MasterTyrannomon roared he snapped his head up knowing he was no match and turned sprinting for Grace grabbing her and running off into the forest. By the time he found the cave to hide in he had dedigivolved back into Gumdramon pulling his friend into the cave. Grace had a bump on her head but fortunately seemed fine otherwise. Seemed being a triceratops like digimon gave her the protection she needed when she hit the tree.

The pair heard a jingling and a thumping coming from downwind somewhere, the sound of voices shouting at each other as they too stumbled into the cave after a while. Ollie slumped onto his backpack, becoming more like a turtle laying back on his shell as he compressed down into the fabric of the rucksack like he was deflating into a beanbag chair. His chest was heaving, panting, sputtering steam out into the air above him as he totally relaxed.
"When you...pant...pant...said you wanted to show me something COOL in this forest. I didn't assume that you meant a GIANT ANGRY DINOSAUR!" Ollie said, turning his head to Procopius who way laying flat on the bottom of his body, equally panting. It seems they had also had to take off at a run from the giant angry predator.
"Hey it's not MY fault! I didn't put him there and I certainly didn't step in his cornflakes or whatever the hell else has got him in such a murderous rage. I just wanted to show you this really old tree that I found once." Procopius said, shaking his head to try and rattle out the cobwebs and adrenaline that was thumping from one end of his skull to the other in cascading soundwaves. He opened his large amber-orange eye and yelped, jumping back up to his claws as he spotted the pair also taking shelter inside the damp cave mouth. "HOLY SMOKES!" He said, not sure why his first instinct had been to avoid cursing in front of Ollie, though his surprise only lasted a second as it became clear the pair was in neither the shape nor the mood to attack them.
"Hmm? What is it? Something else that wants to kill us?" Ollie said, turning over like a turtle flopping back onto it's feet before pushing himself back up to a stand, smiling to make a gentle introduction before realizing both of the digimon were banged up and exhausted. "Oh you poor things." Ollie said, pulling a rag from his things and wetting it with some of the cool water collecting in the gave, very gently offering it to the Gammamon's spooked partner. "Here. This should help the swelling. We don't want to hurt you. Promise." Ollie said as he offered the rag but did not try to apply it himself. He wasn't even going to get within arm's reach of the pair. The last thing anybody needed was for him to be backing them into a corner.
"I can second that. This kid couldn't hurt a fly if you handed him a two by four." Procopius said in that slightly gruff but charming accent and tone that was growing on Ollie more as they travelled through the Digital World together.
"Were you two also attacked by that thing outside?" Ollie said, sitting down and unslinging his pack, pulling out a notebook and a pencil, beginning to scribble notes and sketches of the cave around them and make notes of their travel to the forest and encounter with the dinosaur digimon outside. he had to keep his logs updated so that he could eventually put them in the large codex that took up most of the room in his bag. He didn't start to draw or note down the duo in front of him though, that was generally something he liked to ask permission for before he started. He would eagerly get around to recording these two when they weren't so knocked about and maybe weren't pinned down by an angry tyrant lizard.
"I couldn't tell if it was feral or not. Hard to get a good look at its eyes when I'm all the way down here." He said, looking up and trying to crane his small head to look to the treetops, silently cursing at his little body. He used to be so much bigger than this!

The two friends sat hearing the jingling noise approach them wondering just what was heading their way next. While Kshin highly doubted MasterTyrannomon gave up so easily one thing he didn't do on his rampage was make a jingling sound. Grace leaned up as she asked "Hey, Kshin. Am I hearing things or is there some kind of jingling sound coming our way?"
The Gumdramon shook his head as his amber eyes peered out of the cave into the dark night looking for the source as he said "No I hear it too and footsteps too light for MasterTyrannomon. As big as that guy was it would take him much more time to maneuver through the tightly packed trees."
Before Kshin could say anything more a pair came into the cave with them with one being a human and one being a digimon. Odds were it was a tamer with his partner. The duo had obviously not noticed Kshin and Grace as they came in and were talking about running from an angry dinosaur. Apparently the two of them had also crossed paths with MasterTyrannomon. Whether it was before, after, or at the same time as Kshin and Grace was unknown to the two friends at this point but Kshin figured it didn't matter.
Then when the human boy's Tsumemon partner yelled Grace clutched her head and said "Easy. Not so loud. My head is killing me."
Then the human boy flipped over like a turtle noticing them and brought a rag over to Grace. "Thanks but the bump isn't all that bad. Comes in handy being a triceratops like digimon." Grace said before clutching her head and said "Nevermind. Maybe it will help deal with this monstrous headache I have from being knocked into a tree."
"Yeah my friend and I came across that MasterTyrannomon but as you can see things went out of hand real quick. All this because an image of a digimental appeared in a magic book that I have in my possession." Kshin said with a sigh.

