It seemed like it was going to be one of those days, already, and it had only just begun. It was early in the morning and the trouble had already begun. Himiko was heading to the library to finish her homework before school began, the following day.
She had left it a little late, admittedly. But that was mainly because of her two hobbies. One was her job and the other a picked-up hobby. Training to be a shrine maiden so one day she could take over for her grandparents and father too. The other was harder to explain.
Ever since Tanabata, she had been a part of a bigger community. She just didn’t know it yet. Ever since she had been partnered up with Gabriel. A digital monster. Kinda looked like a yokai crossed with a ferret. Kinda lazy but... sweet tempered and friendly.
Together, they hunted down other Digimon who had entered this world and sent them back to their own. The world they came from was on some other plane of existence... it was hard to explain.
Anyway, Himiko with Kudamon riding on her shoulder, found a Digimon that morning. A cloud of fog was the usual giveaway. It surrounded the area that Digimon was in. Keeping it trapped while it bio-emerged fully into this world. Again, hard to explain.
“That’s not exactly what I was expecting on a Sunday. Chasing a giant rock monkey into the school building,” Himiko called, as they passed the remains of the gates. Mangled and crushed under the weight of said primate.
Himiko paused at the school doors, which also had been smashed open and were currently hanging from their hinges. “Uh, great. I hope we don’t get blamed for this...”
“I’m sure it’ll all work out.” Gabriel called from her shoulder, forcibly looking down at the devastation that had already been caused. "Speaking of which, got any snacks. I'm hungry?"

As they edged closer, the digivice that hung from her belt lit up and boomed a warning to the pair. “Warning: EDF is at 80% stability and falling. Full Bio-Immersion will commence when EDF dissipates.”