"Digi...metal..." Ollie scribbled the words down sharply, wanting to get it all down quickly before he lost it. Even when he was under this much stress he didn't want to miss a single word of what was being said. This, whatever this was turning out to be, certainly merited the label of an interesting story at least. "I'd ask what that is, but we seem to have other priorities right now and I'm sure it's something I can look up when we're not in such dire straights." He said, looking out the mouth of cave, scanning the tree line after taking a moment to scrub his glasses free of the sweltering steam that had collected on them.
"Oh boy, wait until he realizes that you said..." Procopius closed his single eye waiting for Ollie's focus to actually sift through the order of the conversation onto the topic of the...
"MAGIC BOOK?!" Ollie said, still trying to stay quiet. The last thing he wanted to do was shout out loud in a cave while they were A. trying to hide from a massive beast outside and B. in the polite company of a digimon with a currently splitting headache. "M...may I see it?" He said, setting his notes on his lap. His eyes had a curiosity and a voraciousness in them that twinkles and sparkled beneath both his thick glasses and the color of his eyes.
"Beyond his curiosity, the kid's a whizz when it comes to picking books apart and making all their secrets seem like the most obvious thing in the world. If there's something you might have missed, he'll be able to find it." Procopius sighed. He had watched and listened to Ollie scan through a book so overly complex and romantically written it might has well have been etched in a different language and still come away with every piece of important overtone, text and subtext like he was picking rocks up off the side of the road. Unlocking books like a puzzle was exactly what the young man was best at.

Kshin and Grace watched as the human they didn't know the name of began scribbling down the words they said. Afterwhile Kshin said "It's called a digimental but you have a point. For us to head out to find it we have to be careful of MasterTyrannomon and I for one am not really thrilled for a rematch seeing as that big dino is an ultimate level digimon and I had only just recently reached champion for the first time tonight."
When the Tsumemon with the inquisitive human spoke up his words caught Kshin and Grace's attention before Ollie's exclamation made both friends jump in surprise with Grace's wings extending out from her back as a result as she clutched her throbbing head and groaned. "Easy not so loud. Remember the angry dino from earlier. I know none of us are too eager to end up that digimon's dinner."
Kshin looked as Ollie was wanting to see the magic book he was carrying the teen's eyes sparkling with curiosity. Kshin really couldn't blame him for being curious as he inherited his own natural curiosity from his birth family. "Sure. Why not? What's the harm?" Kshin said digging into his bag pulling the magical book from within before setting the clearly ancient book gently upon the ground before he said "The only thing we know for sure about this book is that it's older than the Digital World itself and that was only because we took the book to the only expert in magical artifacts we knew of. Even Grandpa Theron couldn't figure it out and he has been alive for a very long time."

"A bastard that big has had to been in more than his fair share of scraps. They don't usually get that big on their own time unless they've made a habit out of knocking down all comers, sometimes permanently." Procopius said with a shudder as he continued to scan out the mouth of the cave, his antennae standing on end, listening for any shift in the wind or the ground to warn them that the dinosaur digimon was headed back in their direction. "Oh, and since he's probably more invested in that book than anything else on the planet right now, I'm Procopius, this here is Ollie." Procopius said, pointing one of his back claws up at himself and then over at the young man who was pouring over the book.
"Hmm? Oh. Yes. Hello." Ollie said, mumbling to himself as he etched in his notebook without looking, pouring over every page of the ancient tome with a speed and thoroughness that seemed almost unnatural, jotting down every possible piece of worthwhile information. Even if he couldn't read the language the book was written in he made sketches of every diagram, took done notes of every repeated line given any prominence within the text, running through it like a machine set to scan the pages. "This digital language...I must invest in resources to learn it for myself." He said, making a note of that also without looking up from his mumbling scan of the tome, flipping back and forth through the pages with a gentle speed that left his eyes flickering over them, one page after the other and then back again for reference.

Hearing swearing was something Kshin was used to by this point even though he had never heard his adopted parents do so before. It made the young Gumdramon wonder if Mandrake and Lothar ever swore at all. His train of thought was derailed when the Tsumemon introduced not just himself but his tamer as well causing Kshin to look at the small digimon keeping watch before he said "I'm Kshin and my friend's name is Grace."
"Nice to meet you, Ollie and Procopius!" Grace said some of her normal peppiness coming back despite her throbbing head. It seemed hard to keep the Gammamon down for long. Then she looked at Procopius before she said "Procopius, your name sure is a bit of a mouthful but that's not bad. It's uniqueness is what makes it sound so cool. Is it some old human name?"
Ollie seemed distracted by the magical book which had remained blank since showing the image of the digimental. 'Does this book have a mind of its own or something?' Kshin thought before shaking his head at the thought as that was pretty silly given that even by Digital World standards of weirdness that sounded quite silly. This made Kshin wonder what was going on in Ollie's mind as the teen was busy etching something into the notebook. It was most likely regarding the magical book Kshin and Grace found in the Great Moving Library not long ago. "Grace and I found that book in the Great Moving Library not long ago. The librarian seemed confused as this book apparently part of the inventory. So we were told we could just take it with us." Kshin could then feel the magical power come from the book so he leaned forward waiting to see what would happen as he stared at the blank pages.

"My name you mean? Yea, Ollie here gave it to me. He said it's the name of one of his favorite historians, said he used to follow some general around and take notes of all the important stuff that happened on the trail. Since we were going to be travelling together it seems to fit things pretty wall. Plus, I think it sounds like a big, important guy name." Procopius said as he puffed up his chest in response to the question about his name. He hadn't had it very long but already it had become something precious to him, one of the things that Ollie had given him for free when he was already long convinced nothing was for free.
"Hold on a second..." Ollie paused, running his fingers along one of the blank pages, the sound of softly creasing paper as his hands rolled too gently across the page to make the sound instantly gave the impression something was afoot. "This page...it's not blank." His eyes scanned back and forth across it, even if everyone around him couldn't see what on earth he was talking about and still his fingers moved across the page. "This is...hold on." He rummaged through his bag, tearing out a couple pieces of scrap printer paper and a standard number two pencil. He placed the paper on top of the page he had been inspecting and rolled the pencil back and forth rapidly across the page. As if by magic, as the pencil rolled across minute indentations in the page the writing on it appeared on the paper atop it, letter by letter, word by word they appeared. "The egg of sound, is always bound, in the shadowed trees beneath. To call to ground, the treasure found...between the dragon's teeth....oh no." Ollie groaned as he fully illuminated the page, reading out the riddle as he went...and eventually showing a picture of the armored digi-treasure...wedged between the two back teeth of the massive tyrannosaur.

"Sure sounds pretty fancy but judging by Ollie's behavior he seems like the historian while you seem more like the general. The name still sounds like it could fit a warrior too though." Kshin said taking notice of Procopius puffing up proudly. This was something he could understand as he would get rather proud of various achievements of his but he tried to make sure he didn't get as overconfident as LJ was when he left. Yet sometimes Kshin's overconfidence flared up potentially leading to trouble.
When Ollie said the page was not blank Kshin looked at the pages as some writing slowly began appearing on the page which was quite the surprise as writing had yet to appear so far when he had the book. "Writing? That's strange as up until now all Grace and I have seen where black and white pictures."
"The egg of sound, is always bound, in the shadowed trees beneath. To call to ground, the treasure found...between the dragon's teeth." Grace repeated wondering what that all meant before she asked "What in Yggdrasill does that mean?" Kshin responded with a clueless shrug as he was just as lost as she was.
Then the image of what looked like a treasure of some kind wedged in between the back teeth of not just any dinosaur but MasterTyrannomon. "That makes no sense. Digimentals usually are only able to be grabbed by those destined for them and I'm not sure MasterTyrannomon is."

"I don't...I don't think he's touching it. Look." Ollie said, using his pencil as a pointer to demonstrate what he was seeing, showing where the image demonstrated bits of grass, twigs, even stones jammed between those back teeth of the massive tyrannosaur. "I think he ended up biting down on the egg's hiding place, maybe hunting something or just grazing for food, and because he can't touch it or break it, it's totally jammed between his teeth." Ollie said, drawing lines that showed the the dinosaur's tooth wasn't actually in contact with the egg itself, if it would even have been visible, just that it's teeth had even up as the perfect spot for whatever hiding spot the egg HAD been using to nestle in uncomfortably tight.
"Yikes. That looks...unfortunate." Procopius said, even his own voice sounding uncomfortable as he imagined having an invulnerable egg's hiding spot jammed right between two back teeth when the massive, angry dinosaur didn't have arms long enough or dexterous enough to reach into his own mouth and try and get it out, if he would even have been able to move whatever the egg was hidden in.
"That...might be why he's running around screaming and snapping at everything he can see. We might be in a Lion and the Mouse story." Ollie said, already in the habit of relating things he had seen on his adventures to the books he'd read and the stories he'd internalized.

"Hmm. Maybe he didn't reach the alter yet as MasterTyrannomon didn't seem in pain when he attacked us. It was more like he saw Grace and I as a potential meal." Kshin said shivering at the thought of being devoured by a feral digimon.
"Maybe, like that one town we went to shortly after getting the book, it is a future event." Grace said sitting up while rubbing her head. One thing she was not eager for was round two with the large dinosaur since she and Kshin could only reach the champion level. "But if on the chance this incident has already happened we have to check out the alter to see if that's the case. Though I wouldn't blame anyone for being uneasy about heading into the forest to look for it. I know I am not fond of the idea of being eaten or thrown around like a frisbee by an ultimate level digimon even in the best of times."
Kshin pushed himself to his feet picking up the book and placing it back in his bag. Compared to Ollie's his was small and after taking in the size of the bag he said "Ollie maybe one day you should consider getting an Infini-Store so you can carry all your things in a smaller bag."
"Kshin, you're not thinking of going out there are you?"
"Yes, Grace. I think we were led to the forest for a good reason and I should be fine if I'm careful."
Grace pushed herself up and grabbed Kshin's arm before she said "You mean we since there is no way I will let you go into that forest with a rampaging dinosaur roaming around."

"The book can show you future events? Fascinating." Ollie said, sitting down onto his butt again and scribbling that little detail along with some other notes in the pages of his book before he pushed himself to his feet, nose still buried in the scribbling and scratching of his pen upon the paper under his eyes. "Which direction is the altar meant to be in, then? Or is that another quest that we have to undertake." Ollie said, seemingly inviting himself along on this dangerous mission without a second thought, as if he hadn't even registered the reality of the giant man eating dinosaur.
"Wait, WE?! Ollie, kiddo, I understand that you're attracted to this whole "magic book" thing but you can't mean that we're ALSO gonna be blundering out there to get eaten, crushed or some combination of the two?" Procopius said in total disbelief. He was already getting a handle on the fact that his new partner was something of an...eccentric but this was beyond the pale of what even he had expected.
"Of course we are. There's a story here, Procopius and I aim to get it down while it's still fresh. Not to mention it would be rude to leave this two hanging after we anonymously blundered into their way." Ollie said, not even looking up from the note he was writing to speak to Procopius which just made the little clawed digimon sink a little. Somewhere far off in the forest the sound of something heavy and thick snapping resounded along with a primal, screaming roar up into the sky that made the pebbles on the ground around their feet shiver and dance like they were on a vibrating speaker.

"Well with its nature of being a magic book I guess being showed future events isn't that odd. Then there was that riddle a few moments ago. Its definitely like this book is trying to help guide us but I don't know for what purpose. Maybe the purpose will reveal itself over time." Kshin said scratching his chin as his hammer tail gently swished while he was in thought.
When Ollie asked which direction the alter was meant to be in both Kshin and Grace, at first, missed that the teen had invited himself on this quest, Grace looked around upon exiting the cave as if looking for some kind of clue before pointing as she said "Look. Those vines along the tree line. They look like the species of vine that was hanging near the alter and some were tangled around MasterTyrannomon in the last image."
"Guess something to go on is better than nothing." Kshin said looking at the vines before Ollie and Procopius' conversation registered in his head. Turning to the knowledge loving human, he said "Are you sure about coming with us? Grace and I can only reach the champion level with me reaching champion just recently. There is no guarantee we'll find the digimental or even survive this quest. So if things get too out of hand we may all have to run. Are you okay with that?" The roar didn't go unnoticed by the two friends and it made them uneasy but after taking a deep breath the pair began walking following the vines Grace indicated.
After walking for awhile the group came upon a clearing filled with many of the vines. Kshin didn't need to look long before spotting the alter they were searching for and approached the blue digimental with bat ears and wings folded in front of it. When he got to the alter he reached over touching the digimental feeling the power thrumming through the artifact before he reached over with his other paw. His paws were braced on either side of the digimental before he pulled on the digimental pulling it from the alter.
However Kshin didn't get time to celebrate before a thundering roar was heard as MasterTyrannomon crashed through the trees crashing into Kshin sending the Gumdramon skyward the digimental flying from his paws. Grace's wings extended from her back before she flew over to Kshin catching him and landing on the ground. Kshin looked over toward MasterTyrannomon noticing where the digimental was finding it wedged in the jaws of the dinosaur just like in the book. Terrific. Now to armor digivolve he had to get to the digimental in the back of MasterTyrannomon's jaws but since the ultimate level dinosaur's thrashing had gone to a pained one, things had gone from bad to worse.

"I'll give you a word of warning, chief. Once this kid decides that there's a story somewhere, I have yet to find a way to get him to drop it." Procopius said, hopping up onto Ollie's shoulder and clinging to one of the rucksack straps that were balancing themselves there.
"Quite right. I made myself the quest to record the Digital World for future generations and this seems to count for that, because everything counts for that. I'm afraid I won't be shaken while there's a story left to tell." Ollie said, adjusting the straps on his shoulders and puffing out his chest. He was a small kid but he was stubborn, he wouldn't even hear of the danger involved. The dark underlying reasons for WHY he was totally ignoring the possible consequences weren't important right now as he marched along behind them, sketching the limbs of vines as they rolled and curled and gasping at the ancient architecture of the forgotten forest altar, beginning to mumble to himself at lightning speed before he was shaken by the sudden stomping of the dinosaur monster behind them.
"Sweet Christmas." Procopius grunted as the pair had to watch from the ground as the massive monster ended up with the egg wedged between his teeth just like the book had said. He hunkered Ollie down behind the altar and mostly, hopefully out of sight. "Stay here. I have an idea. Granted, it's a STUPID idea but it's an idea." He said, scuttling down across the ground like a crab strapped to a firework, putting himself to work until he reached the planted foot of the thrashing tyrannosaur. "HEY GUYS! Keep his focus on you, try not to die, I have an idea!" The tiny digimon began to scuttle up the leg of the digimon, silently cursing himself for talking himself into this as he sped up the body of the dinosaur as fast as humanly possible, scrambling away from sidelong swipes and scratches and praying to digital god that the twin digimon would be able to keep the predator off of his back for long enough for him to move swiftly jaw-ward. He was small, tiny even, beneath the notice and threat assessment of most Digimon especially one this large and powerful and that meant that if he was VERY lucky he would be able to climb up, hop into that drooling jaw, lock his hand like body around the egg and pry it loose before getting chomped, ground into a paste or swallowed. At least, that was the idea. He didn't really have anything better to go on so he just kept climbing as fast as he could, hoping from some measure of safety if he could get above the beast's shoulders and stay away from any of the sensitive parts of its face.

"Fair enough." Kshin said with a sigh not willing to argue. Then he said "His natural curiosity is beginning to remind me of my birth parents and grandfather. They were explorers themselves that looked into ancient wonders of the Digital World." Tears began appearing in Kshin's amber eyes before the young Gumdramon began wiping his eyes while Grace rested one of her paws on his shoulder in an effort of silent comfort.
When Procopius said 'Sweet Christmas.' Grace, after she and her friend Kshin took cover with Ollie behind the alter, said "Boy is that an understatement. Now what? How do we get the digimental out of MasterTyrannomon's jaws?"
Then when Procopius made his way up the large thrashing dinosaur the Tsumemon told them to keep his focus on them and to try and not to die. As Procopius made his way to MasterTyrannomon's mouth to wedge the digimental out Kshin knew he had to do something. Yet when Grace also got up Kshin looked at her and asked "Grace are you sure you're up to this?"
"Stop fussing, Kshin. It's just a little bump. I'm fine." Grace said as she made her way out from behind MasterTyrannomon as the light of digivolution surrounded her before black flames surrounded her body as she said "Gammamon digivolve to...." The black flames then became normal colored flames as a red and white triceratops like digimon emerged from the flames and said "BetelGammamon!"
"Gumdramon digivolve to....Arresterdramon!" Kshin said before he became an armored dragon. His amber eyes locked on MasterTyrannomon trying to figure out how to keep the dinosaur's focus on him and not chomping down on Procopius. Then it came to him as he leapt at MasterTyrannomon swinging his tail jamming the metal on the end of his tail in the ultimate dinosaur's mouth. This caught MasterTyrannomon by surprise as he couldn't close his jaws but in his pain he didn't think of frying Kshin which the Arresterdramon was grateful for.
